I had potatoes and pancakes with sausage and scrambled eggs and a cup of coffee. My mom tried an egg white fluffy omlette. We came back here because we liked it the last time we went. I recommend as a good place to eat.
The Cup and Saucer is a special place. The owner is an amazing person who takes care of his Patrons. We have eaten here for many many years and love the food. It is a dinner so expect dinner type food but it is fantastic. I am especially fond of his breakfasts. My favorite is the Bacon Omlett with Hash browns. When we go for lunch or dinner my go to is usually his bacon cheese burger. For my wife she enjoys the Cobb Salad. Tonight was great he introduces us to his new desert menu which reminded me of the Ferrells Ice Cream Parlor. I had the Banana Split and it was incredible. I highly recommend eating here!
I really love this little place so much. Ive been going here for years and havent had a bad experience yet. I really like sitting outside these days.
After a looong day of plinking my Buddy and I needed a bite to eat, he suggested The Cup And Saucer. When we arrived I noted that they had booths outside of their building in a covered area. I actually thought the area was part of the restaurant. It was just like indoor seating but better “imo”I ordered the hamburger “med rare” on rye. Comes with toasted home made rye, “that’s right folks, they make their own bread here” Swiss cheese and grilled onions, I added grilled mushrooms. With the sammi you get your choice of Onion rings, French fry’s, or potato salad. I opted for the onion rings.“Onion rings” whole not processed, cooked crispy and there was like no oil on them at all, amazing.“Rye burger” cooked med rare just like I ordered it. Juicy would be an understatement, oh my gosh the RYE bread was soo freakin good..... then the grilled onions and mushrooms with the Swiss cheese........ SHAAAAAA-WINGGG!!Oh and the portions are big, I could only eat 1/2 my sammi “keep in mind I hadn’t eaten all day” look at how many onion rings are on my plate!!! Who does that? These guys do, that’s who. :D“Service” very good, the waiter actually refilled my water 4 times!! Now that’s just good old fashion service if you ask me. “And most importantly they gave me exactly what I asked for”
Love The Cup ! The food is always good and plentiful. Comfort food at its finest. There are wonderful specials every day. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you cant find something you like here, well, youre just not hungry! And right now, theres dining both inside and outside, with heaters.
Never knew this place was here after living in the area over 20 years. The food is delicious!
Ive been going here for 20+ years and its always a good experience. Their breakfast portions are large and I usually skip lunch after eating here. I love the homemade carrot bread and I hear the coffee cake is amazing too
We just moved to the area. So far the best breakfast Ive had in San Jose (even though it was for dinner). Wife had flank steak. Very tasty. I had diced linguica and eggs. Corn bread just the way I like it. Fresh bottle of Pepper Plant and waitress Tracy earned their fifth star. Definitely will be back.Since this review, I would imagine we’ve been here at least every other week. I know one weekend when my sister and brother in law was in town, we went for 3 separate meals in 4 days.Tonight I was hankering meatloaf. The wife had the flank steak. pictured are the “mini orders”!
Huge portions, quick service and friendly patrons.
Very good diner type food. Creative specials. Good servive
Friendly staff great food great ambience I love the friendly people its a nice little corner of a breakfast place to go unwind and feel stressed free I would definitely return for more thank you
Good food, nice serving sizes, friendly and helpful staff! Outdoor covered dining with portable infrared propane heaters.
During the most recent relaxing of SIP orders, they have it right. All servers are in masks but you can still hear their smiles even if you cant see them. Breakfast was wonderful as usual. I had the Benedict special and my MIL had their Apricot French toast. They are the only place I have ever seen that on the menu. Coffee was delicious!I felt they were being as careful about our health and safety as they are with their employees.I of course had to take extra breakfast home for my SO and daughter who just couldnt make the early morning 8:30a breakfast run. So it was flank steak and eggs for her and chicken fried steak for him.
