I loved the place . My first visit. The staff was very cool and patient in explaining stuffs, even though he was otherwise engaged in other store activities. Thats very admirable.Being new to this hobby he gave a very consice but informative narrative to the scale of the RC toys from RC Boats to RC Trucks .Definitely going back to buy one .

Ok Im new to this hobby so I legit have zero knowledge on these things. What batteries to get, What parts are better etc. So Im sure all of us sometimes feel intimidated by this so we dont even bother asking or entering. The guy there, very friendly answered me and gave me a quick explanation on what I was looking at. Answered all my random questions I threw at him. I love stores like this because it leaves you wanting to come back knowing your gonna get treated right and pointed to the right choice. Awesome service!!!

Awesome place to buy any RC cars, planes or boats. Manny was very helpful and very knowledgeable. We will be going back to buy more RC cars from Hobby Town in Schaumburg . They always have a great selection and if they dont have it in stock, They can get it.

Ran out here to pick up a new RC truck for my son. We knew exactly what we wanted but we’re running late. Locked the car and walked up with 5 min before close to get in and out. As we walked up the employee locked the door on us. I pulled the door, locked for sure. He just ignored us. What’s really disappointing is I went there to support a local business and felt like they just don’t appreciate their customers. So instead we went home and spent our 400.00 on Amazon. He will have his new RC Truck before I get home from work. Should have done that to begin with I guess since going there ended up wasting an hour of driving so an employee could leave 5 min earlier.

Customer service is always good. Selection is good. Prices are actually pretty good compared to other hobby shops. Ive never had any issues there and they also can do work on your rc. I liked that the staff is knowledgeable as well.

If I could give one star I would. I tried to call and ask for a specific chastity piece for an rc car, and she explained to me she unfortunately didn’t have them, so I asked another unrelated question if they had full kits and I got hung up on. I tried calling back and she claims the line went dead, so I then asked if they have full kits in general and her wonderful response was “what was my first response to you, I told you no.” Highly unprofessional, if she took the second to listen to what I was asking for, all I wanted to know was if they had rc cars in general. I’m not sure if this individual was having a bad day or what the case may be but I’ve never dealt with someone so rude in this location, not to mention she is the supposed to be the store owner, and not once did I get a name. Very scary to think how she would of reacted in person.

I called this store looking for a specific kit and was told that they may have it on their Wednesday delivery/shipment. I called the night before (Tuesday) and asked if I can put in on reserve and Im willing to put a down payment or even pay the whole thing. They told me that they DO NOT accept reservations. So Im like, sure Ill just press my luck and go there Wednesday to see if they have it. Sure enough they do have two kits, behind the cashier counter. Ive asked them if I can buy one of them, and they told me it was reserved for a customer. I told them I called the night before to reserve one and was told that I cannot do reservations. I was told that the owner reserved them for a customer. So Im not sure why the other customer can put it on hold and I cant. Maybe its a preferred customer. I dont know. I go to this store every once in a while to get supplies or whatnot but the last few times I was there, I was just extremely disappointed with my experience. I hope the owner fixes this and be more accommodating like the old owner Glen. Good luck to the owner and her staff.

DO NOT GO TO HOBBY TOWN IN SCHAUMBURG ILVery rude owner and they tried to scam our sons RC car repair. Upgraded parts and engine without telling us new battery and new charger was mandatory (made us think they were optional). Completely shady used car salesman tactics and awful customer service!!!! When I called to speak to the owner she said too bad and better get an attorney?!?! Seems like they have tried scamming people before!

Very rude an inconsiderate lady answered the phone. I asked about how long a repair would take and she said her technician were too busy for her to ask a simple, less than a minute question. She offered no alternatives like can I have someone to call you back or nothing. She needs a lesson in customer service. I will not consider them for future business and will advised all my friends and family to stay away as well. Judging by the number of bad reviews (over half are really bad), this place will be closed very soon.To the owner: Evidently, you have a mental problem or very childish because you trying to use that because Im a woman card. NO, its because you are rude and uncouth.

