Over all a good door company. I wish they would pay a little more attention to the builds it seems on some of the doors they look a bit rushed! Attention to detail is what ineould like to see!
This review will be the same as the other one star reviews. Poorly constructed product, horrible customer services. Our front door doesnt latch without the dead bolt. It came with 3 significant scratches on 2 of the 3 windows and a the third is clearly warped. We initially bought this through Lowes pro installer services and its been nothing but a nightmare trying to get this thing fixed. I finally had to make a scene and go into Lowes and then make a demanding call to Codel directly in order to get them to even look at it. There is a good chance that we will be purchasing another door after a full refund from Lowes and buying door from a reputable manufacturer and have it installed by a reputable contractor. The only reason this company has 3 stars is that employees are coming on here to give it 5 stars. Take those reviews out and you have yourself a 1-2 star door company. Take note, youve been warned. Dont work with this company.
Do not buy from codel. QC is dismal at best. If any defect is not visible from 5 ft it is not warrantable. The fitment and finish is not any better than the off brand doors. If I could give 0 stars I would. 5k for a door that has 2 of 3 pieces of glass defective, large defect inside the glass right at eye level when entering and a sidelight is scratched. The prehung door with sidelights was hitting hard on the door frame. Had to recess top 2 hinges 1/4 inch and shave another 1/8th inch of door slab itself at top corner. It is damn near touching the door frame on both sides. Lower corner seal had to be removed because of its to tight to the door it got pushed out. I tried to get them to come out and look at it they say any defect not visible from 5 ft is not warrantable didnt even look at it in petson. Just assumed from the pictures. What a bunch of A-holes. Hopefully they go under soon. The cheap off brand doors from h.d. will serve you just as well or better than these things. Dont think your going to get a nice quality door.
Our door is just at two years old and the mill posts are warped. When I contacted Codell they came out and said they would replace them. Well the came out with the wrong part after waiting over 4 weeks for the part. They have the worst customer service that I have seen in a long time. Very hard to get ahold of a person. Well wen they said that they had the new and correct part and we scheduled an install date I was contacted the day before the install and was told that once again they had the wrong part and would have o get another one made.So I am still waiting on the part to get made. They have only talked about replacing the mill posts and no the complete door which is a front door with two side lights. I told them that most likely the door has faded and the new parts will look out of place. Only time will tell I now have to wait longer for them to make the new parts. It would seem that if there was a problem someone would be in charge to make sure that it was corrected timely. If I had to eat another door I would pay the extra money and get a good reliable company such as Anderson.Again Cordell has the worst customer service. The product is also not weary well made.
So my door just got installed today... Ill update if theres ever a problem... But theres nothing wrong that a tiny dab of touch-up paint cant fix. Im in love with this door. It looks fantastic!!Update: I made one request of HD to get the touch-up paint from Codel... its being sent overnight to my house. Cant ask for better service than that. Every time I touch my door, Im just thrilled with the quality and the look.
We ordered our doors four months ago and have yet to receive them or an accurate update. Theyve delayed delivery twice - both two weeks.
Just like several others pointed out, the quality of the product and warranty service is terrible. I have spent months trying to get them to inspect the defects on their doors (photos attached). It has been like pulling teeth, with constant delays. I suggest you dont deal with them -- waste of money and time. See photos.
We purchased a modern door with three panels of glass at the price of nearly $3000. A few minutes after it was installed, we noticed that the glass inserts are not level. The top is straight, but the middle tilts 1/2 inch one way and the bottom glass panel tilts the opposite way. 3 weeks ago, we were told that we would be contacted and that they were sending a rep out. When we contacted the company directly, they instructed us to work with them through Home Depot, where the door was originally purchased. We are waiting to list our home for sale, and this is holding us up. Do not purchase a door, especially with glass inserts, from CodelUPDATE: We had contacted Home Depot, and they said they would follow up with Codel. Two weeks after contacting Home Depot again, we received an email from Codel, scheduling service for Nov 19th. The service man was able to square up the window inserts. The frames around the window inserts no longer fit tightly up against the surface of the door on the exterior of the door, but the windows are square and level. Of course, we didn’t notice the small gap until after the repair man had left. There’s no cold air coming through, but we don’t consider the repair to be complete. We will be taking photos and contacting Home Depot again. My initial rating was 1 star, and I have revised it to 3 stars.
