This is a legit tobacco establishment. Lots of fine cigars, pipe tobacco, pipes, humidors, magazines, and all the accessories. They also carry swedish Snus which isnt easy to find in the states. They carry 5 styles of the General brand by Swedish Match. They store it properly in chilled coolers so it maintains copper freshness. The staff is very knowledgeable and they have quite a community of customers hanging around enjoying a cigar or pipe at any given time. If youre looking to smoke a stogie and talk shop with some fellow cigar aficionados, this is definitely your place.

Not only does Liberty has a fantastic array of fine tobacco, they also have the best customers and employees. I have been going to this shop for over 25 years now and I look forward to going again today. They open in twenty minutes . . . Ill be getting a box for my daughters wedding. - - - - - However, when I got there, there was nobody there and it said it was closed. I wonder if it has gone online. Im gonna miss that place.

Liberty is a fantastic store, catering to all tobacco needs. Found this place while searching for a pipe club, and they had one each Sunday 2-5 prior to covid, great selection of pipe tobacco, cigars and even have RYO tobacco for cigarettes.Great lounge area, you can watch your favorite sports team and have a lively conversation with almost anyone.

The nicest guys in the world work here, especially Mike G. Its quite an experience to visit this place. Smells make memories, so if you are not a regular (and there are always a lot of regulars milling about), youre going to instantly be transported back to your dad, your grandpa, some old college professor... Whoever it was in your life who smoked cigars or tobacco pipes. Hopefully that is a pleasant experience for you as it was for me.

Where do I start. Found this place based on a recommendation and boy was it one of the best recs I have ever gotten. From the minute you walk I you feel like you are at home. People smile and say hi. the staff Michael and Ben are happy and excited to help you find what you want. Why this place does not 5 stars on here is beyond me. Like really I want to know. This shop has gone downhill since my last review, closing hours erratic not by what’s posted, cigar selection rates a C at best. I have cut my visitations’ here quite a bit. Too many better shops around with much more consistency.It looks even dirtier than a few months ago.

Service and selection are great, and the Entertainer is my favorite pipe blend of all time. But Ive never felt like coming in and sitting down for a cigar or pipe. The regulars are a little closed off. Its hard to explain, but Ive never had that feeling at any other cigar shop. Ill keep shopping there, but I doubt Ill smoke in-house.

Great if you are a cigar smoker. The guy behind the counter didnt know that much about pipe tobacco. Still their supply of tinned and bulk tobacco is decent and fairly priced. Im glad to support a local establishment.

Always a great experience. Very helpful when choosing cigars, pipes, pipe tobacco. Anything tobacco theyre there to help. They even have a pipe club Sundays! The only place Ill go so long as Im in San Diego.

Ive been coming here for probably about 10 years or so and for me its my favorite spot to sit down and have a smoke. Theres a charm to the place that is hard to put into words. Its not your fancy cigar lounge with leather chairs, local brews, and high-end scotch. What it IS, is a great local spot with a living room vibe, lived in furniture, and regulars who will strike up conversation with anyone that comes in. They dont serve alcohol which is kind of a plus because the cigars are significantly cheaper than some other places in town. So if youre like me and just need a coffee with your smoke youll be good. They always have a special going on and Ive happened to come in at times that theyve been doing a BBQ and theyve always hooked it up with food. If you do need food there are some pretty good spots to grab some grub and bring it into the shop.

The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to give recommendations. I smoke the occasional cigar and they have never lead me astray. Usually I smoke a pipe and I have always been impressed with their selection of pipe tobacco as well as smoking tools and pipes themselves. I even brought in one of my pipes to ask about its history and was given some great information.

Considering pricing and selection of cigars then this is in my opinion the best cigar store in the San Diego area (at least of the five I have visited). So my recommendation is to start at Liberty Tobacco, then go further up the road to Excalibur and check out their selection, which is also very good.

Probably the best cigar store in San Diego why ? because it has a giant cigar selection, along with reasonable prices (prices would be 30% higher if it was downtown) and you can smoke there, inside and out if you like. Not pretentious, knowledgeable and friendly .Ive probably shopped there 8 times in the last year and have not had a bad experience.I believe it may be the oldest tobacco store in San Diego and dont tell me about Laramie Tobacco in old town, limited selection, behind the counter where you cant even peruse them unless you had a gun and, staffed by arrogant folks who are charging ridiculous prices.

