Olivier went above and beyond in getting my very difficult to find (at least in my part of the country) JL Destroyer to me. He went out of his way to help me get this board when he didnt have to because of its local popularity. His focus is definitely on helping his customers and not just making money. I highly recommend Covewater Paddle Surf!
Best shop in town! Olivier knows the sport and gives great advise on equipment, and carries amazing variety of top gear. His foiling lessons are extremely helpful. After two lessons I was wing foiling on my own next session; in his lessons puts emphasis on good fundamentals that saves time from relearning in a long run.
Swooped a onewheel from em, cool employees that were able to answer questions and help
We called to ask a question we had and the man who picked up the phone had a HUGE attitude problem. Surprising because I’d think that if you want people to come to your place you’d treat people respectfully.
Great customer service! Olivier helped me get just the right board, went out of his way to accommodate my schedule. Lots of inventory and plenty of options. Highly recommended!
Look no further for the best lessons in kitesurfing, while having incredible equipment to make the day even better. Glad we were recommended to hit this place and listened.
Had a great time learning to hydrofoil with Olivier. He gives great instruction in real time while you fly as well as good insight before your first flight. Olivier offers a much safer and faster learning curve than you could ever get on your own. Ive had 2 lessons so far and Im looking forward to a couple more to get comfortable harnessing wave power.
Drove here only to find a tiny sign that says by appointment only and nobody answered the phone.
Amazing place with staff that really know their stuff!!! Totally recommend you drop by
Olivier is fantastic. I went in to get a OneWheel and he let me test ride his personal OneWheel then gave me a solid half hour of lessons so that I wouldnt have to teach myself how to ride. Now Im confidently cruising around town and commuting to work. Top notch service and a great shop.
Spent two mornings with Olivier on the water to learn to Hydrofoil. It was an absolute BLAST. Olivier is a great teacher and super fun to be around. Foiling is an unbelievable experience and Olivier made it happen. Thank you!!
Add a great two days of sup surfing with Olivier. high recommended. Olivier is professional, very good equipment and makes sure you have fun even in weather that is not perfect for surfing. Thank you Olivier!
Extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff! Olivier was amazing in listening to what kinds of paddling I was interested in doing and going through the pros and cons of different set-ups. If youre thinking of going into SUP, this is the place to start, and if youre already in love with SUP but thinking of upgrading, youll find the selection here is fabulous. Also a great range of accessories. Highly recommended!!!
Covewater Paddle Surf is THE place to go for all things SUP....but more importantly, it is the owner of the shop, Olivier Guincetre, who makes the whole place so sweet. He is passionate about the sport and KNOWS his inventory up down and sideways....super knowledgeable and really focuses on the client and their needs. He carries all price points with a healthy nod to beautiful high performance equipment. He is excellent in his service from casual inquiry to final purchase and then, to getting on the water. Bottom line, Olivier is the man and he has an excellent operation at his shop. If you are in the market for any SUP item, Covewater is the only place to go.
If you are a wave paddler and doing a trip to Santa Cruz surf spots, you will need the right equipment to have fun in the water. This is the place where you will find good SUP gear.
Super nice staff. How to get a new adjustable paddle for my friends and family to use on a paddleboard. They had a bunch of great options in all sort of price points. Helped me pick out a great paddle. I I bought my paddle board here about 4 years ago and theyve been very helpful.
My wife and I did a Learn-to-SUP class with the Covewater folks and loved it. They are strong on teaching the skills and a safety but they dont forget that it has to be fun to. Great teachers and very patient with all levels of ability. The rental rates are really cheap and make a great day down at Santa Cruz.
Bought a new Rivera SUP over the weekend. Keith is the most knowledgeable SUP person out there. We found out that Keith races SUP competitively. Good guy, Great service, wouldnt go anywhere else. Thank you Keith for all your insight. See you on the water!
Damien very helpful in picking out an F one SUP 96 32 154L for Asilomar mostly W 2 feet @ 12 seconds so spot on with my ability level and conditions. Would use again for a good selection of rental, used and new surf SUPs
Best place for great board selection and advice! The owner Oliver is knowledgeable and takes the time to understand your needs and recommend the best board for you. They also have rentals and allow demos of boards you want to buy.
Great shop. Covewater has tons of beautiful boards, and very competitive prices. Much better than anything youll find on Craigslist. They organize surf competitions, teach classes, and have super inexpensive polarized sunglasses. Certainly worth a visit.
Great experience renting a SUP from Olivier and Damien. They have a great range of performance boards, took the time to recommend a few good local breaks that are less trafficed and even small touches like switching out fins to match the conditions.
They say they close at 5pm, but I arrived prior to 4:45pm and the doors were locked and no one was in the store. They are closed tomorrow, which makes this much worse. A HUGE thumbs down. Will not bother with this store.
As an avid SUPer, I was excited to learn Covewater had extended their range of activities with hydrofoil. So sure, they have all the equipment for sale but what I read everywhere online was that you cant just get a board, a foil, and go for it. You have to learn behind a boat first. And Covewater does that, but with a twist.First Olivier is an avid foil rider and experienced teacher, and it shows, I got so much out of my lesson. But heres the twist: all learning videos show people being towed behind a boat, dealing with engine turbulences (and smell), and far from the boat: the teacher cant see you from the side, and your foot placement, and that is a BIG problem when learning to foil, thats where all your mistakes will come from. Covewaters boat uses a mast on the side to tow you, so youre close to your teacher, he can see the gazillion mistakes you do (foot placement, hip placement, legs...) and that will make for a huge difference in your progression. Also Olivier made hot tea, and baked fresh waffles!!!So yesterday I took my 3rd lesson, and I cant believe how much progress I made. In the first lesson, you will be flying, but control is still so so, unless you dont suck as much as I did ;-) Second lesson, everything is starting to come together, you learn how to control your altitude on the foil, and get used (addicted) to that awesome feeling of flying over the water. Third lesson, getting up on the foil is easy, you can pop up super quickly, and you start carving turns. That feeling when you are up on the foil is hard to describe, and Oliviers lesson just made the whole experience even better. If you are surfing or SUPing, I highly recommend you try this, it really is something different. Having gone on the boat with Oliver 3 times, I witnessed the same super quick progression with the other students (for most it was faster than for me!).Oh and yesterdays lesson went so well, that I bought my first foil board! Dont rush to get gear, take the lessons first, Olivier really matched me with the perfect setup for my size, goals and level.
We made a Roadtrip through CA and stayed a few days in Santa Cruz. The friendly guys from Coverwater Paddle Surf gave us many great advice where to go, made a very fair price for the rental although its season and helped us again as we came back with a question. We realy recommend the Paddle Surf crew. :)
We bought a gift certificate for a friend in Capitola, and he bought a Werner paddle, a hat, and a paddle bag. He said he liked the store and was happy with his purchase.
Scott and his staff are SUPaholics and are committed to this sport. The best way to get the right board is to try them out, and Covewater has the best selection of all around, surf and race boards in Northern California. They will get you in the right board.
Ive been here a few times and always found knowledgeable, helpful and kind folks. I had to return a gift once and there was no hassle at all.
Outstanding service, great selection of boards and accessories and easy parking.
Great boards and accessories. Everyone in friendly, helpful, and knows the sport well.
Great experience (as of Aug/13) - I would highly recommend learning how to SUP with Covewater.
