It was Saturday morning of my quick one day work trip to San Diego and I wanted to eat something healthy. I asked the ladies at the hotel front desk and one of them recommended Cafe Gratitude. An all Vegan Cafe with Dine In near Little Italys Saturday farmers market sounded like the perfect place for breakfast.I arrived at the location a little before 9am. There were a few people in line but the restaurant had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating once they opened. The service girl was very friendly, and she gave me an entire booth by the window all to myself. It was a great location to sit, enjoy the sun and people watch.The place was very modern and chic. It had a great vibe and was very clean. All the servers wore masks and were very attentive. Ordering and payment is done on your smart phone with a QR reader. I really enjoyed this but thought this is definitely not for those who are technically disinclined.I pursued the menu of vegan wraps, bowls, smoothies etc. I decided to go with a Nourish breakfast wrap with a matcha tea sans milk. I easily added it to my cart, made some additional selections and paid. In a short while one of the servers stopped by with my tea. Soon after my breakfast wrapped arrived.Something I enjoyed and thought was unique is the server has a question of the day. The question that day was what inspires your creativity? It was a thought provoking question and I spent the rest of the meal thinking about that and how much I was enjoying this delicious breakfast meal in beautiful San Diego.Anyway, I would highly recommend Cafe Gratitude if you are looking for a laid back dose of healthy food and drinks in beautiful San Diego.

I really enjoy this place. It’s the first time I was at the one in San Diego. I have only been to the one in LA.Service was great. They started to use the Toast App which I personally enjoyed. Pay for stuff beforehand & as soon as it is paid for, it gets sent to the kitchen to be prepared. Whenever you’re finished, just get right up & leave.All the dishes were spectacular & our service did not hinder lack with the Toast App.I’ll be back soon.

I would move to San Diego for this restaurant. Seriously can not say enough good things about this place. From the look, to service, definitely the food, everything was amazing. We got three plates, two drinks, and a cinnamon roll and every bite was spectacular. In addition to being vegan I am also gluten free and there were so many options. I was so surprised about the cinnamon roll… I can never find them, but these were amazing!!

Hands down one of the best plant-based allergen-conscious restaurants Ive ever eaten at. The concept, the atmosphere, the device,the food, the creativity, the desserts, juices, smoothies and hot drinks all get an A+

The smoothies! It was hard to choose just one. Absolutely my favorite smoothies and almost dessert like. The highlight was the gluten free cinnamon roll. It took over 40 minutes to get the rolls after ordering. It wasnt until I asked about it that prompted them to heat the rolls and then later serve. We didnt have service other than being provided water and a transparent menu, which was super informative and appreciated.

Service was good. All ordering is done from your cellphone and it works well. The staff just delivers, with a smile. The food was very good. Super fresh and well prepared. The names of the food are cute, Gratitude-spiritual-theme style and it takes a moment to find what you want. The menu has a lot of choices. Portions are medium. Prices are a bit high but worth it. The ambiance is very good. The restaurant is on a corner and two walls are almost all window and so you get to people watch in a quiet manner. There is beautiful outdoor seating if you want. Everything is on the first floor and so this is a good restaurant if you are mobility challenged. Very clean and well organized.

If you are in Little Italy area looking for tasty vegetarian food, I think this is a pretty good fit. Ordering and paying using an app is brilliant. You can just walk away after you are done with your meal. They use mushrooms creatively - in burritos, in noodles, deep fried etc. Dish names are little weird. I am original is a burrito, which is tasty dont get me wrong, but I think kelp noodles (Pad Thai) was more original. Quesadillas were huge. Side fries were stale, they were probably sitting in the kitchen. As for the cost... For a price of 2 burritos you are getting one plus a view of downtown sidewalk. If you drove here, you park at a meter, assuming you can find one. I can see it can be fun to have a brunch here with friends and family, or if you live nearby, but I am not sure if I want the trouble of driving here to eat. If this place were more accessible and prices were more reasonable it would be 5/5

We always love Cafe Gratitude and try to come here every time we visit San Diego. My wife enjoyed the I AM Terrific (kelp noodle pad Thai) and the I AM Pure (kale and sea vegetable salad). I had the I AM Happy (spicy Korean pulled mushroom sandwich). Sooooo GOOD!!!

