Nice place with good food. This was fairly busy but since we sat at the counter, we got a seat pretty fast. The service was prompt and fast and they need vaccination card hard or soft copy works. I took the spicy chicken sandwich with the soup of the day which was tomato soup. The soup was okay not too great and the sandwich was good. It had the right amount of kick. I really like their rosemary baked potatoes. It hit the right note and balance of flavor.
I stopped in one morning by myself as I was passing through Seattle. The service was prompt and attentive, and the food was excellent. I got the classic Benedict with avocado, and it was truly one of the best I’ve ever had. The rosemary potatoes on the side were crispy and delicious. I’ll be back next time I’m in Seattle.
It’s unfortunate to see how low this establishment has fallen since losing some of their best employees. Pre pandemic this was the one of the only restaurants I would suggest to others. Service since they have re opened is cold and harsh. Food is mediocre at best and takes forever to get to the tables. Service staff have no problem dehumanizing anyone who doesn’t appear to be affluent, and rather than tapping in and connecting with their local community they choose to antagonize them. It’s so disappointing to see this from a business that had been so celebrated in the past.
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here. I was with my 17 yo son. We were there for breakfast and we were sat at a table but had to move because there was a bar on site. I Ordered vegan hash with spinach, peppers and avocado but it came with the gross frozen veggie medley that I remember from childhood with Lima beans, carrots, peas, and beans. They did comp the meal but acted surprised when I said the meal was not represented correctly. Then we were handed the wrong check. Times are stressful and hard and hopefully this was just a fluke,
The food tasted pretty good but, no malt vinegar for the fish & chips? And the music is incredibly loud. The service was great, and polite.
Lost Lake has several vegan options! Ive tried their burrito and BLT so far. I love it here.Im vegan due to allergies, and have had no issues with cross contamination yet.
The condiment bar is awesome. Everything I would ever want to put on a hamburger is there, and a few things I wouldnt. I like having peppers on the side - no problem. I like lots of pickles on my burgers - no problem. Once in a while I like BBQ and mayo on a burger - no problem.
Had the breakfast burrito. Excellent with a nice soft tortilla. Very clean and classic breakfast diner experience. Ill be back
This place is awesome nostalgia, great food, great wait staff, and the drip coffee is unusually good. The corned beef hash is my fave, and I wouldnt hesitate to take anyone there!
Pre-COVID, I loved that you could order a milkshake at the bar at 2am. The menu is expansive enough to cover a wide range of late night or early morning cravings (as long as that doesn’t involve fresh veggies).
Great service (staff are super chill & helpful with food recommendations), cool outdoor covered space with gas fire warmers. The cheese curds were a great addition for a tasty appetizer (ask for maple syrup, it reminded me of fair food) along with the special chicken alfredo (Not salty, and maybe under seasoned, but a great dish and looked great! I love the broccoli addition *selling point for me).
Good breakfast menu, cooking it still needs a little work for consistency of quality.
We really enjoyed the food. It had great presentation and the flavors were an awesome combination. The service was a little on the slow side though. This this could be understood if they were busy, but this was a slow point so this is why I give one less star.
The food is amazing especially the buttermilk pancakes and yummy mashed potatoes. Sausage rocks! The French toast is exquisite. The ambience is cool. Wait staff are warm & friendly.Back again, during busy Sunday brunch time, on Father’s Day, nonetheless, and the wait staff is very friendly and attentive and the food is all you’ve ever wanted it to be. Can’t say how much this place makes me feel like home away from home.Returned here for lunch one lazy July Saturday. My meal: a perfectly grilled burger and a substitute of the delicious kale salad for fries. Worth every penny.
Fun atmosphere, yummy drinks, and delicious brunch foods! sat outside in one of their park benches but service was very disorganized and slow. might have been an off day. cute interior / decor! capital hill parking is always a nightmare though
Simple but high quality. A little pricey but food was good and filling. Service was great.
