Very clean and beautiful place! My 18 month old can go all the way to the top and I don’t feel like she’s going to get knocked over the edge of something like other places we’ve been to. This place was very well designed! Love it

I got to drink tons of coffee and my son was enertained for hours. This a great place to spend a Saturday in the winter. They also can host birthday parties or other kids events.

Most of these indoor kids places it’s like the minute you walk in you feel the germs attacking. Not sure why but Kid City isn’t like that!! My kids love coming here!! We come regularly during the winter!! Defiantly a fun place to burn some energy!!Only problem I have is it’s quite small! On a day off this place gets PACKED! I have wondered if the fire department is aware of the crowds!

Friendly & helpful staff, lots to do for the kids, & clean! The owner was very attentive before as well in regards to making things look exactly how I wanted & answering all the questions I had. Best birthday party venue for young kids. Just hosted my 6 and 4 year old daughters bday party today. It was my first time at Detroit Kid City and it was fantastic. The hosts, Dimitri and Garret, were very attentive and organized. Play area was clean. All the kids had a blast. Parents got to enjoy the cafe during the party. Highly recommend!

Detroit Kid City is about the kids. My 18 month old son enjoyed his time here, truly. We realized coming here we are bred and born into the uniqueness of Detroit, teaching my son of his cultural identity through play and tiny Sesame Street like shops. Thank you to the owner who creatively thought of every detail this place brings. My son was so joyous in play. The staff was accommodating as well and friendly to my son. Best to the business.

Great place! Great coffee! Such fun activities! My kids (boy and girl) attended a birthday party here once and we kept coming back. Theres plenty to keep my kids busy and the old town they have set up lets me teach them about so many things.

My toddler and I love this place! So many things for the kids to play with, very safe, never overly crowded, very clean, and it’s nice to have a diverse group of kids and parents for our son to play with. They don’t use regular milk for their coffee drinks, just soy or almond milk, but that’s just one tiny gripe- definitely doesn’t outweigh any of the benefits :)

Love This Place! We come here all the time, shirt club makes it only $5 entry & adults are free!! We have had 2 private parties here..they do all the work! And my kids school even did a field trip. Keeps kids entertained for hours and the coffee is fresh! Very Clean, staff is awesome...family favorite for sure!

Attended a family party and enjoyed very much. Great place that allows childrens imaginations to run wild. Plus the staff was helpful, accommodating and polite. A lovely bonus was the specialty coffee bar. Youre missing out if you dont use Detroit Kid City for your next celebration!

Had such a great time here with my 8 month old son. We met a friend of mine and her 7 month old daughter. Such a great atmosphere and vibe to the interior. Such a great sensory location for children of all ages. It is set up like a little village where kids can run around and explore to their hearts content. My son loved the Hitsville USA building and jammed on the baby grand piano! The store offers vegan friendly food and drinks! Bonus, if you are a parent who comes with a child 12 months or younger, admission is just the cost of a drink, reasonably priced! I cannot wait to visit the other locations and return when my son is older as well. Highly recommend!!

I attended a birthday party today (2-12-2017) at the Southfield location. The three people that were working there today were great. The two gentlemen ran the front. One greeted me when my child and I entered the building and showed us where to set our gifts and coats and told us when food would be arriving. There was also a very nice young lady working on the play side of the building. This employee was not only cleaning up after the kids, but she was interacting with the kids and playing with them. Her and I got to talking about my daughter and how she would be starting speech classes soon. She said she was just finishing school for speech therapy and was able to give me some tips on how to help my daughter at home. She was so sweet and nice. She took the time to interact with the kids and not just run around behind them and clean up. The three employees working there today had everything under control and running smoothly. All three were nice and friendly. It was a great experience and all of the employees looked as if they enjoyed their jobs. Great job Southfield team.

Detroit Kid City is a great & unique place to let your children play hands on & without technology. I like to stop here for an hour before making my toddler go shopping with me. It lets him get off some energy & have fun. We had his 1st Birthday Party here also and it was so amazing having the place to yourself & made a background for beautiful memorable photos. I will say it was a bit too expensive for me to consider having another birthday party again.

I love this place. Its loads of fun for me and my kid to go to. I love taking my daughter on the weekends to have fun, imagination play. The roving attendants keep this place well cleaned and organized, even amidst the chaos. And, if you get coffee, its free for 1 years or under.

What a fun place to take your little ones. This is an awesome play place for your kiddos to explore. There is a coffee shop inside and snacks to buy as well. This place is also great about supporting the community and donating to fundraisers. Amazed by their generosity.

Went with a friend who heard about it, while I was in town visiting. We loved it!!!Such a great concept!!!My daughter could have spent hours there.I wish there was a place like it where I live!The next time Im in town Ill be taking her again!!Perfect indoor activity, especially when the weather isnt that great.Reasonable price, and they have a t-shirt membership option which is great if you plan to go a lot. Didnt try anything in the cafe but they had a good selection.Other than that, when I went the place was clean and there was always an employee walking around picking up/organizing/cleaning things so if thats their standard every day, I cant imagine what anyone would complain about.

