I had a broken pair of glasses and went to South Plainfield expecting a couple of days.Samantha welcomes me at the door, helped me pick out new frames and Jess put the lenses in while I waited...Flawless process and will definitely come back...
Just horrible, thats all.I believe the driving glasses were made with the incorrect segment height. Reading were fine. Pearl insisted I return BOTH pair for the refund. My main concern is Pearl insisted cataracts was my problem. Went to a specialist THEY recommended and was told no cataract surgery needed. However, they detected an spot that might be macular degeneration and was shocked Pearl did not detect it during their exam 3 months earlier. In addition, after several requests, Pearl would not supply me with my prescription without signing a release upon the refund, which is against NJ optometrists regulations.
Re: South Plainfield, NJ location. Very perceptive optometrist caught a potentially serious issue someone else could have easily missed, and wrote a referral to a specialist who confirmed her findings and scheduled a procedure immediately. Thank you, Dr. Ackerman. Najame and Jessica were awesome, suggesting frames that were exactly the right size and shape for me. Saved me so much time. They know their stuff...and are as sweet as anyone could be.
I really liked this place and the people that were assisting. Both doctors I dealt with were great. I would have advised anyone to go to this location.However, the other day, someone called me asking when I could come in for a contact fitting. I was trying to work with them on my schedule and their doctors schedules but the person was being rude. I told them nevermind and that i would call back when I could make myself free enough to meet THEIR schedule. I called back a little less than a week later, dealt with the same rude person, but scheduled an appointment.Today when I went to pick up my contacts, I saw a large note talking about how rude I was. The note had a few exaggerations which was amusing. I have an app on my phone that records my phone calls and I can most definitely prove that any attitude that came from my end was justified. They just lost a customer who really wanted to come back multiple times and spend money there.Petty post, no shame though.
Dr Hermann and staff are wonderful, best eye exam my family and I ever got I highly recommend them and Dr Hermann
Seth is the greatest and the other staff members, were extremely pleasant every time I went into Pearl Vision. I was actually handling business for someone and found some frames I fell in love with. After the great customer service I decided to make a purchase and have been extremely satisfied with the service and the eyeglasses. Seth and the young lady there were awesome. Now they have added a new person also great. Will go back again. Thanks!!!!!!!
Seth at this location helped me with 3 new pairs of glasses this year. He went so far and beyond of his job to ensure all 3 of my glasses were perfect. I wish I found this location sooner as Seth really made my shopping experience easy and pleasant! Seth gets a 5 Star Rating from me!
I chose this place because they take my insurance. I had an appointment on Saturday with Dr. Yamamoto for myself and my son. She was great!! Very knowledgeable and explained everything well and made my son feel comfortable. They have a great selection of frames. My son found a frame right away and we were helped by Seth! We were told a week for his glasses but they were ready in 3 days! The staff is amazing here, we will be returning next year for our exams!!!!
They have decent collection of frames where I chose a pair of Ralph Lauren’s. Service was better and price little higher than competitors.What I did not like though, the lens did not have any scratches resistance even if it was claimed.I am a very careful user of glasses but within first three month my left lens is already unusable with scratches no matter how cautiously I maintained those.Now this is second time I used service of Pearle Vision and last time I had similar issues whereas the glasses made from other retailers did not show similar problems even after longer use.I do not believe it is the issue with this particular Pearle at Piscataway though and seems like this is the quality standard of this retailer.I would not do business with this brand anymore.Update Dec 2019:Thanks to the shop for getting me a free replacement. However, same problem appeared within a couple weeks. No matter, how carefully I handle the new lenses, it’s getting scratches easily. My 4 year old pair of glasses from different merchant still have flawless lenses even after very casual handling (The hologram said Crizal - RV on old lenses but the new lens does not show any hologram may be the difference between them)Again all thumbs up to this store for the service and willingness to assist but product could be better.
While it may be true that the inventory for the different models for glasses is not as extensive in this Pearle Vision-South Plainfield NJ branch as compared to other optical stores, the excellent customer service and customer-centric approach of this store more than make up for this perceived weakness.Last February 2020, we drove 40 minutes to this store from our home and came out with a very good experience.I have to single out Jessica the manager and her associate Verdang who was laser-focused on us while we were assessing our options on the glasses my wife needed. We eventually bough 2 pairs. Verdang was very knowledgeable on the details of the glasses, each brands pros and cons, and he will recommend which pair fits and looks much better on you. The level of attention he gives you as a customer is much superior than the rest of the associates/employees.It took us a long time to try on several pairs but with his patience and positive demeanor, we eventually got what we wanted and happy with the experience.Kudos to Verdang (you were on point on what customer service should be all about, keep it up!) and to the able guidance of his manager Jessica whom we remember as the very first one who assisted us years back and now she is the manager in charge! Congratulations and keep it up as well!Please visit this store for your optical needs and look for these individuals in particular. You will never regret it.
