Bought a vehicle with salvaged title and had new engine, brakes and multiple other things costing thousands of dollars replaced from other mechanic shops & vehicle still had issues. Took vehicle to Cody & wish he could have had vehicle from the very beginning, as we could have saved so much $ on unnecessary expenses !!! He has truly been a lifesaver!! I flew into Albuquerque to pick up an auction car, and the clutch needed to be replaced immediately. When every other shop was busy for weeks, Southern Boulevard Automotive came through that very day. They were upfront, transparent, professional, and reasonably priced. Though there was an issue with my repair, it was covered under NAPAs warranty, but thanks to Southern Boulevard Automotive being a member of their nationwide program.If I ever need automotive service in the area again, Id have no hesitation returning here. They helped me get places within a few minutes while I waited (food and library, both nearby), and were generally just nice people.Ive done all my own work for 18 years, but didnt want to change a clutch on the side of the road, and so went here. No regrets.

Very pleased! Let me start by saying that it has been at least 25 years since Ive taken a car to any shop to have work done. Previous bad experiences forced me to educate myself and learn how to fix things myself. Had issues with my Explorer, and couldnt figure it out on my own, so resigned myself to having a professional look at it. Cody had it towed in and diagnosed within the time frame he promised. I authorized the repair, and they had it done well ahead of when they promised. They didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need, and the cost was more than fair. I will not hesitate to bring my car back to them in the future. Great communication, and they got it done quickly. I really appreciate Cody and the team there!

Took my car to get serviced and have my timing done. Also some other services that needed to be complete. Took them almost a month to get completed. Only received 2 phone calls during this period. Very unprofessional on keeping me posted of what was going on with my car. Now to find out my front bumper wasnt placed on correctly. Now I have to put it back on. Usually I take my cars to Randy, at Rio Rancho Imports. Tried to share the business during the tough time of Covid. Now I will only deal with Rio Rancho Imports. I advise you all to do the same. Randy at Rio Rancho Imports is the best for all your vehicles needs.

Im not going to go into detail because there is a lot to say and then itll look like a fake review. I will tell you however that this should be the place you take your vehicle.This place is about courtesy, integrity, and professionalism. I understand there are some reviews about a lack of courtesy and/or communication but I did not experience that. Besides, the owner takes the time to address those issues in the google reviews. How many businesses do that... a handful?Anyway I went in, addressed the concerns I had about my truck knowing I wanted a lot done to it. For a reasonable fee they gave it a full inspection giving special attention to the concerns I mentioned. In the end I basically had the whole undercarriage of my truck rebuilt for a very reasonable price with a near perfect estimate/quote and NO up selling. Also unless a specific part has a limited warranty, this shop guarantees all their work and the parts they use with a 2 year/24k mile warranty. That was a big selling point for me. A nearby competitor has a 3 year/35k but they also charge a premium price for work thats just as good as Southern Blvd Automotive. I believe Southerns prices are super reasonable (but I didnt spend all week shopping around paying for inspections).

Greetings,In November of 2020, I took my old project truck in (a 93 Nissan D-21 Hardbody with 253k miles) for repair after the rear differential shattered. It had a gear oil leak which lead to a catastrophic failure and loss of a large part of the rear end of the truck.John (the Owner) was able to locate replacement parts and rebuilt the entire rear end, restoring it back to normal function. It is not an easy task to locate rear end parts for a 27 year old vehicle, but he did and successfully rebuilt the rear differential and rear end components.This is one of several reasons to take your vehicle into Southern Blvd. Automotive; they have the ability to repair very old vehicles like mine.John and staff can fix just about anything you bring in and have been an established business here in Rio Rancho, NM for 25 years. They offer a 10% AAA discount up to $50, which helped me save a little bit on this project.If you dont have AAA, they offer free towing with repairs and a courtesy shuttle to pick you up when the work is finished. I also got a two year warranty on parts and labor with this repair project.Its a busy shop with 12 service bays and the work can be expensive, but all good quality automotive repair work is anyway. Ultimately I would recommend John and Southern Blvd. Automotive because your vehicle will be fixed properly and back on the road.Stop by and get a quote for your next repair or project.

