Got the sugar free chilled vanilla latte and a set 1 breakfast (ham, eggs, bacon & croissant) & mimosa. The coffee was great! The eggs were tasty with the cheese. The bacon was crispy (too crunchy for me). The ham was okay. The croissant was the best & the mimosa was pretty good. The service was great.
First time eating there. Nice place. I love Murphy Street and really enjoyed being out with a friend for some lunch and people watching. 4 stars only because the panini was hard as a brick and tasted burnt but salad was really good and service was friendly and helpful. A little pricey but totally worth it for being out on a beautiful day. Picture is charming little street art.
Luv this place and the wonderful owners that I have known for many years. A great place to have a snack or meal or just a lattee and to think about your next great venture, the point of your life, decluttering your home and everything else or nothing at all.
Nice cozy place. Excellent service and food. Nice to hang out or have a good conversation.
Great service. Cozy atmosphere. Yummy food.
Since moving to Sunnyvale, Bean Scene instantly became a favorite. Staff that feels like family first and foremost. Always friendly, attentive and make you feel right at home. Also and equally important - everything thing Ive ordered from mochas, coffee, sandwiches, and desserts have been fantastic. My family has taken to stopping in four treats and drinks and everything is always made with cake. Very much recommend you supporting local and stopping in to try it!
For specialty coffee/third wave enthusiasts - just avoid entirely unfortunately. The espresso shots are very poorly pulled and use extremely dark beans. Even if you’re a fan of dark roasts, it will be a very poor experience. I will say though, the service is very good and the employees were super nice.I’ll give this place extra points for the variety of things that they serve and wouldn’t harsh on it too much considering that it doesn’t try to sell itself as a speciality joint. I will also say that the boba I got here was really poor as well unfortunately. If you come here to chill and work/study, I’m sure it works well.
Theyre letting people sit inside! Spacious, plenty of outlets, good breakfast and drink items. Did not leave there reeking of coffee from my pores like some other places. My new fav coffee shop to work at.
Plenty of parking, great vibe, fresh menu, free WiFi. Indoor and outdoor seating. Better than Starbucks, support your local business!
ORGANIC COFFEE :-)))) Family run Coffee Shop. Good Service -- they are always thinking about their customers. Kenny and his team are the best!Truly decent people. He contributes to the local food service workers and gives them a discount. He now has an App too with rewards :-)))))
I love this little local place where the furniture is mismatched and comfy and it feels like your grandparents kitschy stuff. Theyve got great coffees and lots of tasty small bites and sweet nibbles. Theres no reason not to eat local when youve got a great option like Bean Scene.
Great coffee shop to hang out at, perfect vibes. The brewed coffee and food are so so
Nice coffee shop downtown Sunnyvale. Opens early enough, tables outside, no car traffic.
Milk in the cappuccino was burnt. Cant heat milk up too much or the fat breaks down and it tastes awful. Also, there arent 3 sizes of cappuccino. Guy taking my order was rude when I asked what the three sizes were.Dont buy espresso drinks here unless you want to be disappointed.
The club sandwich was great but my mocha was incredibly bitter and undrinkable. We wont be returning
Limited vegetarian options. Good place to sit and work.
Nah... would not try again. 35 minutes for a breakfast omelet and a slice of toast. When pointed to the delay, a very dry which was never meant sorry for the wait was offered! And I left scratching my head thinking about the 21% tips I left while paying expecting a great service!
Great coffee and excellent service! There burnt almond cake is great and the cafe has a great atmosphere. So glad they were able to open up outside on Murphy. This place is a staple in Sunnyvale and its ran by kind and attentive people. Will def miss it when we move.
Great pastry and food options. Burnt almond cake and guava cake are awesome.
A DTSV staple, their coffee is always good and their food is even better
So nice to walk into, very sad we cant sit inside. But outside, Murphy is closed to vehicular traffic and has benches to sit and enjoy your coffee plenty of distance from other benches.
Delicious food and coffee and friendly staff!
Great local coffee shop with options for coffee, tea and some baked goods
Good iced no sugar cappuccino. Great hot ham and cheese. The outdoor seating is nice with Murphy street being closed.
Rich quality expresso, friendly and courteous staff
Love their teas, not too pricey. I like the mango black ice tea and the coconut black ice tea. Wish there was a larger size.
