I’ve had the privilege of talking with Chris, the owner of the shop, and he is a very awful human being. The guy is a giant meat-head with an attitude problem and you can hear it in his voice that he hates his life and he’s job. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT DO ANY KIND OF BUSINESS WITH THIS SHOP. If your insurance recommends this shop, tell them no! They’re far better body shops in the area with great customer service to pick from. Chris, if your such a huge a-hole when you talk on the phone, why the heck did you get into a business that has to do with customer service??? Save your money and time folks!!!
I recently had a minor fender bender. Filed a claim with my insurance. Chris and his staff are very attentive, polite, and professional. He let me know ahead of time what to expect. I dropped my car off on Monday and had my car back by Friday. Chris kept me informed throughout the entire process. My car looks good as new. Thank you so much!
I went to Chris to customize my 4Runner. He was great! He gave me 2 separate options and the prices associated with each. I had got a quote from another shop in town for the same work and Chris came in lower than the other shop for the same work. The work came out great and I am super stoked!!!!

Unfortunately, Ive had to come here all too often. However, that being stated, Ive had excellent service and experiences from Chris and his staff. Prompt service, honest assessments and excellent workmanship. As I always say when I leave, hope I dont see you again, but will be glad if I have to.
For decades, we have taken our cars to Chris Bordner Auto Body in Santa Cruz. Thankfully, we have only needed his services occasionally. But whenever we have, Chris and his crew have gone out of their way to facilitate arrangements with our insurance company, do an extremely thorough and high quality job, and help us keep the cost down. Rather than papering over any hidden or unexpected problems, Chris flags them and makes sure they are taken care of with the same high quality of service we have come to expect from all their work. To top it off, he’s located right next door to car rentals, very convenient. All of which makes us grateful customers.
Chris repaired a car that was almost totaled and did an excellent job. He knew I love this car and I use this car to earn my living and he brought it back to life. He is an honorable man who takes pride in his work and I will never go anywhere else for body work.
Always a pleasure and things always done right. Once after 200k miles of this ding and that bump, I repainted / repaired the entire body. I wanted something a little special without damaging resale value. Chris looked up the paint mix on my ancient Prelude and suggested just a hint more purple in the mix of red. This brought the look of my car to life but in a subtle way. Reasonable cost too, as I recall. Thank you Chris! Getting the bumper on my new Mazda replaced right now and everything is on time and within cost. I always request Bordners when I am having insurance work done.
Chris has always been awesome, never fun bringing your car in for repair after getting hit! I trust Chris & he does not take advantage of me or my insurance. Sadly this time around my car has been deemed as a complete loss through my insurance. Chris has given me good solid advice in buying my next new car. I would reccomend this business & so nice that HERTZ is right there, that set up makes it much less painful. My car always looks brand new when I pick it up!
This is the worst body shop you can ever go through. My insurance toed my car to this specific body shop without my consent for whatever reason. I do regret having to deal with the arrogant, mentally challenged, discriminatory owner, Chris Bordner. I would recommend avoiding this body shop at all cost. I am aware that this person has many years of experience and would probably perform a good job if your a white. I am not joking. Save yourself the time and stress by looking for another body shop that will attend to you with care and respect a customer deserves.

Chris Bordner Auto Body has always done great work for me. I go out of my way to have them to do the bodywork. From all I can tell, they are honest and straight up. Cant imagine what lies behind the bad review I see on this list.
I never go anywhere else. Ive been a customer since the early 1990s when Chris worked at the Acura dealer that used to be at that location. Since the dealer closed Chris has had his business there and Ive never gone anywhere else. Dont even shop around because I know I can always trust Bordners Auto Body. They have always done what they said theyd do. Ive never had a single negative surprise, ever. I get updates when necessary and everyone has always been pleasant throughout the many years.
They care about you and your vehicle more than profit. Very personable people
Dealing with a wrecked car is a pain in the butt no matter how you look at it.. The guys at Chris Bordner were a pleasure to work with. They kept me posted on the progress of my repair, and even let me bring in aftermarket parts to install as a substitute for OEM parts, which not only accomplished upgrades i was planning on doing anyways, but saved me so much money that paid for my deductible AND left me with cash in my pocket.Highly recommend them if you need body work done.
What an arrogant horrible human being the owner is. go somewhere else, do yourself a favor. the paint work had grind marks showing thru the paint, large chunks of lint in the paint, they had to sand out the chunks of lint and repaint most of the area they worked on, Ive had to bring the car back 3 times to have them fix their poor workmanship and now the owner doesnt want to accept that the poor paint work they did is their fault by getting aggressive and insulting saying he doesnt feel good about doing the repairs, AGAIN. There are many body shops out there, go somewhere else and avoid the grief.
