I was enormously surprised on the grounds that this basic food item shop had the option to give all that I required, particularly for some dairy, cheddar, cereal, and new items. This spot is without a doubt one of the most incredible in light of the fact that they have total items, yet the administrations are astonishing also. I will without a doubt give them the most ideal criticism! Many thanks!
Cheap produce. Older market so its not exactly fancy but you can get food from the taqueria or get hot food from the deli if you are hungry. Its a Mexican market so if youre shopping for Asian ingredients, youll probably not be too successful.
Great tasting hot food. Great location. Friendly staff
Never a dull moment at Cardenas market never has it failed me, always fresh and everything I need authentic as can be
Clean and well stocked. Employees are very helpful and professional.
Friendly and helpful staff, vegetable section always has good fresh veggies. Great neighborhood market.
I believe the quality of meats is good not the greatest but enough for me to buy here. Wife goes to Chavez. Thats great quality. But more pricy. For the rest I havnt found much of an issue. This is My go to store. My only issue with the store itself in the meat section. When it gets crowded since there is no line nor grab a #, they loose track of who arrived 1st and since this world is filled with so many honest people (joke) people just say their next. And they get cut. Aside from that. Long lines every now and then or product ran out. I still recommend this this 100%%%.
I love their carnitas. I even boughtthem on the days it vwasnr on a special deal price theyre great.
Great supermarket! I cant say anything more than that! Love it!
They are very good some things 😉yes!they are very kind
The experience was very clean and respectful l would Recommend it to everyone.MOONSTERO
Great selections for your culinary needs
Best meat, so fresh. And they have good deals on different things all the time. The cashiers though, forget about customer service and gossip amongst them and ignore their customers. Meat service is always great. But the deals are worth coming here.
Always find all my mexican ingredients....
No fresh tortillas. But everything was great
I like to come here to buy fruits, vegetables and meats, all ate good quality. Also I can find Mexican food ready to eat and Mexican bread. My only comment that is why Im only giving 4 stars, is that the workers must be educated on how to wear correctly the face mask during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially the ones that are in contact with food. Probably half of the employees are wearing the mask in the right way, but the other half are having the nose exposed. Other than that I recommend the place because of the quality of what they sell here.
I got in and out real quick. Just went in for oranges and a pineapple
This Review Goes out to Raul in the meat Department, This Helpful Man went above and beyond to help me out and Prepare me some fresh Chicken fajitas from Scratch.. Im Talking about cutting the Breast of chicken to cutting fresh Veggies this guy is the best.. Give him a Raise... Customer Service was at 5 stars thats why Ill be Back.. Thanks Raul
The sale prices hit you as soon as you get past the registers. Two thumbs up as far as Im concerned
Great prices and fresh produce but need to sanitize carts
This is a great place to shop. A modest, well maintained supermarket thats run by a friendly and helpful staff. They carry absolutely everything youd need from any average store, but also many imported items you wont find anywhere else. Incredibly, all of them are offered at very reasonable prices.Im thankful to have Cardenas Market in my neighborhood.
Very good store.
Got kicked out for wearing my backpack while shopping, for the first time in my life
I love going here the food is great and the store is well stocked and clean.
I do like their corn tortilla chips. I get them here only!
Clean and well organized. Fantastic variety of produce and with excellent value. They also have a meat counter so you can ask for service.
Great rotisserie chicken..produce is very clean and varied...in store bakery...delicious prepared Mexican food...
They have a large variety of local produce, mostly vegetables. Some of their items are overpriced. The meat counter is overpriced, but the Taqueria is reasonably priced. Individual items vary in price.
Used to be a decent little market, but they have gone down hill over the past year. The store looks and feels dirty, it smells like a petting zoo, and the employees do NOT seemed concerned about Covid protocols what so ever. Standing in line at the grill, I had the same worker brush past me four times with no apologies or regards to safety. I have also seen expired milk for sale on more than one occasion.
This food is discussing the meat is all stinky and gross I threw up 10 time because of that meat you discuss me
The attendants are so polite and welcoming. They have everything one may need including furniture. It was a honor shopping with them
I asked for Mexican rice. They gave me beans instead. Rude not very professional.
Always clean, staff helpful and friendly, very easy to come and go...and very good prices...