My son broke my glasses on Saturday morning. Every other place I called told me Id have to wait 7-10 days but I called and they had my prescription in stock. There was a guy who was so down to earth and helpful. Had my glasses ready in less than 30 mins. I would definitely recommend this place.
There are reasons why this shop has 90% 1 star reviews in other reputed website(as of this date 12/29/2019). Here are mine.a) Not worth visiting. Just couple models in each brand. Hardly any collections.b) Questionable practice by ripping off customers: This shop is in-network with my insurance(VSP) but ignored it totally. My insurance allowed amount $290 for frame(double confirmed even with email). The frame I picked was 268$ at the shop(note: 22$ less than amount covered by insurance). To my shock, they wanted me to pay $70 from my pocket on top of what is paid by insurance. Lens is 100% covered by VSP(I have email) for my specification(super basic) but these people charge 60$ from me.Sole motive is to over charge customers with fake professionalism. He didnt want to show me what he claims he checked in the system for price.. Neither did he bother to take 2 minutes to check with the insurance over phone, in spite of me showing email from VSP.
I went there a couple of weeks ago looking to purchase two pair of glasses. I walked in and was not greeted nor was I asked if I needed help. I walked over and started to look at glasses I saw a pair that I really liked I would have love to purchased them but since nobody asked if I needed any help or greet me I left. They really need a class on customer service.
My experience there was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. Narell,Jess,Seth help me to achieve the look I was looking for and I was so pleased. Thanks you Guys u will see me again.
These guys specialize in substandard eyewear at inflated prices. Go to an independent eye care place instead. You will get better care and a better deal.
Ive been going to the South Plainfield Pearle Vision for years and always had good experiences with them. Over the the years I was examined by 2 of the 3 Ophthamologist and have always had thorough and professional exams. The optometrists who have fitted me with frames and lenses have always been very helpful and worked with me to help decide various options for lenses especially with what my insurance would pay.
Their frames are somewhat $$$$$$.I went on Saturday after the new year. They were short staffed and it appeared it was somewhat of a problem for the staff member. I picked out a pair of DKNY frames, and got a price quote of $700, with my insurance it came down $332. The frames were put aside and an exam was scheduled for Monday. The following day I went to Target, picked out a pair of Armani Exchange. Big different in price, and they are out of my network. Monday Mr Happy staff member wasnt there. I selected another pair of frames $279; overall quote $313. At least Mondays staff was better. My appointment was with Dr. Goldstein. He was very nice and took time to answer my questions. I would return because of him.
Dont ever order lenses from this place! The customer service is so bad! I had ordered my lenses through them 6 months back with an eye exam and wanted to reorder it bcuz I had ordered only for 6 months! I called them last month asking to reorder and wanted one pair of color lenses and she said she doesnt know the exact price for 5he color lenses and said she would call me back! I didnt receive any call! So I called them today and the lady who picked up the phone was extremely rude and she tell me that whenever she tried to call me some guy answered the phone, she clearly is lying bcuz I dont share my phone with anyone! And she is asking me to come back for an eye exam when eye exam is usually done once a year! I asked her to email me my prescription and she said she would and havent received it yet! Gave her a call she picks up listens to my voice and hangsup! Her name is Norelle! I called her 20 times after that and she keeps hanging up on me!! It would be great if any of the pearle vision staff reads and send me my prescription! Very bad customer service! I really liked the Dr there thats why I chose this place!

So sad that they are even still in business not only overpricing but the lack of knowledge is unacceptable! I priced out glasses for my daughter in two other places. This place tells me the RX is not bifocal reading glasses for her. They would need to speak to the Dr. He also said there would be a line across her pupils on the glasses. Went to Costco, not only knowledgeable but the price made much more sense for reading glasses for an 8 year old. They also suggested a progression no line so it doesnt hurt her eyes. We paid $150 for a full pair of RX glasses VRS $450 Pearl tried to rip us off with. Clearly they cant even read an RX. UGH!
Very arrogant and greedy people, been customer of this place for years for frames and glasses and called them to get a copy of my prescription since doctor office was closed, response was, we have the prescription, cant give to you since you did not see our in-house doctor, of-course if i was giving them more orders for glasses/frame they would gladly use the same prescription,
The lobby staff at least were friendly and didnt mind me browsing.
After literally trying 2 hours to fix my sons glasses, I took them to Pearl Vision. I was wowed to see Seth fixing it in 2 minutes. Seth is not only an expert but also courteous and professional. Thank you Seth!
