As a sour enthusiast, I have been exploring sour beers in the country through Tavour. This place has the best sour that I have had. Most breweries add lactose (milk sugar) to the sour for additional smoothness and sweetness. Yet lactose leaves a funny, unpleasant, plumy aftertaste. The sour here doesnt have lactose so that whatever your palate experiences fully comes from fruit and yeast. I tried all the sour on tap and they were either outstanding or unbelievable: balanced and complex. I will order regularly if they ship.
Oh man, this place was excellent. They had this heavily fruited sour which pretty much 6 out of 7 of us got. Inside was cool on a super hot day, but we sat outside and that was fine. The odd man out had the double IPA which he referred to as a very smooth potent potable.
Great spot. Super friendly people and amazing beer.
Had a great time super laid back, bartender was extremely friendly and professional many things were to go however sadly growler fills werent an option for me and my friend. All the pours were good and I even got a cool sticker.
Super cool place with unique beer selections! Food menu is not huge, but it is pretty varied and all the dishes were fantastic. We only stopped in for brunch, so Im not sure if the menu is different for lunch and dinner, But everything we tried was top notch. I cant wait to go back and try the other beers I didnt have room for this first pass 😁
I have had great experiences with Fifth Frame as of late, particularly since COVID. Theyre always friendly, enforce mask-wearing, and have taken a sensible approach to phasing in and out various offerings as the constantly changing restrictions dictate. Definitely a gem of the local scene, and a sorely needed daytime social spot in the area.
Great beer and service. Hope they start serving food again soon!
The burgers here taste freaking amazing and the craft beer selection on tap is amazing. I highly recommend trying this place out for a good time with some good food.
Friendly, attentive staff. Lots of interesting beer options that are well brewed with few issues. The Queen B with shredded chicken & kimchi was solid. Chicken wasnt dry at all, the bun was surprisingly stellar, and the heat level of the kimchi was perfect. This place is doing all the things right. (They even allow outside bottle shares). Im excited to see where this place is going. Did I mention that they have coffee and they roast their own beans?
Fifth Frame opened in October 2017 with food and their own coffee, and started serving their craft brewed beer in December 2017. For a place so new, they definitely have their act together. My wife and I started with a Café Mocha and I have to say it was one of the best in my life. One of the secrets is their use of chocolate ganache from a local baker. This so beats the syrup that is typically used, or even a high-quality powder. The latte art on top was also well done and added to the presentation. I could have sat here drinking a few of these and been very happy.Food was darn good. I had the bean burger and was equally impressed. Again, it was one of the best I ever had. My wife had one of the omelet sandwiches and was equally impressed. You must try the carrot and potato hash. It was more of a home fry than a hash, but it was absolutely delicious and enough for two to share. Biscuits and cinna. On butter were outstanding. My table split a piece of birthday cake for dessert. This expertly made treat was two layers of very moist and dense chocolate cake, separated by a coffee buttercream (or so I think), covered by white icing and a layer of ganache. Oh my...this was amazing.Overall, the menu was small and somewhat limited, but everything was high-quality and well prepared. I cant wait to see how it is expanded over time. For coffee, they had a single-farm Guatemalan today which was excellent. So many subtle and complex flavor notes. Really good. They also offer cold brew, I believe on nitro too.We got to taste a few of their beers as well. They offer many unique styles including a Kentucky Common and a Rye Pilsner. Everything we tried was very well made. I cant wait to come back and tip back a few pints.I spoke at length with Wade, one of the partners. His knowledge of food science, brewing and roasting is deep and impressive. This knowledge really shows up in Fifth Frames products.Make your way down here. This place is worth it!
Great atmosphere. Great beer.
Excellent craft beer and cool historic location in downtown Rochester.
Great place in Rochester NY. Visited while on vacation visiting family. Very well brewed beer. Nice profiles to all them. None of the beers had any pine tree hard core west coast IPA. Great flavor profiles. Pack it up and oil up were favorites. Service was good. Quickly greeted and beers served just as quickly. Crowlers canned as you watch. It was a fun place. Impressed overall.
As I got tired of going to Starbucks everyday I decided to try Fifth Frame. Its a Cool chill place. They put work into making their coffee and brews. You are paying for the quality of the food and drinks. Food is filling and staff is great 👍 Chill spot to do work during the day or relax and enjoy a drink in the evening. Specialty coffees on rotation. I had a cappuccino and maple sausage sandwich. I would like to give a 4.5star but Google doesnt allow it.