Parking is easy .had the meat loaf like most places it is grilled had can gravy server seemed over worked order food and only seen bus boy after that very large portion maybe trying to get rid of it. Well just dropped in was app 2 pm wateress were no where to be found buss boy seated me and del drink 15 min latter ask some one to take my order. She seem put of sorts to take my order. When ask for a drink refill 10 min for it. Ask for bill was there quickly and picked up even faster. Service is getting worse !!! Update. Aug 2020 just had there flank steak lunch. It was great very flavorful. Service is still hit and miss. I know it is this thing going around.
Great food great staff owner is awesome
Its a great place to get take out. Its a great place to eat at when covid-19 is not happening.
Good food, alot of it. Very good service
Very good experience all around!
Amazing!! my family got the tea set for mother’s day and could not be happier
Eggs Benedict, Eggs were over cooked
Very nice place! Good good food! Thank you so much. Awesome service!
Nice outdoor set up great menu...staff is incredible...
Good food. Great serrvice. Give it a try.
Fantastic burgers, chili burger and much more. Great food, great service. I love the dinner salad with blue cheese dressing. The fries and onion rings are to die for. The owner Raul is very nice. They have a back room for family parties.
Enjoyed dinner here. They have covered outdoor dining with their regular menu and weekly specials. Great comfort food.
Wow! Nice cool eating area and soft seating. Great menu and options. The prices fair enuf!
A cute little restaurant that makes very good and inexpensive food. They serve outside and in a safe manner. Breakfast lunch and dinner.
Been going here for 40 years, never been disappointed! The service is top notch, the price is great for portion size, the taste is somewhere between 4 and 6 stars...I rarely give a 5 star across the board review.. This is an exception.
My happy place to go to great food and service
Good food and staff.
Went there on Friday and had the turkey apple sandwich with fries. Tasted good but an hour later I got violently sick (food poisoning) no fever... They had us outside in booths but a couple sat directly behind us (not six feet apart). I think they need to take the social distancing more seriously. They have touchless menus but didnt even tell us that was an option. They just handed us a regular menu. I also noticed their instructions for scanning the qr code for the menu were incorrect. They said to open your camera and take a picture, lol. Though most people who see a qr code and have the app would know how to use it. It was our first date out in 6 months... bummer that I got sick. :/
Food is good, small coffee shop type feel. Good service! I have ate dinner and breakfast there. Dinner was good had meatloaf. Breakfast very good, go early if going to breakfast it does get busy. Kind of reminds me of a place your grand parents would take you. Not a bad thing at all. I would go back anytime.
Just found out your on grub hub. Love your place, miss the food and the warm family feel. Will be ordering now that i know. I tried door dash but they didnt have you listed.😁
Great food and friendly employees
Great local restaurant with a diner vibe. Service is wonderful. Been there a number of times and they never miss a beat. Food is really good burgers, breakfast and American comfort food. Portions are generous and everything tastes great. My only quibble is they don t actually serve a saucer with a cup lol.
Fun, homey comfort food served by staff that remember your name, remember your drink and meal of choice. Cobb salad was amazing, Arnold Palmer refreshing and they served great baked banana bread with the meal. Theres an old fashioned family vibe here that works and works very well.
This is the place for real people to eat. I recommend the flank steak and eggs.
Had a great experience here! The first thing that stood out to me is how diverse their menu selection is! There’s no way you can’t find what you want unless you’re just a picky eater. There is plenty of seating and the servers are fast, efficient and friendly.I’d recommend The Cup & Saucer to everyone in the area!
Have always wanted to eat here as it’s been here like forever. Good food nice people, and a comfortable strip mall diner. I would definitely come back
Place has a large menu. Particularly like their flank steak sandwich and dinner plate. Very popular with the older set as there is a retirement community across the street. Do not expect cheap eats, rather moderately priced.
Just found this place. Eaten here twice. Once for dinner and today for breakfast. Great service and fantastic food both meals. I will definitely eat here more often.
Good food. Nice family place. My husband and I ate here when we were dating and they just opened in 1990. I now have a gluten allergy. Spoke to the staff - hard to get a hold of the owner - and they dont offer any gluten-free options and have no plans to. So sad. Ill have to find a new favorite with my family. Thanks for the memories Cup and Saucer!
