Been coming here for years as a hub to do school work and from home work. Great atmosphere and place to just work. Even if you dont buy a drink theres no feeling of being rushed out. Also has one of my favorite Chai in town.
Seriously my favorite spot in all of Salt Lake City! The environment is chill, the people are rad, the coffee is amazing! I wish I would have found out about this place sooner than I did. This is a must stop shop anytime Im in downtown Salt Lake
Let me start off by saying the employees are amazing. Super nice and helpful staff. Unfortunately I had to walk out of the here today because I was being swarmed by flies. This place is filthy and always full of flies. Please do something about this infestation!
Great place to head to after college classes. The music played there makes it easy to study and the coffee is just amazing. Patio makes for an excellent area to catch some fresh air after a long class lecture.
I am BLOWN away by the stupidity of the owner of this location! The owner has this INCREDIBLE asset at his disposal an excellent location and a loyal customer base and its almost like he tries to do EVERYTHING he can to chase us away.Today was the last straw for me. Not only was it dirty and HOT like every single day because this foolish old man just doesnt care if his customers are comfortable but he took down all the BEAUTIFUL paintings that were consigned to him for free! He wont spend a dime on ANYTHING not even to run the AC and then when someone helps improve his miserable facility for free he makes them take it down!I just cant stand the ignorance of this man anymore and I will be taking my business across the street or to the campus cafeteria.
Really good, tragic they keep the ac off or on low. Students and dreamers meet here. Late night hang out. PASTRIES ARE REALLY good! Baklava and Danish place. They have really good loose tea, but dont sell it, :( . You can get great coffee here and by the pound. Parking can be rough but there is an overflow parking lot you can use around back. Owner is really nice.
Solid coffee with friendly staff and plenty of space to lounge or study. Plus super dog-friendly!
Ive tried to make allowance for the laid back vibe and open minded energy of this cafe and friendliness of the staff but some things just cant be overlooked.Today was second occurrence Ive witnessed of an employee bringing an animal/pet behind the service counter. Today one brought in a cat and then places it on the counter-top where sandwiches and other food items are prepped. All kinds of health codes being broken.!!🤢🤢🤮🤮
Cute coffee shop. Nice staff with prompt, polite service. Best cold brew coffee ice had in a long time. Hundred prevent recommend.
Great place for a late night caffeine fix!
Great spot, but the poor girl working was all alone with no help so it took awhile to get our drinks. They should try and hire more employees to help her out! Love this place though and definitely will be back over and over again.
Great place. The biggest draw for me is the hours- stays open pretty late, usually until 3am. Great place to go if you want to go somewhere late at night while everything else is closed. Can get crowded and the bathrooms can get a bit nasty, but thats to be expected. Would definitely come here again.
Coolest coffee shop Ive ever been to...Seen the owner be very rude to his employees. If you read this you need to treat the people who work for you with more respect.
Love this shop. Honestly the prices were good and the quality was great. The only downside to this place was that the bathrooms were a bit sketchy but tolerable and parking was really weird and confusing. Still not sure I parked in the right spot. And you are downtown so a dude getting high in the parking lot then tripping pretty hard on their couch is only to be expected. Not bad! Would recommend!
They are amazing! The staff has always been very friendly so far, and you see all types of people visit throughout the day! If you go to the U it is likely you will run into your classmates since it is so close to the university and a common study spot. But if you’re not a student, they’ll let you paint there as well! Included is a picture of a pumpkin I painted while enjoying their barista-recommended Iced Transylvania- super yummy!
The temperature in this place is disgustingly hot. I think I would be more comfortable in a North Korean sweat shop with an asult rifle pointed at my head.
Salt Lake Coffee Break is what I imagine a Seattle Coffee. house would be like. The staff reminde of Tweeks Father on South Park, and the clientele is about as diverse or eclectic as you can get.So far I have yet to experience a bad Frape. In fact I have to say that their Mocha Frap is the best Ive found in Salt Lake.
