I really like this Star location for what they do for the local community, they have reliably been my go-to shop for food during the pandemic. I would give 5 stars if the selection was better, it has already gotten better recently but could improve. Will keep shopping here.

Good selection, good prices and a friendly staff

WOW!!!Been to this store 6 times and 3 times a product I paid for never made it home, just dissapeared. Gone!! (they actually think Id lie about 3.99 cream cheese, or a loaf of bread.And the premade chicken wings, hope the staff enjoyed. Never again!!!

Use this as your just need a few quick things spot. Its not large, prices are fine, but it just doesnt have the selection of a bigger store. It also doesnt have the crowds, and was an absolute life saver during the pandemic. It honestly reminds me of the grocery stores of my (1990s) childhood, before grocery stores became the size of malls.

Fresh and affordable beef and vegetables with sale price, rice is more expensive than other markets for the same brand!

This star market around my apartment is so convenient and organic. I like it so much! And their evening manager whose name is Tom is a wonderful employee in the store. Tom is so helpful, professional and a real gentleman. Help me a lot even late at his his. I truly appreciate it. Here I give Tom a super five star comment! Tom, super cool one.

Friendly staff and a great selection of produce, home supplies, and food at reasonable prices. Plus they have a great parking lot if you come via car/truck.

Seems to stock a lot of old and nearly expired food.I bought some prosciutto from here - got food poisoning.Got some bell peppers (red and orange) to make dinner with one day - cut open the red pepper and it had mold inside... then i cut open the orange pepper and it also had mold inside.Opened a package of nova lox I picked up from here - immediate smell of rotten eggs like it had gone bad.This all happened within about 2 weeks - makes me very dubious of the place. Very disappointing. Workers/staff are nice/helpful, but the products sold seem bent on making me sick

I only went to Star Market to dropoff a FedEx mail in the front desk .My favorite market is Aldi market, although i should check Star Market for items prices.

This star market is my hidden gem during the COVID this star market yoj didn’t tell anyone that your in and out that there was ko lines also they always had whatever I needed everything sanitary my food always a great selection of watered drinks you walk through the enter doors turn your head to the right a wide variety my go to is HINT Flavor pineapple like 10 for 10 or go and grab some BAI drinks coconut pineapple or just reg coconut. Staff are always friendly

This Star Market has been hit or miss for me. Today I went there for one item, sherbet, and they had none. Didnt even see a place where it should have been.

Cleaner than it used to be pre-covid, costs more than Market Basket but more consistent variety, and good interesting finds in clearance sales.

Lovely store with great customer service. They always have fresh and good quality groceries to offer, especially in the fruit and veggies department. The staff is friendly and always at your disposal.

This is as close to an old-fashioned supermarket as one can find in the area: moderately sized, a good if not extravagant selection of foodstuffs, fresh bread from Iggy’s that they’ll slice, well-tended fresh fruit, both regular and organic, a well-stocked deli counter (with lobsters available for steaming), and ample parking. But best of all are the long-standing and most helpful and personable staff, too numerous to name. I’ve heard the place called “sleepy,” but isn’t that what you want as compared to a crowded Market Basket, even if the prices are slightly higher?And as for Trader Joe’s, the produce and the selection aren’t as good..

This a clean, simple grocery store. It has lots of parking and generally helpful and friendly staff. A good place to shop for the basics.

I enjoyed my 1 1/2 hrs shopping in Peace, no toilet paper though or most produce but I was able to go n come out nicely. Employees were very friendly 😁 and thank u for still keeping nice sturdy bags

Star Market has always been expensive. We shop there because it is very convenient. To make prices reasonable, use every coupon you can get your hands on.One nice thing about Star is the staff. They are always very helpful. If you cannot find something they will always check out back for additional stock.

This is a perfectly acceptable supermarket. Pretty much everything you need except beer. The chips are in the front of the store, which took us a minute to figure out. Would recommend for a quick stop or a big shop. Except beer. Which I think I mentioned. It might even be BYOB.

The earlier version of this market was niche specialty food. The vibe was retained but infused with Star Markets own inventory and sales. They dont charge for bags. 😉

Worst super market I have walked into. Price are ridiculous, and shelves are almost empty all the time. Also the store feels like a ghost town. Never again.

We only go here because its close if we dont want to go to Trader Joes. They have a wide selection obviously. But prices are insane. Especially for produce and most of the time its not even that good. Its also got quite a bad smell when you walk in.

Ive come to find that Star market usually has everything that I need, and occasionally things that are hard to find. Ive found it is often dependent upon what area you are at and the clientele frequently goes there. Its a large chain grocery store, so they typically have a good variety of items to choose from.

