First time here as we were visiting from the Bay Area and staying at The Lafayette -- absolutely loved this place!! Great coffee, awesome aesthetic and vibes, freshly made food, DOG FRIENDLY (!!!), super friendly staff, small yet charming outdoor seating, and a selection of board games to play at your table. My husband and I came in search of breakfast and were not disappointed -- I had drip coffee and the strawberry chia avocado toast, he had an iced Mexican mocha and one of the breakfast wraps, it was all super tasty and just the right amount of food. Make sure to say hi to Athena, the shop dog wandering around greeting everyone! This is also a wine tasting room, and I hope to come back later to experience that side of Grind & Vine as well!! 🍷☕🐶🐾💙💚💛💜💗
What a great find! This little diamond in rough is dog and people friendly! Great food and some pretty tasty wines. The owners and staff are gregarious, not too mention knowledgeable about their product. Highly recommend for a quick bite or a long drink!
I was visiting San Diego just for a day, and making a stop at Grinds and Vines with my best friend was probably the highlight of my trip. Its connected to a cute, winery. The staff were so welcoming. The space was kept clean and organized. It felt very homey which I always love. I order a hot chai and an avocado toast. Both were delicious and the perfect morning breakfast--all were for a great price too! Refreshing and healthy! The cafe also came with a cute, friendly dog! My friend and I noticed many outlets that were perfect for those who came to work on some things. There were also a couple of fun, board games that are perfect for that homey feeling.Im looking forward to coming back to San Diego and visiting Grinds and Vines.
Friendly staff and awesome friendly local owner, great food, feels just like a coffee shop should. Great place to get work done on the outdoor patio on a weekend morning. Construction is done on the nearby apartments, so hope it doesnt start getting too crowded.
The atmosphere of the place is very cool and the designs of the decor is very comforting and nice. Theyre staffs exceptionally kind and fun.
Artful and clean environment, great upbeat music, good coffee. The place exudes passion. I tried the Back Alley Buzz AKA coffee and espresso, no frills. Strong and the flavor 7/10. Baristas are welcoming and attentive but not at all overwhelming. Cool spot!
I work just down the street and stop in here pretty frequently during lunch. The coffee is always amazing, staff is super friendly, and I love their dog Athena! A perfect place to stop in and hang out, or just to grad a delicious coffee to hit the road. Highly recommend!
Visiting from Milwaukee, looking to wake up & found the place. Good coffee nice atmosphere and friendly staff. They will have my business for my stay. Love to support local business
A peaceful place for coffee and coffeehouse food on a weekend morning. They have a house dog that is as gentle and sweet as can be. That should tell you what you need to know about the vibe.
Some of the best coffee Ive found in San Diego and in my personal Top 2. Great local neighborhood spot, easy to relax, friendly staff who care about the quality of their coffee. Also tried the breakfast croissant sandwich today for the first time and Im definitely going to be getting them more than I should now.
They serve good Lavazza brand coffee and croissants. Its a pet-friendly establishment. Outdoor seating area is nice, but currently (Oct 2017) suffers from the loud building construction next door.
This place is so great! I found them last time I visited SD, and love it.It is a homey local business with a friendly staff (and dog), with quality drinks and food, and great service.
Great coffee in the morning, great wine at night! Brian is an excellent dude and very knowledgeable. Rare to find that kind of expertise nowadays. This place is going to be a true gem in the neighborhood and San Diego
My wife and I visited San Diego last weekend and I was thrilled that this place was a short walk from our hotel. The coffee was great, and the food was incredible. The Better Beech sandwich is a must if you are hungry. It has a chipotle aioli that really compliments all of the flavors going on. Also, this place is great for vegans/vegetarians. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff is friendly. Cant wait to come back next year!
This place is like a bad joke. Our friends told us to turn around or keep going when we passed them on their way out/our way in. We figured would try it anyways since the only other thing nearby is McDonalds. Its going on 35 minutes and Im still waiting for my breakfast sandwich. The coffee took over 20. The staff keeps asserting to every customer that theyre new which is believable. They should never have been left unsupervised. The menu has the instructions for the staff on it, like how to construct each sandwich 😆 Im about to go make it myself I think...38 minutes and no sandwich.