Was in search for turkish coffee & baklava and was recommended this place and imso glad!! amazing service and a cozy environment for coffee & a sweet treat. cant wait to come back!
Yo this place is epic! Great seating options for all, I mean PLENTY! Excellent espresso and cappuccino! Menu is bountiful and has something for everyone, even your dog! Free wifi and wall outlets everywhere! This place is great if you need to study, write, think, or just hang out with friends on one of the many comfy couches available! 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone! I will now become a frequent costumer!!!
Good coffee! I had a lavender oat milk latte and loved it.
Friendly barista who was able to offer recommendations. Quick service and nice ambiance!
The coffee quality is extremely poor; but it’s a great place to hang out, especially late at night.
Bob marley Latte was very tasty. Worth trying. Ambience was ok only.
Love the vibe of the shop. however their matcha is very gross. super watery and the flavor was not that of matcha. their coffee is good tho
Best coffee shop in Salt Lake City! The employees are very nice and make me feel welcomed every time.
Salt Lake Coffee Break has a lot of available seating options with wifi that allow you to use a laptop or mobile device. The menu has many well-priced options, so there is something for everyone! The staff member that served us was very attentive and polite. I recommend stopping by this place if you get the chance. My wife and I will definitely come back sometime.
The drinks are passable. The hours are awesome. They stayed up through covid, which I respect quite a bit. Their bathrooms are never worth going near though. I dont hate em, but I dont love em. Locals should try here at least once and give them a fair chance, but not the kind of place someone MUST stop in for. Improve the service a bit and keep a bit cleaner, and they could be worth the 5 stars, but not as it stands.
Awesome employees and atmosphere. Being able to go in and be comfortable while enjoying a nice cup of coffee is refreshing! I wnet there to meet up for a blind date and the atmosphere was perfect for that kind of situation for sure! Overall the best coffee house in Salt Lake City, BY FAR! Oh and there are amazing goodies to go with the amazing coffee! Good Job Coffee Break!
This is by far my favorite spot for Coffee in Salt Lake City. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm and the coffee and food are awesome.
I really like the Van Halen & the Bob Marley, and always like coming here like in my good old school days, always open late!!!
This place was so fun and lively. Everything felt very safe with covid policies in place, but it was still lively with plenty of people without feeling crowded. We went late just for some hot chocolate and to chat and it was the perfect place. The staff was super friendly and so positive. They definitely contributed to the great atmosphere of the place. What a great find downtown.
This is the only coffee shop open after hours in my area, staff is always pleasant and fast.. and my order has always been on point.. solid spot overall
Everything about this place is perfect.Covid has their bathrooms closed until further notice. Masks are required. Also, you can no longer smoke on the front patio.Otherwise, this place is my go to shop in SLC. Theres a Starbucks that went in across the street but these guys take the cake, every time.Park in the back, through the alley or walk here, the city is beautiful on foot. They even sell decks of cards and lighters. They used to sell smokes too but things change. They have lots of local reading material available like Smug too!Rewards cards are available also!
The made my drink wrong ! They gave me skim milk instead of 1/2 & 1/2 . But the location is great and environment is pleasent .
Great coffee and good atmosphere! The staff is nice and they stay open pretty late.
This was such a fun place! Perfect for a coffee date and just to hangout at!
Best chai I have had in the city! The barista was nice. Dog friendly. Great atmosphere, plenty of space even with social distancing. They have everything I need in a great study spot! Thank you guys for your hard work and love, we love you back! I will definitely be a regular here
Great local business. Speedy service even whenits busy. Friendly staff. No bathrooms due to covid. Awesome chai latte!
Great place for studying. Love that its open late!
This place has a great atmosphere and great coffee! Although because its so popular it can get busy and orders can take a long time. The wifi there is blazing fast @ 15.3MBps. I Highly recommend this place if youre a college student!
Always friendly and professional staff— always displaying outstanding kindness and great service. The atmosphere is made all the more comfortable by the baristas (yes, all and every one). I know there’s always a place where I can go for some sweet small talk and a cozy space.