I have to say the food was great but the service was nothing shy of terrible. Firstly, when we arrived, the hostess didnt even greet us, but instead asked Do you have your vax cards? I was kind of caught off guard, but we didnt have our cards with us, so I responded, No and she abruptly said Then you can sit outside. The sign on the door only said that we had to show proof of vaccination status or recent negative covid test if we wanted to sit at the bar. It didnt say that we couldnt sit inside at all and she was very rude about it all, almost like we were some sort of diseased heathens. Then, she sat us down and we tried pulling up the menu using the QR code at the table and it wasnt working for any of our phones, so we asked for a copy of a paper menu. The hostess rudely sighed and responded with Ill see if I can find one. Her attitude towards us was just really uncalled for. Then, the service in general was pretty awful. We ordered drinks and waited about 20 minutes when the waitress finally came back and asked if we wanted anything to drink...? I guess she forgot our drinks entirely. Then after waiting another 20 minutes, we finally had drinks and ordered food. Once the food arrived, we asked for a refill on our fountain sodas and then the waitress was gone for about half an hour or more. Didnt check on us at any point to make sure the food was okay until we were pretty much done eating, which was unfortunate because the breakfast sandwich one of us ordered was missing sausage (it only had three ingredients total: sausage, egg, pancake). When she finally came back to check on us, we had to ask for refills again and told her about the missing sausage. She came back with the check after another chunk of time had passed, still no refill, still no sausage and the check wasnt split like we had asked. I would be totally understanding if the restaurant was super busy or she was handling a lot of tables but that wasnt the case. It was frustrating to have to remind her several times about things and still barely get what we ordered. Again, the food was good and we enjoyed it, but it was an absolute pain to get anything at all when we needed it.
Lost Lake was great. Awesome, personable service, and the food was delicious. Drinks were super good. We had outdoor seating, and it was covered and in a nice space and not just crammed on the sidewalk, which was a relief. Also, very reasonable prices for the hill. Will definitely go again.
Do not order delivery from these guys, they forget parts of meals all the time. For example, I have yet to have bacon Ive ordered with meals to ever get here! They dont double check, but at least you can get refunded easily through Doordash...
Like an amusement park, its overpriced for mediocre food. Just had the chicken strips so I cant say anything about the other meals, but they were dry. Loved the amount of fries though. The service on the otherhand was rough. Got checked on once, and the person who delivered the food all but threw it on the table, and disappeared. They also turned the music up randomly in the middle of a song so that I could not have a conversation with my partner anymore. Had to sit next to each other to hear each other. Wont be going back.
It’s good solid food. It’s nothing too special, but they have the best sausage gravy in town. Be careful on ordering via delivery apps, sometimes the order isn’t right.
I’ve never put a bad review but I don’t know I ordered a veggie Ruben and it didn’t have the zucchini or the sauerkraut which are the main ingredients so I just paid quite a lot for two pieces of bread, a slice of cheese n a small bit of oiled veggies with tater tots too greasy too eat.... if you are out of the main ingredients... just don’t make it... The wait staff and environment seemed pleasant but this was only a to-go order. I did call in confusion, but the waitress didn’t understand because meat eater. She definitely needs more communication from the cooks. Anyways, just one of those Im only reviewing because I’m disappointed reviews
Love their breakfast - tasty and decently priced!
My boyfriends meal was very good, my biscuits were kinda hard but everything else was solid!
Bacon was too crisp.Rye toast has an odd greasy tasteHash brown and eggs were good.
Visiting Seattle from the Midwest and this place was suggested by a friend who lives here. The food was outstanding, great diner breakfast. The service was good and coffee was strong. The only downside is that the food took a little over 30 minutes to come out. If timing had been a bit faster we would have rated it a 5 star- we will definitely be back.
The brunch food and service were great! The restaurant has a fun vibe. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and I like that you have to use a QR code at the table to pull up the menu on your phone. Would recommend for brunch!
Seating was quick, but took a while to get a drink and food order in. We sat at the bar. I ordered the chicken fried steak for breakfast and it was hard and difficult to cut, eggs and hash were good. Chicken fried steak was probably frozen and refried.
Walked in and sat at the bar. There was only 1 server which isnt a surprise. However, I watched 3 guys walk in and get served immediately and another guy sat at the bar and was served immediately. We waited 15 minutes before our order was taken. Look, I get people dont want to work but at the very least serve customers in order. Sorry, but it was not a good experience.
There was hair in my food :( I politely let the waiter know and he asked if we wanted replacement fries but never came back with the fries or in general. We had to go up to the counter to ask for our check three times so ended up paying at the front. It’s a shame because the people were nice, but I am worried about how clean this place actually is especially since I see other reviewers found hair in their food too. How does that happen this often?!
A Capital Hill classic. This dark, well-appointed lounge provides excellent beers and fantastic service any hour of the day. Come for the hardy food, stay all night for the potent drinks and comfortable atmosphere.
