Awesome service here! Manager was very professional and super nice! Danielle waited on me and was First Class! Every time I am in there I am greeted with smiling faces and awesome service! Highly recommend this place! ❤️
This place is very clean and has clean bathrooms. The customer service was good the food on the other hand was not as good. The corn tortillas were hard as a rock and the scramble eggs I received were scraped of the pan. I will definitely give them a second try since they did have good customer service.
The coffee is always good and the limited edition/holiday flavors are interesting (maple sage? Delicious and not as sweet as the usual flavors)Both locations are good and the staff are nice.
I went there last Sunday and staff was amazing the barista Kylie was very nice and even did an extra shot on the house and was amazing with her customer service. The cook was also very nice and made an amazing sandwich despite the changes I had to make due to my dietary restrictions. He also was really nice about making my food even though I came close to closing. Definitely the best coffee shop in San Marcos!!
First visit was awesome. Weather was nice so we sat outside. Place is a lot larger than we expected! Great location, atmosphere is warm and inviting. Suitable for homework, coffee date, or lunch to catch up with friends. Sugar free flavors available! Friendly staff was kind and quick to answer any questions. We will be regulars soon!
Delicious. Good prices, pretty fast, nice bathrooms, open wifi. Would come here again many times
I take my kids here when I pop into town. I havent had anything bad. The service is friendly and quick. The menu has something for everyone.
Food is delicious and service is great! Won’t disappoint. Will be my breakfast stop anytime I’m in San Marcos. Don’t let the name fool you. The menu is more than coffee. They have a full breakfast menu that is served all day.
Used to love this place. Order has been wrong 4 times in a row. Next time I go if it’s right I’ll fix it. Hoping somebody at the store cares to read this.
Had the last day of the month pancake specials, was a 5 star. The staff and servers were super nice and the couches to sit and eat were a plus. My only compliant is that there are NO nutrition facts. They could not tell me how much sugar or calories were in the smoothies. The smooth is NOT healthy, its made with syrup and concentrate. Step it up yall, give healthy options and show the food facts!
Delicious breakfast sandwich! Fresh eggs and tasty and soft, yet crispy, sourdough bread. The sandwich was fresh and warm and felt truly homemade. The coffee is yummy, nothing spectacular about a basic latte, but that’s why is noteworthy. Good coffee is simply good. Atmosphere is great. Low key and not flashy. Yet still clean and hip. Was treated very well by everyone which is apparently a lot to ask for these days. Thanks to the owner for providing a place where customers can make their own choices while providing yummy breakfast! Will definitely be back.
So disappointed in this place. Keeping classes in person at the University is dependent upon people being responsible and yet not a single employee was wearing a mask. I dont want to give my money to a business that cares that little about its employees and the communitys health. Dont you realize how much business youll lose if we go back online? How hard is it to do the right thing in a pandemic? I wont be back.
Love the drinks and atmosphere! Great hang out spot to chill and study
I am a drinker of ice coffee, that all I ever order, so Ive tried ice coffees everywhere. THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST. It was like a coffee shake without the brain freeze...Im just saying...the Staff was super nice even to an old goat like me...( not the good goat, the old goat)
Shout-out to Isaac, great experience!
Friendly staff!! Great food and coffees....and amazing smoothies! Definitely a place to go for breakfast cravings!
My enjoyment and appreciation of this particular coffee shop is vast and deep. Featuring $2 On your Honor coffee and a wealth of comfy reading nooks, it is a respite for many a TxSt student. Also a reliable place to yell- I need help with my theory homework! Or When is the call time for the Choral Collage? And probably get an answer. Also their pancakes are so good. 6/5 stars if I could. Would adopt this coffee shop if that was a thing.
Must go place! If you are in the San Marcos area you have to come to this place! The pancakes are delicious and the East LA sandwich is the best! We come to Mochas every time we area in the area!
Great place but if you’re going to advertise vegan options, especially on the window you guys need to have better options.
Great place for coffee and/or a bite to eat. Excellent service.
Order the sandwich and it took literally 10 minutes to make will not go here again
Omg! I’ve been going for about a little less than a year. (This is my sisters account but I go by SaVage) Everyone welcomes me and my partner every time, no matter how busy!! Amazing people and amazing baristas. Whenever my car got broken into a couple months back, I came in and was talking with someone there and they gave me a brownie. It really shows the care and positive attitudes they bring. They strive to make your day better:) thanks so much friends !!!