I usually go to the Cardenas on Story Rd. This was my first time at this location. Store could use some remodeling but Customer Service was excellent--very friendly and helpful. Bought some marinated chicken and it had a LOT of marinate! They also had plenty of the fruit and veggies advertised for their weekend 3-day sale and they were in good shape. Was happy with my purchases!
Its avery good local market.
Best spot to get latin American food and ingredients, greatest prices as well
Great prices fresh hot food large variety of meats to be cooked very clean
Western union customer service is outstanding, friendly and very professional.
This is a good place to buy at your own risk. Somedays they are well picked up and by Sunday night its a very messy and dirty place at the vegatable and fruit place. The only day I saw this place clean was on 12/11/2019, the day before Virgin Guadalupe celebration. It was like a picture, very clean and in order. The other thing, they change the prices every week. Bottom line, the cleanliness is a big warning for this store to cause sickness, like China. Sometimes the smell is very bad. The customer service is very good, people are friendly. Prices went up after Cardenas took over about 40%. This place needs to have food inspectors look in to.
There was a good sale on canned beans, I had not tried this brand before. They were terrible. I had 9 cans left. I came back 5 days later to return them. They refused. Their policy is 3 days. After that no refunds. These are CANNED BEANS. The policy is stupid. I will NEVER shop here again.
Visited about four, it was not full. The place has a good feel to it. Feels similar to a restaurant in New York I loved.
This Cardenas is not rude to whites. I’m not sure what some of these reviewers are doing to rub the employees or patrons the wrong way but every time I’ve been here everyone has been friendly. Smile and be polite and you will get that in return. Not hard to comprehend...Hysteria aside, this grocery store has a plethora of marinated meats including AWESOME Al Pastor.
Horrible customer service! Grabbed groceries, went to pay. Clerk didnt say hi, didnt say anything for that matter, hhe clerk didnt even ask if we wanted a bag. My girlfriend went to grab the bag after we payed for it, and the clerk snatched the bag from her hands as she was trying to open it. Returned later in the day to buy quarters - same clerk, rude as ever - completely ignored me when I asked her to buy quarters. Ill never shop @ any of this stores locations ever again..
Employees have no maners, management personnel have no clue how to treat customers.
I stopped here for a super burrito and drink. And they did good, food was flavorful, and the price was alright.Super burrito came out to 8.99 and then a largeFresco all together about 14$.Spanish flare from everywhere in this building all the way to the customers. If I was in the area again I would stop by.
Horrible selection! Just went in for wine & frozen entree and could only find KIDS entrees & just an end-cap of COLD wine & champagne and nothing more!! (Lots of beer). Half the freezer section was mostly just filled with burritos & taquitos, but VERY empty & low on ice cream & other types of USUAL frozen foods in regular grocery stores (like Safeway, Luckys, etc.) A WASTE OF TIME!!
Mi Pueblo is a great chain... however this location never seems to impress me. It doesnt see/smell as clean as the others but for the most part has the same foods. Id rather spend few more minutes and go to another nearby location.
Im a bit confused that several reviews are saying its the same ownership as Mi Pueblo, if thats the case, MiPueblo should make some changes because the Cardenas I went into only because I happen to be passing by, had wonderful staff, very nice, the place was very clean and everything looked delicious and the prices seemed on point. I only got a drink from the tubs at the food counter, got cucumber, which was very refreshing, would get again and others which I tasted. Will go back here over Mi Pueblo any day, nicer and cleaner!
Good place to find mexican foods that you cant find at other markets. Things like pan dulce, mexican mayo, fideo. I wish they had organic/non gmo produce.
I love the lovely friendly señoritas!
Popped in since its our walk-to market in our new home; an excellent butcher, which is apparently where they started out, along with a dedication to serving the Latino community; expect Spanish to be the most common language here, without losing anything of communication in English. Theres a little eatery in the front, local seasonal produce, and all that a good little local grocery should have, and : they have the. best. bacon. Plus I really like the music!Edited to drop two stars: low on stock on basic dairy (no butter?!), no bacon, and aisles crammed so no one can get a shopping cart much less a stroller through. If you use a wheelchair, good luck. If you block it off, no one can shop! Don’t make my tiny old neighbors drag around two hand baskets because your aisles are impassable. The excellent butcher’s counter remains. Surprised to be slammed with first ethnic rudeness encountered in six years here, at checkout.
