The staff is very kind, helpful, and professional. This is my first choice hardware store. They have everything that I need.

Used to go to another place on basswood. Changing to Elkins. WHY? Felt comfortable when I walked in the door, cleaner, better arrangement of product, needed help and did not feel as if I was a problem. Checkout was easy, friendly cashier. Maybe you should check them out.

If by chance they don’t have what you need they can sure get it in for you or point you in the direction of somebody that will.Everyone is super nice and helpful. They are very much in to helping you find what you need or just letting you shop around inside the store.I have always seen the employees treat everyone with the utmost of respect regardless of where you are from or how you look.This is a rare gem where everyone’s money is the same color and they will treat you right because of it.Stop here before you hit the big box stores. I like this store and have been a customer for a very long time. I had several questions but there wasnt anyone to ask. They seemed to be too busy doing other things. I thought one guy was an employee but he was a customer also. Me and my young son walked the whole store but was never asked if we needed help. I hope the items I bought will do the job.

Theyve had what weve needed for our mower and for other things. They have helpful people available. This year we used the weed and feed stuff from there and it did way better than any we have ever used from the bigger stores. Theyve got lots of different fresh coffee beans to enjoy. They will ground them for you. I love the snickerdoodle coffee.

I only give this because they didnt have a part we needed for a french drain forcing us to buy from big corporations instead of funding local ma and pa shops. Other than that the staff is super friendly and willing to help.

Great place to find “hard to find” items and sizes. Obie was fantastic and really helped me find what I needed. He spent the time to make sure I found exactly what I needed and made sure it fit and I was happy before checking out.Can’t say enough about how great the service is here.

This place has a great selection of bolts and screws to get the job done. I needed some gas line for my lawn equipment and they had that in bulk too. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The best service anywhere

Went in on Monday to buy a chain saw, I paid $260.00 and it wouldnt start. Called Elkins for some support at 6:05 placed on hold for 10 min., after I explained my situation, then was told the manager was busy, placed on hold until 6:30, then told they were closed and I needed to call back tomorrow.Very disappointed in staff and management.Update:Thank you for your quick response Chris, and for the upgrade at the same price. I will definitely chalk this one up to the circumstances we are currently experiencing. Thanks too your morning staff for all their help.

I enjoy the smaller store and it usually has what I need. I even found coffee at this store. They have a good supply of grilling and camping items, yard decor, food for the birds and lawn maintenance. Elkins is a decent hardware store.

So I just went to Elkins to get some string for my weed eater. The total came up to $5.40. So instead of using my check card I gave the cashier $6 in cash. The cashier actually checked my $5 bill to see if was counterfeit. I even asked the cashier are people actually counterfeiting $5 Bills because usually its a $20 bill. The true tragedy here is I had just priced a really nice edger in there for $300.00 which I planned on buying. However I would not feel comfortable giving my money to a store that insulted me like they did today. Im willing to bet no white customer whos come in that store using cash has ever had their money checked to see if it was counterfeit, let alone a $5 bill..

I went in today to buy exterior paint (1st time!). I had the absolute best, friendly and informative customer service experience from Staff Layton and Weston! As a single female this was so important to me. I’ve driven pass this store for 16 years!! Not anymore! 💞

Driving gown Saginaw Blvd, husband said he had wondered if this store carried any above ground pools. So we stopped. He went in. He came out upset at how he was treated for wanting to do business with this company if they had what we were looking for. He said the person who addressed him was very rude - saying no they don’t carry any swimming pools OR anything associated with pools. My husband said he had wanted to stop by as he had known some hardware stores that have carried those and was told “Well then I suggest you go try those places then!”Hometown feel? Nope! Won’t be inquiring here for any of our needs ever again.

Offers propane refills but charges a flat rate for each size tank, so if your tank isn’t empty you are paying for more than you actually get. Pretty shady. Don’t get ripped off here or waste your time.

Elkins hardware is top notch on service. Ive been in before with my sthl trimmer. All my questions were answer with great knowledge and kindliness. Today I went in with questions and problems with my mower and was greeted by many employees to help find my answer and the best solution. From now on this will be my stop for all my hardware and lawn service needs. Great service and friendly and good prices.

I went in to price a Big Green Egg. They were eager to help, but not in a pressured uncomfortable way. They were also kind enough to mention a sale they were going to have in a few months... I wouldnt hesitate to shop at this hometown hardware store. I certainly appreciated the feel of the store and the assistance I received.

Called asking if they could cut a key that I provided myself. The person on the phone said yes he could do it for $3.50. I had three keys to cut, so thats $10 roughly before tax. Got there and an older man said (rudely) that he couldn’t do it because they’re “losing money” because their car keys are $69.99. Either way they lost a sale. Shame. I love supporting local business but I was very disappointed.

Great place to grab some of the things you cant find in a big box store. Prices are sometimes comparable and sometimes a little higher than big box, just depends on the item. It is a friendly place and you can always find the help you need.

Just bought a chainsaw from them. Great service! Took the time to asssist me in picking the right one without pushing the most expensive. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to be able to shop here more often instead of other bigger stores. Unfortunately they are on average 30% more expensive on all the products I went there for. 5/10% more expensive would be fine since its local. Not 30% my most recent experience I was there about 30 minutes before they closed, after being there for 15 minutes they shut off the lights to the area I was standing. Just dont seem like they actually care to provide good customer service.Very meh, will only buy here if I absolutely have to.

Been doing business with them 26 years. Usually in there 2-3 times a week. Excellent service. I amazes me how they the nearly always have whatever I need. Competitive pricing. I do wish they were open Sunday when I do a lot of projects but thats not a huge inconvenience when I plan ahead. I am hugely disappointed they stopped carrying the premium dog food I have always bought there but I found a feed store a couple miles away that has it. They still get 5 Stars because Im not gonna let 1 aww-shucks! wipe out 4,056 atta-boys!

The driver of their company truck is lying to the insurance saying I hit their truckMr Elkins owns “Elkins Hardware” AND “Elkins Steel llc”. Either way the driver works for one of the two companies and hit me and is lying to insurance. So Mr. Elkins should know that his HR department is hiring dishonest liars to represent his company.

Brought my Toro mower in for a tune up and to have my belt and self propeled cable replaced. Although i could have done the work myself the pricing was fair and they did a fantastic job. Vic was very knowledgeable about not only my mower, but also the other equipment i use both Echo and Stihl.The store is well stocked with items that i usually need at competitive pricing. I much prefer to shop there than the big box stores. The staff is friendly and make you feel as if you are part of their family. Great place to shop.