It kind of has a Panera vibe, which I enjoyed. I got the Hollywood sandwich and it was deliciousssss.
Nice place! Used to be a drug store. Staff was very nice and the pastries were great! Good coffee. Lots of goodies here.
I love mocha and Java’s it’s great but the taste was off from what I remember but it was still delicious I love it, it’s better than Starbucks
Too bad the owner wasn’t wearing a mask while working behind the counter, and several employees were of the mask below the nose variety. Too bad because they serve the best lattes in town, by far the best.
Staff is friendly and good at what they do! The espresso is 10x better than Starbucks. Id pick mochas and Javas any day
Awesome place, great food and coffee.
Everyone who works here is really nice and the coffee and breakfast is always spot on. The smoothies are good too!
Sooooo a major downside is that they recently started an online ordering option, which is awesome, but it’s new and the options for modifications aren’t accurate for everything on the menu (can’t add avocado, you can only add guacamole for example, and can’t get extra pesto you can only “add” pesto) and it doesn’t provide you the option to leave a note or modify anything. This would be no issue if they would at least answer the phones... seems like since they started online ordering they turned the phones off and I can never call to make modifications or place my to go order over the phone. So it looks like I’m stuck with a half-done ordering system if I don’t want to dine in-person :-(
Good coffee and breakfast, the hash browns are da bomb ☺️
1 star because it’s 10:30 and they did have half the stuff we wanted not even a bottle of water, service is slow and server is rude. Would not come again
Great food and coffee.
Good place to study.
Great coffee, cool atmosphere
Many people would say this bean tastes great. I would also say that. 5 stars.
Food was so delicious. The service was friendly and observant. The bill was decent.
Great salted caramel mocha! Thanks
This coffee shop is conveniently located across the street from Texas State. However, if you are a college student, you need to exercise extreme caution when parking in their parking lot because you might get towed. Apparently they have a towing company sit in the lot and watch to make sure people get out of their cars and go immediately into one of the businesses . If you leave the lot at all after parking, even if you come back in 30 minutes to get a cup of coffee, then your car has likely already been towed like ours was. That makes for a very expensive cup of coffee. Thats the last cup of coffee Ill be buying here, and I wont be patronizing any of the other businesses in this shopping center either.
Theyre coffee is so so good!
Their scones are good but they taste more like biscuits. Just an FYI
I like Mochas and Javas. Im a student so its gotta be one of the first places any new student goes thats right off campus. There arent that many places adjacent to campus like that. Traffic causes wear, but, their indie vibe and nice well-trained staff make it a pleasure to come back to. Menu is nice with some good food but I tend to just go for Mochas and Javas.
My go-to spot for all day breakfast. Pancakes with walnuts, jam, and of course butter are my favorite but doesnt even scratch the surface of their menu. Dont forget to try the Java bacon (espresso rubbed bacon). Yes I said that right. Its delicious. Do yourself a favor and grab a table. Its as chill as it gets with always friendly service. Cheers mates.
I love the staff here! They are so friendly and the coffee is consistently tasty. Its locally owned and not a huge corporate chain unlike....some coffee places....ahem. I wrote about half of my thesis sitting at this shop and am very grateful to them for always being so welcoming and friendly. Thanks, MJ staff! :)
Beautiful place with lots of seating, cozy nooks, and natural daylight coming in through large windows. The coffee is 1st class and the staff are friendly, polite and helpful. You can refill coffee on an honor system. Food looks delicious, too. I can only speak for the breakfast tacos to the left of the cashiers - yum!
I love everything Ive had and the staff is always super friendly!
Lots of fun memories here and great coffee! I only ever had their quick bites like oat meal or a pastry but everything is pretty tip top! My fave drink is the iced dirty blonde on a hot summer day. Another great spot to get in on what the college vibes are like. MANY study sessions and meet ups happen here, its just a great location and an awesome business!
My favorite coffee shop in all of San Marcos! Super kind people and the owner is very nice as well! The best coffee Ive ever tasted, and they make it even better by adding an extra shot of espresso if you want it. The food is AMAZING with great healthy options. Everything thats served here tastes real and genuine. Love it!!
