Ive been going to Spar Auto since my teenage years with my very first car. Al has always taken care of any problem that would arise. Whether it be my car or any of my family members. Very honest mechanic who doesnt take advantage of people, gives good recommendations and is not pushy at all. Al tries to help you not sell you, which is hard to find now a days! This is my go to place. I dont even bother with anyone else and will always recommend people to go here if you want the problems resolved the first time! I recently took my 2008 BMW to Spar Auto Services for a quick ground strap replacement. The gentleman behind the counter, Al, was very professional, explaining the repair process and providing me with a quote for the job. I was happy to hear the quote as the dealership was going to charge me 3x that...so I went ahead and told Al to do the job. I was in and out of the place within an hour. During the time, Al was also friendly and we chatted about different auto repair jobs and I told tell he had a vast knowledge for car repairs as he has been in the business for about 30 years. I will take my car to his shop every time now going forward, he is honest and straight forward with you.Thank you Al for the great service!

Exceeds expectations. If you are looking for a trustworthy shop where you wont get the workaround then you have come to the right place! They are honest and tell you all the issues they see in the car and call you every step of the way to let you know if they find anything additional. They also explain what could have caused the problem, and how to resolve it and give you the option to add the fix to the list if you would like. I have been to other shops in the past that claim they fixed additional problems with my vehicle and charge me for it even though I didnt approve of it.As long as I live in New Jersey I will always go to Spar!

Spar is an honest business that kept my car running for a few years. Any mistake on their end they dealt with free of charge. Al was always good about calling with a work estimate and my car was always finished fast. Aside from the mistakes mentioned above and one communication glitch, I had a satisfactory experience with Spar.

Needed an emergency fix and Spar was the only place that let me come right away. Took them less than half hour and what they charged for the job was absolutely reasonable. Thank-you!

The service I received at Spar auto was great! I have a very tough time trusting mechanics, but the owner and the workers are very trustworthy and arent trying to make a quick buck. They truly care about cars and they take care of the people driving them as well. I recommend them to all of my friends and I will continue going here until the government says I cant drive anymore!

This place has great people working here. Ive been coming here for all my car problems for years and I wouldnt trust anyone else with my cars. Just recently took my BMW x5, and Al and his team were able to fix what others werent able to even detect. Car needed a new computer and programing, and they were able to fix it in less time than what others told me.

I was pretty sure I knew what was wrong w my truck so I knew I could trust them when their diagnoses matched mine. They didn’t try to quote me with more work that needed to be done and everything was done in a timely fashion. Would visit again

We have taken several vehicles to SPAR AUTO SERVICE for more then 15 years. Al Patel, Service Manager is a proven knowledgeable auto mechanic who provides excellent customer service. The SPAR technicians are courteous and eager to provide excellent service. Our first experience was with a car we took to SPAR for oil change service. We had complained to the dealer several times about a thumping noise when braking. Was told the brake system was in good condition. Al heard the noise. Found a problem with the braking system and corrected it. We trust the SPAR AUTO SERVICE and recommend them to family and friends.

I happened across this shop over 10 yrs ago. To cut to the chase... I trust Al. He has actually taken me to the work area and provided laymans overview of what was wrong and what they were doing to fix the problem. He is friendly, knowledgeable, skillful,, respectful and trustworthy.

Went here for the first time today to get a State Inspection. They took me in right away and the inspection took about 10-15 minutes. Very quick! Customer service was good. Ill definitely be going back there when I get my next oil change.Edit 11/24/13: Its been a year since my first review here, so I wanted to do an update. Ive been going here ever since my first time. These guys are still great. Ive been getting my regular oil changes here. The last oil change I got was a month ago. The owner took me back to the garage and showed me that my tires were very worn out. First of all, other shops that Ive went to, they never SHOWED me what problems I had with my car. When the owner said to me come with me, I need to show you something I was surprised because past mechanics Ive dealt with, never said that to me.Also, I get email notifications from them reminding me of up coming oil changes. The owner also keeps track of my mileage...good for when I need a tire rotation or engine flush or any service that needs to be done after a certain amount of mileage. I mean, thats good, reliable and trustworthy service to me!

