Not worth the 50$ brunch would not return. Wish i could get my $9 tip back! The food was edible but as its supposed to be upscale it was far from that. The servers and staff seemed to be very confused, giving us things we didnt order, and having to ask (more than once) for things we e were supposed to get...
For a restaurant that is not a sit down and full service, Bardonna rocks. You approach the counter, place your order, pay and then find a table. There are plenty of outside tables with shade covering, but there are also a lot of tables without shade coverings. On the day we went for Sunday brunch it was a summer like warm day. I was very fortunate to find a shaded table. I am not sure if they allow any inside seating at this time.I ordered the Fried Egg Sandwhich which was perfect. Two perfectly fried eggs on top of arugula, bacon jam and avocado. I wanted to try their kombucha on tap, but they didnt have it, so I bought a refreshing peach ginger juice. The staff is friendly and personable. I would definitely come back again. Free parking on the street north of MonThe only stress is finding a nice table outside that has some shade. Not a bad thing. Just bring a hat!
If you know this part of Montana Ave in Santa Monica, you know that this space has held several iterations of Coffee+food for a decade or more now. Bardonna is the latest version, but unlike its predecessors, they focus way more on the food than the coffee and the results are very good! Its a fast-casual concept, so you order and pay at the counter and the food/drinks are brought out to you. Most of the seating is outside and about half the tables have shade so if its warm and/or you dont like the sun, be warned or wait for one of the few inside tables. On the plus side, there are a bunch of neighborhood dogs in attendance, so if you sit outside youll make some new friends. The food is basically all breakfast/brunch items, from egg-based plates to sandwiches/burritos/wraps to French toast to lox/bagels and from what weve sampled so far, execution in the kitchen is spot-on. Ingredients are fresh, sometimes surprising and, this being Santa Monica, you can get gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan items. Coffee is good here, too.Worth the visit!
Charged $8 for an iced lavender latte that did not include espresso, not made known on menu. Literally a glass of iced milk?!?!?!?!?! The espresso would have cost an additional $3!!!! Insane!!!!!!
A bit ridiculously overpriced, but def delicious!
We love this place. Coffee its amazing, food is very good, service is good too. We definitely love the vibe of this place.
DONT LOOK FOR A SIGN⬇️THEY ARE AT THE CORNER⬇️Extensive Menu including CBD infused items. For those of us whose lives are high enough, theres lots of French cuisine. Inside has only 3 tables, 2 for couples and one that seats 4. Very noisy inside with coffee press, grinders, music and order taking. Theres plenty of tables outside.French vegan restaurant and cafe.
Love the food here. It is farm fresh and innovative. The service maybe sluggish sometimes depends how busy they are.
Amazing brunch place. Poor mans breakfast is delicious. The food is just as good to go!
Gio has excellent service. The food was great. There were 4 of us and we ordered several items from the menu, so we got a good sampling of the menu. Hands sheen favorite was the breakfast burrito.
Customer service was good. The lluevo ranchero in a bowl was not fulfilling. Presentation was beautiful but eating it was not practical. The egg was fresh, the dice tomato was fresh but not plentiful, avocado was fresh but only had 2 dice, red pepper was fresh and cheese was fresh. The black beans took over the bowl, they were from a can and they were dry and pasty. And last but not least, the tostada (fried tortilla) was from a store bought bag and it was stale. Eating the meal was a struggle. I didnt finish the beans and tostada, its only making me dehydrated. Americano cafe was good. I left still hungry. Again this is for the lluevo ranchero meal.
Great food, snobby service. Business that was here before had better food and kinder service...
Love this place!! Been our neighborhood spot for the past year! They have taken great care of us all throughout all of covid. Coffees amazing and service is on point!!
Quite unique! Try their Breakfast Burrito.
The best French Toast I have ever eaten in my life!
The best food ever.
One of our favorite neighborhood, casual brunch spots. Food is delicious, staff is very friendly. Great outdoor seating right on Montan Ave. All of our friends that are local love this spot.
Fantastic service and excellent drip coffee. Try it with a pinch of sea salt
Cute little spot. I only had a pastry, but it was so good that I wanted to leave a review!
Best Bkfst Burrito ever!!!!
