I just received a guitar I ordered online from Germany. I easily made a scheduled appointment online for it to be set up to drop c. Ryan greeted me and we quickly discussed the tuning and how long it would take to complete. A half hour later, Ryan called me to inform me everything was ready to go. Every now and then, you get your guy someone who you go to no matter what. Some people have their barber or stylist. Some have a trusty mechanic. For guitars, Ryan is the guy. I had friend swear by him, so Ive got a bass and a guitar set up by him last month and they feel fantastic. No regret! The man is good at what he does and easy to talk to.

So a couple years back, my dad accidentally knocked over my Gibson Les Paul and the headstock/neck completely split. Ryan performed repairs, painted, and lacquered (Im guessing) the guitar so well that if my dad hadnt told me what happened, I would have had no idea. The action on the guitar is BETTER than it was before it broke. Turns out that the damage to the guitar turned out to be a positive after Ryan worked on it. Unfortunately, I cant find pictures of the guitar before the split but will definitely post them if I can find them as theyre somewhere on an old phone.

Excellent shop. Ryan is a friendly, knowledgeable and skilled repairman who does first rate work. I had a dead pick-up replaced on my guitar and Ryan did a great job of helping me find a pickup that would pair well with my other one. He also did a nice setup job along with the repair. Ryan at Rising Sun Guitars did a neck reset on an old acoustic tenor guitar of mine and I couldnt be happier. He explained the plan, sent me pictures of the progress, did some additional minor fixes, made custom action adjustments for me after it was finished, and delivered it all on time as promised and at a reasonable cost. I happily and highly recommend Rising Sun Guitars. I have already taken another instrument to him (acoustic baritone uke needing a crack repair) based on my positive experience.

Rising Sun guitars is the only place I take my basses and guitars for setups and other things that I don’t trust myself to do. Ryan recently installed some P94 pickups in a Gibson les Paul for me and did a really great job with attention to detail. He also performed a neck reset on my vintage Yamaha acoustic that saved its life. He maintains a professional and relaxed environment with fast turnaround times and good value/ quality of work.

I bought a cheap guitar that was in need of a setup, so I found Rising Sun Guitars online and easily booked an appointment for the next weekday using their website. Ryan was very professional and called me to confirm my appointment. I told him what I wanted done, and true to his word, Ryan was able to set up my guitar in 30-40 minutes, during which I went to the nearby shopping center to look around. I tested my newly adjusted guitar and found the action and intonation improved. The best part is that if I decide within 30 days that I want further adjustments, I can simply give Ryan a call. Ryan is a great guy to work with with. I’ve had guitar work done by a bunch of luthiers in the area. Ryan is my favorite. He does quick but quality work. He also understands and embraces the tinkerer mindset of many guitarists who are looking to modify and do something more unique with the guitars. Ryan is an exceptional tech, and a quality person to boot. Ryan recently rebuilt my 79 Mk 1 Rhodes which had been suffering many age related failures with the electronics. I had asked Ryan to go through the whole keyboard, and he communicated with me along the process with replacing parts and upgrading components where nessecary. He also re-leveled the key bed and tested capacitors and such for proper resistance and voltages. He also identified pickups that were not of original spec and replaced those as well. The keyboard sounds like a brand new Rhodes, the key action is totally on point and I couldnt be happier with the whole process. Ryan was extremely fair with his pricing as well; next time I need some music equipment worked on Ryan will be my first choice. Keep up the great work Ryan and thanks again!

I contacted Ryan to have my guitar restrung. It’s my first guitar and I haven’t learned to do it myself yet. Ryan got back to me promptly and was so kind about it! He promised to have it done in an hour. I was able to drop off my guitar (he came out to get it) and go run an errand. True to his word it was done in an hour. When I returned he brought my guitar out to me and explained what strings he used and why based on what I’d told him. It was a wonderful experience. Ryan swapped out the pickups in my Jackson AT-1T for new Tom Brantley split PAFs, and also installed a Duesenberg trem system. It sounds like a whole new guitar! And even though hes not the nearest luthier to me, hes definitely the most professional and engaging. 10/10. Would recommend.