Its nice to find an old fashioned tobacco shop that doesnt look like it sells drug pipes. Was looking for different kinds of pipes and they had all sorts of pipes to choose from that werent glass. Great lounge to watch movies, play chess, relax, and smoke.

Great cigar shop -- not fancy, actually a little dumpy (their other shop up by Del Mar is swankier), but great selection of cigar brands and good service and nice folks. Plenty of chairs for smoking a stick while you are there and several TVs plus a little outdoor area with heaters and tvs if you want some fresh air with your smoke. Very helpful staff and selection of pipes and pipe tobacco along with smoking accessories - like lighters, humidors, cutters, etc.

Ive been to a number of tobacco shops over the years and can say, without a doubt, that Liberty has them all beat in every aspect. Their selection of cigars is fantastic and everything is reasonably priced. Everyone that I know that smokes cigars or rolls their own cigarettes goes to Liberty. The customer service is fantastic and they are always friendly. One thing I hate about most tobacco shops is always feeling like Im being watched or dont belong, well the guys at Liberty are always awesome and knowledgeable. They even gave my fiancee a free flavored cigar so she could smoke with me! I went there as long as I was in San Diego and cant recommend it enough!

Great staff and a wide selection of cigara and pipe tobacco. I stopped by to pick a cigar for a bachelor and after wedding celebration. I cant recall the gentlemans name but he asainted me greatly in choosing a cigar with mellow flavor and light smoke. Ill probably go here to pick up something for my birthday.

I was looking for a cigar lounge near the San Diego International Airport to kill some time before catching a plane back to Ft. Lauderdale. Liberty Tobacco was the closest cigar store to my location so I stopped by to check it out.What I found was the coolest cigar store and lounge I haver ever had the privilege of visiting. The staff was friendly, the cigar selection was good and the folks patronizing the establishment were friendly and had good conversation. This place feels like home and I will visit again next time Im in the area.

Close to the only pipe shop in San Diego. They have a good selection of tobacco and a knowledgeable staff. The only reason they have a four instead of a five is all the political propaganda posted around the shop.

This is the best tobacco shop in San Diego for pipe tobacco ive been to so far. I went to Racine & Laramie Tobacconist, and little Italy tobacco, and their prices dont come close. They have the lasgest available test pipe tobacco that Ive seen. Cant go wrong coming here.

This is a great cigar shop. Prices are more than fair and they carry seconds for upmann as well as Alec Bradley seconds for those wanting a high quality smoke at a relatively inexpensive price. They dont carry Liga Privada, alas, but maybe someday....Overall theyve got a good selection including the My Father series, all the majors including Patel, R&J,Julius Caesar and crown cigars, etc. etc.Theyve got nice comfortable chairs and plenty of niche places to sit alone or with friends.I highly recommend heading here if you want to find a nice place with nice people smoking cigars.

Just like you I was looking for a place with reliable selection, great staff, and a welcoming experience. I stimbled across this place by a mere google search the same as you and decided based on the reviews below mine that I would give them a shot. I have been smoking cigars since about 2007 and as a result have tried several different types of cigars from literally all around the world...this includes cuban cigars as well...however, I never really stored them. I was the type to buy a few sticks and either smoke them right away or stick them in a small travel humidor for later use. Going into Liberty tobacco I knew what I wanted. I was ready to take it to the next level and purchase a humidor and all the works to fill that humidor. Consequently, knowing I was going to choose this place to start up a collection ...I decided to do research. Liberty tobacco has a youtube channel which i found by simply searching the name...on that youtube channel they have a video touring the shop and talking about various other items...I recommend watching ghese videos it will give you a chance to visit the store from the comfort of your home to really get an idea of who you are going to be working with and the inventory they have available.In summary: staff was knowledgable, realistic, and the selection is PLENTIFUL (members of TAA). As a result of spending a pretty penny a free t-shirt and cigar was thrown in as a thank you. Prices are reasonable and the experience was completely worth it. Highly recommend!