Referred a Female friend based on a quote for a simple job. They charged my friend in excess of 4X the quote and even replaced parts that were already replaced before being taken to the shop. I will steer clear of this business in the future.

Here we are in a pandemic and I am a senior who needed help with my Prius C. The battery was dead and when I called them, they told me I had to take it to the dealership because they only carried Interstate batteries and Interstate does not carry a 12 volt battery for a Prius C. When I asked them if they could get a battery from the dealer and install they said no. Really? What car repair place does not go out for parts needed for repairs? I could walk to Southern Blvd and avoid having to get in a car with another person rather than have to go across town to the dealership and these guys at Southern Blvd could not help me out. They are even a Triple AAA company and still no help for me? Luckily, I found anther Triple AAA car repair place within walking distance who had no problem sourcing a battery from the Toyota dealership across town and installing it for me. If you want good, kind people to help you out then go to Innovative in RIo Rancho and forget Southern.

I was charged $157 just for them to start my car and tell me I need a new engine based on the noise they didn’t even check to make sure and Said it would be $5000 to put in used engine. Found out it was just a cam shaft bearing that gave out Causing noise engine is fine. Also told me I was down 3 quarts of oil when i filled up my car completely before they took it and checked it when they towed my car back and it was still completely full with oil on dipstick. Total waste of money when I was already hurting on money and in need of a repair still totally just trying to make money on putting in an engine and not discovering the real problem I will never go back here again or recommend anyone to go here.

My daughter brought her vehicle in for a few issues, normal LOF check brakes and look over vehicle. Prior to coming in we called for prices and was told standard oil change is 34 plus cost of filter, brakes no charge for inspection along with looking over vehicle. Needless to say they ended up charging half an hour to look over vehicle. Disappointed that we were told one thing over the phone and then charged different at the end.Very busy shop and looked a little crazy a few times, no communication.

Excellent experience!I needed to have a lot of work done on my vehicle and have visited other shops and some of the quotes they gave me were outrageous. From the moment I walked into the shop I was treated with respect, everyone was friendly. The staff did everything to make sure my repairs were done in a timely manner. They did their best to keep me up to date on the whole process which I thought was amazing especially with how busy they seemed to be. We did experience a little delay because a part was not available in town but that wasnt a big deal, it happens. The car is running perfect and it was a little cheaper than what I was originally quoted!! I will definitely recommend them and go to them for any future service. Very satisfied customer!

Can I give 100 stars to this business? I truly wish Id brought my SUV to Southern Boulevard Automotive for maintenance years ago! My neighbor recommended them to me after Id shared with him that the Toyota dealership wanted over $8,000 to repair my car. The power steering system was basically shot, most of the panel indicator lights were on and just a myriad of things that needed to be corrected. Cody was attentive and more than courteous. I shopped the quote Id gotten from Firestone, asking other repair shops to beat their price. Cody easily saved me a bunch of money on the needed repairs. Since my suv is the only car we have, they provided a courtesy shuttle to bring me home, then picked me up two days later when the repair was complete. I am confident that I received top-notch customer service at a very fair and reasonable price.I agree with other reviewers here that seeing the Biblical quote on the wall and listening to Christian music in the shop is refreshing! I thoroughly recommend SBA!

They say word of mouth is the greatest form of advertisement. Some friends recommended me to Southern Boulevard Automotive, and the first thing I saw when I walked in, was a powerful quote (John 14:6).I spoke with Cody, he towed my vehicle and repaired the fuel pump in a matter of hours. My son’s car had died and he left it parked for a couple of years. I brought it over to Cody and he diagnosed it and took care of the alternator and power steering pump in a matter of hours as well.I highly recommend this establishment for honest, quality work in a timely manner.Thank you Cody and staff....

