Great place. I have a 1979 R65 Airhead that Im working on and Bavarian has kindly assisted me with all my questions.
Ron is the absolute best so he is extremely busy make an appointment and he will take care of you.
Always excellent service on my baby.
It might not look like much from the outside, but I wholeheartedly recommend Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop. Ive taken my 2009 1200rt there for service ever since the shop opened a few years ago. The people are friendly, honest and reliable. The prices are reasonable. They get things done on time. They also really know their stuff. Not once have I been disappointed in their work.
Ive been taking my bikes to Ron for several years now and I hope for many more. They provide excellent communication on what needs to be done, options, and accurate estimates of how much itll cost before doing the work. Theyre efficient, honest and a great group of guys who know what theyre doing. Were lucky to have their services available here in Salt Lake.
Background.I live off my motorcycle, literally. So I’m not some weekend enthusiast.I’ve ridden from the East coast and have been on the road for months traveling around.I read the reviews of this place and decided to stop in to discuss what maintenance I have performed on the road and what may be needed that is above the normal maintenance that I have performed while out traveling. So I got a hotel in SLC for a couple of days to wait until they opened.Fully preparing to let the shop look over the bike, I spent several hours cleaning it and getting 6 BDR’s worth of dirt off off, fully knowing mechanics like a clean bike.Ron came out and treated me with disrespect and blew me off as I tried to discuss maintenance that I have performed while on the road saying “I’ve got work to do.”I rode away steaming, got back to the hotel, turned around and went back to confronted him.Clearly he has too much work to actually care about customers and people who actually ride their bike as a living.I will warn everyone I meet on the road to stay away from this place.
This crew really took care of me while I was out on a long distance trip thousands of miles away from my local dealership. I needed a new rear tire far sooner than expected, and they were able to fit me in the next day and didnt even charge me for labor when mounting the tire. Thats incredible! If Im ever back through this way again, or if my friends are out riding around in this area, I will suggest they visit this workshop for any issues they may encounter with their bike.Thank you all at Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop!
Best motorcycle repair Ive ever been to. I called a week or two ago, and they told me they could look at my bike on Tuesday or drop my bike off on Saturday and they might be able to look at it then. I dropped it off saturday morning, and didnt expect to hear back until Tuesday about my bike. Ron called back that same day, and they had my bike DONE Tuesday night. Are you kidding me??? I expected to wait at least a week or two and they got it done in less than three days. Absolutely amazing. Excellent service, took amazing care of my bike and I am absolutely going back for anything else my bike needs. Thanks guys!
Had my bike shipped (not recommended) there (highly recommended) to begin our western states tour. Ron and company were gracious to do this and installed a new tire for me as it sat in their shop for 3 weeks. Nice to see business like moto grease geeks with a willing attitude. Highly appreciative!
These people are geniuses. They know these motorcycles inside and out. My bike was dangerous and unrideable, and they diagnosed and fixed it so quickly and affordably I feel almost guilty about it. They make it worth riding a BMW in Utah.
Every time i stepped foot in the shop i was greeted, welcomed, and asked what they could help me out with! I was in an accident involving my BMW R1200C and they knew exactly what steps to take i was given an estimate within a day and a half and the paperwork the insurances needed were completed, signed, and emailed faster than that! Thanks for the help guys. 5 stars in my opinion.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in the shop was how tidy and well organized the workspace was. I had a feeling then that these guys were good mechanics. I wasnt wrong! The knowledgeable competence and great service was complimented with a fair price. They made a loyal customer out of me.
Ron and Steve treated me (and my GS) well. Fast turn-around. Took time to explain the repairs. And they have a great shop dog. Very appreciative.
Bavarian has earned a customer for life - Ron and his staff (I think its just the one other mechanic, Steve) are always friendly, helpful, and ready to share their passion for riding with whomever walks through their doors. They will source parts for no extra charge, they will help diagnose problems over the phone, and they will always be fair and accurate when it comes to repair costs, times, and quality. Ron is a certified master mechanic from BMW, and he will always give each bike and each customer the attention they deserve. I will gladly take my bike to be serviced at Bavarian with no hesitation.