Bought a traxxas slash 4x4 for my grandson brand new in the box and the battery that came with it wouldn’t charge. Brought it back to the hobby shop with the receipt and was told they wouldn’t replace the battery that I had to buy a new one and that I had to call Traxxas. Bought a new for $20 which was pretty sad since the vehicle cost $200 and when I called Traxxas I was told they dont replace bad batteries. So if you buy anything here make sure it works before leaving, once you open it you can’t return your item. Horrible customer service and rude sales person.

This location has terrible customer service, and the employees all have bad attitudes. I tried to exchange a traxxas Tqi chip that was faulty, and instead of helping me out they just told me there was nothing they could do. Even though I had my receipt. After this experience I will never come here again. A waste of $40! Go to the St. Charles location, or even better Leisure Hours of Plainfield if you have the time.

Well I decided to start a hobby during this pandemic. So after work I decided to stop in. Started out great but ended bad experience. It was a toss up between me getting a rc car or plane. But as I was looking around nobody was willing to help me. I walked round and round. Nobody acknowledged me. Smdh. So I just bought a model car instead and even then the help wasnt helpful. The guy rushed me to purchase. Well Im glad I didnt spend the 700 dollars there that I wanted. After I was told by a friend the guys would help me out. Thats a joke.

One star is too many!!!! I am actually boycotting all Hobby town stores.Recently while on a short vacation getaway I searched for a Hobbytown nearby as I was planning on starting a new hobby with RC cars. The nearest location was in Evansville Indiana. Took a two hour drive and purchased a new RC car. Having no knowledge of RC cars etc I asked the salesman if I was buying the correct batteries and charger for the new car I was purchasing. I was told yes! I Brought the items home which was 7 hours away and come to find that I was sold incompatable batteries and charger!!! How aggravating!! NOW regarding the Schaumburg store...I brought the two batteries and charger to their store to rectify the mistake made in Indiana. When I got there I was told that the products were incompatible and that they do not carry the same products. Now one would think that the two franchises would carry the same products but NOOOOO. They wanted to sell me different batteries and chargers. While being extremely aggravated at the service recieved by both stores I was told by the Schaumburg store owner I should not be angry because people make mistakes! My reply was that this was a great inconvenience as the Indiana store is more than 350 miles from Schaumburg!!. The owner shrugged her shoulders and said she could not do anything else as they are all independent franchises. Now, I have a $150.00 gift card that I received for x mas that I am sure she would have accepted! Needless to say I will be contacting corporate offices about both locations and will NEVER go to a Hobby Town again! The help was not that great after purchasing a brand new 1/10th scale truck (not cheap). When asking a question over the phone I was very rudely told I am that I am stupid. The employees name was Manuel. Unacceptable behavior from any store would NOT recommend to anyone!

Ive been shopping at Hobbytown Schaumburg for a very long time. It has gone through 2 owners. The first one was great. But the second owner is even better. They get shipments of parts and core products every week. They work directly with distributors and manufacturers. They are affiliated with the Hobbytown in St.Charles, so if they dont have something in stock in Schaumburgand it is in stock in St. Charles. You have 2 options, you can have it held at St. Charles or they can bring it to the Schaumburg store next day (of course youd have to pre pay for it). Since the beginning of the lock down, Ive purchased 7 RC vehicles from the store. Sure, I could have bought the online and save a few bucks. Id rather spend my money with a brick and mortar store. But why?? Well its about the customer service. Summer the owner has always taken care of me and my family when we visit her store. Recently, I purchased a vehicle and it was missing a wheelie bar. Normally when something is missing, youre at the mercy of the manufacturer to send you the part missing. Since its was in the middle of the lock down I would have waited a long time for the part to be sent to me.. But Summer, instead replaced the whole vehicle on the spot. Her customer service is impeccable, she treats everyone with the utmost respect.

