Visited the B&N at Bristol farms. It is a paradise for the book lovers. You can spend hours, exploring history, adventure, fiction, crime, fantasy, etc through the pages of these magical paperbacks.Outside the store there are cool places to hang out for burgers or coffee, at Starbucks, chipotle, McDonalds, five guys.
I was greeted when I walked in. The manager was extremely kind and helpful the whole time. The library had a variety of choices, and was easy to browse through. The manager was knowledgeable and they made my day! I will definitely go there again!
Very helpful and friendly staff. Helped me find just what I needed and gave me some good pointers! Thank you
Very well stocked store with amiable staff. Wandered around for an hour and found so much good stuff!
Love Barnes & Noble. Always fun to browse even if I dont purchase. Today I bought 3 of the newest titled books and cant wait to start reading them. I love how the store is set up, so neat & clean. They also carry other unique items which would be great as gifts like the magnetic page clips with different characters such as Bob Ross or the Golden Girls to name a couple. They have cards & stuffed animals as well, along with many other items. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and oh so helpful. Would highly recommend this store.
So after spending about an hour browsing around and eventually deciding on some books and puzzles, I brought all of my stuff up to the counter for purchase. Right before I am asked to insert my card to complete the transaction, the young man behind the counter asked me if I could open my jacket, if I had any additional books in my jacket. Now this is after I brought $133 worth of books up to the counter as well as puzzles, in addition also signed up for their membership. I wanted to just let it go but after getting out to my car I realized that I should probably go in and speak with the manager about it. When I went back in I asked the employee who helped me if it was common practice to ask clients to open up their jackets to prove that they weren’t carrying any merchandise illegally. What was funny is that the manager was sitting right next to him and didn’t say a word until I asked for a manager. She kind of sheepishly looked over at him and then at me. Pretty amazing that A manager would not step in at this point. After I addressed the employee about their policy, I began to speak to the manager who then essentially ushered the employee along. He did apologize as he left. She expressed regret and apologized saying that it wasn’t their normal practice to strip search their customers, unless they were accompanied by a manager. Of course this is still odd considering that I brought things up for purchase - it was probably one of the biggest purchases of the day. It’s further odd in the sense that they also have big antitheft gates essentially that you have to walk through before you can leave the building. I reminded the manager of that. Normally I would say that I wouldn’t shop at this location again, but that store is closing down considering that the entire complex is closing. Looks like Barnes and Noble needs to brush up on customer service skills instead of offending their customers and in turn driving them to Amazon. Pretty weak selection of books anyways..
Best place to go to since there is almost nobody in there.
A great place to buy books, board games and other small items. The location is convenient, as it is close to a parking space and also near some eateries.
Had all the books we were looking for. Helpful staff.
Clean, and organized. No chairs though 😒..it would be nice to sit and peruse the offerings...maybe soon?
Shelves of books, shelves of novelties, some music. It was Barnes and nobles.
Good selection. Friendly, warm, inviting staff. Eager to help. Much appreciated!!
This specific Barnes & Noble is great for its location and floor layout. Right next to a coffee shop and many other shopping options. Has an amazing selection of books. The staff is funny, friendly and helpful. The only downside is lack of a sitting area inside the store that most others have. I could still get stuck in here for hours and have on multiple occasions.
I love to browse through books and libraries are stil closed. I reported a concern to the staff about another shopper. They handled it immediately and discreetly. Found the book I wanted and overall pleasant experience.
A great place offering great selection. Despite the fact that I love technology, I still love to read physical books before going to bed. There is some surreal feel to holding book in my hands.
Nice and quiet bookstore. Found the book I needed without having to ask for help.
Great place not only books but also for gifts. Super good service. Fun to browse the huge array of all kinds of of products. Enjoy!
My secret little hide away! Love to look through all the books and sip on a Starbucks! Best idea ever! Coffee shop in a book store! Sorta like how I want my heaven to be! Yeeeee love you Barnes and Noble
This Barnes & Noble location is different from many others. It does not look like one from the outside, so that can be confusing. Parking is tight here. The store itself is fine. The employees are helpful. There is plenty of stock. The books are organized well.
This is my favorite bookstore in the area. Great staff! Wonderful YA book club too!