Ron is an amazing guy! He has a very patient, calming demeanor, and doesnt pressure you into anything. I took my 2012 R1200GSA in for a brake fluid flush, and he had it done in an hour.He took the time to explain everything he did and answered all of the questions I had about the process.I would definitely recommend these guys for any bike you need taken care of!
Good knowledgeable staff who loves to ride. the only reason I didnt give them 5 stars is because once they gave me a quote and the final price was about 2x more. That was several years ago though. Ive been back many times since and had a great experience.
Ron is the man. He explains extensively all parts of the repair process. I sent my 1973 R75/5 in and she was treated with all the love she deserved
Ron and Steve were great to work with and very knowledgeable. Fair prices and honest. Did a fantastic job wiring up an electrical accessory I wanted installed. Ill definitely be back.
Great guys! Great service. Same day tire changes vs. 2 or 3 week wait anywhere else!
Had an engine oil leak in my 2005 R1200GS, I looked the bike over thoroughly, replaced several seals and parts that I suspected may be the problem, finally came to the realization that it was beyond my scope and I was going to have to throw some money at it to get it fixed, probably a lot of money. On a friends suggestion I made an appointment with the Workshop, had a very pleasant experience with the staff, a few hours after dropping it off I was phoned that the bike was repaired and ready to be picked up.I was happy to hear that the repair was not costly, the engine clam-shell bolts just needed to be tightened, some are not easy to reach.Good repair, fair price, great treatment, I am very happy with this shop.
Their knowledge and passion for BMW motorcycles, both riding them and fixing them is remarkable! You will get what you pay for and then some. Dont bother waisting your time with the dealer when you can have it done right the first time here. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you for taking such great care of me and my machines over the years.
Ron, the owner of the shop is very attentive and a great person to work with. Recently visited the shop and he showed me around, while I don’t yet have a BMW, they do offer a free pre-purchase inspection which I believe adds great value to what they do. Thanks for your time and attention Ron.
Simply the best service all around.
Only place Ill take my bike. They have done work on my 1200gs and 650gs. Honest, upfront, and reliable. Cant see a thing that could be done better or different. Why people choose a dealership is beyond me . These guys know there stuff and they have a passion for what they do. Big thank you for everything.
These guys are awesome! I recently purchased a 1983 BMW r65 and its my first shot at an Airhead. I am unfamiliar with these bikes (though I am learning) and had a clutch cable that needed replacement. They worked me into their busy schedule and got me taken care of... Not to mention they were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and affordable. I will never take my BMW anywhere else for service now that I know of the exceptional job these guys will do! Thanks Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop!!!
Excellent crew. Parts were on hand, Ill be back when my machine needs help. :-)
Gave me some great insight on bikes i may buy.
This is just my first time with them, but it certainly wont be my last. Very friendly and knowledgeable. A top notch Beemer bike shop. Worth the wait to have these guys work on your BMW motorcycle, regardless of model. I wont trust my ride with just anyone and Im super stoked to have such a resource available.
I have been a customer for 4 and a half years, and they have worked on my R1150GS and F650. The level of follow up, service, competence and communication is unparalleled. They tell you whats wrong, and give alternatives in fixing it, they dont just switch out whole assemblies of parts like most shops do these days. They have my complete confidence and trust. There are not many shops like the Bavarian MW left these days.
The guys at Bavarian really took care of me. They are extremely knowledgable, meticulous and thorough. I purchased a1977 R75 and it needed work, I was on a tight budget and was worried the work would cost a lot. I was pleasantly surprised when the work was well within my budget. I will definitely return to have my bike work done here and refer everyone I know here
Rod Brannon, the fellow giving this business one star and a torrid review may have an alternate agenda going. Perhaps most telling is his reference to Honda and a fellow named Jeff. Youll notice Rod Brannon gives few details about Jeff and the Honda mechanic. Perhaps it was simply an oversight.Ron Schmidt is an honest and straightforward mechanic. He wont beat around the bush and he wont offer anything less that what is best for rider and machine. That is a rare quality in todays make a profit no matter what business mentality that is so prevalent today. The bottom line here is that you have to be the judge of what matters most to you. Mr. Brannon is entitled to his opinion, but as for me I will always seek Ron Schmidts advice and recommend his work to anyone. If you stop by and visit with the folks at Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop tell them a long time customer from El Paso, TX sent you. It might get you an extra cup of coffee and it will most certainly make for an excellent conversation. Ron has worked on more motorcycles, for more years, than I can count. He has a depth of experience that few can match and integrity that is unparalleled.