If no stars could be given, thats what Id do. Not only are these people extremely rude, the owner sold us an rc car that when removed from the box was broken. About an hour and a half after the purchase, we brought it back to exchange and they refused to do anything about it. They will never again get my buisness. I will make the hour plus drive to orland park to do my buisness

Go here with my husband alot. So many great things in this place. My husband took his old remote control car here and they did everything they could to fix it and they did it. They know there stuff. So if you have a hobby. Go here check them out show them some love.

Used to come here when it was under old ownership. Place was great. This was now the 2nd bad experience with the new owners. Needed something soldered and they cant do it becuase it wasnt purchased here, because we cant offer a warranty. you know how you make sure I wont buy anything from hobbytown in the future? Refuse to work on it. You know who will work on it, literally any other hobby store thats not a chain, and those stores will get my business.

Went in there excited to buy a rc car, bought a car but the kid d behind the counter wanted nothing to do with helping me, I bought the car I wanted anyway but only because I traveled 45 minutes to get there and avoid waiting purchasing online,

I went there to fix my RC car and right away an employee named Matt knew exactly what brand it was and knew what part was broken, unfortunately they didn’t have it but he told me what it was and I was able to find it online. He offered to fix it for me the next time I bring it in. I also asked a question about lights and he was very helpful and knowledgeable, he found a part online, and he offered to sodder it up for me when the part came in. Overall very nice people and very good prices, I had a great experience.

Friendly and nice people. My son needed some help in choosing the tools for his science project. Justin was so helpful in picking the right ones. He went a step ahead and helped my boy to understand how it works and I really appreciate his passion towards his job and kindness in helping the little boy. He got good appreciation in his school for the project. Very happy with the service and now Hobby Town is my son’s favorite place.

Don’t bother, have terrible inventory, almost every time I go they have to order parts for me . I can get them faster and easier online. Needed a Traxxas 4s battery, they said they didn’t have any but they had 3 packs of 2 batteries with charger. I asked them to pull a battery and replace it when order came in, they refused. Spent over 4000 in 1 year on rc toys, they just don’t value good customers. Got in my car and ordered from amazon in their parking lot.

I went there yesterday about 6 pm (they close at 7). I was looking for a few parts for a Tamiya Frog. The guy working there said they didnt have and have never had Tamiya parts and they cannot order them. My best bet was Ebay.I left and from my truck called the St. Charles store which is also owned by Summer. The kid I spoke to there said they could order some Tamiya and they do have Tamiya kits.I informed this young man of what had occurred and that it seemed off and told him to pass it up the chain to Summer.As for me, Ill order my items online and not waste the effort at Hobbytown USA Schaumburg.

DONT BOTHER. Lots of empty space during the holiday season. Looks like they have given up. The only department they seem to keep current is RC. I thought this was a franchise that had some sort of inventory requirements. Are you listening Corporate HQ ? During my 12 minutes there on the Saturday after black Friday I saw two potential sales just walk out after five minutes, so Im not the only one.

Every time I have gone in this store the staff acts as if they cant be bothered. The experience was soo off putting that I ultimately made a very large purchase with an online retailer. For me its all about customer service and this place had absolutely none. The only reason they are still open is because they are the only local rc shop nearby. If you absolutely can steer clear!

I come to this location often and the store is great! Summer and Justin are both super friendly and helpful. I primarily come for the gunpla and while the inventory at times can be lacking its simply due to how often people are buying there. Everytime they get new stock they always let me come behind the counter and check out whats new before they even put it out. Good employees, good service, and friendly people!

I went in to buy a $900 rc car and a $500 rc boat for my kids we got yelled at and kicked out was not a mask and rather a face covering. I guess I will order from their competitor online. Rude people all in there. As I was leaving the lady manager told me I am an ah..e for telling her I will write a bad review based on my experience. Mind you we have already been in store for 5 min then we got kicked out.