Felt welcome upon entry, excellent coffee, and speedy service. Reasonably priced and very delicious breakfast items.
Great spot for breakfast! Very decently priced and food came out very quickly.
Only complaint is their website that their QR code takes you to is not formatted well for mobile. Had to use the desktop website to be able to use the menu. It would be a struggle for people who are not tech savvy.
Great for midnight/shift workers. It’s what you would expect from somewhere that’s open 24hrs. Like a waffle house but better.
Pitcher of mimosa, best eggy Benedict, amazing staff... CANT GO WRONG.
We went here for breakfast. They sat us in a terrible table way in the back by the restrooms that apparently had no waiter assigned to it. We had to ask for all of our service. When we finally got the food for the table it was a different quality for each of us. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. The traditional style eggs and bacon breakfast was OK, but everything was small. The pork breakfast burrito had a hair in it. That, combined with the terrible service, made it an overall poor experience.
I was expecting this to be a bit of a run down vintage diner with good but greasy food and my expectations were exceeded enormously! Lost Lake did have a lovely vintage feel but it didnt feel old and dingy it felt like the updated and clean version of your homey classic diner. The furniture had a mid century modern fun and funky feel to it.We were there mid morning on a Monday and there were plenty of people but it was not busy and we walked right in to a table. The staff were clearly used to a bustling restaurant. They were extremely efficient and speedy but still kind and friendly. The food was also incredibly delicious! It was so elevated above the greasy diner food that expected. My husband got the carnitas burrito which was huge and so very yummy. I had a kale chorizo hash with two poached eggs that was full of vegetables and enormous flavor. The toast was also fresh and so delicious.I cant suggest this restaurant enough!
Food was just okay. I ordered the 2 eggs scrambled with tomatoes and onions. That was dry. Also ordered 3 stack pancakes. As big as they are, they gave me a small thing of syrup. Which meant my pancakes were you guessed it, dry.My wife ordered French toast and it was mostly burnt.Lost lake is definitely Lost on me. Never to return.
Got breakfast and the food was decent at best for the price. Also there was 5 pieces of hair in the food. Ridiculous. 0 stars.
My wife and I went on a Sunday morning and sat on the little patio outside. The service was quick and friendly. We got there around 10 and were out around 11. Caroline was an amazing waitress....friendly, attentive and quick! Definitely recommend this little cafe! The French Toast and Burrito were amazing!
Great atmosphere, diner food and drinks. My favorite place to come after work for happy hour!
A friend took a group of us that were in town from MT to Lost Lake Cafe and I couldnt be happier that he did. I ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich. This menu item is always a hit or miss so far away from Philadelphia, but at this cafe, its was definitely a hit! It was amazing. It is the best philly I have ever had (though Ive never had a true philly from Philadelphia). The sandwich and included french fries were large enough to share between to people and be plenty full when you have finished eating. I will definitely be back!
Cute place with friendly staff and great food. They are happy to accommodate groups on the patio and everything about the experience was simple (and delicious 😋)
Service was good and folks working there were friendly. Ordered the Cobb salad and the greens were starting to go limp and a little slimy. Would rather have a smaller portion and fresh greens than the huge plate of lettuce past its prime.
Don’t come before 8 am if you have more than 2-3 people, apparently. Ignored until the bar opened and when we stated we had been waiting for over half an hour to order drinks, the waiter started shaking, raised his voice and stated we had to leave. We are regulars, have always tipped well for years and work for an organization down the street. Something was only said once we saw many people being served who came in after us.Having been a waitress and working as an ER nurse now, I understand big groups can be demanding but there were only 5 of us sitting there quietly and I politely asked if we could order and he told meI was being rude. Good thing there are other morning dive bars around with better drinks.
Great service and friendly, breakfast was good had carnitas egg burrito thing. Would go back. The option for alcohol in the morning is nice as well.
Great Sunday brunch experience! Food and drinks were timely and delicious. Ricardo gave us excellent service!!
Food was just meh. Service was friendly but stretched tooo thin. Its a good place to talk.
Was not a big fan. We got seated fairly quickly but we had to wait super long for our foods. We ordered a beer flight and the beers were warm.My BLT sandwich the bread was so hard that it scratch the top of mouth. The signature French toast that my friend ordered was okay nothing special but it was cold.
Great service even though quite busy. Good was delicious.
