This place serves delicious food and it has a very nice alternative vibe. I ordered french toast with bananas. Oh man, best banana, toast or not, Ive ever had. The toasts was served with a side of country potatoes, again, very good. The coffee was ok, not bad but not exceptional. Our server was very nice and very helpful. I was truly impressed. I cant wait to eat here again next time Im visiting Salt Lake.
Really nice breakfast spot. I went there with my friend on the weekend and the wait was not long. The waitress was nice and she made some changes to make us have the best experience. I had Spanish omelette with side of French toast. My friend had chicken fried steak with veggie gravy. Both dishes tasted amazing and they were big meals.
I went on a business trip while visiting the area. It was an amazing experience and I am a huge fan of all things Diner related. I am not sure if there is a better spot within 100 miles, because everything was perfect. The food, the service and and atmosphere were all amazing. I would highly recommend that if you are in the area that you take the time to stop in, relax, drink a nice large cup of coffee and eat an amazing meal!
We went to the Blue Plate Diner because of Guy Fieris recommendation but were pleasantly surprised. This place is a true hidden gem and the food is awesome. My wife got the blue plate special and I got the chicken fried steak and eggs and they were both very good. The service was super and we really enjoyed our breakfast. We will definitely be back if ever in SLC again! Thanks guys for a great time!
Stopped by today for bunch. Im giving them 5 stars, but should be 4.5The food is good and the staff are fast and friendly. Its just a little pricey for what you get. Its worth a visit for a unique Benedict.
It was very busy and when you have a party of 7, youre going to wait a time so they can accommodate you! No complaints! We sat, ordered, and I honestly was surprised how quick the food came out! Everyone enjoyed what they got. The food was very good! We all got breakfast items. Carne asada omelet, 2 Benedict omelets, two French toast orders, and 2 eggs Benedict. I was able to get a pancake in place of my toast. The potatoes were cooked just right. Everything was flavorful and hot. Would definitely come again!
Bambi was our server. Great guy. Give him and Taylor and their coworkers raises! The atmosphere was cool and a cool playlist. I would give 2-3 stars for the food but the cool servers brought up my rating. Food, not the best, but the people and location were great. Rock on! Thanks for letting us be there!
Just wow! This is home cooked breakfast right here. Yes, there is some waiting to get seated. We had about 20 min wait. We ordered omlettes, and they both came in very quick. Fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned. Enjoyed it with bottomless coffee. Staff was very friendly and they help you customize your meal as you like.
To be honest I don’t know what went wrong the first and only time I’ve eaten here.I’d just moved to Salt Lake City and one of my best friends who’s vegetarian was visiting me from California. This place came up close and with good ratings and reviews and I hadn’t tried it (that was my first mistake!) so I decided we should have brunch or breakfast there.Totally unappetizing my friend had super runny eggs Benedict and she could barely eat it so it was somewhat of a waste of a dang meal!I know they’ve been around for a long time in Salt Lake and more recently saw a tribute to them and a very honoring farewell done by the local businesses and customers of this diner.I assumed COVID had been hard on them just like it had been on all of us. It was either the city weekly that was posting that they served for 25 years and had this restaurant in that same spot?!Props to that but in terms of customer service even when we went, it all was lacking. I hope it was an off time or day or week or whatever but I never had the desire to try it again after that.
Enjoyed the food and location. Major issue for our visit was that we ordered lasagna which ended up being spicy, my wife wasnt able to eat it but was still charged for half of it (she had eaten the bread, salad and steamed veggies so I can understand where they are coming from, but that is something I dont agree with personally). My food was tasty and the portions were great, just had an overall OK time.
This place was hopping! As quickly as people left, people came in.. They have a routine that gets the jobs done quickly and efficiently.. I was impressed..I got green tea/peppermint and the build your own omelette. There was plentiful of food and decent prices for what you get..If I could give them 10 stars I would!
Comfort food at its best. Great (5 star) service and real 60s ambiance. Worth going here for the food alone. Cute place and the servers were attentive without being pushy. Highly recommended fora home style breakfast. The pancakes were spectacular. Try it and youll come back. Small parking area next to the building and limited parking on the street. 5 Star ( did I say that already?)
A Salt Lake landmark that take traditional diner meals and create food that is inspired and untraditional try the Benedict Omelet as an example of the very best ingredients combined into something you have never had before, all very familiar flavors prepared a little differently. Also you wont find a vibe like this at any other restaurant, really great people enjoying what they do and the customers that come through the door. They will be missed.