There meat selections are great!!!!fresh
Seems that Mi Pueblo has changed Owners or partnered with some other company. Since the change the quality of the produce has decreased. At the last visit the bananas were way too ripe and there are fruit flies everywhere. I used to shop here specifically due to the high quality of their produce and fair prices but this experience has motivated me to do my shopping elsewhere even if it costs more. I want quality. I also brought this up with someone working there and she agreed! She says that there should be a special cleaner being used in the water catcher things in/around the produce area and was unsure if they where being cleaned properly, hence the fruit fly! Being that No Pueblo is so close, and Ive been shopping here for so long, I am willing to make another stop. If this continues I will have today GOODBYE for sure!
Friendly staff and great price for papaya and watermelon. But I can’t find the whole wheat flower, kales, organic potatoes and stuff here..
The store smells like cleaning Clorox at 11am in the morning. There are flies around the meat/fish section. Most of the items are in Spanish @@ (maybe english translated at the pastry area can help me)... On the plus side, there is a plenty parking lot& staff is very helpful & friendly). However, Im not sure if I ever want to come back again.
The ribs were good
The service really bag I never go back
Completely down hill since they took over from Mi Pueblo. The meat and produce quality isnt nearly as good. The store is also dirty with unstocked items. The staff is friendly though.
Very very RUDE to their customers that are white. AND they will NOT hire whites. PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE ...none of us should be treated differently. We are all from the HUMAN race!!!I have been here many different times over the past 10yrs. Because its very close to where i live...And get the same treatment everytime! Its a shame.Shame on all who are prejudice
I like that its never super packed, great access.
Thia place discriminates against poor people. If you have the audacity not to have a car and therefore carry a backpack responsibly they require you now to hand over your personal property to them just so you can shop. Its rude its discrimination and it should be illegal.
Friendly service with Friendly people, excellent place a
Western Union is never open. Ive been there five times and always closed during the middle of the day. The meat department is great the taqueria not so good.
Amazing service, quality, and best prices. Very friendly and professional staff.
Well stocked Mexican supermarket. I used to eat at the Deli counter and it was excellent but I dont work nearby anymore so Im not sure how it is now.
Not enough cash check out stands open. They should get rid of 4 or 5 registers and put the rest at an angle to give shoppers more room passing.
Workers are typically friendly and efficient. They have a great selection of FRESH beef, chicken and seafood. Yummy
Got some milk and eggs. This guy smelled like weed and these sweet ladies thought it was me. The cash register is cute though. I wish I spoke Spanish.
Great store to buy Mexican food. Also theres a Taqueria in the store. Tasty menu too.
Pro:Friendly staff! Some nice products from Mexico.Cons:The smell is terrible its like the products are getting bad and nobody change them. Is quit dirty there.
Expensive and quality
They leave out crates overnight outside their store. Homeless people pee on them. Later, they unload the food on those same crates. They don’t clean the outside parking lot and are not good to the neighborhood. The entrance walkway is falling apart and they have weeds growing all around right now. If they can’t take care of these basic things, how much do you think they clean inside?
The hot food section is excellent. The prices can not be beat. Great staff.
Great service and prices. Wait time in lines is bordering on tiresome at times. I would recommend this particular MI Pueblo for their fresh foods especially.
I love the deli very neat and clean and so many varieties!! Very kind atmosphere.
The fish here is absolutely disgusting. You can smell it going bad when you are near the counter. I only buy canned or boxed items here and dont even bother with the restaurant inside. Worst Mexican food Ive ever had - they cant even get the beans or rice to taste decent.Btw.. The 5-star rating below is probably staff because it addresses everything that the 1-star rating before it mentioned. Also, its completely false. The staff is NOT friendly, the food is NOT fresh, prices are way too high, and the overall experience sucks.
Love the Variety of veggies and meats plus the Variety of Hispanic grocery food items (both fresh & prepackaged) plus a little Taqueria in store.Downside is that the fresh meat area sometimes does not smell so good (almost like bad meat --- a Concern).
I noticed no difference now that its no longer Mi Pueblo. Prices on meat and produce is really good. Things in the middle isles are more expensive than Safeway or Walmart. Its small, not big and posh and the lines arent that long. Last week had a full cart and spent about $100! Bargain!!!