Pretty decent chai - love that they use David Rio. They can be a little heavy handed at times though with too much milk considering the amount of chai mix used, but much better than many places Ive been too lately. Cute place and seems like a great place to work. Love the location in downtown Sunnyvale along Murphy Ave.
Always great place for coffee
Cafe au lait is the best. Great food too!
Really good local coffee shop! Im pretty picking about my lattes and I really like theirs. I recommend adding some almond syrup to make it even more tasty
Best and freshest pastries ever !
Great atmosphere. Its a great place to meet up with someone or to enjoy your own company. I didnt try the food this time around, but I got a delicious hot chocolate. I love that it came in a real mug instead of a throwaway cup. There are some spots on the street, but I parked in a lot nearby and had no trouble finding parking. I plan to return soon so I can try a crepe!
Coffee here is a great way to get the day started, they sell whole beans and you can choose your favorite grind and type of coffee beans. I give the coffee and atmosphere 5 stars, customer service 5 stars, covid19 prepared 5 stars
Another gem of a place in Sunnyvale downtown if youre looking for a peaceful morning coffee and breakfast. Their bagels are worth trying out for sure. The latte is one of the top lattes Ive had. The ambiance is good as well, if youre someone who appreciates art.
Very cozy, traditional sort of coffee shop. Great coffee and food. It gets pretty lively on the weekends but there is good service even during peak hours.
Homey and Comfortable.
Nice coffee and mugs. Food is a little pricey.
The large in this place is really large. They also use earthenware mugs that feel very nice and have excellent crepes on the menu. There is a reasonable amount of seating and rest room availability. Service is fast and friendly although prices are on the high side (but then, this is the bay area). They accept electronic payments and credit cards and have good vegetarian options.
Great place to hang out with friends. the owner, Ken and his staff are very friendly. People come in and out, or just sit to enjoy the coffee and pastries. They have outdoor seating too which is nice specially during the summer when the Farmers Market is there. we always meet people there that we know. they also have couch and coffee table, and some magazines, if you are alone and want to read something with your coffee
Very good service. Always friendly employees. The only place I know of that carry the packaged wheat free Heart Thrive Oat Bars. They are a little pricey but worth it.
The owner Ken is awesome but his staff is not up to par. My wife and I came here today and they treated us like we were an inconvenience to them. Just one of the worst service weve ever received in an establishment.
Best coffee around
Regret missing the place all this while! Cozy cafe to grab a coffee, have a quick bite of breakfast and get some work done. Even more lucky youre if you get a seat with a street view! Friendly staff, quick service, great food and coffee.
Went to a Comedy Show there. Great fun, nice atmosphere. Nice pastry treats
One of my favorite coffee shops in the area. I like to support small local businesses, and it helps when its a place with good food and good service. The staff here are always nice. Prices are reasonable for the area. Free WiFi. Good atmosphere for working or catching up with a friend.I usually get the hazelnut latte, and its always delicious. If you say its for here, theyll even make it in a real coffee mug for you, which is a nice touch. Ive tried a few food items from the menu, too, and those have also been delicious.
Very lovely place. Staff are friendly and food is good. Plenty of coffee choices and places to sit with a laptop. Give a Collette a try. I had the red peppers and it was fluffy, light and filling. Yum!
There is a comfy cozy feel to this place and the atmosphere gives you small town feel in the middle of a big city. The place is located on the historic row of Sunnyvale which added to the charm of this cafe. The coffee is very well made and the barista was very friendly. I did not try any of the food but it looked amazing and I plan to try it next time I am in the area.
Fun place. The coffee is good and a good selection of snacks. It’s right in the center of Murphy Street, so nice place to hang out and work.
Pretty nice place. The coffee was great, the breakfast crepe not so much - too salty.Place works just fine for coffee, but I wouldnt recommend it for breakfast.
Nice ambiance. Comfortable and friendly. Breakfast food mediocre.
TLDR: The best in an area with no good options, but they obviously know it and dont try very hard. This place is tolerable if you really need to go to a cafe in Sunnyvale, but by any broader standards its pretty lousy. They have almost no pastries and very minimal tea selection (I havent had the coffee). The food is OK, but portions are on the small side for the price. Theres rarely much free seating, though the seats are incredibly uncomfortable anyway, and there are very few power outlets. The one thing it had going for it is a nice, relaxed atmosphere thats otherwise unavailable at a coffee shop in the area.