Nice place and the kids had a great time. Coffee was insanely good which is a welcome change from many of the other play places I have been to where drinks and other concessions are a distant after thought. Many parents were hovering over thier kids I felt a bit of a snooty vibe off them. Sounds like they are opening another location so Id like to see how those are.

I had such a fantastic experience with having my daughters 1st birthday at Detroit Kid City! The ages of the children ranged from 3 weeks to 5 with everyones parents as well and fun was had by all! I loved that this was a private event and we had the entire place to ourselves. All we had to do was show up with the birthday girl and Detroit Kid City took care of the rest. I would highly recommend to host a birthday party here. We had 3 Detroit Kid City staff working our event: they greeted each guest, explained the timing of the party, cut and served the pizza, cleaned up after the kids playing throughout the party, cleaned up, served drinks and everything in between with such a great smile on their face. Highly recommended!!!

I love bringing the kids here, tons to do, staff is everywhere. Would give 5 stars of they had an actual lunch menu. We have to bring lunch and leave to eat, then come back.

We held my sons 2nd birthday party at Detroit Kid City! He absolutely loved it and had an amazing time!! They were very accommodating and everything was very well put together. The staff was very nice and helpful. Such an easy party for my husband and I. Showed up and everything was ready. Any pizza and cupcakes left over we took home with us. We would definitely have another party there!!

I have a 16 month old and he had a blast here when we went on a rainy day. Childrens entry fee was $10 and we spent about 40 minutes there. It was clean, safe, etc. Well definitely be back.

I took my 15 month old and she had a blast. We were there right when they opened on a rainy weekday and by the time we left 2 hours later it was packed. There was so much for her to do and experience. I loved that everything was Michigan product themed. We will definitely go again.

We had an amazing time having our sons birthday party here! The staff was organized, professional, and helpful. The facility is fun and full of things for the kids to do - they walked in and began playing and barely wanted to stop for presents or pizza. We highly recommend it and would definitely do it again!

My 5 & 2yr old LOVED Detroit Kid City! Lots of different things to role play & explore.Very clean, there was someone going around picking up & cleaning throughout the time we were there.Ordered a Vanilla Latte and it was good too.Price is too high for parents, especially since we are just sitting & following our kids.

We had our son and daughters joint birthday party here yesterday. Everyone was really happy and the kids had a blast. The past few years weve had parties at our house so it was really a treat to just show up and relax. We had guests from age 1 - 8 that enjoyed themselves. Everyone was a bit bleary eyed from the daylight savings time change but thank goodness for the amazing coffee! If you do a party here, my advice is to go for the open coffee bar. It was so nice to be able to walk around to my guests and just invite them to grab beverages.Feedback: The seating area is a bit tight for the adults to comfortably eat during lunch. The kids are fine at the tables but the grown-ups were jammed in. Also any other food options for adults besides pizza would be nice (veggies and dip, sub platter, etc)

Cesspool of germs! Cool place but be prepared to have sick kids afterwards. Everything there goes in kids mouths and then is played with by others before being washed. I wonder if anything ever gets washed.

DKC did an excellent job hosting my son’s first birthday party! I literally did nothing but show up! :-) the staff was very kind and they greeted every quest. It was truly a relief to just focus on the birthday boy and not the party details. The kids had a great time and so did the adults. DKC also allows kids to get away from technology and use their imagination! Most of the parents loved that party. :-) i highly recommend DKC as the perfect party for kids

We took our grand daughter there on 2-22-17 and the concept is nice but needs improvements. First of all it should be for kids 5 years of age and under. Our experience was very negative. It was SO chaotic in there. There was several kids that were much older and out of control. They were running around and throwing the balls from the baseball field as if they were playing dodge ball with balls flying everywhere. When they ran out of balls, they were taking items from other play area and whipping them all over the entire area. Making the play experience not only for my 4 year old grand daughter an unpleasant one, but also for others. There was absolutely NO supervision, by the parents of these kids or staff. And much of the play items were made of cloth and very dirty looking. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

Clean. Nice change of pace from other play places. More opportunities for kids to use their imaginations.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of this establishment today. They are 2 of the nicest people I have ever met. I can only imagine how great they are with children because they have 5 or 6 kids themselves! I can’t wait to bring my little guy here so he can have a blast!!!

We sent them an inquiry and they responded very promptly and answered every question and concern we had thoroughly.We found a time that worked well for our party and reserved it and that was literally all the work we had to do--the staff at Detroit Kid City took care of everything. It was so nice to be able to enjoy our daughters party and spend time with our guests while the staff took care of food and drinks and attending to the needs our guests. And having a great space where our young kids could roam free and be safe is priceless. All the kids had a great time in all of the play areas and everyone enjoyed the delicious Jets Pizza!!I would absolutely recommend Detroit Kid City for a private party or just a nice playday for your kids.

Im obsessed with this place! My toddler had an absolute blast! Nothing was off limits to him, he was able to explore all the unique rooms. I loved that he wasnt stuck in a baby section. I was worried about not having a stroller, but it wasnt needed at all. Also they have no junkie plastic toys. Wood, fabric, and some beautifully repurposed items. I was very impressed with the coffee bar, great espresso!

