I met a friend at Sugar House Coffee, and it was enjoyable, but kindof a strange ordering process. We were staying there, but we had to order outside at the drive-thru window, and then our coffees were ultimately delivered to a come-and-get-it table inside the restaurant. Now I called the process strange, but I certainly dont fault anyone, nor did I mind at all. It is simply how Sugar House Coffee is managing Covid, and I for one am glad theyre being proactive with the virus by having a definitive policy. The coffees were certainly very good. Only reservation I can think of is the limited indoor seating. But overall a cool, neighborhood place, and Ill be back.
Went for coffee (obviously) which was great but the best part was the vegan gluten free blueberry muffin. It was to die for! Can’t wait to try more of their breakfast dishes :)
Super cute place thats quite well hidden in my opinion. Store is not open for inside sit down but theres outdoor seating and theres 1 window to order from (drive through window) which confused my friend and I so waiting in lines along with cars was interesting. Awesome workers! Masks required (thank you!) And just overall cute. Park in back if youre gonna park ha dont park in front because if a line forms good luck getting out 0.o
I love this place, and think they are doing a great job of keeping everyone safe during covid. Line can be long, so save yourself some time and order online for pickup. Then you avoid the line, and get to wait in the shade. Their food is tasty, fresh, and interesting. They have unique items, such as the pesto, egg, feta and spinach pita for breakfast. I love the variety.
Very nice environment, got an oat milk latte and the milk was steamed very well compared to other places
Their food and drinks are good, and the staff is always friendly. I love this coffee shop.
Super duper delicious coffee. The only thing I dont like about the place is that I feel old and out of touch because I look like I shower daily and dont wear my cousin Kendalls 90s clothes. But who cares, they are nice and the coffee is fab and the walk-up window is pretty great. Love the BTVS tattoo on the gal at the window!
Had the hulk and the spicy chicken sandwich. Both were spectacular I loved the perfect toppings of spicy and creamy. Went there for the first time to talk about crypto and blockchain with a friend and had a great experience. The girl that helped me made a dracula reference I shared my benji save the puppies for my name glad I could get some laugher out :) I will definitely be going back and spreading the word!
Sugar house coffee saw me through my undergrad and graduate school. I spent many late nights there doing homework and meeting awesome people. The coffee and food are quality. The employees always seem to love being there and create a great atmosphere. I live in Orem now and am unable to visit much, but I took a friend out the other day and was glad to see it was the same as the old days.
Nothing bad to say about this spot. Great location near the sugarhouse center and great coffer and food and good vibes. Cool people too. Ive had many a fond memories here.
I ordered the fully loaded bulletproof coffee and added their chaga mix (a little sugar free sweetness). Definitely less bitter then straight black coffee, but a little flavorless considering all it is coffee, butter and THC oil. It was delicious, drinkable, and Ill definitely get it again! I also tried their golden milk tea and added a pint of sugar free vanilla sweetener. It was also very good and totally satisfied my cravings! Overall a little pricey, but decent considering their variety of sugar free and healthy options for their coffee and teas. I love this little shop, I cant wait until they re-open their lobby!
The Pros: Great location. Great food. Great coffee. Personable and friendly staff that actually make you feel like youre a person and not just another number to be served and sent on your way. Queer friendly. The Cons: theyre still not open for indoor seating. Salt Lake City has been opened back up for weeks now. The covid numbers remain in double digits and ICU/hospital admissions are effectively nil. Our vaccination regimen is on point and going strong. These numbers are reflective of any well managed virus out there. I cannot fathom why they are remaining closed and having their customers order from an outside window in 100-plus temperatures under these circumstances.Im not sure what the owner/management is thinking. But either way if you go here give the workers a good tip. They go the extra mile.
I do love coming to study at this place—they have a great vibe but I’m not a big fan of the new process where have to stand in line outside and order at the window before you can go into coffee shop and grab a table—Especially like today where it’s pouring rain outside.