Nice local coffee shop with some yum breakfast options.I like that all their mugs are different. It makes the place more homey.
Great place for some interesting coffee flavors. Ive had a few of their desserts which are also yummy. Staff is always friendly and work quickly.
Go to cafe in downtown sunnyvale. friendly people making my day. :)
Very cozy place to grab coffee and do work. There are plenty of tables and there are outlets available along the walls. The area can get busy around lunchtime so parking can be a bit hard to find.
Not so great tasting lattes.
Very low-key and relaxed! I like that its somewhat dimly lit and not a fluorescent nightmare like other coffeeshops. The staff is the best, always happy to adjust the sweetness of the drinks for me. Service is quick! Theres a fancier place down the street, but this one makes better tasting drinks, and theres always a good amount of seating.
Great mocha and they now have oatmilk!
Great coffee, good light breakfast options, and the service is excellent!
Nice cafe with outdoor seating during covid.
Great coffee with friendly service from Kenny! 👍♨️
Cute little coffee shop with good service. I had gotten a cold drink that tasted a lot like melted coffee ice cream......YUM! They also serve ice cream. There is plenty of seating in the dining area. Its a great place to wait for a table at Dish Dash.
Plenty of of outside seating. Fast service.
Banana Nutella crepe was really good and so was Walnut-Spinach salad. Clean place and presentation of food was good. Pancakes could be better.
Good latte with layering of coffee aftertaste. Refreshing atmosphere! Cute antique chairs.
A cozy place to hang out, eat and have some excellent crafted coffee beverages. The coffee is exceptionally good. There are sandwiches, pastries and ice cream. Can get crowded
Poor espresso that lacked crema. Sort of felt like Id ordered a demitasse cup of Folgers. The person who took my order was very unfriendly and quiet. Perhaps it was an off day?
Strong coffee, tasty snacks, great staff. What more is there to say! Their coffee mugs are generous, although there is a charge for refills, so if you plan to have a long study or work session here be prepared. They actually let me pay for a refill ahead of time on my first purchase so I didnt have multiple charges for the same location. They offer Gelato as well which is very tasty! I cant speak for their blended drinks, but their coffee selection is always varied and plentiful. Overall this place is a fantastic cafe for those looking for a nice small town feel!
Cozy neighborhood atmosphere, there are people chatting, playing board games, soft music, the place is full but not too loud. Had a chai latte that was good. Great place to come and hangout with friends or alone with a book.
Open early Sunday. Nearby parking. Central location. Good place 😀
Nice cafe, not a bean scene, coffee is average.
Laid back café, great to grab a quick breakfast, get some work done; if youve time to spare, grab a seat overlooking Murphy Avenue and easily get lost in thoughts, with a cappuccino! Crêpes were filling and reasonably priced. Best place to hangout around Sunnyvale Downtown.
Friendly low-key neighborhood coffee shop with yummy cakes.
Met a date here and enjoyed the tea selection and friendly staff. Ill have to come back to try their espresso. Somewhat hidden in plain sight, I got it mixed up with the one on the opposite corner. Parking can be tough at times but theyre are several lots nearby.
Great service. Only was there for a few days and it didn’t take long before he knew my order.
Love their cappuccino and pastries!! Love much more the atmosphere! Its a must of my weekends breakfast! On Saturday its even better because of the farmers market.
I hadent been there for years, but went there a couple of days ago to meet someone. I ordered an espresso and what I got was this big cup, almost like a bowl, of thick rich coffee. Im not sure what they gave me because it was about $3 so it was not an espresso but man it sure hit the spot.I didnt check over the menu because I was concentrating on my meeting but it doesnt seem to have changed much in 10 years and they always had interesting things on the menu, like the gritty kitty, a sort of iced coffee/milk drink with coffee beans ground up in it.This place has been around forever. 10+ years ago I remember a guy telling me the during the dot-com run-up there was a sign on the wall saying no talk under a million dollars lol.
I really enjoy going to this place when Im in town. The service is excellent and the coffee is quite good.
Coffee is decent. Skip the cooked food except for the bagles.
Good cup of coffee/latte/cappuccino etc. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. I had a breakfast bagel which tasted very fresh.
I really like the $5 egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The coffee and kitschy mugs are great. The furniture is on the stiff side.
This place has a signature, a spirit and personality! Loved the menu! Awesome hot chocolate and cookies
