As many of these negative reviews have said, steer clear of these class act con artists. I have waited over a month for me equipment to be delivered for local. Being a local to San Diego and only a 15 minute drive from The Fitness Armorys San Diego location, I decided to come in and see why it was taking so long for my dumbbells and rack to come in as well as the fact that my emails and phone calls were all left unanswered. The staff were friendly and initially seemed helpful, however, I noticed the same runaround answers were given to me such as Itll be here this day, well give you a call., I have been told that every week for the past month. Enough was enough, after waiting on them to send me my order and missing out on the GAINZ, I went with another HONEST company who Ive done business with in the past. Id love to support a local San Diego business, but do yourselves a favor and steer clear of this crooks.
Deceitful ThievesI placed an order for a slam ball, some dumbbells, and some kettlebells in October 2020. They told me 4-12 weeks for delivery. Several months later, my order was partially filled, but not the back ordered slam ball.I contacted them several times over the summer of 2021, and each time they said the slam balls hadn’t come in yet. By August, after 10 months of waiting, I emailed them asking for a refund ($40). No response. After a week, I wrote again. No response. Based on others’ reviews, I can only assume they’ve kept my money and have no intention of filling my order nor of refunding. Thieves.
Beware of online orders. If you read the reviews youll find in store purchase works but online is a SCAM. There are several sites used as click bait, varying in pricing for the same product. Customer service is run by Alexis who claims to be the owner. Save yourself the drama of working with thieves who hide behind the internet to tax you with hidden fees. I confirmed in writing prior to purchasing details around delivery - after earning my credit card Alexis wanted to charge me 2 delivery fees for ordering from their 2 sites. *This is after getting in writing from another employee it would not be an issue. I would pay more to work with a company that has integrity. Lifes too short to give your money too crooks.
As others have said, surprised on the negative reviews. I think mainly people are complaining about the lead time to get orders during the pandemic but it is what it is. They got the best prices in town and the workers are all real nice and helpful. Just be glad to have these resources so close to you, otherwise you can go ahead and find what you need elsewhere but for 2x the price. Def reccomend if you are patient
Horrible Horrible Horrible! Ordered in March 2020, never got items. Canceled order in July 2020 received store credit because they dont refund. Ordered again March 2021 IN STOCK items, never heard from them to pick-up items. Sent several emails, was told 3 weeks. Never heard anything called many times, no answer, many emails, Ig inquiries finally received message 4-5 weeks more. We are now week 5, starting cycle again. No response! Dont waste time with them. American Barbell is the way to go!
Im reading some of the negative reviews and Im really surprised. Over the past 6 months Ive placed about 5 separate orders to include a squat rack, bench, over 500 lbs in plates, a dip bar attachment, a heavy bag attachment, Olympic bar, and two pulley systems. Ive had ZERO issues receiving my equipment in a timely manner and no problems with communication (answered emails, answered calls). In fact, the basic squat rack that I ordered was going to take 3 months to deliver so they upgraded me to the pro model (including bench and bar) for free. That was about a $900 upgrade. Sunny has always been super helpful every time Ive been in there.
I read all the bad comments before I made my order & I was worried about helping me loading the items I ordered (8 rubber mats lbs100 each, a rack….. etc) I was prepared & have my gloves on. Then Eric (I am not sure about his name) who helped me with my order loaded all items into my truck (even when I offered to help him but he did all the job) I would give him 10 stars.The lady inside the showroom she was very polite & happy to help & answered all my questions.
Probably just going to cancel this order through PayPal. Should’ve read the reviews first. My item was supposed to be in stock. No correspondence. Hopefully this helps others. It wouldn’t helped me. Going to check their BBB now.