The foods always tasty and well priced! Theres a good selection for everyone who might drop by for any meal and the staffs always really friendly and happy to help. Even with my annoying dietary restrictions, I always walk away full. Usually with food to take home, too.
My daughter and I gave this place a shot tonight and what a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! Being half Caucasian and Asian, I am amazed as to how this place gets 4 stars when their food has NO TASTE! Being ethnic, we KNOW flavor and this place is sorely lacking! Just stating facts! If you like over cooked, dry, tasteless food, this is definitely the place to visit. The hot chocolate was very small with more whip cream than hot cocoa and wasn’t worth the price. The chocolate cake was VERY DRY and too sweet. Definitely not worth buying! Also, their staff aren’t very welcoming and have really no customer service skills. TRAINING is VERY needed here!! I won’t be returning to this establishment! Good luck if you choose to eat here! 🤢🤮
I have been going here for years. A nice, clean, family oriented restaurant with great dinner specials. Staff is very attentive and polite-no issues.
Best neighborhood eatery. We’ve been going here for years. ❤️
I enjoy the food (especially for breakfast), the coffee is a good reason to come and the staff is awesome but the WiFi is really slow.
Great little restaurant. The food is cooked fresh it is fair and reasonably priced and everything Ive eaten there has been delicious. The friendly staff and clean up Miss fear makes it a must try.
A bit dated in terms of appearance, but good food and good service. Great breakfast and a huge menu
Good, inexpensive food and a waitress with a cute giggle, visited 8/17/18 around 8.00 pm, lots of older folks here that seemed to enjoy themselves at this throw back diner. I had the liver and onions - basic, but delicious, with mashed potatoes gravy, fresh veggie mix, clam chowder, and chocolate cake, and a bottle of beer, for about $25 including tip. Nice atmosphere, I appreciated the TV that had the Giants game on and the generous air conditioning that kept the place nice and cool on a pretty hot evening, I had my doubts about the place when I walked in, but a place that anticipates their guests with great AC, convinced me to stay. I look forward to trying this old school diner again sometime soon, highly recommended!
Nice cute diner with outdoor seating. Coffee cups are small and portions could have been better. But the highlight was the flank steak and eggs breakfast. Steak was seasoned perfectly
Excellent food. Excellent service at great prices.
Service is very good here. Food was good. Reason I only gave three stars the restaurant really needs some repairs and updates.
The Cup and Saucer has good food and good coffee. The service is great. Its a nice place to sit and visit with friends or family while enjoying a good meal.
Good food great service good price their milkshakes and chicken tenders are amazing and the chili burgers and salads are good
Great burger. Fast, friendly service. Lots of coffee refills
Cute little diner. Food was good. Outside sitting.
Consistently delicious food throughout dozens of visits. From my observations, the owner and staff treat customers with a friendly service that is lacking in so many places these days. A clean, comfortable place to go.
Samira is the best server. Always warm and fast and beautiful and considerate.
Great place for breakfast (all day), lunch and dinner. Also includes light and healthy options all at reasonable prices. I will definitely go again.
Not a fan. I have a friend that likes to meet here because its convenient but the food has been consistently going downhill every visit. Every single visit they have managed to get something wrong on our visit. EVERY single visit. The last visit the quesadilla was inedible- the meat tough and tasted off.
The service here was very slow and almost non existent. The food was decent, but nothing to come back again for. IMO for what you get it was also overpriced.
I have been here plenty of times but this morning it just wasnt that great.. our waitress, blonde short hair wasnt very personable.. she wasnt really rude but just wasnt smiling or friendly.. food was just ok today as well.. maybe it will be better next time.
Outstanding service and food. I call the chef The Soup Natzi. Best ever soup! Real home cooking with a twist of local grown ingredients.
