Ive been living in Santa Cruz for almost five years and I have no idea why I didnt hear about these guys before.Right before running my first half marathon I decided to give arm warmers a try. After a quick Yelp search I found Santa Cruz Running Company. And Im glad I did.These guys not only know that they are talking about, but they totally love what they do. They were so nice to me. And one of the guys (sorry, didnt ask his name) gave me a lot of tips and suggestions for my run.Im all in for buying local and supporting our neighborhood stores, so definitely from now on I will be a regular.

They always have great customer service here. They are friendly and make it a goal to get you into the best pair of shoes based on your individual needs. They do foot scans and go over the results, what it means and the best type of shoe based on those results.

Heidi was soooo amazing! She was personable, sweet, smart and comforting! I came in with plantar fasciitis and she was able to find me the right shoes using their scanner and looking at my feet. She went an extra step further by giving me roller exercises that were so relieving in the store! Plus care techniques. Love her. Love this store! Thank you

Just found this gem in Santa Cruz and I’m so happy about it. Great customer service and super friendly staff.I usually buy my running gear online because I didn’t know we had such a good store around here. I was getting ready to run my first half marathon and decided last minute to try some arm warmers. After a quick search I found Santa Cruz running Company.They were super nice and patient with me. You know how newbies can ask silly questions. I got out of the store with the arm warmers and totally pumped to run even more.These guys love what they do!

I have been looking for a quality shoe for quite some time and was recommended this fine establishment by a co-worker. The owner Tim was resting on the back bench with an injury from a run, while his son Jackson was helping a customer with their foot scanning machine. Tim and his son were both very friendly and they helped me find a great Nike shoe which I am overjoyed with! These guys are the people that our community strives on and i would suggest anyone looking for a quality shoe to at least go and visit for the welcoming atmosphere and excellent customer service. I visited this store to buy a pair of supportive trail hiking shoes for my adult daughter. The staff listened carefully to her needs and came up with shoes she is just delighted with and were within my budget. I had such a positive experience here! Im new to running and the crew was super helpful in finding me a pair of shoes. They evaluated my gait, asked me about my running habits, and brought out a bunch of pairs to try. I dont feel like there was a huge mark up on the pair I bought. Theres plenty here beyond shoes - socks, sports bras, clothing... you can nerd out here. Great all around!

This is a nice store but small without much selection. He asked me my size and there were only a few available -- less choice and higher prices than a larger store. They were also less cushioned so they hurt while running.

It was a decent experience. I found the right size shoe that actually fits. They have a scan type machine for a complete 3d digital view of your foot to match you with the perfect shoe.

Just getting back into running, so I came here to get some shoes. The staff was knowledgeable and clearly all active runners. They were able to answer all of my questions, and get me in the right pair of shoes. I had been running in an old pair of tennis shoes, and these shoes made a huge difference. Ive never run more than 5k, but I put my awesome new shoes on right in the store and stepped outside and ran my first marathon! 5 stars, would recommend.

Put simply, I just had a perfect experience. I was listened to, patiently walked through many options, given a chance to try each shoe out, given all the pros and cons of each by a friendly and knowledgeable employee who had tried them all, and wasnt pressured to move up to more expensive models (in fact, it felt like he was trying to save me money)!

I dont often write reviews. But I visited this store for the first time today, and the experience blew me away. Im a fairly avid runner, both road and trail. Its been a few years, but I used to be highly competitive (top five in international marathons, winning ultras ... it used to be a huge part of my life). The store is small, but the moment I walked in and took a glance at what was stocked, I knew. Yup. Owner is *definitely* a runner. These guys know whats what. The owner (or, at least Im assuming he was the owner) was helping other customers when I came in, but I was immediately greeted and welcomed. I was attended to, helped with advice about injuries, taped up with KT (free of charge), and given all kinds of special and helpful deals and advice. I almost dont want to write about all the amazing service I got for fear that others will expect the same all the time! But, needless to say, the service was absolutely above and beyond and these guys clearly care about their customers first and foremost and I can only hope that they are also financially successful because in terms of being a helpful, local, community supporting store that is all about the love of running and sharing that love with others, these guys have nailed it. And, unlike many other small running stores Ive been in, while knowledgeable and full of everything an avid and competitive runner could need, there was absolutely nothing pretentious about the store nor about the service. In the time I was in, several other customers who clearly had ranging experiences and needs (one was an elderly couple looking for comfortable walking shoes) came in and all were given the same amount of focussed and caring service and all left with what they needed. The experience of shopping here was one that left me feeling like I need to give out less five-star reviews because this is setting the bar insanely high. If this is five stars, I should seldom give five-star reviews because this was exceptional. Thank you, Santa Cruz Running Company! Please support businesses like this, people. You can save a few bucks on Amazon, sure. But the service you get by supporting these local REAL people is invaluable. Lets keep stores like this in business, please.

Got a great pair of running shoes and it was reasonably priced with multiple options.

I bought a pair of nice - nearly 200 dollars ASICS after i injured my hips- last September. I liked the shoes a lot and was working p on mileage when I noticed they were causing a blister on my big toe from rubbing whenever I got over 3 .5 miles - this past week I gorgon my other running shoes and had to run in these. They caused a blister. I thought maybe they will exchange them. I couldnt remember how long it had been til he looked up the receipt. Not only did they get mE a new pair but they refunded me the difference between the more expensive ones and the ones I did purchase - typical of a good running store but the attentiveness of staff and ease of exchange was outstanding

I was helped by a gentleman named Eric. I have pretty bad flat feet but he was super informative and had a series of diagnostic tools (e.g. foot pressure mapper, a ipad app to track pronation as I ran on the in-store treadmill, etc.) to help me find the best shoe. As a new runner, I couldnt be more thankful for his knowledge and patience. Best customer service at any establishment Ive seen in a long time. If you are new to running, shop here!