Sunny and the San Diego team are very knowledgeable and are now like family to us.The mister and I drive down from Riverside County although they have a Los Angeles location since our first purchase was at the San Diego storeWe ordered a customized Assisted Chin Dip Machine Plate Loaded for our home garage gym and came back for olympic curl bars, tricep bars, bumper plates, Pulley Attachment - Plate Loaded, a bench, and if we had a larger garage we would have purchased a Smith Machine Functional Trainer to replace our current Marcy Smith Machine.You get what you pay for and good things come to those who wait. It did take longer than expected for our Chin Dip machine but Sunny and the San Diego team were transparent in communication and very accommodating.Now, to find the time to actually make use of the equipment. Happy shopping fit fam.
When I came into the store they were very welcoming. They have a good system down where they have a sheet of all the prices and equipment out to test. Once you purchase the equipment, you have to walk down to the warehouse side and they will load your car for you. You also get 5% off if you write a review! I think the people online are the ones that are not having a good experience, but if you go in person they are great!
Spent $1088 here today, very happy. Best prices around, outstanding availability, great selection, delivery options, and the people working the floor were not sales people. I came in, pointed at what I wanted, and that was that.

Weve been using the Fitness Armory for some of our heavier equipment needs for 8 years now. Their prices are very competitive, and pick up at their warehouse has always been easy. I was pretty dismayed to read all the negative reviews over the past year, and I almost went somewhere else for our last purchase (3 sets of 5-50# DB pairs). But I stuck with them, and Im glad I did. Sierra responded to my inquiry within 24 hours (as advertised), the equipment was in stock (as promised), and I picked it up within four business days. Its already at my gym being used.COVID hosed up a bunch of supply chains; rapid demand shifts, availability of raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, distribution - not every industry was hit hard, but the fitness industry was definitely turned on its side. I get the frustration of not getting what you ordered as soon as you want it, but blaming the retail side (i.e., the Fitness Armory) for the supply chain issues is shortsighted. What you can blame them for is the apparent lack of communication. As a business, you absolutely have to communicate with your customers, even if its only to say, We dont know whats going on, but were trying. I think, based on my (and others) recent experience, that theyve worked to address the communication issues. And hopefully they keep doing so going forward.

I ordered my gym equipment back in April 2020. I finally received and picked-up my last equipment 01-05-2021. Was told 4-12 weeks and they never followed up on order status. I always had to ask every month to see where my status was.This company did not seem to care about previous orders and is very unorganized. I will never make any purchases from this store again.

I ordered a mat from them - went to pick it up. Guy working the warehouse wasnt just rude but wasnt allowed to help customers load their purchases, which isnt listed anywhere on their website... Ive had 3 knee surgeries and I have a bad back - I have a handicapped placard - and I had to lift a mat into the back of a pickup truck by myself. A mat that weighed probably around 70lbs. I feel a lawsuit coming on should my back or knee be negatively impacted by this....
CAUTION BEWARE: Ordered dumbbells July 2020 and still have not received them, while they advertise dumbbells available for sale on their website. Dont order anything from this company, they will ignore you and will not allow any cancellations. They will keep your money without ever delivering on your order, they are crooks.
I understand that covid has slowed down shipping/orders, etc. My problem is the lack of communication and false promises. I order bumper plates in July 2020 and was told 16 weeks (I have emails). At 17 weeks I emailed them and got no response. I contacted them online through their website and week 20. Still no response. 1. Dont promise 16 weeks if you can not deliver on that promise. If there is a huge delay then notify those who placed an order or was given a specific time frame. I have yet to receive my order. I have no idea when I will. Fingers crossed it comes before its a year long wait.

Worst company ever. I have been waiting FIVE MONTHS for a shipment of kettlebells. I emailed 2 months ago and was told that they were in between waves of shipments but that I could expect my order in 2-3 weeks. Im experiencing the same as others and have not received my order. I ordered in the summer. The thing is that I reached out to them via email and I havent even received a reply. I want to file a dispute with my credit card but now its out of the time frame to dispute. I wish they would do a better job of communicating and getting everyones orders in. Or, at least tell the truth and be a better business than they are acting like. Will look into filing with the BBB to see if they can assist.