Ill start by saying the customer service was good with my experience. Cody kept me in the loop the whole time. However, the service was average at best. My issue was with my older vehicle that would crank but not start. Had it towed in after hours and was later informed that the main control relay was to blame for my problem. Fair enough, had them replace it and was later told that wasnt the issue and that more diagnostic work would be needed. Gave them the ok for the additional expense and was told that the car needed a new computer. After hearing this, a red flag went up but I had them look into it anyway to see if was something feasible. They came back with an estimate that was much more than I was willing to pay so I had the vehicle towed back to my place so I can obtain and install the computer myself (not that hard of repair for this particular car). While waiting for the computer to come in I looked over their work and found the car wasnt completely put back together when they released it to me. The control module relay they replaced wasnt secured to the mounting bracket (see pic) bad news with bumps and vibrations. Also found the kick panel to access the computer wasnt put back on and had everything exposed (which in this case I didnt mind since I was going to be in there anyway) I also noticed the cap to my Schrader valve on the fuel rail was missing. Not that big of a deal but its the small housekeeping things that win me over.So after being told the computer wasnt grounding and replacing it with a new one, the car still didnt start so I investigated further and found a blown fuse on the exact same circuit the relay and the computer were on (the ignition and constant control relay module circuit). So while true their diagnostic came back as the computer not grounding it wasnt the actual computer they had condemned (it also raised the question if the relay actually needed to be replaced). It was a 5 dollar fuse that had blown that was causing the open circuit (see pic). Again, the small things matter! Its frustrating when paying for a bunch of diagnostic time that condemns the expensive items when in this case a simple fuse was over looked. I understand what goes into diagnosing auto issues, it takes time, expertise, expensive tools, and reference resources not readily available to the Joe Schmoe diy guy. However, there needs to be some customer guarantee when something simple gets overlooked in the diagnostic process especially when diagnostic time makes up the majority of the shop invoice now days.

The staff are friendly and the work done seems to be fine but the time taken was pretty outrageous and communication was pretty much non-existent unless we initiated. We called on Friday to make an appointment to take our van in on Monday to look at a clicking noise when turning, an oil change, and brake check. We were told to bring it in early Monday morning. Took it in and they didnt look at it on Monday. They did call at the end of the day Monday to say the oil change was done and to confirm that I wanted them to look at the problem that I took it for. Called on Tuesday and they said it was too late to get parts and they would be there on Wednesday afternoon and they would really try to get it done. The repair needed turned out to be replacing the upper strut mount bearing on the drivers side and then an alignment. I called on Wednesday afternoon and was told that they didnt get all the parts they ordered and it wouldnt be ready until Thursday morning. About noon on Thursday they called and said it was ready. I am really disappointed that it took so long to get looked at even when we had called to make an appointment. We will not be using them again because of this.

We travel from ranch in northern new Mexico just to see John and his team. We have taken all of personal as well as fleet of ranch trucks for 15+ years now now to southern Blvd auto. Just paid close to 600.00 for new ignition. To top it off they couldnt use same key as doors. They told me to pay a locksmith if I want same key. This price is also 100.00 above quote. This is a 2004 Grandam. The car is probably worth 1000.00. When mechanic talked with my husband he told him you now have to put foot on break to put in gear. This has always been case with this car so what is he talking about? I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Try Brooks automotive in Abq. He is honest and friendly but, he is always busy. If you are in a hurry and want to go an extra day without vehicle as well as pay more, Southern Automotive is your place to go.

This shop does really great work, my family has been here multiple times over 10 years and have never been let down. My last service was a larger fix, and it was completed earlier than the projected time. Will continue to take all of my cars here for now on.

Last week I called in to get an oil change on short notice. I fully understand this isnt always possible. They managed to get me in in a timely fashion and did a very thorough job. Shop Manager Tom and The rest of the staff were very professional and helpful. Technician Joseph was a nice young man and was very pleasant when I asked him to check the air in the tires also. I have visited this ship for years and they recently did a great job on my RV. Owners John and Rebecca run a quality shop and I am glad to be a customer.