Good diner food, we just had burgers today. The beef, and the turkey, burgers iboth came with french fries. Hardy, moist and filling, the burgers come with extra onions, tomatoes, a good sized leaf of lettuce, and sided with a slice of dill pickle. Always a mix of people, the food is plentiful. However, husband had a breakfast there. The hash browns were mush, but the rest of the breakfast was excellent. Avoid their hash browns.
This is a small restaurant which some might call a diner or coffee shop. The owner is present and the place is well run. My food was not spectacular but it was competent. The service was friendly and attentive.
Delicious food and great service!
One of my favorite spots. Great for breakfast and quite good for dinner. Been coming here for more than 20 years.
Love this place. Great selection.... great food... great value and portions.... great staff
Goodol comfort food. Great coffee and attentive service. Pulled pork for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is one of their specialities.
They treat people awesome here. It definitely feels like youre with family each time you eat. Plus its great food! Keep rocking Raul and staffSpecial shoutouts to Tracy, Jessica, and Mary!
Im not a local but visited a couple times because its a nostalgic place for my wifes family. For them, they enjoy it but... honestly, I think its more of the nostalgia.I found the food to be okay but for the total price, its not great. There are lots of choices of things to eat in the area, so this place just doesnt seem worth it.It really does feel like an old diner. Its clean, but it just feels dated.Overall an okay place if your into it, but Id rather spend around $15 a plate elsewhere.
Food is great every time we get food from here
Get the coffee cake. You know, they will let you order it by the pan: half sheet or whole! Take that to your next brunch potluck. Oh, and other things are worth eating too. ;)
Love this little hole-in-the-wall. Great place to go to eat
Ever had Corned Beef Hash Sushi?I did. It had a cooked crust but appeared and tasted raw on the inside. Ive prided myself on my omnivorocity over the last 60 years, so I was very sad to leave nearly all of it on my plate. The coffee at Cup and Saucer has been the worst Ive ever tasted (but it has been remarkably consistent over the years). Other than that, the service is good and the place is clean and tidy.
They know how to make good burgers 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Had a sister come into town and asked me to take her here again. bring your appetite because portions are filling. reminds me of a cafe in chicago i liked to visit.
Good old fashioned diner. My favorite item here is the Liver and Onion dinner. Get the bacon add on. Add in black coffee and a side of toast and you are set. Despite what people say about iceberg lettuce, its still my favorite salad base. Ditto for thousand island dressing. And yes, they have iceberg lettuce and thousand island dressing. I didnt like the cobbler thing, but I dont like anyones cobbler offerings. Chocolate cake is good and goes well with black coffee. Coffee mugs are bit small, but wait staff comes by often. Guninue mom and pop establishment, give it a try.
Great local stop for any meal. Locally owned and a good value.
Great neighborhood cafe.We typically go for breakfast. Try the chicken fried steak and eggs with the carrot cake bread.
Food is always good, especially the apricot french toast! But friends I was with made this memorable.
Good food. Affordable price and nice servers. Also no carb breakfast is good
Locals breakfast and lunch place. Staff is friendly and helpful. Seat you as soon as they have an open seat. Wish they had a counter bar for single walk ins, however still a cozy corner
Been a fave in my family for over 30 yrs! Yummy food. Great service!
Quaint little hole in the wall restaurant. Nothing fancy, but the food is good and prices are reasonable. Service is fairly fast also.
My favorite breakfast diner. Clean, friendly staff, delicious food. This place is no frills but thats what I love about it!
Great service, excellent value, friendly staff.
Grilled chicken and avocado was delicious. Raspberry tea is unsweetened and good to the taste.
Always professional and friendly servers and the food is quite good.
We ate there for my birthday& I thought everything was delicious ; I keep looking for excuses to go back, again!!! Luckily, my women’s group from church is meeting here tomorrow for our second breakfast of the season!!! so grateful for this yummy place!!!Counting my blessings!😇🎉❤️
Great little coffee shop. Food was good. It would not be classed as a 4 star restaurant.
Awesome breakfast Ask for Bridget, shes been there 20+ years Shell get ya e everything you need and shes a custom pancake artist!!
Great choices for breakfast. Consistently high quality diner