Incredible spot. I could write an incredibly long review raving about everything I liked. Let’s be honest, you won’t read it! So if you’ve cone this far- congrats!I recommend the Cuban revolver iced with Oat milk, it was incredibly delicious. Another suggestion is the iced Aussie.Service, speed, friendliness and knowledge are shown
This place is such a tease. My first and only time coming here, I ordered The Hulk smoothie and the cashier offered to tell me a joke. Unfortunately, I was left wanting. As I finished my transaction I was never given a joke. I firmly believe that my declining to tip this establishment played a crucial role in the lack of humor delivered that day. As per the smoothie, I was also left disenchanted. Although the portion was adequate, the taste was not. The cold, green had a faint taste of fruit with a overwhelming taste of some sort of grass. As for the 2 star rating, I did give this place the benefit of the doubt since I have not tried all of their different smoothies. Overall 2/5 might come back again if I ever have the desire to be teased again.
Love the atmosphere, very welcoming. Definitely recommend if you have time. Unfortunately they take FOREVER. Like forever.. I have already applied and got accepted into graduate school by the time I get my coffee.
Ordered the tomato avocado pesto toast… I didn’t realize it would literally only be ONE slice of toast.. also ordered an oat milk latte with vanilla.. it was so hot that it burnt my mouth. If it wasn’t for the chocolate croissant id be leaving a one star review.
I stopped here for breakfast and was delighted by how tasty the food was. We enjoyed our meal outside and talked to a few others sitting around. As a bonus there were so many dogs around!
Great location and friendly staff. We used to live walking distance from this gem until investors bought the property we rented from the previous owners.I don’t come as often as I did before ( a good 3-4 times a week) but whenever I’m in Sugarhouse I make it a point to stop by and grab a lavender latte or the honeycomb crisp, I love the seasonal lattes they come up with, they’re amazing!I always get oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk. Soy milk foams the best if you get a latte especially if it’s a hot one! Oat milk is the creamiest I feel like so definitely a lately favorite of mine.
Coffee is great. Used to be my favorite place. All the employees pretend they are Holy Zealots of Covid.and have medical degrees. God forbid if you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask. As a veteran who has suffered severe lung damage from a chemical attack my doctor advised me not to wear a mask. Needless to say because I am under 50 they dont believe me. Thinking am trying to go around the rules. ... I just want a coffee. I dont need a lecture or treated like a second class citizen because I have a disability. I want to be treated like every one else. But because they are so politically charged they inadvertently Disparage against people with disabilities that arent immediately apparent.
This little coffee shop tucked behind the best friends animal sanctuary is an amazing find. The coffee, breakfast burritos and their chai tea is all amazing and I definitely recommend. I also love that they have different options of milk and it always feels super welcoming here. Always a great coffee experience, thank you♥️.
Great service, more than friendly environment. Cant reccomend this place enough! Ill definitely be back!
Love their coffee and lattes. Lots of vegan options including vegan cream cheese for bagels. They’ve added a walk up window for ordering and lots of outdoor tables in the back
Love that theyre supportive of social justice causes and cute environment! Only thing though, to be honest, I was a little disappointed with their food & drink. The bacon breakfast burrito was big chunks of wet egg with little to no bacon and the cold brew coffee tasted watered down. Ill have to go back and try something different next time.
My sweet boyfriend brough me here and i was so impressed with it! Great coffee great food and such wonderful and friendly staff! 10 out of 10! Will definitely go again!
Amazing coffee, super fun friendly staff, food is alright. Great price for what you receive. Awesome local hot spot where you its a very welcoming vibe and atmosphere. Cant wait to be welcomed back inside after the pandemic. Either way they have a drive up/walk threw line they will happily serve you
The oatmeal and coffee were soooo good! Friendly atmosphere and great prices. Waaayyy better than Starbucks!!
Normally the staff is speedy with drinks. But today my friend and I, as well as others, had to stand out in the rain as we waited at least 15 minutes, probably more, for two drinks and I dont think they were low on staff. The incessant, unflattering small talk from the employee at the window pushing for tips wasnt well received by me or my friend, either. I expect more from you, Sugarhouse Coffee!
I just ate one of the most amazing things ever. I got the pesto and avocado toast and the combination of flavors was unbelievably delicious! This was my first visit but you can bet I will be coming back to get this over and over!
Nice people and amazing location. However, first world problems, I’m tired of waiting in a drive thru to grab my drink, it’s 105 degrees outside and I’m on my feet. There’s also a vaccine and masks available so why isn’t the inside open? Also attention to detail is lacking often. Either very little ice or I’ll order the fully loaded and the cold butter will cool down the drink so it not hot. Decent place
Good vibe, good people. Their cortado can use some improvement.