I am very happy that we had our sons 1999 Camry taken to this shop . I received an estimate for the timing belt kit, oil change and labor over the phone from Chris. It was quite reasonable compared to other shops in the area. The free towing was such a benefit. The car was picked up from our home at 9:00 am and by 1:30 pm on the same day I received a call from Tom saying that the car was ready to be picked up!!! I had assumed that it would take a couple of days to repair. They charged me EXACTLY what I was quoted by phone and did not try to up sell me even though Im sure that our older car could have used a few other maintenance items. I will definitely use this shop again in the future. All of the employees were very cordial. Personally, I also enjoyed hearing Christian music being played in the shop and seeing the Gospel message on the back wall.

The ONLY complaint that I have, is that this shop is 20 miles from my home.I have been to Southern Blvd Automotive numerous times, and it has ALWAYS been fixed right the first time, and on time.John, the owner, is a gifted mechanic.He actually listens to you when you describe what your problem is, and writes it down. You are given a quote, which by the way, is lower by comparison with other shops in the area.Tom the service manager, is a great person to deal with too.One time John even told me what the problem was with my wifes car over the phone! I was thinking to myself, uh-huh, only to find out that when I took it to the shop, it was exactly what he said it was. These guys are the best around. I started bringing our oldest vehicle to the shop to get it fixed up to sell. They went above and beyond to fix the issues needed as well as advising me on the state of other areas of the car.Recently, when we were shopping for a replacement vehicle, we brought the cars we looked at over for a pre-purchase inspection. They do an extremely thorough job of inspecting all the major and minor systems and parts. I dont know very much about cars, but at Southern Automotive that they do excellent work and never had an issue. Something needed to be done it was explained to me at a level in which i understood what was going and why it needed to be repaired . Never anything was worked on or replaced with out my permission. They have always been honest with me. I might not always like the bill sometimes(lol) and who doesnt but i know that i am getting the best of the best. I have always been treated with upmost respect as a women and many places make you feel very uncomfortable. The employees at Johns Automotive bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable while waiting or take you home. They will even run across the street to buy you a beverage if needed.

This company may be stock full of highly qualified and talented mechanics, but I wouldnt know. Despite having a 9am appointment and despite my own phone call during the noon hour where I was told the work would be done by the end of the day, at 5pm the car had yet to be moved into a bay to even be looked at. I understand that problems and delays occur, but I can not forgive the lack of communication. If at anytime someone would have expressed that they were backed up and unable to get to my vehicle, I could have made arrangements to be without a car for an additional day or rescheduled my appointment all together. Everyone I have spoken to at this company has been warm, friendly, and helpful. I hope this experience was an exception and not a rule for how they conduct business.

Inexperienced staff

Had my car towed here for not starting. The first thing is when they hooked it up the tow truck driver raced out of the store parking lot. Come to find out it was just a bad battery and had my car sitting for 2 days! I dont recommended this place for repairs.

These guys go the extra mile to get the job done. Have an old truck with 240K miles on it. The fuel pump went out and I literally pushed it into their parking lot. They fixed it in a timely manner at a reasonable price and gave me a two year, 24K mile guarantee on the parts and labor. The truck ran about two days and stopped. They came and got it from my driveway for free, found the loose fuel pump connection, did not charge me for the extra work. The trucks runs great again and I will be back next time I need them. I recommend them if you want the job done right.

Called to get a quote on brakes and the gentleman man was very rude. Very unprofessional when you have a customer on the phone and feel the need to talk with someone else, sir if you are to busy to answer my questions on the phone please do not answer, finish what you are doing and then take care of the next customer. You obviously can NOT do more than one thing, almost sounded like he was chewing gum at the same time. UNPROFESSIONAL

Horrible customer service is DEFINITELY the norm! I have used them on three different occasions through the years since Im a block away. I forget how awful they are and give them another shot for the convenience of having them close by. I am dealing with them AS I TYPE THIS, and Im having issues. I told my wife that next time I tell her Im going to Southern Boulevard Automotive instead of Sonnys, whom I usually use, just to punch me in the face instead. The problem isnt that they wont fix your car, its that they will NOT NOT NOT communicate with you whatsoever. They wont call you to authorize work. They wont call you to give you an update. They wont call you when its done. Once your car is in their possession, you do not exist anymore. Your new hobby is getting your car back. Theyve had my car since Tuesday morning. It is now Friday afternoon. I still get nothing but the brush-off and runaround when I call. (Let me check. Well call you right back.) I am going there tonight after work and I am leaving with my car, whether its fixed or not. How nice they are will decide whether they get paid or not. Southern Boulevard Automotive was fantastic! I could not have asked for better customer service. They were patient with waiting for me to aquire parts and gave me an honest evaluation of my car. Also once I have the parts service was finished in a day. Beyond this they went above and beyond what I asked to do and fixed minor things in the car such as bent metal. I cannot stress how much I appreciate these guys. I would recommend them to anyone looking for work done.