OK SO. Lets start off with location: You will have to look for parking on the street so take that as you wish. The place has a couple of tables outside where one can choose to sit. The wait time was not long for us.Service: Everyone was nice and patient, it being our first time. You order like at any other cafe and they actually bring the food to you.Food: The food itself was great. I mean, the plants and veggies, eggs, all fresh and nicely cut. The drinks are great as well. Defintely 5of 5.Price? This is where it gets me because about $20 for a chicken bowl?lol naw.I mean, to be fair it is in the side of town where everything seems a little pricey.Would i return? Yes, I would, the drinks are prob myfavorite part. However, not somewhere I am totally running to return to . Make sense? Defintely check them out for yourself. The food is great. and they allow pets. Then follow our travel vlogs on instagram @thehungrynomadz
Love the avocado toast with truffle oil 😋
The food was superb, the staff pleasantly attentive and knowledgeable.
Very good and worth it. Nice spot. Make sure you say hello to Gio, he’s a good soul 🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤙🏽🤙🏽
I love it thank you
Great food and drinks. Kind and helpful staff. Lots of outdoor seating.
The food and coffee was good, but the service was one of the most terrible one I had ever experienced. After waiting for around 1.5 hours and receiving just half of the order, I was told that they are out of stock !!!! And in response to my question why they didnt tell us earlier while I was asking several times, very rudely replied without any apology. And in reply to where was your manager, I was told that there was no manager.
Nice matcha rose👌
Staff was so kind and attentive. Food came really fast and was INCREDIBLE! A new favorite for sure.
Nice outdoor sitting. Friendly staff. The food is great. They offer gluten free products. Little pricey for certain items even for that area.
Had a really nice brunch and coffee. Too bad their WiFi wasnt working as my girlfriend needed to do some work ...
Impressively overpriced given the quality of food and drink.... but it’s a nice looking place in a good location. And it hits all the hipster highlights with Rose croissants and vegan donuts etc etc.
$5 for 8 oz coffee? Really?Nitro cold brew is not nitro, just a weak brew of coffee. I never thought Id prefer Starbucks to anything, but its definitely better than this place.Avocado toast and one poached = $17? Toast was croutons and less than a quarter of an avocado. 😱
Bardonna make the BEST vegan breakfast burrito. My favorite of all time.
Amazing vegan breakfast burrito. Mix hot sauce with the garlic sauce it comes with 🤙🏼
My new favorite spot! Good vibes, better coffee. Live the layout with multiple farm tables to work at or read on a cloudy day.
We usually dine here on Sundays, love sitting outside. Sometimes they even have live music. The food is superb and all the coffee drinks are amazing. Excellent quality!!!! Look forward to next Sunday.
Its a great place, great food, great drinks. Its amazing its as good as it is with such a sub par unorganized staff. Everything always takes way longer than it should, Im watching them kind of lazily figure things out. Not quick thinkers or fast movers. Kitchen crew is great however. Its a good option if you have a ton of patience and no place to be fast. Product is top notch however.
The quality of their ingredients is incredible. The space isnt very big so seating is limited, but even on a Saturday morning, I didnt wait long for a table to open up. The service is lacking a bit. I had to ask for some things a few times, though I was understanding because there were a lot of people there.
I was impressed. $5 perfect breakfast order. Every element was perfect: biscuit, egg, cheese, sauce (just a little), greens, dressing. I took it slow.¶ Then I tasted their excellent coffee but ordered an espresso macchiado. (There is a back room with outlets under the big table.)
I love to go here for a quick snack, or to sit outside on a lovely afternoon. The food is really tasty, and they have a variety of interesting drinks. If they carried luxxe coffee they would be the ultimate experience. ;)
Super disappointed despite its high rating. There was a heavy smell of toilet inside, staff was not friendly and the food was mediocre. The only good thing is they have tables outside.
I’ve eaten here twice and received great service and food. I once ordered the same meal via Postmates though and felt disappointed. Maybe it was a fluke, but I’d hope the takeout food is created with the same care as on property.
Super cute and innovative coffee place with my favorite matcha latte. also love their gluten free and vegan sweets as well as meals. staff is very friendly and welcoming. wifi works well and i never had an issue.
I tried the Poors man breakfast and breakfast burrito. They tasted great. The burrito had very strong onion flavor, strong uncooked onion, I dont like raw onion so I didnt enjoy it too much. The Poors man breakfast was very tasty and delicious, eggs bacon and hash browns perfect breakfast combo. Ill comeback to try the rest.
Oula very not tasty though very expansive.. at least not for french people.
High quality, delicious, and consistent. One of my favorite local spots!
Great local coffee shop with an awesome selection of real food to go with the beverages. I personally recommend the vegan burrito, its one of the best in town.
Love this place. Great coffee fast service good outdoor seating and parking. No riff raff either
Good coffee and chill vibe. Coffee was better when they served Groundworks but still very good blend.