UPDATE: The Blue Plate Diner, located at 2041 S 2100 E in Salt Lake City announced it will be closing its doors on May 4, 2021. It will for sure be missed but wanted to say thank you for all of the wonderful meals and great customer service.Definitely a must go to before they close!Buffalo spiced waffle fries are so yummy. The bison burger was decent comfort food, good burger, even better when you dress it up with there garnishes and sauces.
This place has a great vibe and great service. The servers are very kind and on top with checking up on you. The food is cooked well that the chicken Verde burrito is Verde flavorful with a hint of spice. The only thing I would change is the placement of the food in the burrito. Instead of the chicken, black beans, and egg being adjacent to each other; I would have them layered horizontally so each bite could capture the complete combination this burrito offers.
Fantastic forst meal in the US, staff were so friendly and helpful. The pancakes were very fluffy and the quesadilla was just the right amount.Pancakes you can have anything in them and many sides to choose.Quesadillas i chose bacon, cheese and egg. Comes with Guaq, cream cheese and a great salsa. Will definitely come back.Thank you!!
Finallyyy made it here for breakfast after waiting 10yrs. Never made it here when i lived here or visited but today was the day!Got the corned beef hash w extra crispy baconThe service is impeccable. Everyone is very friendly and nice and the Owner John is the sweetest person ever. Will def be back when i visit next time
Stopped here for lunch on our way to Yellowstone. The service was great. The spicy fries were really good as well. I ordered a coffee and the waitress kept it coming the entire time, which was good. The burger on the other hand, didnt seem the highest of quality. It had a very processed taste. It was just ok.
The food at this neighborhood dinner makes it well worth looking up. A little off the beaten path and with the feeling of a small college town the food follows suit. Good sized portions will well selected ingredients seemed to be the norm.
Im sad to know one day soon I wont be able to enjoy their delicious breakfasts. Awesome vibes, fast and friendly staff, but expect to wait for a table at their high sams facility. Thank you for the good times blue plate. You will be missed ❤️
First time I ever visited, and now I found out they are going out of business in a few weeks. That is a shame because their food is great, and they have large portions! Their OJ is fresh and high quality. I would recommend getting tge banana or blueberry add-on to the pancakes.
We were so sad to hear that this icon is closing forever. We had to go one last time. The waffle fries were great. Corned beef hash was good. Biscuits and gravy needed more gravy, but thats normal.
We came here twice on may 24th and june 15th 2019. Overall it was great service and decent price, good portion, great quality of food. Breakfast all day is what I called it. We had two different servers on different visits. Both of them were quick, great, friendly. My daughter loves the blueberry pancakes and the omelette that weve shared. Anyway we will be back for more and other stuff. Thank-you for having us.
Great place to eat, I just wish they were open later they close at 2:00 p.m. now. I like to go there a lot for dinner however I guess thats how its going lately. Also I sure wish they carried Tabasco sauce Thats always been a peeve of mine when I go there for breakfast. The food is fantastic and the services always great! Strongly recommend going!
Such an amazing place for brunch! Staff is fabulous, had so many good times eating there and hanging out for hours. To bad there doors are closing on May 4th. 😭
Service was awesome however the food left a lot to be desired. My pork verde burrito was terrible as it contained not one piece of pork and neither did the green pork chili that smothered it. The burrito consisted of hard black beans and running eggs only. For $13.99 it was a huge disappointment! Oh yeah, coffee is a whopping $2.99. Ouch! Too bad as the atmosphere sitting at the bar was great.
What is there to not love about this epic local spot!? Local scratch made food with a neighborhood feel. The food is amazing and never leaves you feeling like you just didn’t get enough. This place gets busy quick so arrive early and bring your appetite.Try the corned beef hash and verde, you will thank me later! Not a meat eater? Fear not! They also have a delicious selection for the vegetarian/vegan demographic as well!
I read reviews on this place so decided to stick with what they are good at, breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak and it was so good. I would consider this a place I would go back to. Prices were decent, especially for the amount of food you get. I would definitely go back and try something different just to see if it is just as good.
Delicious comfort food, awesome service, friendly atmosphere. We drove 450 miles to show our support. Will be so sad when Blue Plate Diner closes their doors for the last time.