First and only time weve been here..I had the same experience the other 1 star review gave. Man at the window was rude, impatient, bad attitude and poor communication skills. Coffee was just ok. We wont be coming here again. We complied with wearing our useless masks as soon as we read the sign (they have their opinion, I can have mine) without saying anything, while in the car and honestly we shouldve just driven away the second he gave us an unwarranted BAD attitude. Even the teenager in the car said, Wow, that person was so rude. All in all, theres better coffee and nicer people elsewhere.
This place is wonderful. Recently moved closer to them and cant wait to be able to walk down and have my morning coffee with a good book. They are currently not open for Dine-in. And I hope that changes soon. But every business has to abide by their own Comfort level in regards to the pandemic situation. Either way I recommend checking this place out, even if its just as a drive-thru.
LOVE the environment and the people here. The food and coffee is also top notch. I love always feeling comfortable, safe and included when I visit. I really appreciate them taking such great COVID steps so we could continue to visit with medically fragile family members. Thanks so much for always looking out for the community!! ❤
Great vibe, but only takeout when we visited. Make sure to ask about their drinks if you have any questions since one drink we had was spicer than we thought it might be!
Very cool little spot. Hopefully theyll be able to return to doing all the cool things they used to after/if covid fades. Good food and drink, used to come here all the time when I was local
I ordered the mediterranean bagel. Simple yet very good, the hint of lemon really hit the spot!
Had a wonderful experience for coffee and green tea. Visited first time because its open late night. Me and my husband really enjoyed. Will keep visiting for sure. We even took our 9 months old baby at 11pm he was sleeping, we got worried that he might woke up but music wasnt that loud to disturb him!
Love sugar house coffee! Great atmosphere and great coffee.! They have a ton of different menu items as well if you are not after coffee and what something more like tea or a smoothie. You can get some pretty health food options here as well. They are definitely one of the better coffee houses in salt lake and defiantly one of the best in sugar house. The only down side to this place is how busy it gets. It seems to be a running problem with coffee shops in Utah. If it is packed then it must be one of the better spots around town.
The stuff was so nice and fun!! Very charismatic, energetic and full of positivity! We had our caffeine hit before we got the coffee (which is amazing in its self!). The coffee came quick and very tasteful!
There sandwiches are so good and there smoothies are soooooo good.
Really fun coffee shop in Salt Lake City. Friendly staff, a few vegan items.Super crowded, but things kept moving along, and people were really nice about sharing any available table space. My friend and I got soy cappuccinos, that were quite delicious.Cafe had a great vibe and exuded an open minded charm.
Arie was dope, knowledgeable and patient. Cheers
The owner has some serious control issues related to covid they are still having everyone in masks and also took away the drive through they only offer walk up. I enjoy the food here its delicious but the lack of freedom and individuality make it not worth it. I think the owner needs to seek a bdsm community and stop taking out their sick need to control and dictate others out on paying customers.
What a great coffee shop. Love the overall vibe here. If it wasnt a COVID year, this place would be the perfect chill out spot. The staff are so friendly and treat their customers very well. I really appreciate that the coffee is also very delicious. Keep it up Team!
I love this atmosphere, attention to social justice, coffee, food, and friendliness of their staff. Definitely one of the best coffee shops in Sugarhouse!
If you want to see a time capsule of the series Portlandia from a dozen years ago, cmon by. Just put a bird on it !
Great vibe! And appreciate the efforts to keep things safe.during Covid.
Love the coffee here. The staff here is always really nice to us. Also, the grilled pesto sandwiches and the medditerran bagels here are delicious.
The best coffee shop around. The employees are so kind!
Best coffee shop around. Employees are so kind!
Some of the best chai I’ve had
I came for a friendly coffee shop environment. And found a cold drive up window that even though Im in my car and vaccinated I need a mask. Really? How do I know if they get my order correct since I can watch them. I really dont think its a proper environment to be preached at. It was my favorite place to relax and hang out when I was in town. Now I wont come back. Too stressful!
Very nice setup and everyone smiles and helps if you ask for it!!!
I love how great I feel being here and supporting a wonderful local business! Very queer friendly and the barista was awesome. I got an iced chai and the turkey bacon sandwich and cant wait to get it again, everything was incredibly delicious!