This is my favorite spot in the area for coffee. Brian is super friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Its great to have a place where they really care about their customers and their coffee
Charged me an extra 50 cents to have my coffee decaf and didnt bring it to me or call my name/drink order when it was ready. Good coffee, but not worth the trouble. Wont be returning.
Super friendly staff! Great atmosphere. Love the coffee and sandiwches
The staff is really friendly, they have good coffee and great food as well. Best place to come and study for a while.
Great coffee, food and people. My puppy likes coming here to play with the house dog, and get a treat
Stumbled on this place and am so glad I did. Ive been to a lot of coffee shops over the years and Brian is an incredible barista. Rather than sticking to something traditional, I decided to go for the beech brew (cold brew + chocolate milk) which blew my mind. I definitely will be frequenting here!
Awesome little gem I found in SD great combination for coffee & wine enthusiasts!!! great service quality and great food at descent prices.
Great service with a smile and good coffee and eats too. Love the whole atmosphere in there.
Closed, showed up at 830am on Tuesday. Looks closed due to construction. No sign on door, no update to google times, no update on website.
Love this spot. Started coming here when it opened and its still me and my gfs fave coffee spot. One word: Espressochata.(Plus the food is super tasty and Brian is super friendly)
Came for breakfast, the sunrise toast was very good and perfect with my Americano. The ladies there were great and fast!
The perfect neighborhood coffeeshop. Includes delicious breakfast food, amazing blended drinks, and the best coffee accompaniment, Athena the shop dog.
Closed and boarded up.
Best americano ever. Espresso was smooth, added some hazelnut and BAMM! Party in my mouth.
Friendly staff, drinks served at perfect temperature, good food (more than anticipated!)
How do you mess up a Chai Tea? Well first you make it taste like sugar milk. Next you addd too much ice. Third you don’t fix it or make it right by your customer. Every upsetting reason to NOTwant to support your local business. 🤔😠
This place has fantastic ambience, amazing food, and delicious coffee. Im enjoying the El Puerco burrito with a Ugandan cold brew as I type this.
The sandwiches were great the drip which i drank black was rich and perfect. Ill certainly be back for more!
Great service, the place is pet friendly, they always receive me like family everytime i visit here.
Great dog friendly coffee Cafe. Good people too.
Coffee is great not too sweet. Taste like real coffee not sugar.
They have amazing chai lattes ! the venue is nice and it is right next to a wine tasting place. When we went there was some construction in the back which made the place loud but the barrista is very friendly.
Great coffee and breakfast, definitely a hidden gem of San Diego. We will be back!
As Grinds and Vine has two coffee-related words in its name, I will only rate my coffee experience.I had a Breve Macchiato (my usual) and also tasted the Lavazza filter coffee. The filter brew tasted quite dull and watered down. I was assured that they use dark roast, which is hopefully the Lavazza Gran Filtro. This is one of the varieties of beans we use at home and I have to say that with my cheap Costco machine I honestly get better results. So knowing that they use decent beans (theyre the most popular brand in Italy for a reason) and have good equipment (I saw it) Im wondering what the issue is. I sincerely doubt that they dont clean the equipment daily or use bad water, so the only things remaining are either the grind or the brewing method/time/proportions. In my opinion, you should be able to make a much tastier beverage from these beans. In my Macchiato I mainly tasted the cream and sugar despite the small quantity of half and half and the single sugar cube. Nothing like the dense, hazelnutty taste of the Lavazza Gran Crema espresso or the caramel tones of the Lavazza Super Crema, both of which I use at home with my Rancilio Silvia Espresso machine + Rancilio grinder. Again, this establishment has far superior equipment and the drink should be at least very good. I have no idea why it isnt but thats a fact.I was told that they also use Birdrock coffees, so I will check back to taste that and determine if Grinds and Vine deserves further attention. In this time of easily obtainable quality, a place like this has no good excuse not to serve excellent coffee.
Cute, peaceful Sunday morning coffee.
Amazing service, coffee and the food is delicious
Awesome good and coffee! Pet Athena!
Great cold brew!
Over priced. Paid more than $5.50 for French toast, and I got 1 slice of bread, cut into 4, burnt. Friend paid 7.50 for avocado toast, only got 1 slice. Was not worth the cost for such little food.
Excellent Espresso!
This place is everything!
