Love this shop! Been coming here for years, & I always have long conversations with the store owners here every time I swing by. I also appreciate they know which characters Im a fanatic of by heart & hold specific comics or variant covers for me that I didnt even know about. Please support your local comic shops, like this one ❤️
Awesome comic shop with a massive selection of comics, toys and art books. The people who work here are the nicest most helpful knowledgeable people in the business. I HIGHLY recommend this store if youre looking for comics, graphic novels, toys or art books. 5/5 stars
This is by far one of my favorite comic book stores. It is not the most massive comic book store but it has its very own personality. You could easily spend an hour in here discovering more and more treasures while having great conversation with the staff. Everyone is super personable and willing to help you out with comic recommendations or information on upcoming releases. I find the pricing to be fair and the variety of items are plentiful. I love that they have a kids section as well so that my children can introduce themselves to many different fandoms starting at G-Rated comics. There is something for everyone so stop on in.
The staff is awesome, super knowledgeable and friendly. Theyve turned me on to new stuff a bunch of times. Theyre always down to talk comics and pop culture. Tons of stuff in the store and if they dont have it they can get it.🤘🤪
Great store and the staff is very helpful and friendly. My daughter and I have been coming here for years to shop for our comics.
Lots of cool stuff. Youll always find what your looking for.
Theyre cool af. Love Comicaze Comics. Shout out to the homie Lucky!
I was so scared this shop would disappear with Covid and the owners death. Luckily it survived! They have such a mix of comics, graphic novels, books, funkos and even glasswear. The staff is super knowledgeable and have introduced me to comics and authors i had never heard of. Ive also purchased autographed books and graphic novels from them at a reasonable price.
Didi is so knowledgeable and helpful! Hes great for recommendations, and his enthusiasm is more contagious than COVID. I really appreciate the subscription service to be sure I dont miss an edition.
Great comic shop featuring new and recently published comics. No back issues. Large selection of manga and trade paperback collections, books and other memorabilia. Great customer service.
My grandson enjoyed himself exploring shelves.
This store has a great variety of collectables and a huge selection of comics. The folks working there are super friendly. We make a point of going every time were in the area.
Went in for the first time today - there is A LOT of stuff 😂The store is well stocked, Lucky was super helpful in finding things that we were looking for and checked in with us (daughter and I) a few times to make sure we were doing ok. Also gave us a few recommendations for more stuff in the area.Bought a few things and we will definitely be back (especially for more funko pops!!)
It has lots of great comics and it was just a fun place to walk around
Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable! Great selection of comics from smaller names as well as a massive selection of Mayberry and DC. Will definitely return.
Great collection of new and old. Helpful stuff. Cant wait to come back again!
I cant say enough nice things about this place. First, they have basically everything from big publishers to small and the store is fun to explore and find new comics! They have great prices and a rewards program thats really generous (get their app!).The best thing that really sets them apart is the people that work there. They are all **extremely** nice, good folks. Every time I go in they always make me feel welcome. They clearly really care about their customers and community. Also important, is that they are really knowledgable and always help me find what Im looking for or point me to new things I might like. They rock!!!
Love this place. Mainly just tons of comics, not full of junky toys.
Awesome store with good selection, very friendly owner.
Great place for comics, collectibles, graphic novels, manga, etc. The staff is really helpful, and on several occasions has been able to order for me.
I accidentally discovered this place when I went to eat at the subway and hamburger place next to it. I must say I love this place. The funkos Im looking for are almost always there. They have a buy 3 get 1 free promotion going on so I always grab a bunch. Ive only been there 2 times as Im not from around the area, but if Im looking for a comic or a funko theres a good chance it will be there. Also, the people who work there are always so nice and seem to know a little bit about everything. The only downside is its a little bit cramped as there are a bunch of boxes full of comics, figures or other stuff.
Comickaze is a wonderful comic book shop. They are very friendly and welcoming to people from all walks of life. They will educate and inform new comers, and engage in conversation to old veterans. The store even has a kids section for younger children. The proprietor will go out of his way to be helpful. The inventory is voluminous. I cannot help but recommend this store enough.
