Ive been taking my Tacoma here for a little over a year now and always have had a great experience. My truck is getting older and is starting to need more regular maintenance and parts replaced. The guys at Lok are always very helpful - they are great at explaining what needs to be fixed and getting everything done quickly. Their prices are super fair as well. Plus, there is almost always a dog (or several) there to greet you. Overall an awesome shop.

This is a great locally operated shop. Trust is everything when it comes to auto maintenance and in my experience with this team, I can tell they have integrity. As someone that doesnt have the technical knowledge, theyre very patient and communicative about repairs, and best of all they offer a fair price.

I have taken my car into Lok three times and two were for changing to and from winter tires. The last time we had them change out our winter tires with our regular ones, instead of putting on the new tires we bought from Costco six months earlier they might have unintentionally exchanged them with a brand I have never heard of that were made in 2013.We found that out when the steering wheel started shaking when we were out of town. We took it in to a shop and they said one of the tires was about to blow, we thought that was odd as they were new. So we took it to a Costco thinking since we bought them for Costco they could just replace them. The auto tech took one look at them and stated they do not sell that brand so they cannot replace the tire. I have to say I was furious at the time.I would advise if you have gone there in the past to go somewhere else and have them check of the car is ok.

After getting a $500 quote from Ken Garff Honda to have my front brakes and rotors done I decided to bring my Honda Pilot to these guys for a second opinion. They did a thorough inspection and said that I really only needed the pads replaced not the rotors. $190 later I had some fresh new brakes on my car.Also these guys were wearing masks when I went in, nice to see a business adhering to COVID guidelines. To be fair they didnt have their masks on when I went to pick up my car but meh its better than Ken Garff Hondas army of maskless employees.

I have never posted an online review before, but Lok Automotive went so far beyond any other repair shop I gotta give them a shout: they are amazing. My van broke down in SLC, and they got it up and running despite being slammed with work. They met me during off hours so I could pick it up. And their merch is amazing. Big shout to Max, and if you got car trouble in SLC, go to Loks on State St!

After Jiffy Lube almost ruined my car by draining my transmission fluid instead of my oil during an oil change, I brought my car to Lok to get it fixed. They had a quick turnaround and were thorough in their inspection, making sure there were no further issues caused by the Jiffy Lube mistake.Even though their specialty is Japanese motors, I would take any car there if you need a good mechanic.

Great service, 10/10 would recommend. If youre not covered with dealership warranty. DONT pay dealership prices. Competitive pricing, honest estimates on cost and time.

These guys who have been mechanics for a number of years really stepped up the game. No idea what was wrong with my car, had an idea and they went ahead and practically checked the whole car. Gave me some updates and other issues that might arise later but nothing detrimental. Fixed what needed to be fixed. Seemed like Max & Jon worked on my car, they explained all the questions I had and more! Super relaxed placed, their dogs hanging around the shop yet professional and will tell you straight forward whats going on. Obviously Ill be going back when needed, definitely highly recommend this place! Thanks you guys

When Blanca (Toyota Taco) first came to me she had some issues, including but not limited to a condition called “pata chueca” (it’s real, look it up). It was clear her previous owner couldn’t locate their vas deferens to save their life. Luckily, I found LOK Automotive, and these pros gave her some rehab and good ol’ tender lovin care. Now, she’s humming like the beaut she was always meant to be. Thanks guys! Also, if there’s ever any concern make sure to talk to their customer care specialists walking throughout the shop.

I think mechanics are like divorce attorneys and used car salesmen. I’ve had the hardest time in my life finding quality mechanics...but they do exist, they’re out there. I’ve been going to my mechanic(not this shop) for a few years now and stumbled upon Lok Automotive. At first I was hesitant because of the price, but they are closer to home and have a bigger shop too. It’s a little more than cheap as far as price, though I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for and I definitely got what I paid for with this shop. They fixed my suspension on my oversized sprinter van. Found an issue and spent good quality man hours fixing it and for that I’m grateful. Added bonus this shop has cute friendly dogs running around. Definitely stoked, definitely!

Lok Automotive is everything you could ask for in a mechanic shop and more! Max and Jon are phenomenal. They go above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service on all levels!They really know their stuff, especially Japanese vehicles such as Toyota, Honda, and Subaru, have transparent and competitive pricing, plus theyre really nice! They take the time to discuss issues with your vehicle with you, break down pricing clearly, and arent condescending or dismissive (something I have encountered all too often as a woman trying to get my car repaired). I really appreciate their straight forward, informative, and practical attitude when it comes to vehicle repairs. They wont tell you that you need a repair if you dont and theyre thorough in their inspections. If there is a repair that is needed they take the time to discuss whether or not it is an immediate repair or something you have time to consider. I really appreciate their low pressure, detailed approach to vehicle maintenance.They offer all services you could need for your vehicle and have access to a wide range of parts, so most repairs can be completed same day or within the week if theyre very busy (which as an exceptional business they certainly are, so be sure to call and schedule your appointment ASAP though they will do their best to accommodate walk-ins too). They also do basic services like oil changes, wiper/light replacement, and smog inspections.So whether you need some major work done on your vehicle or just need an oil change, skip the chain auto repair places and expensive dealerships and support a local, quality business and take your car to Lok Automotive... you wont be disappointed!!

