This is a professional and reliable business. I have been impressed and grateful for their honesty and knowledge on both my Cayenne and X5. Both cars have high miles and are mid 2000’s models. When my Cayenne overheated, they could have recommended extensive and expensive repairs, but they did not. They let me know that considering the age and mileage of the car it probably wasn’t worth repairing. Tucker is conscientious about following up and totally trustworthy. I would recommend this Auto repair shop with 100% confidence.

Since day one of using German auto works I felt totally happy and contented . The guys always remember my name, which is very sweet & personable. They are professional, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced .They get my Mercedes in and out in a very timely manner. I have never ever been disappointed by the work done . In fact, one time a Mercedes dealer tired to get me to buy new brakes just before driving to LA, saying I needed them for the trip . I got a second opinion from German auto works and they assured me my brakes were fine and said a light would come on when it was time for a brake chk . Total honesty, never feel taken advantage of . Thank you so much for fixing my Volvo. I was driving through SLO from LA and my car broke down! Couldn’t put it into gear at all and a horrible sound when trying to switch between drive and reverse. I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to make it back to LA in time, but they were able to quickly get the parts I needed and fix my car within 2 days!! Very professional, very fast and it is as l as expensive the I had initially thought. German Auto is amazing!

These guys are great. I have been coming here for along time. They are have diagnosed and fixed my cars problems every time, always in a timely manner. It’s always nice to be able to depend on your mechanic to do things right the first time. I will continue to use their devices.

Wanted to like this place. Started off really good. Ended really poorly. Was treated like I was not Important and my car wasnt good enough for them. Was told they would research certain parts my car needed and would get back to me...they didnt. Was told my car was fixed for the issues I brought it in for...it wasnt. I am not doubting the work they did...but they were not thorough. No way they took my car for a test drive post repairs. Did not reset any of the systems and didnt seem very aware of what was done. On paperwork there were a lot of complaining about the condition of my car. Now it isnt perfect by far-its from 2005-but they treated me like I handed them a dumper that lived under a tree and never got an ounce of work done. I am disappointed. I wanted to be a new regular now that I can afford the work needed on my car. But from my experience...I wasnt enough for them to pay attention too. They took DAYS with my car...then call me at two oclock to tell me I have to be here by five to pay for the car so they can close their books for the month...not giving a damn about the fact I am working as well. Had to leave my job...get written up- only to be treated poorly by them when I spent well over a grand. Wish things would of been different. I waited to be contacted and never heard from them again. I see many people like them...and I hope your experience is different but mine was not good.

Came recommended from my other favorite shop, which itself is likely more praise than I can give,and I wasnt disappointed. Friendly and easy to talk to about the problem. I know enough about cars to sometimes know what might be wrong and they listened to my input without talking down to me (or at me) which is a nice change from the bmw dealership.

Ive been going here for over 8 years with multiple different vehicles. I enjoy wrenching on my own cars but when I dont have the tools, time or Im straight-up stumped on something German Auto always knocks it out quickly and educates me on the issue/solution. Highly recommended!

I brought my ‘09 335i in with a minor oil leak and a burning smell. They correctly diagnosed it as a leaking valve cover gasket and replaced the gasket and valve cover. Service was done quickly, well, and price was reasonable - comparable to other BMW specialists I’ve been to California.I’m leaving this review because German Auto went above and beyond - they washed my car and even removed a few bird spots before I picked it up. Great service!

Truly professionally run business. No nonsense, honest and skilled. I had some transmission and fault codes that caused the car to not shift. I had done some work on my older Mercedes 320 myself but didn’t have the skills or diagnostic equipment to complete the repairs. I had estimates from the local dealer upwards of $1000-2000 to repair it. Tucker and the team accomplished the repairs for under $400 and the car runs perfectly. I’ll never use another Mercedes repair shop.

I was in town on a visit and the rear brakes went bad on my grey market 1999 Mercedes G500. Other shops are hesitant with a grey market car. They had no problem, ordered the correct parts ahead of time and got me back on the road in half a day. I was amazed and will use them again when I am in the area. Highly recommended.

They installed a back latch that I supplied thePart, which works great now. Only disappointment was that they charged $62 just to diagnose the broken latch which was not discussed originally. They also charged an extra half hour because they had issues with the non factory part, which was understandable. Just walked out spending $124 more than expected.