UpdateImmediately after writing this review, I received a phone call stating my order was ready for pick up. Im not sure if it was a coincidence or if it was related. The equipment has so far been excellent quality as expected. I changed my rating, however I will not be using their service again, unfortunately....This place is joke, keep on looking. Very disappointed in lack of communication and customer service. I ordered some equipment 21 weeks ago without any follow up from them. Ive reached out multiple times with no response. Being transparent and communicative goes a long way when doing business and providing excellent customer service.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Expected a long lead time (4-12 weeks) and of course was expecting more towards the 12 weeks due to the pandemic and which I was okay with waiting. Now, currently 4 months and they have done nothing to communicate back to me with my order other than offering me a different product, and saying We are waiting on the 45s and 10s which was quite obvious from the fact that I havent received them yet. No offer to reimburse or refund me for my 700 dollars I spent four months ago. Quality of the plates that I did receive (pair of 25s and 5s) are mid quality, with drippy coating over them. Spend your money else where.
I wish I had the benefit of these reviews before I first ordered June 8th. I have never written a review online before but I am so disappointed in the Fitness Armory’s service I wanted to be sure to warn future customers. It has been 5 months and no apology or information as to when I will get my order filled. Since it was a birthday gift for my son it is especially disappointing. Buyers beware!!!

Best place to get weights during this pandemic. People need to read their disclaimer before purchasing, “no refunds.” So it’s your own fault if you don’t see that.Some items came in 3 weeks after the order and some came in 8 weeks after. They’ve always been good with their communication.

At around 12 weeks I received an email saying if you havent received your order after 12 weeks, youd be eligible for a refund. At 16 weeks, I finally asked for a refund, which was denied. Immediately after, half my equipment was sent. I had to file a dispute for the rest of my order.

I am echoing the same experience others have had with this business. It has been months since I first placed an order here - much longer than they had originally estimated. It is also funny that they are promoting Black Friday deals on their Instagram page with comments turned off, of course, otherwise new customers would be turned off by all the comments asking where their orders are.
Let me start by saying that at first when I placed my order, I was skeptical because of the reviews that I had previously read. That being said, I decided to proceed with my order and reach out to the company. I essentially texted the provided number but had more luck through their Instagram page - I wasnt expecting a quick response. However, Sierra reached out to me and helped me figure out how far ahead my order was. She was always there to answer any questions that I had - and there were a lot but she never hesitated to answer them.Furthermore, with Zachs help, they were able to get my items shipped. All of my things arrived in a similar span of time, thanks to the wonderful customer service I received. This is a company that I will gladly do business with in the future. Thank you to all the employees - especially Sierra :)

This company is expanding and growing its business off the interest-free money of their customers. They had guaranteed a maximum 12 week delivery time and 4 weeks past their guaranteed time have yet to perform. After asking for a refund, they refuse to answer my emails or messages; I have been left on read multiple times. They are seeing them and choosing to ignore a paying customer.Spend your money somewhere else. This company is not geared towards customer service, just opportunists who use a global pandemic to expand their business.
Doing business here was a disappointment. I ordered a set of cast iron weights back in April when they were promising a 4-12 week fulfillment. During that time I managed to get a higher quality weight set (w/ Olympic Bar) from Play it Again Sports La Mesa. So a business that got burned and looted in May was able to provide me with what I needed versus Fitness Armory who bit off way more than they could chew with orders. On the plus side, they do offer a 14+ week refund and they did honor my request for a refund without any further issues. Maybe give this business a try in a year or so but right now they put themselves in a bad spot.
We ordered some bumper plates in June 2020 and a 12 week window was given to us. We are in February 2021 and we haven’t received the plates yet. On top of that the communication is really bad, worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. After we tried to cancel the order they said they don’t do refunds and would give a credit to use in store... well the problem is it would take another year to use the credit since you guys can’t keep your word in delivery time.

