Weve purchase too many yards of fabric to count from this staple of Tempe, SAS Fabrics. Youll want to go frequently as their stock does rotate out regularly. Youll find huge variety of fabrics: upholstery, blends, cotton prints, plastic, outdoor, knits, faux fur, corduroy, and the like. You will not find silk. The prices cannot be beat. If you look long enough or thoroughly enough -- youll probably find what you need. Additionally, they have high quantities of notions that a ton of fun to sort through. Go there and get inspired.

I frequented this store often when I was in grad school twenty years ago. I’m in town and absolutely thrilled to see it’s still open and cannot wait to go! I can spend hours in there and I recommend to all creative people. Prices are great, too.

First time visiting. SAS has an amazing amount of fabrics, buttons, patches, panels. Good resource for interior design students and quilters.

Cannot beat the fabric selection, notions, price and customer service. What they lack are tools and more specialized implements like magnetic fasteners or rotary cutters, etc.However, that is not the focus of this store. Appreciate the attentive and helpful staff.

This place is a good place to go if you want more unique fabric, ribbon, etc choices and very reasonable prices! But it wasnt organized enough for me, they had some categories but most of it was just piles of random fabric. Yes, I get customers arent always courteous when it comes to organization while they shop and will just set stuff wherever. But they should be a limit on how organized it is because I believe it would definitely sell your fabric much faster! I would come back if I wasnt looking for anything in particular but its too much to sift through everything to find what I want exactly. Help you take my suggestions, thanks for reading!

I love the fabric selection here! Some of it isnt very organized, but there is such a treasure trove that it doesnt matter.

Extremely poor customer service. The lack of respect for other people is appalling. Some people need to learn how to talk and associate with others, the older man with the white mustache needs to learn some manners before you place him at the front of the store.

This is always a treat. I love combing through the items for sale here. Beautiful fabrics and trims at bargain prices. Staff is helpful. Im not much for sewing but I cant wait to do something with the trim I got today.

SAS is my go-to for beautiful quilting and apparel fabric. Theyve got a great selection of mask-making supplies right now in addition to their usual offerings. I can always count on finding random great deals on crafting items, too. (Today I got a long pair of light-up knitting needles for 99¢!)

This is a creators heaven. They have eveything from cotton to lether. Buttons to brackets . the people are very helpful.

They were great today. I brought my niece and nephew to pick out fabric for me to make them clothes and the employees were very helpful with finding my 3-year-old niece green dinosaur fabric.

Pros - Wide variety of fabric. Cons - Unfriendly staff and a list of rules a mile long on what you can and cannot buy. Want a small quantity of fabric? Not the store for you. First, their minimum cut is a half yard. Fine, that’s not typical, but fine. BUT they also force you to purchase any length remaining that is less than 2 yards. Only need half a yard? Too bad, you have to pay for 2 and a quarter if that’s what’s left. Or you cannot buy it.Where are these rules? Clearly posted where the yardage is? At the entrance to the store? Nope. There’s a poster board with about a dozen rules near the cutting area. Facing AWAY from the entrance.And please don’t mention your project to the miserable and disinterested staff. The most I’ve seen in response to a customer excitedly explaining their project was a grunt and an eyeroll. You want help finding anything in the store? You won’t get it. Maybe a gesture in the general direction if you’re lucky.It’s too bad, because they really do have a great variety of fabric. Just be prepared for an awful experience and to purchase a wasteful amount more than you need or want.

Good but could not find all I came for

There are 10 people waiting to have fabric cut with 6 employees chatting a lot while working in an extremely slow manner. No care in the world, no sense of trying to be quick, just living at one speed, slower than slow. When I mentioned to the employee of the line, he got an attitude and said what do you want me to do about it? I walked out, never had this problem at the phoenix stores.

If you love fabric buttons and zippers is a seamstress gold mine..

This place is a treasure box. Neat helpful inspiring sales staff...and this place never disappoints when looking for something special or specific. Its a bit of a rummage but our recent last trip we really enjoyed the help we got finding exactly what we needed and added bonus was three to four helpers fanning our enthusiasm for the project. Thanks you guts! You made it an awesome mother daughter trip! If youre hesitating looking for just that one fabric-ey special something at a great price and think it might be at SAS...just hop over asap. Its probably right there.

Our first stop was a chain fabric (J*A***) store and we could not believe the price gouging. For shame. They have lost my business forever. I remembered SAS. It happened to be close by and we found exactly what we needed for a fantastic price. We got a whole roll of fabric for almost what the other place wanted for one yard!This place has it all and deserves a look from anyone who needs material.