London Fog. Order one as large as possible. A lavender milk tea. Went in for a strong coffee the other morning but saw lavender syrup on the counter... of course I must return for tea time.
It’s been long enough that the bathrooms are closed “because of Covid”. I was told by one of the baristas to go to Walgreens to use the restrooms. We went to smiths only to have the door shut in our faces for them to say “we’re closed”. Then we went to Walgreens and got scolded at by the manager over there for attempting to use the restrooms. All of this just because they won’t open their bathrooms? They won’t open their bathrooms to save money, they won’t have to clean, and it’s for the people to leave while more spots become available so others can come and recycle through bringing in more business. Not to mention, it’s literally a health department violation for them to have their bathrooms closed. It’s an illegal tactic they’re doing.
My wife and I love the coffee break it is our main homework hangout. The place is super chill and the coffee is usually really good. Their chia is fantastic.
I had a Turkish coffee and an iced tea here and both of them were like religious experiences for me. The batista was super kind and there were definitely appropriate social distancing guidelines
Open on Thanksgiving. Bathrooms were both closed because of people stealing the keys. I suggest to clean the place up. Kind of dirty in my opinion. If they would fix the place up internally it would be better. Open late so college hangout for sure. Starbucks is across the street. If you dont like their coffee. Quaint front patio.
I love their turkish coffee and baklava its soo yummy!!!!!!!
Definitely a decent spot to sip and chill. Seems they don’t treat their baristas too well though. I feel bad for them
Favorite spot for a quick cup or a study session.Be sure to try the Bob Marley. Its a favorite.
Ive been coming here for years. Its downtown, its spacious, lots of variety in terms of beverages and food/snacks, and its got its own culture. The baristas are very friendly and helpful.
Love the matcha!
Coffee Break is like the quintessential Salt Lake City coffee shop. Great drinks, huge space, and wonderful baristas. Lily was my barista the other day and she is so sweet and I hope to see her again!
This place has space for days so dont stress about needing 6 feet. During the warmer months the outside patio is ace, its great for people strolling down 4th south watching. I dig how they always feature some obscure local artist on one odd wall in the back. This joint might take my first place for best iced Chai in the city. + legendary public bathrooms to boot so dont set the key down in the wrong spot or they wont be for long, friends.
Hip hang out for students and professionals alike. Cool vibe too!
Very Kind & Welcoming!
A chill place 2 enjoy so me time
The perk of this place is the space to study. Its large enough that usually (if youre alone) you can find a spot to drink your coffee and study. Also, the baristas are generally welcoming. As far as the quality of their coffee and food goes, SL Coffee Break falls short. One, Im fairly certain their whipped cream is really whipped topping- not cream. I know whipped topping is a great option for vegans, but it typically contains ingredients I dont want to consume. I asked the barista if they had real cream or the fake stuff; she said it was real, I tasted it, definitely whipped topping. Minus 1 star. Two, their macarons looked tasty and I was expecting them to be sourced locally, but nope- theyre from Costco (according to the barista). Minus 1 star. Three, the coffee was okay; I did get a nice kick from it that helped me study, but body was lacking as well as flavor. All in all, for the price you pay for an iced coffee here, youre better off going to other local coffee shops that source their ingredients from local vendors rather than large corporations like Costco.
Great place/ atmosphere! Stays open late which is hard to find in utah. Chill place to hangout or study!
This is my favorite coffee shop. Most of the baristas are super friendly & always remember my order. They have a loyalty program, good food, and its a great place to meet with friends, get some work/homework done, or just take some time out by myself! Thanks Coffee Break! My only beef is I wish they had drinks larger than 20 oz!
One of the best places downtown to get coffee. Ive been going here for years and tried most everything on the menu. Staff is always friendly and kind and very very fast. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great drinks. Queer friendly. Highly recommended
Barista made me chocolate milk even though it wasnt on the menu
Consistently my favorite coffee shop.
