Super nice guy working out of his home. Gave me a working set up on my brand new Taylor 314ce. Very knowledgeable guy; he told me about what to expect with higher end models and their relationship with humidity. Also offers 30 day adjustment period if the guitar acclimates beyond acceptable tolerances once established to my ambient home temperature/humidity.It was actually insane how different the guitar felt after the necessary post manufacturing adjustments were made. I’ll be using his services again very soon.

Daniel was absolutely fantastic to deal with! Knowing nothing about Daniel, I was very forward with him in the beginning that I had reservations about trusting him to repair my 35th Anniversary PRS Custom 24. He was very responsive and quick to send me pictures of his past work and it reassured me that he was the right man for the job. When dealing with him in person, he was very friendly, honest with what could or ahould be repaired and professional about it. Needless to say, I felt very comfortable after our exchange. When I recieved my guitar back, I was 100% satisfied with his crafsmanship. He is an artist! You could barely tell anything had happened.I have to add that his daughter is absolutely adorable☺️. She was like his sidekick and seemed to want to help Dad with all that he was doing.I took the guitar to get it appraised after that and they didnt even notice the guitar was ever damaged. I later sold it and explained the past damage to the buyer. He didnt seem to care and wouldnt have noticed unless I told him.

I was a first-time user of Xu Strings recently and brought a Martin D16GT acoustic with a nasty headstock crack. Daniel took great care of my guitar and made it basically good as new. I also had him set up the guitar and it plays like butter. His turnaround time was reasonable and his price was more than fair. Daniels latest work on my Les Paul typifies his excellence and underscores why I am rating his business with five stars. Like many players, I tone chase and wanted to change my pickups. Daniel took note of the kinds of sounds that I was hoping to achieve. Since he is very knowledgeable about an array products, I benefited from his concrete suggestions. As far as the work itself, everything was wired cleanly and looks tidy. He got the guitar back in my hands in less than a week! I went home, plugged in, and the guitar sounds amazing. Daniel was incredibly professional. I asked if he did amp repair services and he truthfully told me he did not but offered to take a look at it for free to see what was up as he does basic repairs for amps. The amp repair needed was out of his expertise, but he quickly referred me to someone else. Incredibly responsive and super chill dude. I will be using Daniel in the future for guitar setups and other guitar repairs.

Xu Strings is very meticulate and precise. He has a great eye for small details in your guitar. He can do virtually anything you want with your guitar, whether its a setup, coil-splitting, repairs, a custom switch, etc. Rates are very competitive compared to other places, and turnaround time is very quick. Daniel is everything you could ask for in guitar repair.I had very complex set of modifications and Daniel was happy to discuss every detail both in-person and over email. I found he would both give good advice and be open-minded to unconventional modifications.My order included a stainless steel refret and I am quite happy with the quality of the work.Nice guy too. There are some other great luthiers in Maryland but I found Daniel to be the easiest to work with.

Found this place on Google, went straight there to fix my bass, and got satisfied with how Daniel (the owner) deals with me. I asked him, can I get my bass fixed and pick up at the same day, because I live like an hour driving from his shop, he took it right away and fixed it just under 30 minutes. Recommended for anyone who want to fix their gears, or simply upgrade them.

Daniel did an excellent job repairing my precious old Epiphone Guitar. The bridge had come off, and he reglued it and restrung it for me for a very reasonable price, and in good time. It has stayed glued for a long time now, and I would recommend his work very highly.

Daniel took on a tricky challenge with my 1978 hollow body. He installed a new set of humbuckers and pots, adjusted the neck, regrooved the ebony bridge, and set it up perfectly- no feedback, no tuning issues. He had it back to me the next day!! I highly recommend Xu Strings!

My first engagement was nothing short of awesome. Was not getting volume from high E string at 17th fret. Some might say a full setup and call it a day. Daniel took the time to examine the guitar, made some tweaks on the pickup height and tail piece. Bam ! Fixed. Since it was my first time he did not even apply a well deserved payment. Getting back into playing guitar while social distancing in the pandemic, I was looking for someone to help take care of instruments that havent been looked at by someone in a while. I was hoping to find a local luthier I felt comfortable with, and Im glad I found Daniel at Xu Strings.Up front, I can say that Daniel is professional, efficient, detail oriented, and good at communicating about specifics so he can match the instrument to what you have in mind.I started with a basic setup for a 6 string - it was done really quickly, and the instrument feels really good to play.I also put a more challenging job his way. I had a 7 string 25.5 scale guitar with a floyd rose that I did a bad job of wiring new pickups into. It was also a bit of a nightmare to set up into drop G#, given the scale length and the floyd rose. A couple other luthiers that I had called about it in the past didnt seem as comfortable with a less traditional guitar, but Daniel was up for the job. He is very comfortable working with string tension which was important given the extended range/trem/low tuning I wanted, and is also good at figuring out on-the-fly adjustments (locking nuts previous owner left me with actually didnt fit perfectly - who would have known? He discussed options with me, then made modifications as discussed). As a cherry on top, he actually finished this job within the week I handed the guitar to him, at a very fair price. The instrument plays great, and I am happy this guitar is finally getting a chance to play up to its potential.I think the review speaks for itself, but I highly recommend working with Daniel if you want a reliable and detail-oriented luthier - your instruments will be in good hands with him.

Took my guitar into guitar center for a pickup replacement only for my guitar to sound way worse than before I brought it in. Took it to XU strings and not only got the pickups installed correctly but a bunch of other hardware and cosmetic adjustments that just made it purr.
