A+ experience. Getting an engagement ring was a long process, and I was not impressed by most of the big retailers.Some were pushy or unfriendly, or had that used-car salesman approach. Others were nice and knowledgeable, but the prices were exorbitant and customization was limited because they had designs from specific, high-profile designers.Diamond Exchange was the best blend of all the positives without the negatives, as long as youre OK with it being a smaller store in an understated location. Justin was fantastic to work with. Very patient, knowledgeable, friendly and fair. Their designer may not have a famous name, but his work was spectacular and actually once I gave the thumbs up on the 3-D model, the ring was finalized very quickly.They also buy/appraise and even bought some older gold rings we didnt want anymore at a slightly better price than local pawn shops.At a minimum, if youre considering buying/designing jewelry, pay these guys a visit and see how you feel walking out compared to when you leave some of the usual suspects. After going to multiple jewelry and diamond stores searching for an engagement ring I was just about to give up. The research I did online was not adding up to the prices I was receiving and I was becoming very frustrated with pushy salesman and pressure to finance and open up a line of credit with their store. I was so thankful to have found and stopped in to Diamond Exchange USA. They were so nice, helpful and patient throughout the entire process. I walked in, told them what I was looking for, gave them my budget and within 15 min we found exactly what I was looking for. I picked the ring up the next day...a diamond set in a band overnight I was amazed. Katie was the one helping me the entire time and was so knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. When first looking at diamonds she did not show me anything I couldnt afford, did not bring out some fancy light that only diamond stores have to show me all the details that are invisible to the naked eye, and best of all did not ask for my social security number to open up a line of credit or how I was to finance something I couldnt afford. Straight and to the point, after I had picked a diamond she then showed me the details of that specific diamond. If it were not for Diamond Exchange USA and Katie I probably would not be happily married right now...Im not kidding. I contacted several different companies that buy and sell gold in Washington DC. Prior to calling each, I read up on how much you should receive as a fair price for 10, 14, 18 karat scrap gold per gram. I was surprised at how dumb the people at the shops that buy and sell gold play when you call on the phone. They refuse to give prices until you visit them. There were many loose diamonds I was able to choose from for an engagement ring and I worked with Justin and a lady whos name escapes me, but they were very helpful and informative. The place smells like cigarettes and the staff didnt even greet us when we walked in to look around. I would definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere. The selection is also extremely small and limited.

They are scammers, self serving and will take advantage of anyone that allows them. I took my 1.59 carat diamond to them which I paid $10 grand for. The appraiser was patronizing and said I overpaid for my diamond. According to him, I was taken . Then he proceeded to appraise my diamond at $3K and stated, he would ...throw in $400... because he felt bad for me. I sent my diamond to Diamond Buyers International and was given $5,400.00. You be the judge

I found this business online and because of the good reviews, called to see if they buy 22K gold. The call was professional and the person confirmed they do. I went there a couple of days later to sell three pieces of jewelry that I dont care for.One of the guys came out and attended to me. He took my jewelry inside and came out with one total offer for all three pieces - no breakdown of the weight, price per unit weight, nothing. When I asked for the breakdown, he went to another guy sitting behind him and I later learned that was Keith, the owner. Keith was very brash and questioned from his seat what is it that I was looking for. When I explained I just wanted to understand how they arrived at that price point, he said very rudely that its take it or leave it and hes allowed to make 10% to 15% on the sale and when I go to buy a car if I ask for a breakdown. I agreed hes allowed to make whatever he thinks is good for his business, but he should offer a breakdown of individual pieces with weight info and the unit price since I am not buying a car. Then the first guy went back and weighed again and the new offer was $150 more approx. Very shady! And this guy kept staring at me and my ID through the whole transaction! Half of this time, Keith was also talking loudly on the phone and chuckling about how he couldnt stop watching the TV on election night till 3am just to see the facial expressions on MSNBC when HRCs supporters were being asked to go home, etc. etc.I wonder if Keith understands me and my friends / family could have been a potential long term customer who could also be interested in buying jewelry there? And that buying and selling should be treated the same if he offers both services as his business is making money off of both?Keith acted very professionally with a customer that was interested in buying something when I just got there (standing at the counter, making eye contact, speaking gently, and answering all questions with a smile).

Over the past few years, I have gone to the Diamond Exchange multiple times to sell some jewelry, including gold and estate pieces, that I was never going to wear. In addition to the highly professional atmosphere and super friendly service, I was given excellent prices for the pieces I sold (and I was also given honest advice to not sell a few pieces of silver because it wouldnt be as good of a value for me- and I appreciated the honesty). In December I was in the market for a new diamond eternity band and went to Mervis and Boones to look/get pricing. When I went to the Diamond Exchange to get a repair done, I discovered that they also make/sell new jewelry and Justin showed me the most beautiful 2-carat diamond eternity band. The diamonds were very high quality, equal to Mervis and Boones quality, yet the price was about half! I was overjoyed and purchased my beautiful diamond band from the Diamond Exchange! I couldnt be any happier - my experience was seamless and I will be a repeat customer for sure!

I am very disappointed because I left my engagement ring to be resized and they told me it would be ready about 4:30. Since it is Friday of the 4th of July weekend, I asked if they were going to stay open till 6 and the guy I was working with said yes. (I only asked because the UPS guy came in and asked another employee who also responded yes) I said I would be back before 6 and I had to ask if they wanted my name and phone number in case they needed to contact me and the guy filled out the claim slip with my name and number. I get back there just before 5 and they are closed until Tuesday. They didnt call me or anything. I am going to a 4th of July party, where all friends are going to want to see my ring. I went to the business next door to see if I could find out the name of the owner to call them and get them back to the store. My only hope is that they get an immediate email of this review and are willing to call me and meet me at the store before Tuesday. I understand these things happen, but this all happened within a two hour period. How can you forget someone is coming right back?UPDATE: Owner called within 2 hours of me leaving the store. He was back there and called me to say it was complete and I could come to the store to get that evening. He had an emergency with his son. He was very helpful and accommodating and I am very happy with their work!! I will return to see about them designing my wedding band. They do custom work.

Received my original diamond engagement/wedding ting from Mrs Grimes over 25 yrs ago. When I lost my ring 2 years ago, I reached back out to Mrs Grimes to recreate/replace my ring. We worked and create an even more beautiful set! Anytine I need service I contact Mrs Grimes and there is no problem. Today, I dropped in to have my ring cleaned while st hair appt. The uoung lady who helped me, said it would take 30 mins for machine to be ready, I told her no problem since I had anotjer appt 1 block away! I asked/comfirmed the closing time, assured her I would be back by 5, left my phone number and name. I started calling the shop at 4:38 and answering machine stated they were CLOSED!!!!! I came right over, thinking they had shut the phone lines down and were still there, the OPEN sign was still on! I knocked on the window, I called and called, left a message noting the time, I drove to the back to see if perhaps someone was there ......NOBODY!!! Im leaving for vacation MONDAY ......! I too, hope the managers are notified of emails posting on this site and will reach out and call me! If uou need my number, please call Mrs Grimes. Not happy this time 😕