Cheesy grits to die for. Need I say more?! Seriously, come and eat the cheesy grits. Who cares what they stack on top of em. In this case, it was a tasty-enough sausage and some Texas toast with an egg cooked over hard. Whatever. Could have been plain and Id have been just as happy. Dining companions french toast/bacon/eggs breakfast was just OK. Service could have been more attentive. Didnt receive my hot chocolate until the food arrived. The bill took a while to arrive as well and it wasnt particularly busy. 🤷♀️
First time here. Quick service. Sat down & had my coffee & food within 10 minutes of ordering. Portions sizes are very gracious. I couldn’t imagine finishing a plate. Good vegetarian/vegan options. Relaxing vibe. Server checked in on me a couple times. Some may say they don’t check on you enough but I prefer eating in peace. Overall a nice place for 24 hour grub.
Good beer and the hamburgers are amazing. Not crazy about the fries, but overall great place to hang with friends in outdoor seating and get a good burger, fish n chips or a Reuben.
When you think Diner food, this is exactly that and exactly what you want. Quick service and delicious.
I cant knock them for the service, although it took far too long to get our food... Everyone is having a hard time with staffing. The food was so-so. Id give it a try again in once the staffing has improved.
Good food but they will mislead you about the wait time and leave you outside for an hour
Brought a friend to breakfast we didnt get silverware. Hard to eat pancakes steak and eggs without it. Even after asking for it 10 minutes passed and we starting digging in with our fingers to try enjoy our food while it was warm.
Great vibe here, staff is incredibly hard working and fun, food and drink is well- executed elevated diner fare. Solid choice for lunch and brunch!
Was slightly disappointed. The service here was very friendly, was able to get a seat relatively quickly, even with the heavy crowd. But, the disappointment came from the beers being warm, the food being cold, and the food taking over 30 mins to come (sandwich and french toast.) Not quite sure if it was an off day, but just too many things that were just disappointing.
Terrible Customer Service. Used to be awesome when it first open. Now you will most likely like myself and my friends wait a good 40 minutes to be waited on. Smelled like burnt hashbrowns. We are in a pandemic.. You would think that businesses would make it an appoint to have top notch service. Ill have to be drunk to ever return.
Amazing veggie ruben!!!! Love the drinks the bartenders were awesome. Thank you for the awesome experience. Will definitely recommend 👌
Closed at 10:47pm “short staffed” don’t waste your time
We came here and waited at the front for about 5-10 minutes and when someone finally did we were sat and very disappointed of the food. Quality was very generic for such a steep price. Would not recommend
Always pretty decent eats for comfort food. Service is always good. Plan on a wait on weekends but that is normal here. Its a Seattle favorite for years.
This is NOT poutine! Do not a call dish specific name if you don’t intend to make it that way!Not only there was no beef gravy (though promised by the menu description) but the whole thing isn’t like the standard poutine is (and I know what I’m talking about, lived in Canada), no cheese curds at all, just some pitiful melted cheese on top.... highly disappointed! Paid over $35 for the order to get regular fries!!! Ugh.
Im torn about the Lost Lake Cafe, because on one hand the food is generally pretty good for diner fare, but I can never justify the ridiculously long wait times both for a table and once you are already seated. Clearly its a popular spot as I have always had to wait at least 15 minutes for a table no matter what time of day, but diners are a dime a dozen in Seattle, and I just cant justify spending an extra hour of my time waiting around for the same food I can get elsewhere faster.
Went there expecting vegan options which are very limited. Ended up with what tasted like a frozen veggie medley. Bathrooms where gross. Additional food over cooked and skimpy on toppings. Disappointing experience.
First time visit, great Eggs Benedict with bacon done just right.
Ordered eggs Benedict and was asked how I’d like the eggs done... first red flag. Food arrived with hair in it. Bones in the sausage. Dirt in the water. and hardly any breadcrumbs on the Mac and cheese as advertised. Seattle shouldn’t try to do diner food. Come to east coast instead.
Easily waited 40 minutes for my food, and the hot chocolate tasted like it was made with water. The omelette was not good and was overpriced. However, the tater tots were good and the staff was nice.