The creativity alone at 5th Frame is 6/5 stars. The breakfast sandwich is phenomenal, the service is fantastic, and you can easily join a members club for discounts. The beer is one of my favorites, theyre always full of surprising flavors, and their rotation is constantly re-freshing. If you dont know about the Boom-Boom, definitely try it.
Nice atmosphere, nice selections, strong espresso, great desserts! On-street parking right in front. A tad pricey, maybe, but really enjoyed having breakfast there with my friend. Plenty of plugs, too, for electronics--thats a plus--we FaceTimed folks across the world; a real shared global experience.
The food is amazing here and I do recommend you try them out. They have a great menu selection and everything is priced reasonably.
Ordered beer online. Took two weeks and constant prodding by myself through instagram and texting to get them to ship. I dispute the credit card transaction, and magically my package ships. To make it up to me, they sent me an extra 4-pack, which was all old beer. Thanks? Ill never order from them again.
The server seemed like he was in a bad mood? We didn’t realize their kitchen was closed as the website doesn’t state so. But he said because of NYS law we had to buy a pbj sandwich (said it to everyone who came in) and not a single person in that bar ever got this required sandwich. The beer tasted excellent but about 1-2 hours after getting home my boyfriend and I were violently ill. We had not eaten or drunken anywhere else.
The 3 special was amazing and recommended! Will be back for more. Very relax and welcoming.
They have their burgers back Monday 10/21.Nice beer selection. I had their in-house dark nice flavor. Today the food was a PB&J I think orange marmalade didnt taste bad. Mandatory to comply with the governors mandates. wish it had been Monday and I could have gotten a burgers though.
Had a beautiful walk down town spotted this place 4/9/21 - absolutely ridiculous bar tender male - 3:57 PM - we had ordered - two drinks between two people great drinks bar tender refused - to come to the table we were sitting at once ordered he brought our drinks with a extreme bad attitude - requested - another round this guy showed up with two glasses of water never coming back would love to get a hilarious reply from ownership on this review - one star for one star businesses
Great place. Will be back soon. The bowling lane tables are a nice touch. They brew it all, coffee and beer. Start the day with espresso and a breakfast sandwich then spend the rest of the day sampling the wide variety of beers and eating from the rest of the menu. If you find a beer you really like, bring it home in cans.
Beers were delicious, staff super friendly. Spent a rainy Saturday afternoon sampling their stuff. Great recommendations from the guys behind the bar for things to do while I was in town. Super chill. Will go again if Im back in town!
Great spot!
Had wanted to try their beer for quite a while and was pleased with what I had. It is a nice relaxed atmosphere with simple decor. We visited on a Friday evening and there were enough customers to have a busy feeling without being crowded. The staff were friendly and helpful. Didnt have any food but the menu is interesting.
Kitchen menu is limited but creative. My daughter and I are both vegetarian and loved the tofu sandwich and mixed grains salad. The selection of drinks is great, from house-roasted coffee drinks to excellent Fifth Frame craft brews. I enjoyed the Blue Sky, which is the house ale- darker and richer than expected, but an excellent pick that Ill definitely come back for. Cool, minimalist decor with a relaxed vibe and friendly service. Check. It. Out.
Nice small place. Friendly staff. Fun to try new beers. Would go again. Music was bit too loud considering the echo from the tall ceilings. Really nice to see our downtown Rochester buildings being used for fun!
Stopped here for lunch. Their cold brew is decent. Their burger was delicious with fries to match! If I had more time I would have tried some espresso and beer bit I am confident it would have been delicious as well.
Not a huge selection of drinks and food but everything is fantastic and reasonably priced. Great burgers the spicy chicken sandwich was crispy spicy and slightly sweet which was great. The homemade pickles are fantastic. and all the drinks were good. Street parking on saint Paul has always been hit or miss but I cant fault them for that. Wonderful establishment in Rochester.
Discovered this place during a random walk. Great beer selection. Off-beat approach. Great food. Great food as well. Now that a previous bar has fallen off my list (long story), this one joins the cadre just in time!
I saw their table at the South Wedge Farmers Market, so I visited their place on St. Paul Street. The place is modern with great tall windows, lots of natural lighting, and bowling style decor. The guy behind the counter was friendly, relaxed, and busy getting everyones drinks. Their Mexican coffee is delicious! I ordered an iced Mexican coffee. Its not very bitter, naturally processed, and has great flavor and fruity notes. Its now my favorite coffee and not especially expensive either. You can order the same coffee from them too. I got two bags.