My Husband has worked there for a while now & they definitely treat their employees favorably.Best healthcare & benefits along with a promised 30 & 90 day review when you start & they’re very abundant with their raises; which are very easy to come by when you show that you’re a hard committed worker.
Full disclosure I sell Codel doors as the Millwork Specialist for the Home Depot in Warrenton, OR. They have top quality doors in the mid price range for both interior and exterior doors. I really like the fact that they are made in Tacoma, WA.
Shop around if you have the chance theres superior products at comparable pricing. Do yourself a service and go here as a last option
3K for a new front door buys you an ongoing nightmare. My new front door arrived without a second hole for a deadbolt although I had purchased a deadbolt along with the door (unbelievable!) Also, one side light window was blown and the door had white primer showing through the dark brown paint in multiple places! It took a number of phone calls to get my repairs scheduled. The tech (5 stars for him) fixed the sidelight and drilled the deadbolt hole...but then there was an issue with the deadbolt! Of course I have to work with a different company (Frank Lumber and Hardware) who put in the order for my door, to resolve that issue...3 months after my new door being installed...still no working deadbolt! I have been told that maybe they can get to it in June.I finally gave up and hired a locksmith.
Cheap door and terrible warranty service, Door wasn’t even a year old, used expensive blue 3M painters tape on it for two days and upon removing it the paint peeled off in several places. Contacted company about the warranty. After taking weeks to respond to our claim they denied it and said it was because of the tape. 3M tape is some of the best masking tape you can buy and it was on for two days.Read everyone’s reviews they are garbage doors and the companies warranty is a joke.
DeBell Home Improvement used to be a distributor for this door, to put it most simply. One of the doors that we installed has warped and is severely leaking, so the proper channels were used to request support. Nothing was done for months; then finally Codel responded and repeatedly asked for pictures, which were sent. They refused to send out their own crew for an evaluation. DeBell discovered that a Codel analysis is REQUIRED to move forward. Not only have they inconvenienced us time wise, but they have compromised our good name. More importantly, our valued customer has paid good money for a door that is obviously defective. Water pools from the warping inside their home, sunlight enters through the higher defective areas in the door, and the cold winter wind comes right through the closed door. It is unacceptable to require ANY customer to jump through hoops when the company already knows that they themselves need to evaluate the status. I can understand the initial request for pictures; however, the constant requests for additional information serves no purpose but to delay any accountability and create an indescribable amount of frustration. I have left a message with a manager with no response. I am running my own business; I dont have time to run theirs.
I have my own door and window service and installation company in Portland. We just received a prefinished smooth fiberglass door from Codel. It’s a nightmare! I can’t believe they released this out of their shop. The door has 8 panels and the paint is bubbled and uneven and jagged in the joint where each panel meets the door. There is no excuse for this! I paid $450 for a factory paint job but could have done better with a rattle can.Now I have to reinstall the old door, explain to my customer, spend time taking pictures and lodging a complaint, time writing this review, reschedule the next door installation, wait 4 to 6 more weeks and then maybe get a good door. So frustrating. My theory is that we need more marijuana stores, like several in each block, so the painters and quality control people at this factory can do better work. For more info on the homeless and drug problems in the Seattle area where this factory is close to, watch the you tube video “Seattle is Dying”.
I ordered my Codel door through Home Depot. I was not sure what I wanted, other than a leaded glass door. The manager, suggested this company and said that it “was his favorite.” We chose a door and it was ordered. The door arrived and CTI (the installers for HD in my area) called to schedule. It took a while as I work and all of the weekends were booked. Finally, the day came. I was excited and nervous all at the same time. I could see the door was in, so I walked around the back of the house to the front so I could see it. It was stunning, however the glass was not straight. The two installers looked at me like I had two heads. They stepped back and looked and told me that I had a really good eye. So, here it starts. I contacted HD who in turn contacted Codel, who wanted to send out a warranty tech to “shim” my brand new door. I told them that this was unacceptable and I wanted a new door. A poor manufacture is NOT a warranty issue.I wrote a letter to HD and Codel and it was agreed that a new door would be sent. Now this saga continues for 6 months. I received a total of 4 doors and I will say, one door was damaged by HD, it was hit by a forklift. A warranty tech also came out to look at the original door because that is what Codel wanted and HD was stuck. The warranty tech said that there was no way to fix the crooked glass as it was off 3/8” and there was no adjustment. So, I finally got a door and it was perfect, for 6 months that is.6 months later the door will not close/latch. I happened to run into the manager at HD and told him I had to call Codel. He told me that the first year was covered by HD. Cool. Not really. The installers (CTI) would not come out, because the door that was installed was not the door that came in the original frame. Codel said that it is because the house has shifted/settled, weather. Please note, the previous door had been there since the 70’s with NO issues (it was my parent’s home previously). I live in Cali and the door is under a covered porch. You have got to be kidding me?! So, the manager asked if my contractor could fix it?! It was something about it not being plumb and he knew exactly what the problem was.He did and it is now perfect again, but I’m not sure for how long or what will happen if there is another issue.I will say that HD refunded me the money for the door and did reimburse me for the out of pocket money I put into the door repair. I still paid $1200 for the install and had a lot of stress and frustration during this time. They (HD) did everything that they could possibly do to make things right and I will say while I was not happy and frustrated I kept my cool.I would NEVER buy another door from this company, nor would I recommend you do so. Codel is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to do business with.I have since purchased a Feather River door for the back of my house through HD and had my contractor install it. HD was generous in giving me a discount, and it too is stunning, but up and beautiful in a couple of days.BEWARE!