Coming here is a love/hate relationship cuz it usually means we broke 1 if our rc cars LOL. However, staff is always super helpful & will take time to take car apart to diagnose the problem. Our home away from home

I was trying to get my lil guy into rc cars but i didnt wanna buy anything to cheap cause if he ended up liking it which he did i would be spending twice the money. I read a review about this store that really bugged me cause as a black man myself i had a totally different enteraction with the staff at hobby town. They were busy with customers when i walked in the door. But as soon one of them was free they asked if i needed help with anything. I explained what i was doing and they gave me there suggestions. I was very pleased with the two trucks i bought and more importantly my son was happy. So i wanna thank hobbytown for helping me with everything. They will continue to get my business and i would recommend them to any and everyone one i know looking to get into rc.

I put a bad review for the old owners of the hobbytown Schaumburg. Im retracting that review for this one. Schaumburg hobbytown has a new owner. This lady knows how to run this business. Since her take over the customer service I received there has been very good. I hated the thought of going there because of their old owner and their customer service but let me tell you Ive hab nothing but good service the last 6 times Ive been in there. The associates was pleasant and most helpful. Nobodys perfect so 4 stars. If you havent been there since the old owner sold out make your way to the new hobbytown Schaumburg. Their good people.

Went in a couple weeks ago with a wild dagger truck that I know was old, looking for parts. They were completely uninterested in trying to find any solutions and just kept saying “nothing will fit, it’s old.” Then I got called a liar by Summer in a forum trying to find parts. Summer is a employee of hobby town and shouldn’t be. No wonder why small business are failing, they have people like these ruining(I mean “running”) their business. I’ll stick with amazon and eBay.

Had to go there 3 different times just for a battery! I told them I didnt know anything about rc trucks. They didnt tell me what I needed or anything useful! 100$ down the drain! Never going back there again.

The owner Glen is a very nice guy. A great place to pick up Gundam model kits! They offer prices lower than online stores most of the time for their kits. Regulars will find it beneficial to sign up for their rewards program that offers $5 off for every $100 you spend.

Just got off the phone with Justin, by far one of the nicest guys Ive ever talked to in the rc world. I had bought an arrma notorious yesterday and needed help with it and he went on and on about them. You can tell hes into this hobby and is willing to help you out!

It says right on the cashier counter in big letters the return policy. You buying something from this store is basically agreeing to that return policy. I dont know why people are complaining about it when it is literally displayed right in front of you before your purchase, in big letters. On a white piece of paper on a blue counter. This store and staff are great, get most of my supplies here and only resort to other stores when they dont have something I need but the owner is always willing to listen to recommendations. Been a happy customer since I bought my first gunpla here.

This store in my opinion is the perfect RC store. The costumer service is great, everyone knows what they are doing and helped me fix all my problems from my first airplane. After stopping by to ask if they could replace / install a brand new speed control and motor I already bought into my basically beand new rc car and driving over an hour to pick up my car from another hobby shop, the manager tells me they cant do the work since I didnt by the parts there. Oops, sorry. Thanks for wasting my time.

Great and quick service with rc cars and trucks.

Despite the fact that they dont quite carry the supplies I need (I always need the possibly non-existent items), they are always so helpful to me when I come in. There has never been a time that I wasnt pleasantly greeted, and there may have been one or two times that I wasnt helped right away (there are only so many associates to help everyone, so thats understandable), but usually I know what I want, and where it is. No big deal for me if Im not helped right away.Even though they sometimes dont have what I need, Hobby Town USA is definitely my go-to for those last-minute items, like CA Glue, Epoxy, and basing material. Its a good price for everything, so that allows me to not have to drive all the way out to another store for those same things.Again, the only downsides Ive ever had is that they dont have some of the more specialized items for modeling, but then again, Hobby Town isnt necessarily suited for modelers like myself. Still a great spot though for must-have items.

Recently under new management and drastically cut back on the Gundam selection. It seems like the prices are also raised, too, despite the jacked-up retail prices on the new labels. They have a decent selection of paints and overall would probably be a good place to get model train or RC supplies. For other Gunpla enthusiasts, though, its better to make the trek down to the HobbyTown USA in Orland Park.
