I purchased a 2021 Crosstrek Sport and had a GREAT experience working with salesman Ralph Hernandez. I had my name in at two other dealerships on the same car. Needless to say, Ralph won me over immediately. He was honest, respectful, knowledgeable, kind and quick to return my calls and emails. You name it, he nailed it. As a woman I have often been looked over and had everything directed to my husband. Ralph did nothing of the sort. He respected me. He has followed up with me, making sure everything is going well. We look forward to working with him through our lease experience and who knows…maybe on our next Subaru!!!!
I made an appointment to bring in my car for a factory recall fix. I was initially told that the fix would be 2-3 hours so I decided not to shuttle home. At hour three I asked the guy who did the paperwork if he had any updates. He said in a text forgot about lunch,still working on it, Id say about another hour. If they eat lunch every day would it not make sense to factor that into how long you are going to have to wait? Such bad customer service. I had a horrible experience here when I was trying to buy a subaru and the service dept. was just as disappointing. Drive to the San Rafael dealership....its worth the time as they seem to be more upfront and professional. I will never, ever come back to this dealership again. Oh and got into my car and they didnt even finish putting all the components back on.
I’ve gone a handful of times to have my car serviced here and each time there’s an issue. It’s usually small like the gentleman who check me in was beyond rude or condescending, they leave trash in my car, leave sticky stickers that won’t easy come off in my car. This last time, though Hansel Subaru not only left trash in my car, but did not turn off a dashboard light that had come on and did not wash my car as I had asked. The bigger issue is that they were not apologetic or quick to fix the issues they had left me with. I’m not paying an outrageous amount of money for a car service for the company to do not do an overall fantastic job.
On a road trip to see family. Had battery issues with my 2021 Outback. I was able to get an appointment with Hansel Subaru. They even called me after I set it up online and offered me a earlier appointment. Jay help me out in the service area. He was up front about everything and took care of my needs. It took them a couple of hours to figure out my issue and got me back on the road. Would come here again if I lived in the area.
Went in for a scheduled test drive, A very nice young man brought the car my husband wanted to drive out and away we went. I felt the financial guy was very pleasant too. He drove away in his new car that day. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

We got the Vehicle, Color and Price we wanted, and have become lifetime customers. We will probably never own another family vehicle except for a Subaru after this AMAZING experience.
My family and I drove 1.5 hours to come to Hansel Subaru. That alone was exhausting haha. If you’ve ever bought a car you know the experience can be, grueling. From literally every step, picking one, test driving and leaving the lot with it Richard, Scott and everyone at Hansel Subaru made our experience absolutely painless. They worked with our challenged credit, gave us tips on how to use our new car to improve it and made sure we where driving away in the safest vehicle for our family. Absolutely stellar service. We were approached by Andre who originally was trying to find the owner of some left behind homework. That is the kind of customer service we like to reward. We didnt purchase that day but called over the next few days and Andre answered our questions with the seemingly endless amounts of knowledge he has about anything Subaru including the features and how tos right off the cuff. We ended up going back down and were treated really well by the entire team, Regina and Jerry directly. Made an appointment to have roof rack and cargo container put on brand new crosstrek. I was told it would take 20min. I have been sitting here for two hours and they still arent done.
I had always kinda felt the service at the Hansel Subaru Service Dept was just kinda so so. That all changed this past May when I had our 2015 Outback in for an (unexpected) major repair.Adam our service advisor was great. I reallyappreciate how well he communicated with me. He kept me completely in the loop. The car was ready when promised. Im telling you now that if you work with Adam you wont be disappointed.
I have a 2008 outback. they charge me $5k for the gasket, and on the outside they charge me $800 🤔, dont roast overthe them
Don’t ever buy a vehicle from Hansel, worst experience, my 89 year old Aunt wanted a new car with GPS. He told us this car had everything, she bought it the next day when we came back so he could show her how everything works, he said it doesn’t have GPS, but she could use her phone!! Seriously she’s 89! The finance guy wouldn’t let up on trying to add extras, definitely a hard sales place, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone!!