Awesome place, very nice place, good beer
Food was excellent. I really enjoyed the friendly, personal service as well. Nothing on offer to drink except beer and it is pricey, but there are samples, which you also pay for. Still a smart concept for the business to grow. And again, you will love the food.
I loved the atmosphere of this place. Its modern, has great layout with a long bar, and has lots of windows for lighting. The beer is great, the coffee is great and I hope that soon I get the chance to try their food! If you like craft beer or coffee I would highly recommend this place! Definitely give it a try. I only have one piece of constructive criticism...if you get a flight there, they give it to you in all of their full size glass with nothing to carry them. Which if you are sitting at the bar, its no big deal. But Im a clumsy person with smaller hands and I couldnt carry them all to the table I was sitting at in one trip. If they got smaller glasses and something to put them in it would be fantastic. Again, not a big deal but out of my whole experience there that was the one thing that I had an even slightly negative thought about. But that would not stop me from going there and/or getting a flight at any point! They are doing a great job over there and should keep on doing what they are doing, because its working!
Great beer and great atmosphere
The staff here was great. They took their time discussing the beer options and making recommendations and allowing samples. The beer I tried was all very good. I tried mostly IPA because I was in a hurry, but will definitely go back for more. I like the location as well, its not too far off the expressway but not in an incredibly busy section of town. There was street parking available when I went.
Love this place! Excellent beers, we have many favorites! The atmosphere is great, the food is tasty and we always have a lot of fun with the staff. The place is a blast!
Beer was great. Fries were good. Burger was pretty well done and not the way I like it...should have asked how I wanted it cooked...even so it was underwhelming. The space is still cool and I like the fact there arent any TVs but a bunch of board games to use.
Great beer selections and freshly made food to order. You can watch them make your food while you sample the awesome beers. They even make their own bread! Very friendly staff and great service?
The wait is long but their Garibaldi is so good I would sit there and drink it all night if I could. The rest of their drink menu is just okay, and their food is pretty delicious... but the wait is pretty long in such a cramped area. The shishito peppers are so delicious, and their salmon dish was yummy.
I remember the owners came to my place of work, a successful and popular Rochester restaurant, and were the rudest, most obnoxious “customers” I ever sat. Snarky comments, etc. You aren’t cool, and you aren’t funny. They tortured their server too, whom I spoke with after. Your brewery might be successful, but learn a little politeness and respect visiting other Rochester businesses.
Really enjoyed this place. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Despite it being busy, they were more than happy to help me choose a menu item i would enjoy, offer suggestions, and make slight changes to the order to maximize my enjoyment. I had the burger, and added kimchi, and it was really, really good! The cook and the bartender both chatted briefly with me, checked in to ensure I was satisfied, and the happy, comfortable mood of the patrons reflected this. I cant wait to go back and recommend this place to friends!
Went for the first time about a week ago and was very happy that I did. The staff was very friendly, the beer was delicious and unique in flavor. We tried the burgers and were very happy with both of them; good flavor. The cops were just normal, out of the bag style, but still a good complement to the burger. We look forward to seeing what else theyll have to offer in the future. We love the bar made from bowling lanes. We lucked out and didnt have to pay for parking when we went. That would be the only downside, finding parking that doesnt cost anything or at least not too much not that the city extended the past parking hours (still worth going out and giving Fifth Frame a shot).
Beers are good. Staff is not as friendly or helpful as Id hoped. 3 different beer menus on the counter but no one seemed to know which one was correct. Good beer is the only saving quality!
Phenomenal beer. Got to try the espresso and beer shot if you go. And fantastic food.Come on down to the Lehigh Valley (PA) and open up a location!
I love it here! I have only ever come from coffee and breakfast, and I find that the prices, the staff and the overall atmosphere is the best compared to all other coffee spots in the city! Glad I dont have to pay high prices for black coffee and can enjoy the great music they play! 😁 Literally on my way there right now....
Drinks were tasty, the place is nice, food was decent. Burgers were good, fries were good, biscuits were great. Cinnamon butter was good, pimento was good, maple butter didnt taste like maple at all, and their spicy sausage wasnt spicy and didnt really taste like pork sausage.
Best helles lager in Rochester. Great coffee and food. Amazingly knowledgeable staff. One of my favorite breweries.