Fantastic detailed service and fair pricingi REALLY dont advise doing what i did but i need it for contextso i was like 40 minutes late because work was being a total drain and i couldnt get away. they still took me, got my service done and got me out the door. knowledgeable people there. they were always nice and polite and understanding. i felt like a jerk being late but they treated me well. dude worked into his lunch hour to get things done for me.also they send you down the street to the coffee shop (nice place) and there was a free drink waiting for me there.clean shop, i ride an s1000rr, needed my yearly and brake flush. dudes got tons of certs on the wall, they are all about bmw down there. very cool. they have me as a customer for the rest of the time i live here, i will likely bring my MV agusta there if they let me ...
Ive had Ron and team work on my bikes for 10 years. Hes fantastic to work with and he knows BMWs like no one else. I highly recommend Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop.
Great knowledge and experience! My K75S had an electrical issue and wouldnt start, after much time invested trying to run down the problem I finally tossed in the towel and made an appointment with Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop. Ron diagnosed and repaired the electrical gremlin and did a valve check. Now, not many motorcycle mechanics are capable with electrics, so hats off to Ron and a big, Thank you. Moreover the price was quite fair. If you own a BMW motorcycle and have routine maintenance needs or a serious problem go see Ron; youll be happy you did so.
Excellent! I really like this shop and the guys that run it. Thanks Ron and Steve
Honest, Competent, Fairly Priced.I was just passing through SLC and needed tires and brakes. Ron and his team looked after me as if they were old friends. ......old fashioned service.Thank you!!
Stellar customer service provided by knowledgeable, experienced mechanics.
Thank you Ron for getting this traveler back on the road! I drove up from Texas headed for Flagstaff. My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt downtown. We were all geared up for a ride in town, and my97 BMW R1100RT immediately started running rough after startup. Fortunately, I was a mile away from Rons shop. I limped the bike to the shop after finding it on an internet search. I can tell Ron keeps a tight schedule and takes care of his regulars, but he rearranged his schedule, immediately diagnosed a faulty coil, and fixed my bike by noon. Very reasonably priced. I tried to get him to round up the bill, but he would not. Thank you Ron, Steve, and Thane!
Great, honest and affordable shop. These guys are riders that know their stuff. From a tune up to major repairs, this is the shop!
New tires and service. Ron and his guys are the best, Mary Jessie too.
Excellent customer service and prices that cant be beat. The best place for airhead parts and service.
The place to take your BMW, so friendly and helpful.
Thank you so much for such an inexpensive and simple fix to my drive shaft today! It is great to find you guys and you can bet you will see me for more business.
Nice independent business. They do excellent work.
The personal service is unparalleled as well as the BMW knowledge and enthusiasm.
Ron is professional and the work is excellent. Reasonable prices as well!
Just had a question...Ron was upfront and easy to speak with... They also have a FREE pre purchase assessment.
Ron is always very helpful and 100% stands behind his work.
Dont know about their work, but i called for some questions and 5 mins in he told me they were trying to run a business and i needed to go about my merry way. Well if you dont want to talk about potential business, you wont get none from me.
Great bike repair shops in SLC that are reasonably priced and have top notch real bike mechanics. If you have a BMW motorcycle this is the only place to go in the Salt lake valley.
Simply the best shop in the Great Basin for any Beemer service and repairs old or new! Honest and fair, friendly and happy to answer any questions the customer might have.
Took all day to service my bike. Thank you for doing it right and not speeding through!
Great folks to work with.