The service is horrible and Im unhappy for their mistake that almost cost the life of my family they didnt check the hood of my vehicle and while I was driving it pop open carrying my family with me. For their stupid mistake we could have a terrible accident lucky everyone is okay. Please dont trust them always double check their work and make sure they assemble your vehicle properly I learned that by experience.
The review below was what originally happened. However the next day after I posted this the service manager called me. He understood my concerns and felt other options should of been presented. To make it right he is going to fill my gas tank..Thank you sir I appreciate the response.. Had to have the fuel pump recall done. Wasnt aware they had to drain about 3/4 of gas to do it. Was upset when I realized that happened. Left a message expressing my concerns. Didnt here back by 1030 next day,so I called. The gentleman did explain and that a letter was sent out explaining. Alright I get it, but I have a Subaru dealership as a customer further north. Told the guy I deal with there the situation, they filled my tank and apologized for any inconvenience. That was a class act move. All else with the Santa Rosa dealer has been too notch, they slipped on this one.
I had a great experience buying my car from Hansel Subaru. My salesman was Andre Estournes. I visited Hansel and worked with Andre three times. For test driving, ordering an Impreza in December 2016, and completing the purchase in February 2017.It’s a 52 mile drive for me to get to Santa Rosa. But I chose to work with them for a number of reasons. The salespeople both this time, and in previous years where I only did test drives, were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Also, if I asked questions they couldn’t answer immediately, they would do the follow up. They made the experience great, and that’s why I spent the extra time driving up there to reward them with the sale.This is in stark contrast to the three dealers I stopped in on closer to where i live. In one instance, there were not enough employees around and there was no one to take me on a test drive—one guy telling me he was too busy working on a spreadsheet. In other cases, I went on test drives with salesmen who were unenthusiastic, ill-informed, and not particularly polite. I asked a number of questions for which they didn’t have answers or gave me incorrect information.One unique part of the Hansel Subaru experience: it only took five or ten minutes most to negotiate the price of the car. I’ve done this a number of times elsewhere in the past and it was excruciating. The process at Hansel was a breeze. They are also very good at following up with phone calls and email.So, I highly recommend Hansel Subaru next time you need a car, even if it’s out of your way.

I went to Hansel Subaru and had a bad experience. The woman who helped me took selling a car to the extreme. I liked the vehicle I test drove but I was not prepared to buy the car that day but she could not seem to take no for an answer. She took a couple of personal phone calls when was she was helping me. She tapped her fingers on the desk while I was thinking about the costs and options and telling me what a good deal I was being offered. I was promised a price for my trade in and I found out later she could not guarantee that price. I understand it is her job to sell a car but I did not feel my decision was being heard or respected. By the time I left there, I was unimpressed with the lack of professionalism and the insane amount of pressure so there was no way I would buy a car from this woman or the dealership. Another vehicle in my household will probably be replaced in a year or two and we will not be stopping at Hansel Subaru.

Wow! Best car buying experience by far! I just purchased a 2020 Subaru Forester Sport. Vern was my salesmen and I’m so happy he was! Not pushy at all and very informative and transparent. I had done a ton of research prior to going and test driving and buying the car so I was going in thinking that I knew it all but Vern shared even more information with me and even did demonstrations on how the eyesight works on the vehicle. NOT ONLY did Vern tell me about all the cool things in the vehicle, he was even more accommodating in that I had an appointment midday so as I was at my appointment, he made sure all my paperwork was done by the time I got back so there was no long wait at the dealer. As promised, all paperwork was good to go when I got back to the dealer and I then met with Jud. Jud was the finance manager and also delivered a seamless experience! I was out of there in 30 minutes and all paperwork and discussed numbers were exact on paper. Overall, GREAT experience!! And to top it off I LOVE my car! Thanks you guys!I’d also like to mention that every other Subaru employee that I had encountered that day were also very nice and inviting! That made the experience even better. I will definitely recommend more friends and family to this dealership.