Always dirty....... Long lines ....... Horrible service
Convenient neighborhood groceries. Good Mexican oriented selections. Meat and produce are average. Prices are good.
Oh my goodness. What a disappointment. The produce section was the only reason we went into the market and by far it was the dirtiest section of the entire store. Just filthy, junk all on the ground, fruits and vegetables were just thrown everywhere. It was truly a mess. We just left but if we would have wanted to ask a question there wasnt anyone there working to ask anyway. Ive been living here in San Jose for over 30 years and Ive been coming to this store for quite a few years and this store previously has never looked or felt like this before. I realize that the new owners havent had the store for that long but regardless clean and organized should be top priority in any business that deals with food.
Funny enough the crazy slowness of the restaurant is inversely proportional to the flash-like quickness of the butcher. Also, all the male employees are as chipper as the female ones seem miserable. Very Kafkaesque. Either way the place smells like death sometimes so 1 star off.
I visited this store on Sunday the 23rd of June. I went to this market to buy shrimp and vegetables to make a dish for a party. While in the meat department the butcher(older female) was cutting up chicken prior to helping my wife and I. I told the butcher i needed three pounds of shrimp.I wasnt really paying attention because i was looking at our shoping list but my wife noticed that she didnt change gloves after cutting raw chicken. The butcher just started to scoop the shrimp in the bag. My wife asked her if she was going to change her gloves because what she had done was unsanitary. The butcher laughed with a sarcastic laugh and dumped all the shrimp back into the tray from which it just came(and contaminating the rest of the shrimp) and grabbed plastic gloves to go over her latex gloves and tried to grab the shrimp again. We refused the service and I immediately told the supervisor. It was Sunday so i decided to call again the next day and complain. I have yet to be answered. If you ordered raw shrimp from this store after 2pm you may have gotten seliminela.
Great $ 5 deal every day .more bang for the buck.
Fairly small market, but well maintained. This chain is somewhat more expensive than other Mexican groceries.
One of few ethnic Hispanic supermarket chains in Northern California with multiple locations offering free local shuttle bus for neighborhood shoppers.
Good staff but always go in the lines of the most experienced cashiers
Worst place to drop load
Everybody is helpful I have to do is ask its English in Spanish the atmosphere is great I love to shop here beautiful people
Its a Spanish super market with good options for Indians. Has lots of varieties of vegetables, fruits and meat. My wife says its cheaper than Safeway and has better quality than Grocery Market.
Sporadic, but usually old vegetables, mediocre shelves stocking and long wait lines as they choose not to open more lanes.Always flies and nats in pan cabinet. Meat department decent, at least first impression. I live in neighborhood, so unfortunately no other options other than driving 5 miles to nearest Safeway, so Im forced to use. If I had an option, would not shop here. Definite step down from former Mi Pueblo, although they werent great either.
Awesome Meat Department, they have a bakery as well as a restaurant.
Great place for latin products but also general products found in other markets. Produces have very good prices compared to other markets like safeway. They also have a bakery with variety of sweet bread. But in addition they have a cafeteria-like food service---lots of options for meats, tacos, etc and drinks such as agua frescas.
Clean inside. The taco place inside is good. No public bathroom though. I think you should have a bathroom if you have a restaurant.
In Our Cardenas store, Mexican-style-mini-supermaket, in San Jose, CA, the produce department, professionaly managed by Lindsay and Ivan, carries only the freshest fruits🍊 and vegetables🥕 in the bay area - come and see for yourself!!!! And, with, absolutely, the lowest overral store prices and the friendliest assistance you can ever find anywhere, will make your shopping the most exciting experience 🤩 I, myself, enjoy it almost every day!!! Actually, couldnt live without it anymore!!!. Peace🌎Muchos gracias Mi Cardenas🍒
This place is so gross, I was ordering chicken salad which is sold where you can also buy cheese and I think the cooler was down or something and there was this water condensation idk what the hell it was dripping into the chicken and made a little pool in it. I was so disgusted I said something and she said it was just water. UMMM first of all so what thats unsanitary 2nd that water is dripping from this plastic hose thing thats used to keep the food cold and it looks moldy! The meat area is so disgusting the the floor is dirty it smells bad and the meat looks like its been sitting there for ages. The floors are dirty as well and theres boxes near the produce area filled with produce when it should be put in is designated area. The place is run by Incompetent people.