Really delicious vegetarian food. The yams and mint chutney was very delicious, the salad was filling, the cauliflower was bomb too. I haven’t had nothing. Like that since I was in England. Brought me good memories thanks cafe gratitude!!!!😚☺️☺️☺️☺️I’m so impressed by this cafe 🥺💛🧡

I hardly know where to start. The food here is fabulous! I wanted to try just about everything on the menu!100% plant-based ingredients and the majority of the menu is gluten-free. Heaven!And they definitely delivered on taste, quality and value. I was really glad that the desserts were a little pricey or I might have been tempted to order a second...not because I was hungry...just because it was delicious. 😋I ordered the Elated Enchiladas, the Hibiscus Booch and topped it all off with the Opulant warm (GF) chocolate chip cookie topped with chocolate hazelnut oatmilk ice cream. We always enjoy eating here. New covid protocols with in-app ordering makes things a little different for some of us old folks but not anything this old dog cant learn. We always look forward to visiting Cafe Gratitude, especially when we can sit outside and enjoy the nice, San Diego weather.

This is one of my fave vegan spots in San Diego. I absolutely LOVE the chilaquiles with tofu scramble and avocado (add one). The acai bowl is really great too! My only note is that the dishes are too small for the food so it’s difficult to eat. All they need is bigger plates, otherwise love this place! Another downsides is you have to order everything on an app before you get your food, so you sont get to experience the great service they had before.

First time visiting. Clean, honest and all vegan food items. I had the chocolate cookie, bean burger with fries and passion fruit kombucha. All very delicious & hearty. At first I ordered the flax seed pancakes and hot cocoa but didn’t suit my tastebuds so I spoke the manager who kindly took another order for me. I will definitely return for another bean burger. Be prepared to drive further away from the location if you want free parking. Otherwise you have to pay for parking.

All things to be grateful for!Must tries...I Am Pure Salad - a delicious mass of hearty green things (kale, sea vegetables, avocado, and cucumber) topped with toasted almonds and a garlic wasabi tahini dressing.I Am Enthusiastic Fried Mushroom Sandwich (ordered as a wrap). A fantastic vegan twist on a buffalo chicken sandwich, rich and homey with buffalo sauce, vegan ranch, lettuce and tomatoes.I Am Liberated Bowl - A wonderful pile of healthy guilt free kelp noodles with a vegan pesto, heirloom tomatoes, and brazil nut based vegan Parmesan. Theres nothing more satisfying than sitting down to a huge plate of pasta and with something this good and low carb, you just cant go wrong.I Am Whole Macrobiotic Bowl - a super colorful and flavorful medley of adzuki beans, yams, sea vegetables, fresh kimchee and quinoa. A wonderful way to eat the rainbow!

Ive been working at this coffee shop for a year. I still crave their coffee. By the way, it tastes very different from the other coffee shops in town, in a good way. Not only did I come here every morning for the coffee, but they also had a lovely atmosphere. Their employees are also very friendly and accommodating. Keep up the good work!

Healthy and delicious plant-based fare in this amazing vegan restaurant. Each dish is a unique adventure with exotic combinations of ingredients. The buffalo cauliflower is the best and a must-try. Good selection of wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks to complement the meal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are very high given food is vegan.

I love this restaurant. The plant based food is out of this world and the staff are so wonderful at each location. This place has wonderful options and they are all pretty well priced! All of the entrees were roughly the same price. Everything we got had amazing flavor combinations and was well sized for the price. We got 2 entrees and an appetizer and it was more than enough for us! So good. Will definitely be back to try more

I am at San Diego to join Best Year Ever Blueprint. Lots of people recommended this place. It did not disappoint. The food is light, healthy, and delicious. Drinks are good good. Highly recommended.

Ive been to three different locations and my partner has been to all but one (including the original locations in the Bay Area) and this has been the best food weve had at any of them. I had the I Am Fuerte (basically a marinated mushroom crunch wrap) and it SO FAR exceeded my expectations. It was quite simply amazing. No exaggerating. My partner ordered the I Am Glorious and while I didnt like it quite as much as my own food it was also delicious. We will definitely be back.