I was in the Front office when this last reviewer came in, i was waiting in the front lobby. the owner was in no way rude or disrespectful. The stated to the owner that prior to bring the van in he had been beating on the dash to get the van started and that he had hit it so hard that the needle on the odometer had fallen off and he asked if they had fixed that in which the owner replied the customer had not requested that speedometer be fixed. and the guy agreed so i dont know what his problem was.Southern Blvd. Automotive has been working on our cars and trucks for years. they tow for free which i appreciate very much. They have always been honest and fair. and yes i will be coming back.the negative reviews are biased and only tell one side of the story. You dont get to hear the Business Owners side, just negativity. and then we are supposed to base or judgements off that? Come on people get a grip!!

Edit: had to bring my other car in for a leaky water pump, oil cooler, and thermostat replacement (December 2020) and im glad I chose this place again. It was clear they were busy, but I was impressed with how quickly they got the job done. Thanks a lot guys! Still highly recommended!2018: I took our car in for what looked like a problem with the fuel injector; when they looked at it and thought the same thing, I told them I had already replaced it and asked them to recheck the electrical. Instead of insisting on fixing it and adding an unnecessary repair to our bill (probably easily an extra $400 in their pockets) they listened to me, double and triple checked the wiring, and found the problem after some persistence and maneuvering of the wires (it turned out to be a finicky wire/ECM that only acted up when moved, making it very tricky to diagnose). They called me back within a couple hours to tell me I was right and explained to me what the new plan was to fix it. If that isnt honesty, I dont know what is! These guys listen to their customers and do only whats necessary at a very reasonable price. The staff are friendly, professional, and do a great job at communicating with their clients. They are definitely our go to mechanic from now on!

My review was removed for some reason. I would never take a car back to this place again. I spent well over 5,000 dollars on a jeep I had thinking I got a good deal. I want to believe in places that seem reputable. However when I simply needed a battery replaced, I called the two truck when I broke down. By the time the driver arrived I had figured it out. I asked the driver to give me a jump which he did. It worked. So in fact I figured out what the problem was. I offered the driver some money for his time but was told that he could not take it. I wanted to do something for him so when he offered to drop it off at the shop for free, (it was well within the 10 mile radius) he said that they would only charge me for the cost of the battery and installation, which I feel is fair. When I arrived to pick it up I discovered that the owner changed me the diagnosis for 89.00. Plus they installed a battery that cost me twice the cost if I had picked it up from AUTO ZONE. All of which I could have dealt with if they did not push their religious attitude. I believe it paying a fair price, but I simple battery replacement should not cost almost 300 dollars. They are shames. They use the religious ambiance to lure people into a sense of trust. I will never do business with them again. I also tell everyone other educator about my experience. Wolf in sheep clothing.

I went to Southern Blvd and asked if I could speak to the owner about some issues with my car. Prior to talking about the problems with my car I expressed some hesitations I had due to reviews his shop received, especially the latest one I read. I mentioned to the owner that he had been highly recommended by family members and friends. He did take the time to assure me the behavior in the review was not acceptable in his place of business and was upset by the incident. He assured me the incident was handled and it was important to him that all customers be treated with respect and it would never happen again. I did mention that everyone makes mistakes and uses poor judgment at times, but in the end I was completely satisfied with our conversation. We talked about the issues with my vehicle and I went ahead and had my repairs done with them. Not only was it done in a timely manner but the price was fair. ( I did shop around with different establishment and found Southern Blvd to be competitive.)