The absolute worst customer service and purchasing experience ever. I ordered initially on may 7th for weights and to my surprise the order went through and promised me a response from 4-12 weeks. Well that quickly turned into 17 weeks with NO UPDATE WHATSOEVER what had happened to my order. They are not taking phone calls and are not responding to emails, and best yet, NO REFUNDS. So even at the 16 week point when I could have gotten these items elsewhere for much quicker, they had locked me in, only offering store credit to the one place I will never be shopping again. I had to go to the warehouse myself and demand substitutions to just barley get my order today, nearly 17weeks to the date.Please do yourself a favor and dont buy from here.

Ordered equipment in early May with a promise of 8-12 weeks for delivery. Were now at 20 weeks with no update on when I can expect the items. Poor customer service, one line responses when questioning the status or requesting a refund. Store credit available, probably only to wait another 5 months on a new order, no thanks. Completely understand the impacts of COVID but advertising half the amount of time for an order to arrive is misleading. COVID doesnt impact proper communication and updating expectations proactively vice having to inquire once a month on an update.

Despite all the current challenges imposed by the pandemic and resultant shut down, Fitness Armory has helped people like myself build their own home gym setups. I, like many others, placed my order back in March and although there were order fullfillment challenges, Sunny and her team have stepped up with as much help to respond to the tons of inquiries they receive.. Getting my orders from FA has allowed me to build a home gym that myself, my wife, and a few select friends can truly enjoy. Thank you!

This would be a five star company review if they had the ability to fulfill orders within estimated times. They are struggling to keep up with the demand and not able to receive what they need fast enough to keep up. It can be difficult to get ahold of them but they understandably have been preoccupied with order fulfillment. As frustrating as it is to have to wait so long they will ship your order when they can and they do provide a great quality product. I placed my order the first week of June and received 5 months later. Be patient and continue to try to communicate and they will try to get you taken care of as soon as they can. I will continue to purchase from here but might wait until Covid slows down so they are able to work at full capacity.

See most of the people saying they have bad customer reviews and a long wait time. I have had no experience in this, I emailed them about my order and they emailed back within one day which is pretty standard for businesses. I would say the only complaint I have is the building to pick up my equipment was hard to find, but its not their fault. People who complain about long wait time and just kinda not taking things into perspective. My order was about 3 months later than they said it would be. But come on where are you going to buy ok quality bumper plates and ok quality cast iron plates for pre-pandemic prices? Even if you look on Facebook or craigslist you will never find the prices that this place has. Yeah they do have long wait times, but come on they are giving you a deal ... If you want to wait then wait and itll pay off. When I was picking up my equipment they were pretty friendly so I have no clue what some of these other people are saying and in email form they are friendly as well so I feel like some of these people are just straight up lying. This is a great deal especially for the current pandemic. Would recommend if you are willing to wait. But hey there is always Rogue.

DANGEROUS Company to buy from. We ordered BEFORE they updated their policy that there are no refunds or chargebacks after COVID. We had dates set for August, September, October. All missed. We know of other clients getting weights ordered after our order. They dont answer the phones, do not return emails / texts and do not keep their promises. They will take your money, and not deliver any product.We didnt order a custom product. We ordered off-the-shelf weights. If you have such a huge backlog, then refund my order, and give my weights to the next guy in line. But you cannot sell items over the phone by Credit Card, and simply not deliver the items for over 4 months, or choose not to respond.We even asked for exchange to other product to be considerate to their situation. NO! No exchange. No delivery. They simply take the money, and do not deliver. The only thing we have to show for hundreds of dollars invested is a receipt.This company cannot manage inventory, manage customer expectations, or keep its promises. There are dozens of other vendors delivering weights and workout equipment right now - find anyone else and purchase from them.After repeatedly being told Your order is slotted for the week of and not delivering, we asked for a refund. When they did not deliver - for the FOURTH TIME MONTHS LATER we asked again. No reply. No returned phone call. No email or text response. NOTHING. So we did what we had to do - we requested a chargeback. They have disputed it (Which cannot survive - we didnt get any product for the payment made.)My advice to ANYONE with outstanding orders over 12 weeks with no communication - CHARGE BACK IMMEDIATELY! I suspect they are insolvent, have spent all the collected funds, and cannot deliver product because they dont have the money or the inventory.COVID-19 Sucks. Were not unreasonable people. The timelines listed on the website were extremely misleading when I purchased back in June (8-12 weeks), and I would imagine that are still not even close to accurate now. They lock you in with misleading promises of reasonable turnaround times and then offer store credit when theyre unable to meet them. I wanted to help out a local business during the pandemic and now Im regretting it. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. Spend the extra money and order from Rogue or Titan Fitness. Every order Ive placed with them since June has been filled and arrived within 4 weeks.