This is a great spot to pick up new comics from DC, Marvel, and all the small publishers. They have hundreds if not thousands of graphic novels, as well as an assortment of pop culture collectibles. The one knock on the place is that there arent many older/rare comics, if thats what youre looking for. As far as keeping up with your favorite series, this is my go-to place.
One of the best friendly place go two worker Lucky n D help you what u need.
Had stuff I wasnt even looking for but made great purchases... friendly and knowledgeable staff... definitely worth a repeat visit
Best store for graphic novels in all of San Diego. The people that work here are the best. Love having convos with them about the latest reads in the comic universe.UPDATE: I forgot to mention how family friendly this place and the Liberty Station location is. They have the best books for children and young adult. When I use to work at the Juvenile Hall, I teamed up with this store to provide educational and mainstream graphic novels to our at risk youth. One of the best things I did while working at the hall.
Such kind customer service and a large span of comics!
Great neighborhood comic shop
Knowledgeable comic book fans. A great experience! Ill go back again and again and again. Actually we going there for years I get a lot of my scoops about comics and even Comic-Con from these guys. why they dont have a YouTube channel or podcast still baffles me.
These guys have a great selection of comic books on hand and tons of collectables. The staff is super friendly. Ive been stopping in here and there for at least 10 years.
I love stores like this! It definitely feels like being on a treasure hunt. I enjoyed just browsing the stacks aimlessly, but i heard the staff helping other customers who were looking for very specific things, so win-win. They were very friendly and checked in multiple times to see if we needed help.
Although my visit was brief--as I had little time before an appointment--I was impressed with the size of this store and the variety of comics.I walked away having spent $60.00 on some issues of my favorite series, a graphic novel, and a shirt. Super happy with my purchases & the kindness of the gentleman working there.Id absolutely return when I have more time!
Has alot of comic books
Went with a friend who is a comic book collector, who says that this store has a good selection & was happy to spend money there
The selection was awesome
Its great to see that this gem is still standing strong when a lot of local businesses are failing against the corporate machine. Very knowledgeable staff. It has the usual comic book shop clutter. A lot of good finds here, and an amazing graphic novel selection.
When it comes to local, as in around San Diego and the La Jolla area, this is one of the comic book shops you should definitely stop by. They have a great variety of comic books to go through and if you ever need help finding a recommendation or a particular book the staff is a great help with that. The one staff who helped me when I came always seems to know a good swatch of books to recommend if you ask him. Asides form that the merchandise, from toys to other, are also in a good variety for what other comic book shops offer. This particular shop is a cool place.
Great place, lots of comic books here
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff! They have a great little area for kids as well.
Awesome Comic Store!
WAY TOO CLUTTERED, can hardly walk around. Hard to see anything on sale.
The staff knows how to gently handle the comics at the counter when its time to make a purchase. They are friendly and also have a great selection on New Comic book day.
I was in town for the week and its comic book day. Google showed this as the first result for comic book stores, so off I went. The shop is located in a nice, chill area. Plenty of parking and pretty easy to find. They have new releases and back issues comics, along with other collectibles like Funko Pops and figurines. The owner of the place was really nice and we chatted a bit about the new Marvel reboot. He also helped me finding the new books I need. Overall its a very good experience and I would definitely go back here again whenever Im in town.
Great store! So many fun toys and books, youll definitely find whatever youre looking for in there. Friendly and helpful staff.
Im not really a comic person so this review is just from a checking it out point of view, not a hard core collector. The store, when I visited was over-run with boxes and stuff everywhere. It gave me a sense of that TV show hoarders. It seemed like the selection was good, and there was quite a few people in there so there must be some kind of draw. They did have some cool items that I havent found elsewhere.
Great Store, vast selection, knowledgeable staff who engage and are enthusiastic about comics. This is my go to store for physical copies these days. Its a great place to browse for new stuff and has a very broad inventory.
My favorite comic shop. Its organized chaos, kept clean and bright. The dudes up front are friendly and cool, and they have a 2nd location at Liberty Station.
All ur favorites comic books u can find it here
The staff is cool and the owner can be rude. If you have seen the Simpsons you probably know what I am talking about. I dont understand why the store always looks so messy. Can be a great store just needs stronger leadership or a new owner. I have been to both locations and was talking about the Liberty Station site.