Coffee was good but it was my first time there and they don’t really tell you to wait for your coffee and just turn around and expect you to get the message.
Grate place and nice people 👌🏽 super friendly
Great service with reasonably priced drinks and a very nice environment. I definitely recommend for anything from quiet study to a social gathering (covid friendly).
No available bathroom. They blame covid. Nobody said shut down the bathroom to stop the spread.
It has not changed in 15 years at least. It is the same couches and everything. Very chill vibe and great selection, friendly staff. Glad I got to revist after years of having not been in awhile since college!
Im so glad theres a coffee place that is open until late on Sundays! Their house are amazing as they are open until 1am as far as I know even on Sundays. I ordered a breve chai and was afraid it was going to turn out watery and bitter as a lot of coffee shop chais do, but was very surprised and relieved to know it was smooth, creamy and slightly sweet. Very delicious. This is a nice place to come get homework done or just chill with a friend. They also have some desserts like cheesecake sometimes.
Love the environment and the employees they are taking care of everything and still taking care of the community through the troubling times. The manger cares and protects the people and loves to help.
My absolute favorite coffee shop. The best vibe in the city by far. The drinks leave something to be desired but thats not why I go to coffee break. I go there to study and hang out with friends and have a good time. They do have great Turkish coffee.Overall, youre gonna have a good time here.
It is A great place for coffee and people watching.
Pre-pandemic wouldve been 5 stars. But their bathrooms have been out-of-order ever since they reopened. Not sure how covid is blamed for not having working bathrooms for almost 7 months but it makes it so its hard to set up shop there and work for long stretches of time.Maybe fix your bathrooms and then customers can justify spending more money for staying longer?
Love the coffee here the People Are Awesome. One of the best cups of coffee that I have had in a long time absolutely delicious thank you so much 100% recommend this place also have some really great muffins and just other food thats really good as well definitely check them out parking is a little cramped and it is behind the building but its worth every cent and its worth your time to go
Love local coffee shops! Theres a lovely girl who works on the weekend, oh does she know her coffee. She picks my flavors for my iced breve every weekend! Love it!
Loved the music and orange. I love orange
Nice little spot to do homework with Wi-Fi and electric plugs and tables
I love it here. Staff is so great and love the setup. Drinks are great and I love that its open late.
Great coffee and nice baristas, just dont go if youre in a hurry. Total Great local vibe, the baristas know everyone therfore it could take some time to get your order. 15 minutes for a latte? Ill support local over Starbucks but wont go here unless Im there for a mellow coffee date. PS No restrooms if youre staying too long.
Amazing atmosphere. Compared to other coffee shops this one closes late at night. Great place to do homework and their Italian sodas are delicious as hell.
Good coffee and food, cool atmosphere but it’s not the cleanest of places.
Perfect place for turkish coffee. Good stuff
The atmosphere here is nice, although the building is a bit rundown. The bathrooms are a little sketchy (when theyre open - they havent been for quite some time) but Im not sure theres much for that considering the location, unless the owner wanted to put in many hours on a daily basis. The art is nice and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have many outlets which makes it a great place to work from. There are a few other coffee shops in the area, but it seems like many are filled with upper class hipster types, whereas this place has always had a more diverse crowd. You get the college students, but you also get groups of middle eastern men playing cards at a table. There are plenty of customers and the place stays pretty busy. The drinks are ok. The baristas have to be instructed to remake drinks for me from time to time, which is not a problem at any other coffee shop I go to. Theyre always happy to do it though, so its just a small inconvenience if anything. They serve food (mostly sandwiches), snacks, and some desserts that I cant get at other coffee shops (like Baklava).I worked here close to ten years ago, and its where I met my husband. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. The owner has never changed - hes a semi gruff middle eastern man, but he has a good heart and is someone I look forward to seeing when I go.Overall, its probably the best coffee shop for those looking for somewhere with plenty of seating or those working from a computer. Its not my favorite for coffee drinks, but thats personal preference. I would definitely recommend visiting.