Purchased a 2001 outback from a private seller. Brought it in to get it checked out. From drop off to payout, dealt with one person. Nick was great to work with. Kept me abreast of what was going on with my vehicle the whole way.Theres nothing worse than finding out something came up outside of what was discussed at drop off when you come in to pay your bill. There was none of that with Nick/Hansel.June 29, 2018 Update.Revisit for ac issue and smog cert.I hate going to the dr. Im not all that excited about taking my car to one. But cars have trouble sometimes.With the sunset months upon us s hanging issue with my ac became less of a ah yeah its always done that situation and more of an important fix this right away thing. Figured as long as I was here Id see if it passed smog too.I had to reschedule several times for a variety of reasons not all the responsibility of one side or the other... but when its its on them, hansel makes it right. I kept getting screwed out of my loaner vehicle due to late returns (but customers) hansel said: when you come in Friday youll have one we promise.I arrived to drop my vehicle off... no cars. So hansel called a rental company and rented me a car on their dime. They promised me a vehicle, I got a vehicleThats how it is here. They say it will be this way its that wayIf you own a subaru and need work done. Bring it to hansel Santa Rosa... even if you didnt buy it here... this is where you want it serviced... not because they know more about the engine or their techs are wizards... but because of how youre treated. Ive been in customer care a long time... this is how you do it.Any problem, ask for Nick.
I bought 2020 Forster, the appearance is very attractive, the driving experience was good, but the mpg was not as effective as it claimed (28/33 city/freeway), I only got 25.4 on average.Also, my vehicle was not installed the anti-theft device. I didn’t know this until I requested the dealer to uninstall, the sales and the manager seemed not knowing this beforehand. Make sure your car is installed with the device before you decide to buy the service.The finance manager gave me some pressure when we discussed the service. He seems upset and angry when I decided not to buy. But because I’m in a hurry to obtain a new car I just signed the contract.Overall I like the car, but the service was not as professional as I expect.
Good auto body work isn’t cheap. I just wanted to get that out of the way first. Hansel did a first-class and honestly excellent job on my Subaru. The estimate was accurate and I was kept informed about the progress of my car throughout the process. Lilly, one of their chief estimators, was terrific. She was on top of the job from start to finish. If I ever need auto body work again, regardless of the make of the car, I won’t hesitate to use Hansel again.
The best car buying experience weve ever had. We were looking for a Forester, and were pleasantly surprised that they had several slightly-used 2018s on the lot. The one we bought had more options than we thought we could get in our price range. Andre was great, the most knowledgeable car salesperson weve ever dealt with. He gave us all the time and attention we needed (on 2 visits), but with absolutely no pressure. Check the prices on their website, they are a little lower than the sticker prices at the lot - but just dont expect to get them much lower.
Customer service is outstanding. Service was easy to schedule and completed in time stated. I feel work that is completed it thorough and guaranteed. When I have had issues or needed clarity on provided services explanation is made clear in respectful manner.
I stopped going here for service a few years ago because it was so bad. I had to go back here for service and really didnt want to. However, they were helpful, quick, organized. I was happy with my experience. The service department has really turned around!

Just had a much needed oil change at Hansel Subaru in Santa Rosa. Was VERY pleased with their response to Covid protocols. Social distancing observed, lucite panels between Service Checker-inners and the public, latex gloves and lots of sanitizer for customers, etc. I really appreciate these extra precautions.As usual - service was excellent. I’d give then an11 on a scale of 1-10!

We had a great experience with Handel Subaru. Khalid our salesman was very naturally friendly and not pushy whatsoever. The underwriting process and loan signing did take quite a while but we were there at the end of their day so we werent impatient at all. In fact we felt bad for keeping them late, but everyone was extremely pleasant about it.
They have friendly and efficient service. My only issue was that I felt a bit like they were trying to push me too hard to buy one of their cars at only a small discount. I ended up buying from Marin Subaru. They were much nicer.
Three years ago I tried buying a car here from Corey. I called him and left him voicemails 4 days in a row and never heard back from him, even though we had agreed on a price. I was dumbfounded, and leased my 2017 Outback from Marin Subaru. I should have written a bad review at the time but forgot. Then yesterday I had the following HORRIBLE experience at this dealership. Take your business else where - you will be treated better at either Marin Subaru or Napa Subaru.I had a very disappointing experience at this dealership yesterday. They tried using a bait and switch sales tactic to get me to drive an hour to them even though I was incredibly clear about numbers in advance of making the drive.Typical salesmen garbage. Even though I was as clear as possible on the phone, we were looking at upwards of a $4500 difference by the time I arrived. I also sadly waited an hour for this information as my sales guy was trying to make a separate sale (I thought we had an appointment).Paul, the manager, was so condescending I could not wait to write this review. He actually laughed at me and smirked when I told them they had wasted three hours of my day.
Hansel Subaru has the wrong email address. Everytime they have sent an email for Derek, I have called and let them know they have the wrong email address. 7 emails later within 1 month period, they still have not corrected the situation. For this reason I am posting 1 star for this company, because they have not taken care of this issue even though they said they will fix it.

I came in for a pre-paid maintenance and left with a dirty engine filter because it was not on my maintenance contract until the next visit. It didnt really hit me until I got home to Petaluma. I cant believe the service guy didnt bother to call me over and ask if I wanted that replaced. I would have gladly paid for it. Instead, I was fuming when I got home. My son had me order one from Amazon and he replaced it for me.This was not good customer service. I will be more alert next time.

Extremely unhelpful service department. Tried to make a afternoon appointment for service and was told there is nothing after 2:30. I’m sorry but how is any working adult with a job suppose to be able to do that? Even weeks out I was told I could not be helped. Something about these dealerships it’s like you can’t give them your money if you tried.