Love Comickaze. Its compact and a bit messy, but, really, thats part of the charm. It has a good selection, an entire kids section, and the staff are the best!
If youre looking for individual issues of anything but the latest and greatest, look elsewhere. They do have a thorough collection of trade paperbacks and friendly staff!
Love Robert and his entire staff... everyone really goes out of their way to help you out, and they all REALLY know their stuff! If they dont know about it, it doesnt exist. You can literally walk in and ask them about nearly anything that is obscure or not popular, and they will find the exact spot in the store where it is...and these guys are true Comic Geeks in every good and positive sense of the word!Very glad, and even luckier, to be going there for years and years.Thank the universe that they are here, and here in San Diego with me!
This place is great. I live pretty far from the location but if I need comics this is where I go. Sure the store is a little messy and on the unorganized side, but they have the best selection of comics and trades you will find in the city. If you cant find what your looking for the staff will look it up for you and if they dont have it, guess what? They will track it down and order it for you. They sell products online but if you walk in they will sell you those books at a cheaper price. They have hooked me up with some great books and have also helped me in a pinch when buying a gift. I have had nothing but good experiences here. The staff is friendly. They know what they are talking about and can tell you about the books your buying which believe it or not is sorta rare these days. They are not mind readers though, theyll greet you but if you need help just ask.If your looking for an organized shop with no personality go to Borders, if you want so cool books or obscure/old story arcs check this place out.
For serious Comics fans only.
They have some truly unique items -- especially from Saga of Image Comics. Cozy fit, but definitely worth a visit! They seem to sway towards DC in some of their mechandise, but there is something for everyone.
Had a good time shopping around. The manager was very helpful and friendly. My wife let me buy something. Cool.
Store is amazing. The new release rack is awesome. They male sure to have it stocked. You can usually anything youre looking for. Large selection of back dated and collection books. And large selection of variants behind the counter at great prices. Found a 1:50 Darth Vader #1 here at a great price. This is my favorite comic shop in San Diego.Staff is great with exception to one guy. Long hair dude is the best ! Then the bald guy with glasses is also very helpful. Just beware of the middle-aged white man. Hes very rude and lacks essential costumer service skills. I hate when I walk in and he is there.Other than the 1 rude worker. This place is amazing !!!!
These guys are very knowledgeable and they been around here for as long as I can remember
Love this place! Great staff, very polite, and perfect suggestions within my taste.
Called them up to ask them if there was anyone on site that could look at some books I have that are going for a lot of money on line right now (Preacher 1-3 with flyer for example) and was repeatedly interrupted with the employee saying we dont want that and so on. As someone who never collected seriously and hasnt bought books in almost twenty years what I was hoping for was someone who knows comics to just look at them and say I would say this comic is around fine or whatever. Not that I planned to hold them to it or use their company name to represent the opinion but just as a clueless guy looking for some guidance. When I finally got the question out the guy tried to tell me about the CGC which I already knew about and didnt want to deal with and when I explained that he informed me that there is no one at that comics store who can give me an any guidance on my comics quality. Obviously it was a less than satisfactory interaction.
This place is a mess, I would deffinitely be worried for people in here if there was a fire. The selection of games seems expansive, but good luck finding the one your looking for seeing as how there all stacked on the ground in a series of massive piles. Kinda felt like I was in a horders house
Four stars because I think the place is cool but there are other comic book stores that offer more (older) back issues, rarer comics and such. However there TPB stock is Amazing! If Im looking for a trade that no other shop has they most likely have it.I would like to mention that they should find a better way to display the variants or more expensive comics than keeping them behind the counter. I understand its a cluttered in there but if you want to actually sell the comics it would be wise to actually show them off.Another reason for only four stars is because I asked to look at one comic issue behind the counter, a BW variant of the walking dead, and the gentleman responded, oh you mean the $1000 one? And proceeded by NOT even offering to show me the comic. Kinda rude but oh well, I figured theyll never sell it if they dont even offer to show it. There loss.Other than that, Its a cool place for newer and more recent comics and trades. If youre looking for older comic issues, like bronze or silver, try elsewhere.