Amazing coffee, great prices, and incredibly kind people working here.
This coffee shop is super nice and I enjoyed it very much 5 stars definitely recommended
I love this Mochas and Javas. It has a homey, coffee shop vibe. There is lots of seating inside and outside. The staff is so friendly, and I love how they give a free extra shot in their espresso beverages.
Waited around 27 minutes for them to make me 3 pancakes, in the end had to leave with out my food. The coffee was ready in 2 minutes and was delicious, but their food quite literally wasted my time and money. 1/10 save yourself money.
This was one of the first places I went to in San Marcos after moving here for college. The location is super close to campus, and the atmosphere is really cool! The coffee is great, and during finals week, that extra shot of espresso for free helps out so much. The food is a little pricey, but Ive never had anything taste bad from here. They have another location on Wonder World, but I by far prefer going to the LBJ location.
Im a San Marcos chamber member and I decided to attend one of their events, which was at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore shop in San Marcos. I met the manager and she was so welcoming and offered me to take part of their free coffee,**mochas and Javas sponsored the desserts. The scones were scones were out of this world!**
College kids make the place cool, their love for the brand shows as well as their team work. The yogurt was loaded w fruit which my kids appreciated. The chai frappe will have you saying up all all night with a smile. Fresh quite chilling spot next to Texas State if Im correctly stating the college across the way.
Love love love! Great coffee and food! Great spot to study, have a lunch date or just meet up with friends for a quiet spot to play board games with your meal.
Food is slightly expensive and small but its a college coffee shop so thats expected. The service and the employees are always incredible, its quiet enough to study alone or in large groups. Its a very relaxing place to sit back and have a great cup of coffee
Always love coming here. Great coffee and great food. The staff is always nice and wonderful.
The best coffee here, They make it so good. I havent gotten coffee from anywhere else in so long. The prices are similar to Starbucks but definitely way better than Starbucks and totally worth it. and LOVE that extra shot on the house. The sandwiches are so delicious too and healthy.
It has a nice atmosphere, and the hot tea they serve is one of the better commercially available brands. Their prices are pretty good for a coffee shop as well. The only real issue I have is that it is almost always crowded with college students, since it is right next to one of the university entrances.
A nice coffee shop with good food. The breakfast taco and blueberry scone were very good, and the latte was served timely and hot. Perhaps not the best coffee shop Ive ever been to, but if youre near Texas State and need coffee, go here.
Always a quick place to grab a great cup of coffee- and they offer a free extra shot of espresso in espresso drinks.
Consistently good coffee and the ambience continues to feel very cozy as it did in the old location even though the place has probably quadrupled in size. More food offerings, a complete menu and plenty of space foe studying. Its location right off campus on North LBJ is perfect.
One of my favorite places for iced coffee. They have really good sandwich and fun atmosphere.I wish they could expand and create more seating and have a drive through.
Great!
I have love getting my morning coffee here for the last 3 years. Their prices are fair, the food is phenomenal (I love their soups when they have them), and I usually just get regular drip coffee but that is really great too. The staff is really great as well, the owner has always made a point to address me by name and everyone is incredibly friendly. Best coffee shop in San Marcos!
Friendly staff, love the drink and food here. Never had an issue. If youre hungry for breakfast and coffee in San Marcos stop by.
Its so appetizing. Ive had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. The place has an awesome feel to it.
Freshly brewed coffee. With a nicely compacted menu. Excellent.
Best place in TOWN!!!! I love this place and I always visit when i am in the area. I have spent many late nights of studying and cramming of final exams. If you want to support a local business with great service and southern hospitality go check them out!
They set themselves apart from other well known coffee shops. Super friendly staff brewing up some great coffee and delicious food.
Nice, airy coffee shop with plenty of tables and lots of electrical outlets. Good drinks and very friendly staff. Extremely convenient to the Texas State campus and a good amount of parking too.
Mochas and Javas is my favorite coffee shop in San Marcos!! If you visit the location on LBJ, they have a full menu with salads, sandwiches, soups, etc. The food is made fresh with the freshest ingredients. I love that there is ALWAYS a new unique coffee drink to try. Staff is alsoalways friendly and helpful!! If you havent already, check out Mochas and Javas!!!