If you need work done, or dont even know what you need done, definitely go to Lok. I am so impressed with the way this shop is run, and how efficient they are in the work they do. I went in to replace an oil pan gasket, and was quoted half the price of two other shops (220 compared to 4-450). That was replaced, oil leak gone. My check engine light came on right after I had the work done. We werent sure if it was due to them replacing the oil pan gasket (although its unlikely, they arent connected or related) or if my O2 sensor had gone bad. They replaced my O2 sensor FREE of charge, no questions asked. They could have charged at least 150. They also helped install a new trunk latch, and do welding/body work. Id definitely recommend this shop. They are very customer-oriented and dont judge! They even remembered me 2-3 weeks after Id originally called in, by name. Which is odd, but they seem to remember a lot of the customers that come in and out, and have more than a couple regulars. Some mechanics are so rude when you call them, and are short with the customer. The mechanics at Lok automotive are genuine, trustworthy, and care about your vehicle. And they have dogs in the office! Bonus

Max and Jon at Lok Automotive squeezed me in before the long weekend so that I could drive back to Colorado on Memorial Day. They did an amazing job fixing up my beloved van, Gertie, and took great care to properly diagnose and inform me of what was going on every step of the way. Not to mention the very sweet, entertaining pups at the shop. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend anyone traveling through or from SLC/PC to stop by whenever you need work done on any vehicle.

I have now had two repairs done at Lok Automotive and these guys are awesome! I really hate going to mechanics because it always feels like they are trying to screw you over but these guys are honest and give a good deal for quality work without trying to upsell you on unnecessary repairs and parts. The last time I went in Jon even spent about 20 minutes explaining what the issue was that theyd fixed just to appease my own curiosity which I found super helpful - I like to know whats going on with my car! Definitely one of the best shops in town.

I took my 2002 Subaru to Lok Automotive and FINALLY found a lifelong mechanic. Ive had bad experiences in the past (who hasnt) and I was TERRIFIED of getting my car fixed. They could have told me anything and I would have believed them. But instead they told me the immediate issues and gave me an unbelievably fair price. They were very thorough - addressing the things that dont need to be fixed urgently, but eventually. On top of everything, Jon secured my bumper, fixed a rattling sound in my exhaust, etc., all at no extra cost. Everyone here is super friendly and I highly recommend this shop.

Max and Jon are solid guys, they always take the time to figure out whats best for my vehicles (Ive taken many in there). They take initiative in making sure everything is running great and the rates are fair.

For the last couple of years, Ive been taking my Subaru to Lok Automotive for oil changes and routine maintenance. The guys at the shop are awesome, and they always do an amazing job. Recently when my car was hit and needed a lot of body work, I dropped it off at Lok Auto and they took care of everything. Jon helped me with the insurance process and I got my Crosstrek back in a timely manner and it looked amazing, like nothing had every happened. It came back fully detailed too! Love these guys.

I went to Lok Automotive, at the recommendation of a friend, because I had an ugly bumper. When I left Lok Automotive I didn’t have an ugly bumper. Everyone there was friendly but the dogs were definitely the friendliest. I would definitely recommend Jon and his crew.

These guys have been really awesome, great communication and I feel that they have been honest and fair and welcoming in my dealings with them.

It is my opinion that a mechanic should never change the price they quoted you, they upped the price 200$. But since they had my car, I needed it, and I never got a physical quote (told me only over the phone) I just went with it. Havent had any issues with the work done yet.

Truth, the shop changed out my clutch and brakes in less than one weeks time. The feel on my new clutch, better than when I first purchased my car (2014 Mazda 3). I was a Lyft and Uber driver at the time in SLC, and so the quick turnover and quality of workmanship was very critical to me, and I was clear with that up front. The work speaks for itself. I can confidently say that I have a mechanic, a real one with Lok. Thank you guys for your professionalism, you are all pros!!!

They got me in same-day when my window broke, got it done super quickly, and have super cute dogs! Definitely recommend!

This is my experience with an oil change at Loks.I brought my own oil (5 qt jug) and filter. I told John that my car takes 4 qts, he nodded and told me hell take care of it, and I took his word for it.I noticed when I got the car back that they didnt return the leftover quart. I didnt bother asking because I figured they threw it. The next morning I was surprised to see my oil level way above the max level (1.5 inches higher when the engine was cold). So I called and Max told me to bring the car back and thell remove the excess oil. Again, I took their word and expected to see my oil level under the max point. Well it wasnt. They only removed around 0.4 qts of the excess quart. I didnt bother coming back again, so I bought a syringe and a hose and siphoned the excess oil out.Overfilling oil is a serious matter and a car mechanic should know the consequences of that, especially when you overfilled by 25%.

I moved to Salt Lake a couple of years ago and have had trouble with a couple of different mechanics -- heard good things about this place, which specializes in Subarus and other Japanese imports. I took my 10+ year old Outback in to have a wheel bearing replaced and the transmission looked at.Jon and co. are great with communication -- when it came to scheduling the appointment, clarifying what I wanted done, and informing me about the diagnosis and fees, Lok was quick and straightfoward. They even emailed me a detailed invoice -- this was nice since there were absolutely no surprises waiting when I went to pick it up (which is a problem Ive had elsewhere). They had the job done well before the time I requested, the problem seems to be solved, and their prices were fair and reasonable.Its nice to have someone who specializes on Subarus work on my car, especially when the pricing is fair and the communication is so good. Im definitely planning on going back.