A slightly overpriced chain grocery store with a large selection. Youll be able to find pretty much any food items you need here if you are willing to pay a premium price. Given that there arent many other options, Star Market is a decent choice. This location can get very busy with long checkout lines along the staff are always polite.

Lived near here, but thats the only reason youd groceries here as there is a much better star market nearby at Porter square. Thus place is small and closes pretty early.A great place to get quarters though, just ask the customer service desk.

I for the most part love this neighborhood grocer. But last week had a silly experience at the deli. Ordered 1/4lb of boiled ham. Only to notice 4 slices when home.FOUR! That cost $2.70!! No bueno.So no more deli meat for me from there. Other than that friendly staff and good place.

Not bad. The employees here are clueless so its fairly easy to boost what you need. The store is fairly old, but its holding up well. Other then when your fingers are feeling sticky, I dont see the point in going to this Star when there is a better one literally a mile away in Porter Square.

The only good thing I can say about this star market is that within the last year it finally stopped smelling like rotten meat and they stopped selling expired products. But the parking lot still smells so strongly of garbage that you can smell it from across the street. Cashier never stops texting to check people out despite long lines. Hopefully this location closes down and is replaced by literally anything else.

This used to be another grocery store chain that closed a couple years ago which explains why its a Star about a quarter mile from the more popular Star Market at Porter. It has a large almost always empty parking lot which is crazy since Porter Square is always mobbed but we almost never come here because they dont have ad much variety in products as the other Star and are not as cheap as Market Basket.

Great amount of stuff even during covid

This place is about as close to me as the Porter Square Star Market, but more convenient in many ways. Thats always parking, there are almost never lines, and they carry most of the same things that the larger store does. They are limited to certain sizes, though; if you want a whole quart of Goya juice in a Tetra Pak youll need to go somewhere bigger, but theyll probably have your flavor in smaller cans. The staff are friendly in my experience, but I havent interacted with them much either. I finally figured out that their oils and condiments are across from the fresh produce instead of one of the other shelf-stable food aisles.

Maybe the most expensive grocery store in Boston. Has everything you could want but everything is $1-$2+ more than even Star Market ½ mile away on Beacon St. Seems like they can only get away with this since it’s easily accessible by the T and for many students without cars.

Its close. It has mediocre produce, but has all the staples.

I just wanted some red lentils. Is it too much to ask for someone to help me find them?I walked over to the rice and beans aisle, found the green lentils and noticed that all of the racks for red lentils were empty. When I went to customer service for a stock check, the person at the counter was trying to leave, claiming that she needed to go help someone somewhere else. She called over the people in charge of stocking, who then argued claiming How am I supposed to know where that is?This whole ordeal took around fifteen minutes. I ended up leaving empty handed.

Smaller than the Star Market in Porter, but is quicker and has easier parking. Also, it has a better selection of some items, especially Salsas and Hot Sauces.

This location is simply awful. There is a 24 hour Star Market just down the road in Porter that is significantly better, so do not waste your time here.I live near this location an I am often tempted to save the walk to Porter...and I regret it every time. The smell is bad when you walk in and ruins your appetite. Packaged items are often close to their expiration dates (I just had half/half cream go bad less than a week after purchase). I bought raw meat once here (chicken breasts), and it reeked after only a day in the fridge.Why Star Market even keeps this location open is beyond my understanding. I will not go here again, at least not until they give it a complete overhaul.Oh, but the people are nice enough....as long as you are not there anywhere near closing time.

I almost dont want to give a review for the Star Market because Im afraid people will actually start going there and I mean that in a good way! Its never really packed you can find everything easily and the staff is awesome.

I got terrible food poisoning from chicken breasts that I purchased here just last night. The staff is helpful, and its never too crowded, but the quality of the produce and especially the meats is questionable at best.

So Star on Beacon st. SOMERVILLE sux. Management sux. The muffins in the bakery are Burnt all the time, they Will bring something out and then never bring it back so the variety sucks. Store closes at 10 but the deli and courtesy booth both close at 8 how much sense does that make. ive been Shopping here for over 10 years and in the last 3 years the new management has changed way to many things for the Worse. And wen u try talking to management they tell u the oven is old. Sorry no you need a new baker because the one that was there bfor this one could bake a muffin. And bfor u say this person has no clue what she is talking about, i went to school to b a baker and cook so i do have ghe Experience to open my mouth and say something.

One of the worst in the area - produce was moldy and no cashiers on. Sorry to say this is a depressing miss for a possibly great location. Prices are expensive and cant compete with market basket. Stay away.