Save yourself some time and money. Find a shop that doesn’t try to sell you EVERYTHING wrong with your vehicle. They don’t listen to directions, nor care about your time. Terrible customer service. Also, my grandmother took her vehicle there and they did $2,000 worth of work and NEVER replaced the blown head gasket like she asked them to!

I have been coming here for years and the service and quality is beyond reproach. Tom and John have been nothing but courteous and friendly. I guess naysayers have never heard of a flat rate manual for universal charges to car repairs. Or maybe they are just part of the anti-christian movement of today.

Im done with these people.I took my car in because it would not start. I figured Electrical or fuel.!! It was cranking over!!!They towed it and it happened to start up in their garage. They replaced the Battery and the Battery cable ends for 350 dollars. Prior to this time they replaced my crankshaft sensor for 380 dollars that’s 100 plus Dollars or so in parts plus 1 hour of labor and mandatory diagnostic of 89.When I first went there, they were impressive and very honest now I think their mechanics are trying to milk their customers for every penny they can. My problem is I can do the work just don’t have the time. Looks like I’ll need to find the time and if I can’t I am going elsewhere.

Would rate a 0 if I could. Brought in my Ford Contour Bout a year ago now. I know nothing about how to fix cars, so I told them I thought it was my fuel pump, but Im not too sure. Turns out it was the timing belt and other timing belt parts that needed replacing. So they replaced it, however they also replaced my fuel system and said it was at the customers request. No, it was not .it was a THOUGHT the customer had. So if the fuel pump wasnt broken, why fix it? Well they did anyways, and Ive had so much trouble since then and now it wont run. Went to AutoZone for the check engine code, and guess what? The evap fuel tank pressure sensor is not working. No integrity there. When I first got my car back, it stopped running right away and was smoking out of the exhaust. Took it back, was told it was fixed and running great.So I get there to pick it up right as they are closing, and was literally told nothing else is wrong. I start the car and my damn check engine light is STILL on!!!! Of course they had already left for the day. After that, I will never go here again, and from speaking with a couple other people who have been here, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! Was charged an extra $500 plus for the fuel system that was still actually working, and now the car is junk. Wont even start. Worst mechanics I ever seen. I also find it hilarious how the owner feels the need to come on here and defend himself lol. If you have such a good business, theres no need for that and youre work will speak for itself. Makes me think theyre so afraid of people finding out that they actually do have issues with the work they do. You dont see him thanking or commenting on the nice reviews. Cant wait for a response or to come back and see my review taken down.Response to your false response: Youre just plain lying now. I never said I knew FOR SURE it was the fuel pump, I said I Thought it was. Can you see the difference there between a thought and actually knowing what the issue is? You just took advantage of someone who knew nothing about cars. Anyway Ive been reading your reviews and you claim to have to do diagnostics before you do any work, so why was that not done? Because if it was then you would have seen the issue really was my timing belt. And for that matter, now that Ive taken it somewhere else, the issue is the Evap fuel tank pressure sensor. So clearly if thats my problem, and you even just said you replaced the fuel system, then why am I having trouble with it now? Because you guys are morons and dishonest thats why. Christian Brothers is a million times better than your joke of a business. I know for a fact I wouldnt have said to do work on it without knowing for sure what the issue was. And after going back 2 times and having the same issue why in the hell would I let you work on it again? My check engine light was on when I picked it up from that moron Tom. DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE!!!!! You can not trust what they say. Save yourself a lot of trouble and go somewhere else. Have been a loyal customer for several years even live in the neighborhood, but that means nothing to Tom and his staff. They have a screw-you-overattitude. No scruples at all. They even have scriptures on the wall....dont let that fool you, they are greedy and money hungry. They didnt even do the work they were suppose to do. I used to be a Auto mechanic, I know how much tools and specialized computers cost. they are thousands of dollars. So to expect someone to repair your vehicle for free is insane. I used Southern blvd automotive and they were more than fair and went out of their way to show me what was wrong. I, like one of the other reviewers, can do these repairs myself but I also dont have time and dont like paying for these repairs. but these guys at southern blvd in NO way took advantage of me. they are very honest.