Honestly, it was the worst vegan sandwich I have ever had and I’ve had a few. They tried to hide the little fried mushroom under a head of lettuce. That’s not the worst part. The flavor, that was the worst part. Some kind of ragu tomatoey nonsense coated the mushroom. It tasted cheap and icky, no real flavor. It was just extremely disappointing at the price point. The other people in my group enjoyed their food but the brown rice was so undercooked it was still hard. Maybe I’ll give it another try... but probably not. A wicked air of pretentiousness moves through this place.

Overall from 2 dishes tried a pasta dish and another bowl pricey small servings $17 for small lunch type plate. Ingredients good but recipes used, leave something to be desired. Ok service but doesnt seem like a place I would return too. And I am used to vegan cuisine and have had much better.

The bowl is called I am whole but it should be called I am full because this thing is LOADED!This bowl from Cafe Gratitude was filled with butternut squash, adzuki beans, sea vegetables, kimchi, and more! I can’t wait to go back for more!

Had to check out this restaurant on my recent stay in San Diego. Although I really wanted to enjoy the outside patio dining, parking was really hard to come by when I attempted, so I opted to have my meal delivered. Did not disappoint. Very yummy! What was equally gratifying were the affirming words on the bag, and the names for my meal, such as I am Nourished and I am Courageous. Little things!

Great coffee and amazing desserts. We enjoyed our weekend here for we were able to meet new friends while having coffee together with my old chums. We also ordered desserts because one of our friends is not a coffee lover. The dessert is very delicious. What we liked most here is the very warm and accommodating owner who entertained us nicely. We would definitely go back to this place. Nice location!

Kitchen backed up- unfortunately I will no longer go back. Awful parking options had us circling for 30 min. When we get there at 12:50, the 15-min wait turned into closer to 30. Ironically, the place is empty with plenty of available seating but b/c the kitchen is backed up they cant seat anyone and ordering to-go is also not an option b/c of the backlog. Nothing they can do should be more apologetic with the offering of tasters while we wait or maybe a free app when we do get seated instead of having to wait outside while getting accosted by the mentally ill homeless.

The food is amazing and the service is great. We sat indoors and scanned the QR code to enter our order using an app called toastme or something like that. It was easy; there was even a space for special requests for each item. We enjoyed our meal, but I couldnt give them 5 stars because it was a little slow and too expensive for my budget. Also, I suspect that parking near Cafe Gratitude is difficult, but I didnt even try. We walked from Balboa Park via Maple Canyon which is wonderful.

This was our favourite place when we visited San Diego. We went there most days, prices are a bit expensive but the food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. Love the daily gratitude notes too!! We had some of the salads and they were good sized servings, we also went here for dessert one night and had the cookie with ice cream, it was DF and GF! Yum!

So, so, so good. Vegan friendly, and some of the best food I have eaten in the past 10 years. The Mexican style potatoes were outstanding. Okay, everything was outstanding, but these potatoes seemed to fill a hole in my soul lol.The menu is a bit odd, but meaningful. The dishes are called things like powerful and calm - and you order by saying I am powerful (etcetera.) I thought that was neat.

The location is incredible, and the coffee is delicious. Even if youre not leaving the area, its worth making the effort to stop by. Its well worth the money! I retrieve and deliver with DoorDash; and this store always has the food prepared in a timely fashion, hot and fresh. Always well packaged. We have visited several of their location and its difficult posting this review for the San Diego Location. The food quality and taste is always amazing. The service at the SD location, was disappointing. On our most recent visit, after hour wonderful meal, we ordered two scoops of ice cream which was about $10 + the auto added TIP. We received about 1/4-1/2 scoops and when we let the server know, she just apologized and moved on, did nothing. When I mentioned it to another server, she asked what did I want to do, with an attitude. She asked: Do you want more ice cream? At which I replied NO. She offered to credit 50% of the cost of the ice cream which I thought was fair. At this point, I already mentioned it 2x and was aggravated with the attitude. The added amount was never refunded. This review is not about the dollar amount but the lack of attention or personal care. We have visited this location several times and we drive from Temecula to enjoy their food. Its always been a great experience until this last visit. We have also visited their other locations in SF, LA and Newport, and Id have to say this time, we left disappointed. One other thing, Your CASHLESS ORDER/payment system shouldnt force a TIP when we are paying.