I went for breakfast, I love supporting local businessesI found hair in my food. They didnt refund my meal, but took a couple dollars off. BEWARE
Horrible service! But wait, there’s more. So, I walk in to find the place about half full. Two staff members milling around behind the counter- one seems semi productive. I stand there for about five minutes looking for a seating sign but found none. Finally I seat myself. About five minutes and two passes by staff before anyone talks to me.When staff does walk up, I’m asked what I want. I tell him coffee to start. He then seats two other people before coming by with coffee. I’ve been here ten minutes now. Choice comes out and I order steak and eggs- over medium. After a long wait and other people being served, my food comes out. Eggs are hard and steak was overcooked. At this point I want to eat, so I did. I watched at least two other customers walk out after waiting to be seated. It wasnt busy so I can only assume the staff sucks.
Greasy spoon food, staff friendly, and atmosphere cozy! Bathrooms tho could use a fresh coat of paint
Always a great place to dine. The service is good, great variety on the menu and a really nice remodeling of the interior and the additional outdoor seating.
Casual and relaxed atmoshpereDuring our stay here they played gorillaz at a reasonable level. Was able to have a conversation without having to yell at eat other which was nice.Food was good. Price was reasonable for cap hill.Only complaint is food took a while to get probably because it was busy, so not really a big problem. But, if you are in a hurry to eat or have starving kids maybe not the place for you.
I ordered biscuits and gravy with Scrambled eggs, hash browns and a side of bacon. I was very disappointed with the biscuits and gravy. First of all onions do not belong in the gravy. Second of all you do not toast the biscuits. Otherwise the breakfast was very good.
Good place thats open 24hrs. Food was good. I didnt love my breakfast burrito, but my friends corned beef hash was on point. Definitely homemade and definitely crispy. Two things important to making a good hash. Blood Mary wasnt great but wasnt expecting much. We also ordered the fried cheese curds which I thought were good, but my friend (from Wisconsin) wasnt impressed.Addendum: Came back for a second visit. Still not super impressed by the food. The best part of this place is the accessibility and long hours, which lead me to keep this a four star review. Had the chicken and biscuits, which was good, but the over easy eggs were overcooked and not runny, and the bready biscuits didnt have enough gravy to keep them moist. The service here is also kind of brash. Seems like the staff is a bit grumpy for being there at all hours around the clock. Maybe they just dont like me because Im not a local/regular.Back for a third visit. Still a four star type of place. Good hours and friendly service for alcohol at all sorts of hours make this place a local staple. The greasy food is good, but is definitely not the best. There are things giving this place the appeal that it has.
A classic go-to for Capitol Hill.Your experience will be different each time you visit, and you just gotta be ok with it! The food is good and cheap! And the staff has always been attentive and decently nice!
Lost lake is a greasy spoon... And thats great by me. I dont know the story behind it (they all have stories) but solid food, normally 24, and drinks whenever its legal to sell them.No pretentious menus, no complex all blehblehbleh... Which is kinda nice in a city like Seattle.Go there, wind down, and enjoy. Its not fancy, but its not supposed to be
It took years off my life waiting to be seated, and another few as we waited to order. As I grabbed the warm, plastic, wet, coarse cup I found a few dirt specks, and yelled so loud internally my group quickly noticed. My physical body can’t go here again or else I’ll have to be given a new lease on life. Do not go here if you value time, and that’s all we have in this one life we have been given.
Proof of vaccination required. Don’t support communists.
Frequent customer. Food is good. Atmosphere is comfortable.
Still one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Their menu has various tasty entrées and wonderful wonderful pies. It’s great to know the staff and get a warm welcome upon entry. They have phenomenal food but my favorite is their classic BLT with avocado.
One of the classic Capitol Hill go-to diners. Though it is known for many early morning meals after a night on the town, the food options are just as delicious during daylight hours! Its a comfortable, cozy place that allows you to be yourself even if its your first visit. Satisfying menu selections, veggie and vegan options, and warm service make this place a gem.
REALLY overpriced for the quality of food you get. I love diner food, dont get me wrong, but I dont want to pay $15 for 4 chicken tenders and some fries. I might as well go to one of the many restaurants in the area and pay the same prices for better quality food and service. The staff was swearing up a storm, which was just off-putting and a bit jarring at 10am on a Sunday. My eggs benedict was served with fried over hard eggs as opposed to poached, and there was possibly a tablespoon of hollandaise sauces, leaving the overall dish super dry. The chicken tenders may as well been reheated from a bag of frozen Tyson chicken strips. The whole meal was a bummer, and I would give one star if it werent for the bloody marys (the saving grace). My boyfriend and I have both joked that we will not be returning here unless its for late-night drunk food when we dont care about flavor, price, or service.