Having been to just about every VW repair shop in California and beyond for my 85 Vanagon, I have experienced it all. Most shops are incompetent, inexperienced and or blood thirsty pirates. German Auto is none of these and they are one of only a few that I would recommend .German Auto in SLO is a shop that I immediately trusted and my experience was a refreshing, easy, successful, and pleasant one.Tucker and crew are knowledgable, experienced, and communicative which made a great difference in diagnosing and repairing the Brown Bison Van. I had previously been to two shops for this particular issue, and they misdiagnosed and improperly repaired the vehicle only to have it break down just miles after I drove away.German Auto fixed the issue and were very fair to me given how much time they spent getting it back on the road.

WOW!!! This repair shop saved me about $20K!!!!!Had a car delivered to them for a pre purchase inspection (PPI).As I am not in California. It was a 996 911 cab. Car looked ok in pictures. But they looked this car over and found a laundry list of issues with this vehicle!!! They did not recommend me purchasing the car and even pulled oil filter too to inspect oil. Which I believe should have been extra but they did not charge me. Car was repainted and had a lot of cosmetic issues. Pretty much soured the deal on a 40,000mile car that was roughly used.Steven was very upfront and ethical. Really nice guy over there. Thank god I had these guys check of over the car. Thank you German Auto!!!

With 174,000 miles, my car handles as well as when I purchased it. Jim, Tucker and Steven always explain carefully what needs to be done to keep the car at peak performance, and then they deliver year after year.If I didnt have German Auto to trust, I would have by now sold the BMW and moved on with another car. Their pricing is fare, they can drive me home and pick me up later in the day when work on the car is finished and washed to look great. Highly recommend them after all these years.

I took my 2011 328i in to German Auto for an oil change and a problem with the transmission. They diagnosed the problem along with a couple of other things that needed work. I got coil replaced, 6 new spark plugs, and a transmission flush all for a very reasonable price. This was my 2nd experience (had an oil change last year) with German Auto and I have nothing but positive things to say about them. If you have a problem Id definitely trust them to take a crack at it!

I have been driving 200 miles and staying in a hotel to get my car fixed in Costa Mesa. So happy I kept up the search. Jim and Tucker took care of our car as promised. Im a mechanics worst nightmare. Im an enthusiast. Meaning I know enough to get into trouble and super picky and like to bring them aftermarket parts. I had a super annoying whistle at wot every shop I took it to told me pcv valve failure. Well Im an enthusiast and watch the humble mechanic on YouTube so I knew better because if it was that the whine would go away if I pulled the dip stick. Anyways took it to German auto they put it up in the air and in 5min Tucker hands me a piece of my exhaust manifold and tells me a stud broke off in my head and they need to drop the engine to extract it. The other shops quoted me $300 for a service I didnt need. German auto quoted me $1900 for a service I did need. When it was all said and done I paid 1750 because they did it faster than expected. Theyve also spotted damage not fixed by an old accident handled by a different shop and reopened my claim and fixed it right. I cant recommend this shop enough. Professional, honest, and know their German cars!

Honest pricing, acceptable mark up on parts, and theyll hold old ones for you to check out. They will also coach you through whats going on. Tucker is very professional and courteous. I really appreciate having the service record online and accessible. No complaints yet, they keep my car humming like it should.

Perry VW is truly terrible in comparison.My auto repair spot for the 2 years I lived in SLO - incredibly professional, speedy, and trustworthy. They perfectly balance quality and cost - not wildly overpriced, and yet not so cheap that youre harming yourself in the long-run. Tucker is your guy.

I cant speak highly enough of German Auto! They will save you money rather than recommend unnecessary work. How cool is that?One mechanic tried imminent breakdown fear tactics to sell me a new battery and alternator on a 1980 Porsche (which would have cost over $700). Im used to this BS - a lot of mechanics try to snow female car owners.A second opinion by German Auto said that the entire charging system was fine. The diagnosis cost $70, and I was more than happy to pay real experts for their time - they saved me a lot of money.If you drive any type of German car and live anywhere near SLO, get the work done at German Auto. Theres a reason theyre busy - they get a lot of repeat business from customers who trust them. They warranty their work - 12 months for parts and labor. And as a bonus, theyre an absolute pleasure to deal with!