This place was awesome. I went with my brother and sister in-law after they invited me. I was very impressed! Super friendly service and wonderful food!!! I tried a bit of everybodies food so I would recommend almost anything on the menu! Thank you for the great food and wonderful service!!!
Best corned beef hash around with corned beef not from a can its shame theyre closing in a month thats my go to order.
Huge portions. Guacamole was fresh and delicious. Service was quick
This place is so good and the staff is always great. The corned beef and hash breakfast is the best thing on the menu. But everything else is pretty darn good too!
Always great food. Hit them up while you still have time!
Great coffee and waitstaff. Enjoy while you can, rumors of closing May 5, 2021
Service was excellent. The food was delicious. We love this place. Very clean.
Had the BLTA. We were celebrating lunch out on the day they announced that they will be closing. We will miss the staff, the food and the environment.
Very cool place for breakfast or brunch....too bad they are closing the doors for good in May
The food was amazing. i had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. prices are appropriate.
First visit about a year ago was great, but BPD has gotten worse every visit since. Today was no exception. Corned beef hash was mediocre and tasted like food I’ve had in the past at a greasy spoon. It was edible but nothing to write home about. Wife’s food was decent, but also nothing special.Staff not terribly motivated. NO attention to detail. Had to ask for condiments, silverware, and even salt and pepper. Ton of flies inside the restaurant, annoying us and a number of other patrons. I honestly should’ve gone to McDonald’s and had the big breakfast. It would’ve tasted better and I’d get exactly what I paid for.
This place is amazing, Id recommend you go there before it closes in May!
Had an excellent brunch on Sunday. The outdoor patio is perfect for the summer mornings. Excellent service and food was on point. Had the Breakfast Burrito and would recommend it again. They were safe and social distancing was not a concern.
Kind servers, excellent food. I love the vegetarian biscuits and gravy for breakfast, and a sandwich and milkshake for dinner. Awesome environment, amazing owners!
I was expecting the vegan breakfast to taste more breakfast-y than like stir fry, but it was still good.
We came at 10a on a Saturday. Service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was casual and our bellies were filled.A couple of individual flavor/ingredient preferences were the only thing keeping our rating from 5 stars.
Love the aesthetic, the bar counter is a nice place to enjoy some food or some coffee. The customer service has always been great here.
Too bad its closing! Another example of Salt Lake City thinking they have to bulldoze over a great place to build high-rise buildings!
Wonderful diner but it’s going to close soon unfortunately. Get there while it’s open.
I have always LOVED this place. Unfortunately the atmosphere and service when I went since Covid has made this place a totally different experience, and not in a good way. :( It was not the same Blue Plate. Also, our server seemed like he didnt care at all, and charged me for a slice of tomato for my sandwich, so for me it was very strange since Ive been going there for over ten years, and it just wasnt the same at all. :(
We return to the diner whenever we are in Salt Lake City. The food is always great. It is a guilty pleasure and fun. Weve tried many items. One of our favorites is the traditional eggs Benedict.
Last time I came here it was fantastic this time not so much my food tastes sour and gave me a terrible stomach ache and the home fries werent even seasoned. Blue plate has gone WAY down hill people.
We’ve gone here a few times now and each time we have been so satisfied! The food is delicious and they’re very conscious of physical distancing (most of their seating is currently outdoors). Such a gem!
Super great food. An amazing selection and great staff. Truly enjoyed the meal and will be back soon.
One of my favorite places. They have expanded their out door seating; and they do take care. To sanitize. Each table. Thanks ! For being mind full of cleaning. Not a vulnerable person but that is how WE keep things open :)-
This is a very easy 5/5 for me. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was plentiful and delicious. We got the hummus as an appetizer, and it came with deliciously soft pita. The Corned Beef Hash was excellent on its own, but it also came with perfectly light and fluffy scrambled eggs and some seriously tasty toast.Easy recommend. Were already planning on bringing our extended family here next month when they visit.
Exceptional vegan options, courteous staff, and a good vibe. Felt like there was lots of diversity with everyone welcome. Ill definitely go here again.
Service was good, Food was good and decently priced. There was a wait to get seated but the place isnt huge so its understandable. Overall nice experience.
There was quick, helpful, and friendly service. the bill was fair. reminds me of a place in new york i loved to visit.
Great food and service. No five stars because it was cold inside.
