Had some old gold jewelry and coins collecting dust so I looked online for a reputable shop where I could sell (didn’t want a pawn shop) and came upon this place. To a good extent, having a collection of coins appraised and evaluated is a blind item for most of us.. particularly if the collection is a bit of a hodge-podge from the mundane to the potentially valuable... as well as of sentimental value because of its passage through the family. The folks at PGS were welcoming, forthright in their representation of what they could... and not could not... appropriately provide us... and clear in describing each of step of their process as moved through the steps right in front of us. They engendered trust by their demeanor, expression of knowledge, avoidance of jargon, and ease with answering questions. Nothing they noted in reviewing the collection of lots & lots of coins of varying ages, denominations, and conditions was inconsistent with the amateurs homework we had done for ourselves. We selected PGS because of previous reviews and commentaries and pass our experience on to reinforce the endorsements. If we were to hear otherwise about PGS in the future, it would be a huge surprise.

My sister and I took my grandpas coin collection to be evaluated and possibly sell. I did my homework and logged every coin and looked them up myself. This was a fairly extensive collection. I knew about what I expected to get. I am not experienced at all. We met in the shop and she went through the collection. Anything that was about Face Value she told me that up front. She was knowledgeable and ver informative and took her time. At the end of the day she offered us exactly what I thought. I was extremely happy. I feel bad that I forgot her name, but we went to the Schaumburg location. I would recommend them to anyone. You have to go in understanding they are in business and they have to make a profit too, so you need to expect that they can’t pay what you would get if you sold it yourself, but they are extremely fair and save you the time and work of selling yourself. Visited from out of town and they were very pleasant and nice in person. Helped me at both store locations I stopped in. Spent over $500 worth of stuff between their stores in two days. I called back the next week -2 times to try to get some more of a specific bar and was told they would call me back each time. They never did call back. Finally I called the 3rd and final time time, and the lady said they sold me the bars I was looking to get more of at the wrong price and I got them too cheap. They had more in stock and she would have to check and see what the correct price was and call me back. She never did called me back. So I have since given up on them. Found what I needed somewhere else.

I was here about a year ago. I sold a few silver dollars. I left feeling comfortable, and that I was given a fair deal. So, fast forward to the present. I discovered a small gold coin at the bottom of my wifes jewelry box. It was 1/3 the diameter of a dime. I borrowed a neighbors magnifying glass. With it, I could read Liberty, twenty dollar, and the year 1908. I went to the internet and learned the value was between $1300 and $1500. PGS was fair a year ago, so thats where I headed. Unfortunately, I didnt have the one ounce version of the coin. I had a very, very tiny replica of the coin. It was still gold, so they bought it. It was an exciting and enjoyable 90 minute journey when I believed I had stumbled upon a small fortune. In the end, it paid for an extra-large Papa Johns pizza with a couple bucks left over. Maybe next time.

Have purchased small amounts of silver in the past from this store, and today decided to test the waters of selling some gold. I went in and was paid less the what I initially invested in the 1st place even though gold has risen since my initial investment. I by no mean was expecting to get a huge payout but I also was not expecting to lose money. Initially I had a private buyer that wanted to buy from me and was willing to pay at spot but I was skeptical due to security issues so silly me I came here. I left the store contacted the initial persons that wanted to buy it met them at my local police station and sold what I had at spot. Long story short I won’t say these places are a rip off but they def bank on you being naive which I will one hundred percent admit was me in this case. I chalk it up as a learning experience but can’t emphasize enough do not expect a fair deal in a place like this, I got a fair deal by cutting out the middle man today and suggest you do the same. I will continue investing in gold in silver but I will never do business with this establishment again.

Very nice, but I was offered half the value for my coins that other shops were offering....Im talking about you low balling me by offerring 10 dollars for a 1921 morgan dollar... I was offered 17 and 18 at 2 other places.... You offered me 10 dollars for a 1917 dollar bill....I was offered 16 and 20 at 2 other places, You also offerred me 10 dollars for a 1957 proof set and I was offer 17 at 2 other places...Not to metion low balling me by 6 dollars on my peace dollars...I wasnt even talking about the incomplete pewter set I brought in...As far as myself bringing in 1 oz silver bars??? Ive never seen a silver bar in my lifetime...