I still havent received my full order. I barely got a few bumper plates last week. The customer service is horrible, they never reply to emails. They also do not give you any type of update on your order. Understandably so its because of covid but do not sell items in bulk if you dont even have the inventory and stop giving false shipment times.

This is company is by far the most useless company. It took 6 months instead of the normal 12 weeks and they didnt even have the full order. The los angeles location had me running between two distribution centers with an incorrect address. The warehouse personnell were incredibly rude. Never do business with these folk unless you want to let them borrow your money for 6 months
I have bought a lot of my garage gym equipment at The Fitness Armory. I just picked up stall mats which I have been wanting to install for a long time. Everyone that works there has been great. They loaded the mats in my truck for me and emailed quotes for some other equipment Im interested in purchasing in the future. They also offer a discount for law enforcement, military, and veterans. If youve ordered equipment from companies like Rogue you know the shipping cost can be prohibitive. Even if they offer free shipping the shipping cost is factored into the price. If you live anywhere near San Diego you can walk out of The Fitness Armory with top of the line equipment and avoid hundreds in shipping! You can also see and try out the equipment so you know exactly what you are buying. They have sales a couple times a year and they can be well worth the wait.
Went in there earlier and got an amazing deal on bumper plates and some gym mats to make a great home gym. Fantastic prices and the owner was super friendly. Everything is laid out well. You go in and everything is laid out in a clear and sensible fashion. No frills, just quality gym equipment at a damn good price. I plan on going back to continue to build out my garage gym.
One of the worst customer service experiences I can remember. They over extended themselves so they could not fulfill their promise. What made the experience so bad was there was no timely communication from them, and attempts to reach out were met with auto replies and the occasional person who really did not care. Instead of solving the problem they created more with false promises. Stay clear!!! Caveat emptor!
DO NOT BUY FROM THEMI placed an order and it took 16 weeks for these weights to come in. Not only did it take that long but also the weights came in chipped, and mis matching ( multiple different brands of steel plates). Not only that, but some weights didn’t even hug the sleeve of a barbell properly. Customer service is horrible, and the only compensation they offer is a refund, after already wasting months of my time. Would never even breath in the direction of this store again. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy from them. Unless you’re willing to wait a year for your equipment.
Dont trust The Fitness Armory. Completed my order on May 4th 2020. Initially, they gave me 12 weeks...it has been now over 30 weeks and NO EQUIPMENT!!! On top of that, they get mad at you when you contact them. They act on bad faith!!! Reporting them to BBB as well.
Placed order in October 2020 and never received my items. Customer service stop responding to emails. Got my money back through my credit card company. Will take my business elsewhere. Very poor experience.
Ordered $1200 worth of equipment in July. It’s now Dec and I have not gotten a reply back or any notification from them. I contacted my credit card for a full refund since it’s fraud. Not sure why they’re taking orders if they cannot fulfill them. Isn’t that exactly what a con artist does?Embarrassing to throw your company’s name and reputation away like that.
These people are shady even before this covid. They advertise military discount but when you go to pay they claim the item is already on sale and they cant combine discounts. I have bought better weights from Walmart and Amazon. Due yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
Placed an order for dumbbells 10 weeks ago... here we are. I got a text that I would be bumped up 2 weeks... So here is the thing.... DO NOT put 4-12 weeks on your website, call it what it is 12 weeks. Also write “everything is on sale so we’re not planning on honoring our military discount ever”. I see why you only give store credit otherwise you would go out of business.

