The Food Basket harkins back to the 90s possibly late 80s feel of how grocery stores used to look and smell. The design and aesthetic of the building along with the run down interior is unfortunately seen these days amongst the sea of bland and boring modern decor. Walking into this grocery store is like going back 30 years or more. It really makes one nostalgic in the feels. The staff was friendly, prices for things are a little high but im honestly happy to pay them because of the retro feel and look. I honestly hope this place never changes.

Id give them five stars if they would only enforce the mask mandate, every time Im in there theres always at least a half-dozen people flaunting not wearing a mask.

We love this place because its never overcrowded and they have plenty of whatever you need. Produce is fresh. We go to this store before we go to any other in Silver City.

I enjoy food basket.. they always have what I need n the best part is, Im in n out in no time.. no long lines... And always treated right except by one manager, the short round bald lady.. very rude, loud, and disrespectful..

Its our local grocery store and compared to other grocery stores. Like Kroger Albertsons, and Smiths that is major corporation. Its a owned by a Family that started the grocery store that lives in Silver City, New Mexico. It has employees that respects and appreciates every customer that lives in Silver City and as well the ones that come for vacation and just visiting our little local community. They provide excellent and polite service to everyone that shops for groceries there. They are a beautiful privately owned company that provides a well done service to the there community.

Well being its the only grocery store in the mining district, more expensive than other grocery stores I guess just cause we live here, it doesnt mean we work at the mine and can afford to pay several dollars more for a bag of cereal than if we go to walmart, but then the meat at food basket is so much better than what Walmart has so we have pros and cons but when I dont feel like driving all the way to silver and dollar general doesnt carry it then food basket is the place I go..the employees are friendlier at food basket as well

Went in for empty box bottoms, to use as divider trays in larger box. Discovered that they dont put them on the shelves, like Walmart does. But found a few in displays of stacked products.

One cashier was not helpful. I asked for a basket and she stated, outside. The young man went quickly to grapone for me. The cashier that checked me out was great, but one rotten apple can spoil the basket.

Visit her almost every day. Best meat market in the county. Ask butcher on most days, they will assist every request.

The only place in town at the time that still had eggnog. And wasnt tryna charge an arm n eight legs.

Its specializes ingredients for Hispanic dishes. Food basket can be quite pricey over the other grocery store options in town. Youll also find free baskets products of less quality than the other grocery stores in town.

Love this store especially when needing only a few items. Its like a Mom and Pop store and so easy to get around. Cashiers are always friendly and helpful.

The past few months the meat and fresh produce have really stepped up their game! I have now started buying the majority of my groceries here again (with the exception of specialty health foods). Glad management has been on top of things and i no longer have to deal with the crowds of albertsons or giving walmart anymore money than i have to.

Prices can be higher than Walmart. Most fruit you have to check (they dont keep the rotten stuff out very well and it affects the newer stuff they toss on top). Baked goods are yummy and the hot deli isnt to bad either.

Visiting a town from my childhood, Silver City NM, we stopped in at the Food Basket, a local grocery. Serving a population of around 10,000 people, Food Basket is well stocked with items meeting the needs of the area. Well organized, with items easy to find, Food Basket has a very friendly staff eager to help.

Love a small business that hangs on no matter the Walmart took most of customers. SUPPORT LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSS. IN AND OUT. I like that you can shop the whole store and you arent hurting, hot or worn out. Friendly staff, always very helpful. A little expensive but if thats what it takes to keep them open, Ill pay it. I love this store. RUN MORE SPECIALS. Only three times in 13 yrs that Dr. Pepper wasnt on sell that week. LOL. I need an IV of Dr Pepper. Cant live without it. I would recommend for you to stop by and Support this local business here in Silver City.PS.. dont forget to go down the $1ilse, I always have to buy something. There are quiet a few Nik nak holders or a holder for almost anything you need. LOVE IT.

This place has a convenient location, but is a bit too pricey to shop for the month. Good for buying things u need on the fly. And the lil deli serves good food, from meat loaf to red enchiladas.

This grocery store typically has short wait lines and has a home town feel to it. The staff is friendly... And its a quick stop to get what you need and go!

Great people, but concerning product... Their freezers are always seemingly empty and broken, and I dont trust the frozen food there.

Love that they have an entire aisle for people like me with dietary restrictions of celiac disease. Produce and meat are great and they are the ONLY grocer in town where I can buy a case of soda that is refridgerated so I can instantly enjoy a cold soda from a can, I dont like bottled soda. This place is great and I know the owners, they are very good people who care about the community they serve.

The manager made the exception and let me have C&H sugar in place for the one that was on sale. I though that was nice

A hometown store, reminds me of the Bashas back home. Staff was very helpful. I asked to find some souvenirs, speaking with one of the employees. It was very nice talking with him.

Awesome little market. They have that delicious jalepeno cheese bread they serve at wranglers. Friendly, courteous and very helpful.

I dont know how many times Ive been approached for having a backpack, if youre a walker you just do! But just leave that with the office and its a good grocery store for instant hot foods for lunch and a selection of 99 cent drinks. I go here regularly for local tortillas without weird stuff, La Bonita and Robertos, that no one else carries. I love the front section with freshly made pico and guac. Excellent drink and beer prices. Local meats and specialty items you cant find elsewhere. Some basic grocery items are higher priced but expected.