This is a great new spot in town. I’ve been for coffee, beers and food. The coffee and beers are fantastic. They roast in house for coffee and make drinks in a variety of styles. The beer is good too from what I’ve sampled - primarily their IPAs. The most recent time I went I got a burger and it was awesome. Their food menu is fairly limited, but from what I had, I really enjoyed it. The burger was very delicious and I believe they are ground and made right in house. Worth stopping by for a burger and a beer. I’d give 5 stars if there were more food options, but realistically everything they have on their menu is very good.
Pretty good beer. service could be much better. They are pretty slow with serving. Prices for sample sizes were also a bit high in my opinion, where it was almost $3 for about 4 ounces of beer. Parking is also a hassle here, but there is a lot hidden around the corner right next to the Thruway exit
Best beer, best staff, friendliest most down to earth owner Ive ever met. You feel like your part of a family there! And by far the best beer in Rochester NY!
Amazing beer and super friendly staff! I highly recommend checking them out!
Good beer. Would have been 4 stars if noise was reduced.
Great food with creative, clean beers. The beers were complex in flavor and went down easy. everything I tried was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The brewer was there pouring beers and talking to everyone. It was a delicious night! Ill be back!
Personally I feel this is the best new brewery in town. Every beer Ive had has been delicious, ranging from IPAs to browns to English bitters. Not to mention, everything that comes out of the kitchen is superb, especially the biscuits!
I was wildly impressed with fifth frame brewing Co. It earned its high praise from D&C beer writer Will Cleveland. The bartenders were friendly and they both came and talked to us and gave us tasters to try their beers. The Clap Track I had was so good I had to buy a mini growler of it for home. Someone else ordered a burger and it looked/smelled delicious. Working nearby, Im due to try this place out for a coffee and breakfast sandwich before work as well.
When you go into Fifth Frame, you dont just get AMAZING food, AMAZING beer, and good music. The employees get along really well with one another. They are beyond supportive. I cant tell you how many times Ive been turned off from a restaurant when you see two employees speaking poorly to one another.Youll also see local startups talking about the future.Youll get exceptional service. You can play board games. What else do you want in a neighborhood restaurant?
Really cool place with a great vibe to it. Would be a lovely place to meet friends. Their stout is fantastic as well as their burgers.
This place is amazing! The food, and the service was great. The beer selection was even better. A little bit of everything, and some off the path stuff (like the evolving ale, or their lager) which was fantastic!
Seriously good beer. Espressos are on point. Always good music or something playing on the projector. Easily a place you could sit and sample beers for a whole afternoon.
Fifth frame has a really slick vibe. The owners are the people that work there, and make great conversation if you start one. They’re passionate people that make damn good beer. Excited to try their coffee later today!
I’m so glad Rochester has a spot like this. Good coffee, great atmosphere, craft beer and yummy food. The perfect place to grab a drink - coffee or beer - and catch up with a friend.
Had a really good cheese burger there. Great service. Played uno while waiting. Had a good time.
Awesome staff. Prices a bit on the high end even for craft beer. Beer was good but selection is definitely aimed at one type of beer drinker. A must see if you want to try all of the small brewing companies Rochester has to offer but with that being said still middle of the road compared to some of the other beers Rochester has to offer.
Stopped in yesterday to grab a few brews and was impressed by the quality of their beers. The beer list was diverse in styles and each beer seemed to be a unique take on the style it was. The place its self was clean and inviting, and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend a visit here to anyone who enjoys craft beer.
Food was very good but... Menu stated choice of small salad, waitress said no choice. Im a slow eater and didnt get my order until others already done. Toilet didnt flush
So this place has a different atmosphere than the other craft beer spots. Its very trendy, more suited for hipsters. The beer selection is good, and there is a good variety of food. They also have good coffee and Expresso.
Beers were delicious, we especially liked the Half n half, and the story that went with it. The people working were passionate about the place and seem to have a lot of drive to see the brewery/coffee house succeed. Space was open and light and the music was clearly curated by the staff. Good vibes and good beer!
Beers are really good. I wish there was some additional knowledge about their beers as they are a little different than most. Id go back for sure.
Cozy friendly atmosphere early on weekend morning, with delicious quality food and coffee. Also a fun hang for an evening with some great, locally produced beers (cider also on tap!). Run by an amazing punny-dads staff.Highly recommend stopping here for a seasonal drink (available to go in CANS and a 32oz bottle), a specialty latte, or some delicious roasted coffee beans.
The beer may be called Turn Down, but make no mistake, this place turns tf up