I went into the Southfield location which is usually a great place to go play. Beware of your personal belongings. My daughters new pink, size 12-18 months Northface jacket was stolen today. Someone left their child’s (approximately) size 3-4 jacket in its place with no tag. The jacket left also was old and not in very good shape. The people working said sorry but that does not bring my jacket back. I’m hoping it’s an honest mistake but i don’t know why someone would take a smaller coat. I’m not holding my breath in hopes that someone will return my daughters coat. I will gladly update this review if my daughters coat is returned. Either way, please make sure you watch your personal belongings while at Detroit Kids City!

Perfect for a kids birthday party! We had my daughters 5th birthday party here on a Saturday evening from 4-6pm. 16 kids attended. The kids had a great time playing and the adults seemed to enjoy themselves as well. There is plenty of seating for the adults throughout the city & the kids have a lot of room to have fun and use their imaginations. Our guests ranged from 9 months to 8 years old and all ages had fun! The staff handled everything and they were very pleasant anf helpful. We will probably have my youngest daughters birthday party here as well.

My kids love this place we have been going since it first opened. The cost is more than some other places but the quality is way better. It is great for imaginative play, they also have storytime sometimes around noon.

My son was really interested, did not want to go home for lunch! Really well organized and fun

I little pricey for its size, but the kids love it. Theres a plywood boulevard of small town themed buildings and a small camping play area. Coffee is pretty good too.

We have to thank you and everyone that help put on birthday party today {11-5-16}. The staff was so amazing and friendly, plus warm and welcoming. Each family came up to us during the party and shared what a wonderful place DKC was and how great the party was. Ive been getting texts all night again from parents saying it was the best kids birthday parties they ever been to, that their kids cant wait to go back, etc.It all ran smoothly, half the parents attending were also current or past teachers of young kids and everyone raved how organized it was! Which is huge coming from a group that lives in organized chaos each day, ha!!Our son told us all night that his party was amazing and he was so excited to have it at one of his favorite places. Thank you for making such a memorable party for our lil almost 3 year old guy!!!

We had to plan a last minute birthday party for our 3 year old here and they pulled it off without a hitch! While going through the process and signing up, the gal kept telling me just show up and smile... Im a Mom of two with a 3rd on the way and I was thinking... yeah, ok.... Well, I was wrong. All we had to do was show up and smile. They handled everything, the kids had an absolute blast, the team put in place to manage the party was beyond helpful and accommodating. Everyone left happy, full and thrilled to attend our party. A toddlers party has never been so easy and successful! Thank you DKC! We will be back!

I’m just going to start by saying that I normally don’t rate businesses on google or anywhere else for that matter. I’m making the exception because if I could save someone their money and time, then that’s what I’m going to do. First of all, when you call, you don’t get to speak to anyone but you will have to email for them to contact you so because this was last minute I decided to go ahead and schedule the time slot before someone else did. We had my daughter’s two year birthday party at the Dearborn location which I believe is fairly new. After booking it and getting the email that asks for all the details, I noticed their options for food is only pizza and cupcakes, that it! No ranch sauce, nothing allowed because the owner is ocd and kept telling us how he wants people to rave about the cleanliness, which honestly I can appreciate as a parent. But when I know for a fact that 7 out of 14 kids (my two kids included) got sick afterwards, I have to question how clean it really is. Picking up toys and putting them in place is not what I call cleaning. I don’t think anything get disinfected. I wouldn’t be so upset at my kids getting sick at a play place because it happens often but the fact that this experience was so bad to begin with irritated me even more. The owner wouldn’t allow outside food or desserts because of “cleanliness”. I truly believe it is because he wants to rip people off with the ridiculous prices. After learning about these rules, I asked for a refund for my deposit because I thought it was ridiculous to have to serve parents nothing but pizza and Walmart cupcakes and so that’s when he called me and added chicken tenders (with no sauce of course) and allowed for us to bring her “sheet” birthday cake instead of purchasing his 4 inch $10 birthday cake for a party of 16 kids. I was given a hard time when the sheet cake turned out to be a one layer cake that his staff were not “trained to cut”. The most ridiculous excuses I’ve ever heard in my life but I kept smiling because it was my daughters birthday and didn’t wanna get into it. Finally he agreed to let us cut the cake, and charged $25 dollars for them to cut the cake which is fine. I’m not at all upset about money, more upset at the bad experience. After less than an hour of playing, he turns off the tights in the play area and closes it off so they can sing happy birthday, eat and pretty much leave. It was very annoying being rushed to feed two babies especially when the birthday girl just wanted to play. No one really enjoyed themselves, the coffee was weak, tasted like water. We had an “open bar” and I think he should have better coffee. His food selection is limited due to cleanliness as he said, it doesn’t feel like a party, it was very weird, his staff was picking up toys as kids were dropping them, it really was strange he wanted everything placed back the moment the child leaves it and so you had the employees watching the kids and waiting for it. In the end we ended paying close to 800 dollars for 2 hours and we felt like we got robbed. All in all, I wouldn’t go back, I wouldn’t spend my money there again and I would not recommend this place.