So I didnt realize it wad a vegan restaurant when I sat down.I have to say, not only is it the best Vegan restaurant in San Diego, is one of the best restaurants.

Cafe Gratitude is one of the greatest Vegan restaurants of all time. There’s also Kindred (Vegan) in Golden Hill which is amazing. The service at Cafe Gratitude is top notch. I’ve never had anything bad here and I frequent often. I’m not even Vegan either haha. The food is all plant based and “healthy” and the staff is very knowledgeable. Last month I spent $4000 on dinning and I’ve gone to a lot of restaurants in Southern California. I don’t know another team of people more knowledgeable then the friendly people at Cafe Gratitude. They also have beer and wine here, and I was told today that they just got a new Gluten Free IPA that people have been apparently raving about. I’ll be sure to try that within an hour. It has an upscale feel and environment to it, really clean and quick service. I’m here at 11:30 around lunch and I literally got my “Whole Bowl” seen in the photo in probably less then 6 minutes to be conservative. They can be really fast, the bean burger is also great, and they have a good selection of wellness shots. One of my favorites is the “Brave” shots. They of course have coffee options and great smoothies to choose from. I would highly recommend, thank you to the staff, management, owners and anyone reading this. Be sure to check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Been here twice, and both times the service was quick and friendly despite the busy hour. This place offers a large variety of unique plant-based dishes, and the ones Ive had were delicious. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to have a nice tasty, healthy meal. One of my favorite vegan restaurants:)

This is an awkward cafe. The names in the menu give you no idea what youre ordering requiring you to read the entire menu. Im not sure why the Mexican dish needs to be named I am mucho.The staff was very new age and not a lot of fun to deal with. Meals are nourishing not a way of lifeThe food was tasty but Im probably not going back.

The food and atmosphere are incredible! We ordered a variety of the menu items and came back a couple of times during our week in San Diego. Cannot recommend this place enough. I will be back on future San Diego trips.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in San Diego. Plus its all vegan! Yay! The atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant is impeccable. The staff is always the sweetest, kindest, and most helpful. I have some food allergies (avocados and mushrooms) and they are so kind as to give me a special menu on an iPad where you can look at the dish of your internet and see what ingredients are used, so you can avoid any allergies. The food is ALWAYS satisfying and Im never disappointed. When you order, its so fun to speak the affirmations of the dishes of your choice. Such good energy here - atmosphere, staff, food, and drinks. The location is so fun! Little Italy is a lovely neighborhood! Parking can be a bit tough. But I always find something within a decent radius and dont mind walking - its definitely worth it! I am excited to share this place with family and friends when they come visit.

We picked Cafe Gratitude especially to bring my cousin Mary Mansfield, the sweetest little English Vegan gal setting off to hike the PCT! We had the Guacamole and Buffalo Cauliflower for appetizers, and for entrees; the Indonesian Grain Bowl, the Burrito, and the Blackened Tempeh Bolognaise. All the dishes were good but IMO the ‘Devoted’ was THE BEST! I would highly recommend it! Want to know more about a brave English girl hiking the PCT and doing it ‘Vegan’ ? I love the atmosphere but the parking was horrendous. If you can walk, Uber, Lyft or take a taxi, I would recommend it. However, I am not a local and there may be other options that Im unaware of.Yet the food and dessert were excellent. And the service was also excellent. Plant-based love, I shall return!

Specialties and signature dishes, shareables and desserts and great healthy cocktails from organic fruits and veggies. We really enjoyed this place and they add some fun into the conversation daily by soaking discussion about the food names and other topics. Only reason Im giving it 4 stars out of 5 this time is because our server Veronica was not very engaged or attentive as others. Service is just as important as the products in this industry or any. Check it out though, dont think youll be disappointed.