I went there two weeks ago and I was disappointed !Multiple gems are available at this ( japanized Iron Man, Thor and Batman for instance). As a lot of people underlined it, the store can be a bit messy but trust me, it wont spoil your shopping experience. Moreover, the manager was really helpful in my ! researches !Dont hesitate to go
Great store, great selection, great kids section too
Lots of cool comics and variety of things. The prices for some of the items was more that most were worth compared to other places.
Great place but exorbitantly expensive
Probably the best comic book shop thats left that Ive ever been to!
Loved this place, tons of overstock, a little conjested and clutteres, but totally worth visiting. They had what looked like regular prices (not to pricey). Seems like a great store to visit, ton of material to spend your hard earned cash on. Saw some better variety than comics and stuff. Ton of toys, busts, action figures, Past Mags, comics, novels, graphic novels, posters, signs, book specials. Etc.Check it out.
Awesome store with a great selection and a staff that is super willing to help and filled with tons of awesome suggestions! My favorite shop hands down!
Fun and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely be coming here for my nerdy needs!
Great shop! Good stock, great customer service :D
Great customer service. A lot of comics 😁Cant wait to re visit.
They always are willing to go out of their way to get the issue you need, staff is super friendly.
Great store with friendly and helpful staff. Excellent selection of books.
They have all sorts of goodies here and great staff that are eager and willing to help if you need it.
A true comic book store!
As an out of towner during Comic-Con, these guys were great and very helpful.
O e the best places for Comics, memorabilia, pop culture knowledge and a helpful friendly demeanor.
Helpful staff. Just got back into comics.
It may look a bit squashed and disorganized, but Comikaze has a great variety of comics, trade paperbacks, and some manga. Theres even a sizable childrens area and some clothing and toys. Not to mention the staff is incredibly knowledgable and friendly.
The best comic shop in California and Robert the owner is knowledgeable . Must go for any comic book fan .
Really great selection and nice (and knowledgeable) staff.
Nice guys will to help out new comic book readers.
I read quite a few of the reviews and while I am no longer collecting comic books I still enjoy looking. I am leaving a slightly negative review for quality but that is only because I am looking at the store from a retail store planners eyes and not as a shopper. (Please do not eliminate this store from your list of stores for comics but maybe we can get the owner to get a better looking store) I am of the age that was around when some of the original comic books were first published and are collectors items today! (ROP) Anyway, while I do enjoy seeing all the old stuff and some of the newer stuff, it is quite difficult to navigate the aisles at Comickaze. Wow, in some cases its go down an aisle at your own risk!! Having been a retail store planning consultant there are so many merchandising errors in the store it pains me to see them. However, if youre there for a look for something unusual maybe all of that can be overlooked... It is great to see that individual spirit and the Entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well at Comickaze!Alert!!If you are in the area be sure to stop by one the first Saturday in May every year for the free comic book day! Also, there are free photos with all of the characters from all of your favorite fantasy series ...Iron Man.. Star Wars.. Spiderman.. Ghost Busters!!All in one place and all at the same time! Almost a mini Comicon!
Huge selection. They have comics, merchandise, action figures, and more. They have all types of comics.
Love this place.
Really nice people and alot of supplies and extras.
Small comic book store packed to the gills with books, comic books, graphic novels, and collectibles. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who are enthusiastic about comics and willing to find what their customers need.
Great store polite staff amazing selection cluttered but understandable. Every thing is expensive in San Diego, except their prices. Ill be back for sure!
Great selection and knowledgeable staff
The selection seemed good. The store had a focus of collectables and the sorts
Might be one of the coolest comic book stores on the planet. Was surprised by their selection of memorabilia - like finding treasure in the Bat Cave.
Always has great stuff and recommendations
Comickaze is jam packed with merchandise and total graphic novel/anime/superhero overload. As my 7 year old says, This is MY PLACE!
They have Spider-man. I like Spider-man.
Bought 3 action figures, 2 DCs & a marvel select hulkbuster which had a good discount (from 69.10 dollars to 50.00). The clerk was friendly, Ill visit this store again.
Great selection. Love to browse.
Dope spot. Im hoping they get my favorite indie comic soon... Man Vs. Rock!
Unfriendly and was too busy talking to a friend to help me.
New to comic books. First time in to check it out and staff was very helpful.