Amazing service 👍and great books 📚
Not so much for the place as the directions. Google maps is driving you directly into an apartment complex. Its behind it on the upper floor of the shopping center. The bookstar is nice, with a large selection of books.
Great place very helpful staff.
I love this place,
Great place to lose yourself in the world...love the gift section-will have to remember for future.
Always so clean and organized
Bookstar/Barnes & Noble is back in operation with in store shopping (of course its with the constraints of CDC & state health requirements).
Good store, bought a book with my wife and employees were helpful. Easy find parking.
Small, but very nice store. They have good variety of books and magazines. Also, a good collection of board games, toys and collectibles.
Employees were very helpful and pleasant!! Thank you!!
My absolute favorite Barnes and Noble. I have no idea why its called bookstar but it really is my book star. Great selection of hobby and craft books, cookbooks, computer books, and misc. I just feel at home when Im there. The staff is helpful and usually find what I need.
Very nice staff. I asked them for a book that I couldnt find because there where so many books and she helped me find my book. I am sure you can find what ever book you want here and if it isnt there they will order it for you
My favorite book store in San Diego! The employee recommendations are by far the highlight. Always end up finding a new pick when wandering through the shelves.A huge plus is also the quality of the events they host.
I still like brick and mortar shops, especially book stores. While B & N is a chain, I still love meandering through the rows upon rows of books. While many feel this type of store is archaic nothing, though, beats holding a book in your hand and flipping through a few pages. Ordering a book online and having it delivered to your doorstep is such a vanilla experience.
Great store. Well stocked with variety of books and magazines.
Prices are too high, they will not price match. Checkout with a gift card associated with my online account was a huge hassle, would never do that again. What I learned is that the only reason I would go in there is if I want to physically see a specific product before buying it online. And the store is full of silly toys and junk that you dont need. Sad reminder of the state of bookstores in the digital era.
His place is BEYOND amazing! The people are über-friendly, and the book selection is GINORMOUS! I could spend hours here and still not see everything! I love, love, LOVE Amber Unicorn Books!
So glad we still have a bookstore in UTC. Not sure for how long. Staff can be off-putting, but who really needs help in a bookstore. Wish they would change to all self check-out.
Apparently BookStar is now owned by Barnes and Noble. Most of their stores seem to be going the way of the dinosaur, but I do like walking into a real bookstore now and again. This one is large, clean and has good selection.
My life was spent like everyone else, running around making $. but whenever i go to Book Star, well, i get to slow down and return to my childhood. this is 1 of my escapes from everyday duress and restlessness. so instead of just getting a book out to read at home, why not just get out to get a book to read?
Not the largest selection but decent and helpful staff
Extremely friendly staff, at this location (and others) they go out of their way to look things up for the customer. This one called BookStar (across from Westfield UTC Mall) in the Costa Verde shopping center is very nice, great wide selection and layout. I got birthday gift wrapped free. Some healthy discounts, specials and pays to be an annual member for discount too. I really hope the store makes it, survives against Amazon. Com!!
Great book store with many other interesting things.
Friendly and helpful staff... Wide range of choice.
God awful music!! Turn it off! Trying to browse for books and horrible Lawrence Welk and 70s bad elevator music blasting. Not a very good selection. The high ratings dont seem legit at all.
Its a library but you buy the books and lots of other cool school or work related acecessories or nic nacs i guess. If you took kids here im sure they would have fun looking at all of the stuff
Personnel helpful but store didnt have some of the newer books I was looking for.
This bookstore is an oasis of happy! The staff is always so incredibly helpful and kind, and the store clean, spaced out, organized well. My favorite location in the city for book shopping!
Decent selection, nice space, but expect to pay MSRP. I went in for a couple of kids books and found them selling at almost double the Amazon price. I dont expect to get prices as low as Amazon in a local store, but when I asked for a match or at least a reasonable reduction I was told they wont even price match their own website. Sorry, Bookstar, theres no way Ill pay you double per book vs. waiting two days for it to come in the mail. Not only that, but unless I need a book right this moment, which rarely happens, I wont be back either, nor will the rest of my family.
It was great !
Great selection of books at great prices. Big yet cozy
Full of value here. Didnt have what we were looking for but gave us good suggestions where we might find it.
Love a good bookstore. Friendly staff and great books!