I have been going to Spar Auto for about 12 years now. The reason I began going is because they had a sign outside noting that they were VW certified (and I had a Passat at the time), so I was trying to avoid going to a dealer and getting ripped off as Id read really bad reviews about a few of them. What I didnt know is that they service all kinds of vehicles that you might typically think that have to take to a dealer.Al, the head mechanic there is ridiculously HONEST and always gives you a thorough and frank assessment of your vehicles issues. Ryan and Victor are very competent and professional and always provide exceptional and thorough service. An honest mechanic? Isnt that an oxymoron? Cant even begin to tell you how many times Ive felt a mechanic was over diagnosing my car issues just so I could spend more money. I actually live about 35 miles away and Im still a customer as I cant imagine taking my familys vehicles anyplace else. Trust them wholeheartedly. Try them. Youll love them too. (:

Ive been coming to SPAR for all my cars for several years. Very honest, very capable. Al in particular is a mechanical genius - he can often figure out less expensive alternatives to repairs, and knows when its best to use OEM parts and when its ok to use aftermarket parts. Competitive in price too.

Been comming here since 2015 when i had my 2010 honda civic, Never had issues. When i got rid of my civic for a rav 4 i took it to Them to make sure the dealer wasnt hiding any maintenance issues, when he inspected He didnt find any issues, been taking it here for my regular oil changes and its been amazing. And best part is he uses napa parts which from past experiences have the best quality parts and filters.

After using Spar for a couple of years, my husband and I finally switched to a different mechanic. While much of the work done was satisfactory, we also experienced some communication issues.

I have taken my vehicles to Al to be repaired for over 10 years.I was leaving for a Saturday trip out of townWhen the car shut off along the way and would not start again .I had the car towed to Spars.Al called me the following Monday and said that he had good news and bad news. The reason the car would not start was because the computerized key was defective.This key cost over 200 dollars and can only be purchased from Jaquar.I was still please that this was the only issue.I paid Al 100 dollars,and drive home.A HALF HOUR LATER THE CAR STALLED AGAIN AND WOULD NOT START!FORTUNATELY,I DID NOT PURCHASE THE KEY FROM JAGOnce again I paid to have the car towed back to Spars. Al called me 2 days later and said that his computer detected that 4 of my engine coilsWere bad and had to be replaced.I gave him the ok to fix it.THIS TIME I PAID OVER 700 DOLLARS.Picked up the car when he called and had my wife drive it home.SHE DROVE THE CAR FOR 20 MINUTESBEFORE THE TEMP INDICATOR WENT REDAND THE CAR OVERHEATED.Once again I towed it to SPARS.Al called and said that the engine coolant was leaking from the backup reservoirAgain..I told him to fix it.HE CHARGED ME 300 DOLLARSWhen I picked up the Car I asked Al..AL THIS CAR IS NOT GOING TO SMOKEAND GO DOWN AGAIN RIGHT?He promised me it wouldnt.ON THE WAY HOME THE CAR OVERHEATEDAND STARTED SMOKING AGAIN!!!!Once again I towed it back to SPARSThis time Al told me that the RadiatorWas the source of the leak!!!I was fed up.I had the car towed home.Al refused to make any amends for his obviousBad diagnostic failures and blamed the age and mileage of the car for his mistakes.MY CAR IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAYIT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.I AM OUT 1000 DOLLARS PLUS350 DOLLARS IN TOW FEESAND I DID NOT DRIVE MY CAR FORAN ENTIRE HOUR AFTER PAYING ALTO REPAIR IT!!!YEARS OF LOYAL PATRONAGE ISGONE!!!!

I have been coming to this place for over 10 yrs...Al is the head mechanic here and he is the best... I have a toyota, bmw, range rover, honda, audi, volkswagen... Very fair place... Will not fix until he speaks with you... Even then he will work with you and suggest the highly recommended areas to get fixed first to make car last... He has great knowledge and keeps his software up to date to fix computers in newer cars... He keeps track of all the work in his computer system and even has suggested fixes on the receipt... Highly recommended!!!

Went there to get my broken engine mount bolts removed on my 96 rav4 the owner seems like a likable person but the technician started to complain about the job and that it was difficult to do even before looking at it,I finally convince them to take a look from under and that the timing belt was not an issue and that all the work was external, but the (maybe) technician convince the owner that it was too difficult to do and i took my rav 4 and left and never to return to that shop again and told my neighbor who refereed them to me, to do not go back to them. He always did complain that they was expensive and very slow and that it convenient mainly for minor tune ups. ps the bolt was removed by me in under 1/2 hr with a tweezers because it was not tight inside the engine block, sorry they missed an opportunity to make a few more customers.