Went to Hansel Subaru to look at vehicles for my daughter- her first car. She had her mind set on an Outback but when she got in, it wasnt the feel or fit she had hoped. She is over 510 and has a long torso. She tried the Forester without much difference. Corey, our awesome salesman, directed us to a Forester XT which has even more head clearance- she got in and she had a big smile as she said- this is it! Lots of head room, leg room, and great visibility. Corey made the whole transaction so simple and easy. No stress- which is rare when purchasing a car. Thank you so much to the entire Hansel team- and Tony the General Sales Manager, for such a smooth transaction and experience.
My husband and I had a great experience with Malcolm and the car-buying process. We never felt pressured or overwhelmed. Malcolm was informative and really listened to us, recognizing our different driving styles/needs and accommodating appropriately. The financing process took a little longer than expected (we are antsy to drive away in our new car!), but overall very positive experience.
We were treated with great cordiality by Barbara Lee who expedited the purchase of our Outback, taking lots of time to explain all the features. Transactions proceeded smoothly though could have been a bit more efficient to minimize time in the office. However, all personnel were pleasant. Comfortable showroom.
Great employees. Same pushy sales as anywhere else, but a really nice group of people.W/ bad credit, there were a few things that I feel could have been handled more professionally, hence 3/5 star rating. They couldnt find financing for me, but I found my own financing through a well-known, local credit union. IMO, they should have been able to find it through them no problem.
So I’m 20, I got helps by Sebastian, he’s also someone young a little older then me, so I came in looking for a Subaru wrx but I don’t know how to drive stick and it’s hard trynna find a car that’s automatic, he ended up showing me a crystal white Subaru Impreza sport and I reallu hate white cars but the car itself is really nice, I like the fact the car is long, the sun roof, how it gets 30+ miles per gallon, I currently added just a modified muffler from eBay that I paid 24 something for it and the car sounds loud, and nice, it does grab attentions which I like, I like better when it’s from the cops though, I’m just thinking Ight pull me over I dare u and it never happeneds

Its been almost two decades since I last purchased a car. I wasnt sure what to expect but Corey made it a great experience. I appreciated that he didnt try to talk me into buying a car. I had already decided on that. What he did was help me make a decision that I am very happy with! And he was very kind and respectful of my 8 year old who could have been bored with the process. I recently brought my car in for a factory airbag recall. The service department was very busy (due to the recall) but my advisor, Johnny, was incredibly friendly and helpful. He took the time to explain everything and make sure all my needs were met.
I went on their website and saw a truck they had and went in to see it in person. Davis helped me out through the entire process. Hands down easiest and mostly relaxed car purchasing environment!
Excellent! Paul was a great help. We never felt any pressure to purchase and felt so comfortable with the dealership. We ended up purchasing our new Subaru Crosstrek because Paul took the time with us to go through our options and make owning a new car a reality for us.We even purchased the oil change warranty package because we trusted the company so much. I love my car. Love it. However, i hate having to go to this dealership. Whatever it is, it always takes longer than they say and their system seems confused. Most recently i went in for an oil change, left with a friend to shop while i waited, the dealership CALLED ME and told me my car was ready, but when i arrived to pick it up, it was not. I had to wait 45min more, despite what i was told over the phone! Im not what they are doing, Im not sure they know what they are doing.
Big organization, so lots of choices, but also lots of cracks. Bought the new 2019 Forrester from them. Lots of miscommunications on the ordering process and when the car finally did come in a few of the accessories I wanted were missing. fortunately for me and this review they gave me an excellent price on the car because of all the confusion and mistakes. Overall given four stars for making up where they went wrong
We had a great experience at Hansel Subaru. Our saleperson was Mike Olson. We walked in to test drive only, because we had limited time that day. We were so impressed with the Outback that we quickly moved from the test driving mode to the buying mode. Throughout the entire process Mike remained respectful of our time limitations while explaining and demonstrating all the features of the Outback we had our eye on. He was a pleasure to work with. When it came time to write the check and sign the papers Jerry Stockdale was friendly and efficient in explaining the warranties and service agreements. At no time did we feel pressured or like we were being “handled” in any way. And we’ve got a great car, too! I highly recommend Hansel Subaru.

The purchasing experience is good, especially if you start with the Internet manager and then take your price into the dealer. The aftermath of service contracts, extended warranty and the paper work is a bit sluggish, but pretty typical. On the flip side, the repair/service department is very disorganized. Im used to driving customer experiences through digital solutions. Having repaired our 2011 Outback there twice, the experience stinks.
I love my car but absolutely dread having to deal with the dealership. They dont let us know when our car is ready (several times) and then act like we should have psychically know it was done. Ripped my back seat when the car was detailed. Horrible communication in general.
I switched my maintenance for my 2017 Outback after another dealership failed to find a problem when the car was a few months old that caused an accident. A friend recommended Hansel and every experience has been perfect. If they say its going to take 90 minutes, youve got the car (washed!) in 90 minutes. I think its very telling that the same maintenance advisors are working there. The employees seem happy and the quality of their work shows it.
Andre was super knowledgeable and willing to help the customer with whatever. Appreciate his help and will send anyone his way for business.