Smaller selection of books than most Barnes & Noble stores Ive been too. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful in finding the author I was searching for.
Great selection of books, many offers, always find parking. Of course dont expect Amazon prices, but you pay a bit more for the luxury of browsing actual books in a nice store.
Every Saturday there is a story time for kids. Its good.
Nice book store. Parking can be tough.
I love going here. They have a great selection and it is very peaceful.
One of the best bookshops I have ever seen in my life.
Great selection of books. But I didnt appreciate that when I brought my kids here that they while wandering around in a section quite close to the childrens book section saw books with nudity on the cover.
The bookstore has a large variety of books, but there are never cashiers at the checkout. Every time that Ive gone in, there is either one cashier or none. There have even been times when they employees are gathered by the cashiers and they are trying to figure out where the cashier person went, when one of their own brain dead asses can just go to the cashier themselves if all they do in their job is stand there.
Great service at this location!
Not counting the nearby librarys bookstore, this is the closest bookstore to my place (in UTC).PARKING: There are 2 levels of parking at this plaza area. Depending on time of day, you might be lucky enough to park on top... but theres no harm in parking underground. Parking is tight (in that the spaces are straight, and not slanted). Drive slow along the upper parking lot as there are a lot of blind spots and people turning right around the corner.FIRST IMPRESSION/ATMOSPHERE: Its a small bookstore packed with books and reading items (even some decor items).... and board games. :) Bookstar off of Barnes and Noble.HOURS: The best thing to do is to CALL them directly to ask what time they close. For some reason, the hours posted online is different. I had an experience where I really wanted to go to this location, and thinking it closed... say at 9pm as per online suggested, I get there.. and its CLOSED at 8pm. I ended up driving to the Barnes and Noble on Mira Mesa instead. Yeah, their hours are wacky.EMPLOYEES: Very helpful. I have no complaints about them. :)RESTROOMS: Im not sure about the Mens, but for the Womens... theres no lock so anyone can just walk in. Theres only ONE toilet, so the entire room locks (hopefully) if someone is currently occupying it.FOODS ALLOWED?: Ive walked in here just browsing the aisles while eating frozen yogurt (from the Yogurtland in the same plaza center) or drinking a smoothie from Robeks (from the same plaza center). Theres also a Starbucks. I cant imagine someone walking in here with an entire meal of something though... there are no tables. Just chairs. And even the number of chairs are limited to non-existent. Hm.PLACES TO SIT: Definitely not in the middle of an aisle. I received an earful from an employee one time saying that the aisles have to be clear at all times, so sitting down on the aisle (which Ive done in other bookstores) is a big no-no here.NOISE LEVEL: Feels like a library. Theres a small kids section, but it doesnt get too loud in here.
Bookstar used to be my secret garden during my time in Costa Verde. I used to live a hundred yards away, whenever I was fed up with the UTC mall crowd, I came here to sit, enjoy the silence. Thanks Bookstar.
Always a bathain to be had. Great selection and love the ordering kiosks.
Very good services, all ways has the answer thank you
Excellent service
I love the smell of burning books.
Best kind n nice scent
Needs a better selection of Chess books
Clean and quiet bookstore. Its so sad that retails are severely punished by Amazon nowadays.
Good selection of books. Didnt had more than two versions of the Koran.
Very kind staff and awesome events
My daughter found something that she couldnt go without and no line at checkout.
I just love book stores!!!
Nice place to shop
They told us a book was in a different location and we had to drive for an hour to get there. Then when we came then they didnt even have it. I dont think many people would like driving and wasting gas for nothing.
Our favorite place to hang out!
Very helpful
Lacks the comfortable quality of a homey bookstore. Good place to get lost in the wide selection.
Excellent customer service
Great place to get any book!
Great selection of books. Had exactly what I was searching for in science fiction.
Great selection of books and magazines.
Great layout & friendly staff.
They do great events and staff was very nice
Great selection of books would of liked a bigger selection of collectibles
Upside is that its a large book store full of new releases. The downside is everytime I go into this store the isles keep getting bigger and the book selection keeps getting smaller.
They have amazing books so therefore they are amazing
Friendly employees and big selection.
Great place to buy a turntable!
Staff are always helful.
Great place.
Big book store
Not many book stores left this is a good one
Decent selection of books.
Very patient, excellent help