These guys lie about how long stuff takes to get here. I placed an order over 12 weeks ago, and its not here. They said 4-12 weeks. Still no sign of it. The ordering process was super misleading as well - didnt realize the 4-12 week wait until it was too late and theres no option to cancel an order or get your money back. Worst place ever.
Save yourself and don’t buy from this place. The order has taken almost over 3 months and it’s still not all here. They’re not even taking phone calls or anything so you have to physically go there. And when you do all the workers are just sitting around doing nothing. I asked one guy about my order and he told me they might have it in the back but it’s gonna take all day to find?? Like isn’t that your job? I mean when they ask for the payments we don’t go oh it’s gonna take a whole day for me to find the payment? Get it together guys
Terrible. I literally ordered $800 worth of equipment 21 weeks ago and realize this is going to have to small claims court. These people are criminals. They lie about how long your stuff will take and no refunds. Thats the definition of stealing which Im pretty sure is a crime. NEVER DO BUSINESSES HERE AGAIN. THEY DONT A SWER PHONES EITHER
Im disappointed. They over promise and under deliver. In early April, I ordered about $1,100 in equipment. Its mid July and Ive received 3 of 12 items (ordered pairs of DBs, bumper plates, KBs, etc). I know what youre thinking, Well duh! Rona! ... because same!I get they were inundated with orders like most fitness equipment companies. But, I wanted to shop local during these times. I followed instructions on the emails, which was to wait 4-12 weeks. They updated everyone via email about the shipping and that it will be a long wait. Not a problem. Im a reasonable person. I never called to harass them. I never emailed to harass them. Didnt show up in person. I simply waited. Because the world is apparently falling apart and I can only imagine the demanding messages they are getting.Well, this is week 14. I picked up 3 items that were finally ready. They could not fulfill one item so it got cancelled. Rather than them reading sassy words on a screen, I thought asking in person would be the most appropriate to inquire about my remaining order. I was told, Honestly, whatever is in the email. Wow.Well, the emails say you have these constant equipment sales or specials. And!! That youre still taking orders despite being so behind. Or it says to keep on waiting and contact you all if its been x number of weeks. Meanwhile, many of us are patiently waiting. I will say the employee was by no means rude. Just matter of fact. Im sure thats the only question theyre getting from us 1st World people and our 1st World problems. But, I decided I wasnt going to say/ask anything else because ... clearly no one gives AF about my order or anyone elses. They got their money from me and thats all that matters.As a side note: my buddy ordered from them shortly after I did. He doesnt receive any of the emails, so I end up forwarding the same thing they email out. Hes still waiting. (As of 10/27/2020: he still has yet to have his order even filled).Bottom line: This is just not a place Id recommend doing business with.Update: as of 10/22/2020, my entire order is finally filled.
Worst Dayym costumer service I have ever came across by in my life they don’t respond my equipment was so delayed 4 months to be exact I show up to the Dayym shop to pick my equipment up mind u I drove almost two hours and they are closed because of construction no communication DO NOT BUY FROM THEM THEY SUCK !!!!!!
They are friendly, super responsive to emails and perhaps most importantly gave me the products I ordered withing the time frame they gave me which is much longer than normal due to COVID
I ordered about $1,000 of equipment on In the beginning of June and after waiting for a response for nearly 2 months they just got back to me saying that they MIGHT be able to deliver some of my equipment mid to late September. Poor customer service and extremely delayed service.

BEWARE: Potential scam and fighting with my credit card company now.Theyll take your money up front with limited to no follow up.Lead time was to be 14 weeks max. Its now been 16 weeks since i placed a $1500 order. Received an email Sep 1 to refer to the website for order updates and orders in the 12000 were to have been completed by AUG to mid SEP.