I loved the coffee here. And now I even like it better as they added these beautiful big umbrellas, a great place to sit outside, a long wonderful wood community table and other tables inside, plus food. They are always nice when I go in.
Came in to just grab a coffee and hang out for a few, the latte I had was great and theres plenty of seating indoors and out. Its a great spot on Montana to relax and enjoy some espresso.
Food is great. Nice staff.
Nice chill atmosphere, cute chic spot for good american/Californian breakfast. Prices are alright 10 to 15 a dish. Coffee was good and the btla was fuego. Id come back again.
The coffee is good and the quality of food is pretty good. However, the portions can be slightly under sized. However, I did come here after a hike so my appetite may have been a little larger than normal.
Tasty food and good coffee. Prices are bit steep, but you get what you pay for. As a bonus, this was the only place around that was open so early I as arrived well before dawn.
Super slow service. Bad food not worth the wait. Way overpriced even for Santa Monica & Brentwood. Good outdoor seating & that’s about it. I miss the old ownership.
Amazing coffee. Ive had their lattes and regular coffee and they know what theyre up to! They are also one of the only places that test for micotoxins in theyre coffee beans for those with sensitive stomachs. Their food is also very tasty although i was disappointed by the amount of vegan selection. Gourmet coffee places usually cater a little better to vegan crowd with their baked goods. They are always busy and the chairs arent too comfy for extended stays.
The first time I tried this place, my friend and I ordered a tostada bowl topped with black beans, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and maybe feta cheese. We loved it! Returned for brunch and ordered the same dish on a few separate occasions, with some awesome beverages,,still delicious. A new favorite dish..yaay!, We tried something else similar, but it wasnt as good. Also on our first visit, we had been offered samples of the most delicious desserts that we were told would be added to the menu, they were a (piece of pie in a cup) concept. They were the best desserts ever!! Fresh, delicious, fruits, cream fillings, different varieties of cake breads and crusts, and not too sweet at all. My friend and I were telling everyone about these new desserts Groundwork was going to offer on the menu, but when we returned, were told they will not be carrying them after all, Bummer!!! Please leave the most delicious items on the menu!! The other baked items Ive tried are good, just not as.
Good coffee, fresh ingredients, cool vibes. Would have given five stars if the service was a bit more professional.
“B” health rating on door. Service stinks. Attitudes stink. Food is now not as good as it used to be. Place has gone down hill since last year. Bummer.
I think of this as more of a coffee place than anything else. They can serve up some solid caffeinated beverages.Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Very nice place to chill and have a coffee and a bite. the food and coffee are good
Everyone knows this place is great. Its an amazing coffee shop but it is very expensive, more than Starbucks! I am hoping now that their not groundworks their prices can drop so I can start going more.
Great friendly atmosphere and the menu keeps me in alignment with low carb diet. Love it!
My first visit here did not go well, I wouldve not returned had it not been for joining friends. The second time was actually worse than the first. Great location horrible food!!!!
Nice place and good coffee.
Great place creative drinks and good seating
Food was good, but holy hell their juice is way too expensive! I got apple ($6 base cost), kale (+$2), and ginger (+$2) which totalled $10. Ludicrous.
I had the tumeric latte, and it was very good... perfectly sweetened with cinnamon dusted on top. The drip coffee is to be expected, good. The food is very good, especially the huevos ranchero... But expensive. I really enjoy the atmosphere and will definitely be back.
Great Truffle oil Avo toast and salads. Vegan donuts and healthy fare. Delicious coffee and CBD Superfood concoctions. Im vegan so wish it was.all vegan but it has a lot of great fresh options!
Some nice stuff but I miss when this place had the cool pastries
I love the lucy picture behind the bar but it did seem a bit boring in there, not my thang but i like the concept and the girl who helped me was very polite and service was great.
Gluten free muffin, really good cortado
Great food, great drinks, great location, excellent service!
Unique vibe and amazing selection! Always fresh and delicious.
I had an cashew milk cappuccino. Probably the best cappuccino I have ever had, creamy, smooth and delicious. I must go back!
Loved the breakfast and coffee. Nice and welcoming.
Good mixture of coffee and breakfast food, with indoor and outdoor seating.
Amazing place and amazing service!! 👍
Great coffee. Good food. Have a wide variety on the menu.
Super fresh ingredients, with strong flavors that bring out all of the natural qualities. I had the BTLA, and fell in love with the juciness of the bacon and creaminess of the avocado slices.
While the people taking the orders seem very nice, the Americano I got was pretty terrible, really watered down. I actually get a much more flavorful and robust cup of coffee at CBTL. This place is way too high concept for its own good, needs more soulfulness.