PAY ATTENTION TO THESE RECENT REVIEWS...I wish I had. Spent thousands of dollars for new CODEL doors for my home and have had nothing but issues from the very start. The workmanship and quality of their product is poor and there were issues with installation from day one. Door handles were uneven and locks were not functioning properly and now, SEVEN MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL INSTALL, the glass panels and framing in the doors are sliding and coming apart. The warranty tech that arrived today to perform the repairs even admitted he is seeing a lot of these cases and more than likely it will happen again soon after he completes his repair. This from the mouth of their warranty tech!I never write reviews but I felt compelled to do so today. Not only did I spend a lot of money on this project, but it took a tremendous amount of time and effort on my part to get them to address the problems and a lot of time off work to accommodate their limited appointment hours for warranty work. What was anticipated to be a beautiful enhancement to my home has been a nightmare. I intend to lodge a complaint with the BBB. Do yourself a favor...find another supplier.
Our door is beautiful, seals nicely with quiet but solid seal that can be heard. No more drafts or issues period with the good solid installation. I couldn’t be happier
I am a general contractor. I recently bought 3 Codel doors for jobs. Two French Doors and a Dutch door. The Dutch door would not function. Codel sent a rep out to look at it and initially the rep disparaged the installation. After discussion with my installers he decided it was not that and they ended up replacing both upper and lower slabs to make the doors close and align with each other. One of the French doors had so much silicone smeared on the face of the glass panels and door faces it took over 1 1/2 hours to clean it off. (I have pictures I would be happy to share.)The other door, besides having the same issue, came out with a gap between between the threshold and jamb. (Again, I have pictures.) I was told to shim the jamb in to close the gap. If it would work this would just pinch the door reveal between door and jamb at the bottom. But it wont, the threshold is cut short. Both French doors also have an approx. 3/8-7/16 gap between doors.Overall, I am greatly disappointed that 3 out of 3 doors have problems and feel the quality control is lacking. These doors should not have left the factory like this.
Been using this product for years, since they have been bought out and changed there fiberglass slabs every single door I have gotten either has EXTREMELY poor quality with stains all over the doors. or they have all warped and been denied warranty this company cost me over 10.000 dollars in the last 6 months with products I have had to replace out of my own pocket... so sad to see them go down hill as all I have been using for years is codel and selling allot of them my entire show room is codel products I have tossed out back with a free sign on them.very upset and disappointed customer and even more sad to see a good thing go down in flames so quick Ill miss your staff and awesome quoting software
This Entryways manufacturer is of the highest quality standard most all doors are hand completed and finishing is imperative.
Craftsmanship stinks. They do not stand by their product. Do not buy from these crooks.
Terrible leadership. Terrible sales and service. Terrible from top to bottom. If you can go somewhere else to save a penny on your doors......DO IT. I would give them 0 stars...but that is not an option.
Very costly experience, almost two years trying to deal with resolve trim vs sealant issue.
I am disappointed with the customer service. The Codel door we got had a scratches and a film color on the window. It took me a while to get Codel to come out and do a warranty repair. Customer services Jessica was not very responsive the first time around. Then the guy came to replace the window on July 7 and he discovered that the replacement window was defective too. He said he would would have to come back to replace it. Now it is July 26th and nobody has responded to my attempts to contact them.
Love this store, owner is extremely helpful and pleasant