Very cute place, good coffee and nice location It can get very busy in the mornings so I was there was separate drive through vs walk up windows although using the app is very helpful 😃
I love Sugarhouse Coffee! The service is always amazing and I love their mission. My favorite order is a mocha with almond milk! Sometimes in the summer there will be little art shows in the parking lot and it is really fun to get a coffee and meet local artists.
This place has really amazing covid safety policies. Masks required, cant enter the coffee place. Also impressed by their LGBT friendly stuff. Oh, and their coffee to-go cups are super sustainable. All around amazing.
I love SHC! Always friendly service, awesome drinks, and tasty snacks.
Probably the best Chai currently in Utah. Iced and blended is their specialty. Easy vibe to just chill outside.Show kindness and be respectful to your server/barista and they will be very nice to you in return.
Ive been here for coffee a few times. Ill admit, I havent tried much of their dishes or beverages. What I do like is the vibe of the place.Very open, liberal/progressiveto LGBTQ+ friendly.Theyre not afraid to wear their causes on their sleeve.I last visited the place to drop off clothing for donations to the homeless.Im so impressed that a coffee shop would use their time so positively. That more than anything, their contribution to the community, would keep me coming back.
Very good coffee and friendly service!
Edit: don’t go during lunch hours. Don’t know if it’s rushing to get drinks out but i went and got a coffee during lunch hours and it tasted so bad. Like i went from a 9 in terms of taste to a 2 from the last time i came. Really bummed me out. Really friendly and sweet staff here. The coffee is really good here. It was also quite clean. And the esthetic of the place is really cute. Lots of plants and wood tables.
The food and coffee is amazing. Service was prompt and professional.
I really love the delicious spicy chicken sandwich!
LOVE Sugar House Coffee! I love the coffee, food, vibe.. the whole experience but especially the fantastic staff! The baristas are so nice, affable, and knowledgable! Not to mention that Sugar House Coffee is always there for the community! Whats not to love?
Always kind and on top of specifications on orders. Inclusive and safe. The only coffee shop I go to. Also covid safe outdoor eating!!
Great little coffee shop with good food
Spencer is one of the nicest people ever! I love this coffee shop and will always recommend friends to come here. Awesome coffee as always!
The food and drinks were sooo good
Absolutely adore this place. The people, coffee, and food are all incredible. The baristas are the friendliest people Ive ever met and always provide a great experience! And its so nice to see them have such great safety standards while facing covid. As a disabled and immunocompromised person, this makes me feel so safe. 💕💕💕
Great coffee with a walk up window!
Cozy community coffee space. Lots of folks go here to study or write. You will see almost everyone on their laptops.Get your coffee fix with one of the many handcrafted, creative coffee drinks or get a fresh juice or smoothie. They also offer food items (yes avocado toast), oatmeal, chia pudding and such. Twice a week is open mic night. Definitely a space to hang and chat and feel good.
Garrett was one of the friendliest baristas I’ve ever met. Not sure who made my drink but it was SOOOOO GOOD. One of the best matcha lattes I’ve had. Thanks for putting a smile on my face today with good energy and a damn good latte 🥰
Best Chai Tea in the Valley! I swear, this place never disappoints. I drive a pretty long way for this tea. I cannot say enough good things. Also, baristas are kind and service is prompt. Love!
Super cute place, with a refreshing, not typical utah vibe which i love! the staff was very friendly and welcoming! my best friend swears by this place soi had to try it the last time i was in town, i got a soy london fog and it was delicious! happy to have the chance to support a local female owned business as well.
Asked for a hot chocolate with a little something extra. They surprised me with a glittery concoction of joy. Loved it!
Excellent option and excellent service
Great shop, decent brews, better company. A staple of sugerhouse that better never go away!
Im a regular here, the staff are fun and friendly and the selection of coffee is excellent. Definately try the shangra-late.
I love Sugar House Coffee! Their baristas are friendly and make amazing drinks. Their mocha is superior to other coffee shops mochas. I also love their cold brew coffee. This is definitely one of the best coffee shops in Salt Lake City.
Loved this place from the first taste. There was quick, helpful, and friendly service. The place has a good feel to it. Kinda of like a place in Houston that I enjoyed.