Mochas and Javas has great drinks and food! Their atmosphere is super chill and its a great place to work on the weekends. Their paninis are really good and their staff is super friendly!
Great place near the univertsity to grab a drink and a bite while studying or just relaxing. They provide free Wifi and the connection is suitable for doing most things youd need to do. I can get really busy so be patient and table will eventually open up.
This is by far my favorite coffee place in San Marcos. Throughout my undergrad I spent more time studying here than anywhere else because of the great atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and usually offer free shots of espresso in drinks. They also have great brownies and paninis!
The mocha latte was delicious and more affordable than a certain chain with a coffee-drinking mermaid.
Food and coffee are legit. The staff are really the best part, though: always helpful, friendly, yet professional and to-the-point. Great experience every time.
Stopped by for lunch, nice staff and excellent East LA panini. Tried their featured Aztec Mocha Latte, tad sweet for me but very good!Highly recommend
Really great place. We ordered a butterbeer latte (which was fantastic btw) and were offered an extra shot of espresso on the house. They serve breakfast all day, which is a major bonus in my book, and have a really broad variety of items on the menu. Lots of vegan and gluten-free items which arent listed on the website menu, and they are really great about customizing anything you want.We ordered gluten-free pancakes (scratch made in house) and they were delicious. Another huge bonus is that they use real maple syrup instead of that horrible maple flavored corn syrup stuff that most places use. We will definitely be back.
Best coffee shop ever! Keep working on perfecting the gluten-free muffin recipe. Its tasty, but sometimes a little dry. Other than that, youre the best. Keep offering to put the secret ingredient in the lemon ginger tea :)
Im unimpressed with the remodel. They lost their cozy atmosphere and now its very hard to see your computer screen because of all of the tall windows. The seating is also uncomfortable unless youre lucky enough to get one of the 3 couches they have. With that being said, its still one of the better coffee shops in town.
This is my absolute favorite place to camp out and study because of the stable chairs, table height and lengths, and lighting. It also has a wonderful selection of fun and tasty drinks and the staff always goes above and beyond to get you just what youd like to start your day the right way! My only suggestion is to start offering pour over coffee of nice fresh coffee beans of good brands like cuvée coffee or from the San Marcos farmers market. That would make an awesome alternative to the dark and light roast!
Ive never been a huge fan of the taste of Mochas and Javas espresso drinks. As someone that drinks coffee and lattes multiple times a week and try different coffee shops the taste of the espresso always tastes burnt to me. Besides this, the staff has always been very welcoming and service is very prompt which is nice. The location is very spacious and has a good vibe to it.
Good coffe and friendly service.
Purchased a coffee and food, walked across the street to campus to drop off something, came back 20 minutes later and had to pay $50 to not get my truck towed. I will never reccomend nor go to this place again, as I do not understand the difference between me purchasing goods and spending 20 minutes in the shop versus me purchasing goods and spending 20 minutes not in the shop. Parking lot was almost completely vacant, which ironically probably meant whoevers job it is to stare at people walking in and out had a much easier time losing my business.
Delicious coffee and great, positive vibe
The food and drinks are always great but the best part is the service. Everyone always has a smile.
Amazing and attentive staff. The coffee may be the best in San Marcos, at least the Peruvian was. And I just learned they do catering and intend to use them for my next party.
Its a good all around coffee shop. Sandwiches are good but a bit over priced. Any drink with espresso already in it you can add another at no additional charge. Great for the student pick-me-up.
Great coffee, great staff, great atmosphere.
Good coffee. Nothing fancy. I enjoyed the mocha-chino.
The new location (same spot, just much bigger - as of Oct. 2016) is pretty sweet and the breakfast menu is great. They regularly offer extra shots of coffee on the house, so keep that in mind if youre getting specialty drinks. Plenty of space, an airy environment, and some comfortable couches and chairs to compliment the standard table set ups.I definitely recommend the Java Bacon, which is bacon rubbed with coffee; sounds weird but its pretty amazing.Very nice staff as well, and the line moves quick. Wifi is usually running at a swift 50 Mbps. Fastest Ive seen anywhere in the city.