Food is decent - not amazing. I order from here quite frequently, but today will be my last order. I had placed a delivery order received it and the packaging was fine but the burger pattie inside was completely smashed for some reason and some of the back bean pattie was under the burger, which completely soaked the bun making it inedible as a burger. I called to let them know what I had received, they told me they could not refund me, I said that was fine I dont want a refund I want a replacement and ill pick it up myself they agreed. I got there gave my name and they said it would be a few minutes. 15 minutes later I asked someone else and they went to check and left me waiting in the front for another 10 minutes. Finally I went to the register to find my order had been ready the entire time but they placed it under a servers name instead of mine. What gets me is I spoke to two people and neither of them had the decency to tell me there was not an order under my name. Then they charged me for the replacement burger - full price. So yeah I paid for 2 sub-par burgers. One that was smashed and not due to delivery, because packaging was fine and the other was cold because they could not just tell me from the beginning that there was not an order under my name. I questioned why they would not refund said I had to go through delivery service, doordash gave me back 3 buck in credit. Just very disappointed in how I was treated and the service I received. I guess they saved 20 buck in not replacing my burger, but they definitely lost a lot more from me never coming again and they wont be missed.

My favorite cafe in San Diego! Service is top notch and the ambiance is so wonderful (relaxing yet fun with good music always playing). Their food is not only organic and healthy but SO delicious. I absolutely love all of their smoothies, lattes, and juices as well. A must go to in San Diego!

Im not vegan but I come here because the food is delicious!!!!!! Beautiful restaurant. We had the WELCOMING Mediterranean sampler plate and the HUMBLE Indian curry bowl. DELICIOUS!!!

This is the perfect location for coffee lovers because it is the only place that offers the best flavors for your coffee. The ambiance is truly incredible. Youd be smitten by the coffee theme painted on the wall and the delicious coffee theyd serve. The employees are also very polite and eager to help customers.

Ordered the Glorious (blackened tempeh wrap) and it was really good. Wish the side salad was more than a handful of spring mix. The cashier was really helpful with the menu since Id never eaten there.

Amazing selection of vegan and vegetarian options! I am not even a vegetarian and found many things on the menu that I would eat. Choose from appetizers, entrees, burgers, and rice bowls. Also offering beer and wine. Worth a try.

The food here was amazing. It was fresh, tasty, and spicy (a little too spicy for me). Servings are big. Relatively pricy. Good setting...neat but music a little too loud.

I wish I lived in San Diego just for this restaurant! Completely plant based menu. Amazing and friendly staff. Spectacular food choices that taste great! I will come here every single time I am in town. I cannot speak highly enough of this place.

The atmosphere of the place is bright and welcoming. Customer service is great! It was my first time trying this cafe and well I was not too impressed with the food and price. Ordered the mushroom sand which. The red sauce was over bearing and the mushrooms were chewy. Guess I ordered the wrong thing today but I’m willing to give it another shot.

I’ve never had better food in my life, healthy tasty all in one, everybody should try this one, you won’t be disappointed!

Great vegan food, lots of choices, high quality produce and excellent all around.We had the nachos and Mexican bowl, both were incredible but I would suggest to be careful doing our combo because it felt like we were eating the same food for our starter and main.

They have the greatest coffee in all of the coffee places Ive visited. They also have a pretty solid team, which is a bonus.

Very well prepared food in a clean comfortable restaurant.I have to disagree with negative reviews on service: I was warmly greeted, had the menu thoughtfully explained, and was well taken care of by the bartender.The beer selection is weak, but you might as well try one if their vegan concoctions (when in Rome...).Happy hour from 3 til 6 has several items for $6...a substantial discount and still really good. Dont miss dessert. Key lime pie is fantastic.

Delicious and nutritious, and finally a restaurant where I can eat anything I want to on the menu. And I want to eat all of it, lol! Its all delicious, and you leave feeling good, not weighed down. The staff were all really kind, and the whole place was kept very clean. We visited twice during our 8 day stay in San Diego, and would gladly go again!

I am all about eating healthy but I can never thought about it could be so tasty. I have never walked out from a vegan restaurant that I feel like I want to go there every day. This is definitely one of them. Plus the servers are so friendly and trying to attend your needs.

Great meals.. They have a very good selection of vegan foods and drinks.. 👌