Decent prices though sometimes cotton prints are cheaper at Joanne. Always a weird selection but interesting to shop at. Old man (Im old so Im calling him out) behind the counter is a crab apple. Never pleasant, impatient, cranky.

Be prepared to spend time to hunt for what you are looking for

My first visit on recommendation from local seamstress. Too much too take in on one visit BUT they have everything from thread to very high quality lace and velvets. Staff is so helpful and courteous. This is my first stop when shopping for my sewing needs. Prices are unbelievable. Go here, you will love it.

This is a hidden gem in the heart of Tempe. I have been shopping here since 1994. The staff is helpful and there is a wide range of fabrics at different price points. Now, you MUST be willing to dive a little and be willing to wait a little for help. As an avid sewing hobbyist, I appreciate a bargain on fabric, especially now. Drop in to find a wide range of fabrics, notions, and other materials.

Very cool store. Fabric for anything you could ever want, and more. Lots of random things. Lots of unique fabrics and patterns. Youll never get bored in this store.

Very poor ventilation. The customers were lined up using social distance as much as possible but IN THE REAR OF THE STORE. Customers were masked but the line was so long, I and others could not wait. Place the line near the door so that the customers can breathe and purchase the wonderful items found there.

This place was recommended to me by a few people so I was extremely disappointed with my experience there on Saturday. It was my first time there and while I found the fabric I was looking for, the check out part was very rude. I did not realize there is a section that weighs your item before moving on to the cashier and was rudely told by this older man (maybe in his 70s) that works there that I need to get my fabric weighed. I let him know that I was waiting for the cashier for that. At that point he starting talking down to me asking if the fabric I was carrying was mine, I told him no and that I was trying to purchase it. He then condenscendingly told me to go the line to get it weighed before going to the cashier. He never greeted me or even smiled, also, he was not properly wearing a mask (I know because I was able to view his full mustache and beard). Not only is he endangering clients, he is also a very misearable man. You could tell the clients as well as his co-workers were all embarrased and tense. I decided to de-escalate the situation and thanked him for his help and he just ignored me. When I finally got to the cashier, I asked for his name, she said she could not provide names of the people working there. She then said she would let the manager know. In times of a pandemic, he should be nicer and grateful that he still has a job. Though that place could really use someone with better customer skills that makes the place more welcoming to clients. I will NOT be going back due to this experience. When I left the store, one of the clients was waiting for me and she told me that what the man working there did to me was rude and unacceptable. I thanked her, let her know I told the cashier and that I would add a review and encouraged her to do the same. Hopefully he is taught some customer service skills or gets fired. Evil, miserable people like that should not be the face of your company. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or would like more information regarding this.

They have really good prices and some cool fabric but you have to dig. The organization gives me anxiety every time I go there. Usually dont buy fabric there unless its something I cant find anywhere else because I dont want to search. They have a lot of Notions that are easy to find and pricing is the best in this area. Two women that were working when I went are kind of rude very short with their answers very unpleasant. The guy that usually is stocking and has a red beard is awesome and very helpful. Always asks if you need help finding anything.

Its a smaller location but still has a good variety of fabrics. Staff mostly keeps to themselves but are very helpful and friendly if asked for help.

SAS has always been my comfy place. I could stay all day shopping. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Genuine smiles! No plastic, pasted on smiles. Shoppers are happy and talkative as well, making it an extra pleasant experience.

Many fabrics to choose from. Maybe i went too late in the evening (close to closing time). As much as i hate to say it, I feel as though i was met with some slight prejudice...

I go here for most of my fabrics. They have fabrics you can find nowhere else. However if you get Rose she is very curt and sometimes downright rude. That woman never has a smile on her face. Everybody else is very nice and courteous but she screams at people and its not cool. Other than that I really like shopping here.

This place is a hidden gem. Ive been going here for years and it has only improved. If you love to get inspired by your fabric, this is the place to go. Its a little bit more difficult to go to this place when you already have an idea in mind, however, so expect to do a lot of digging, and expect to spend a good amount of time here. I never go in for just a quick trip, I always find something new and exciting to be inspired by. The best part: the prices.

Fun place to get fabric. Good prices fun to see so much fabric all sitting on the racks in rolls. Organization is a bit loose but that makes the hunt more fun. Remember to line up at the pink line for cutting table.

Loved this place. Came in just for buttons but couldnt help myself. The prices were fair, and wonderful customer service from a Rose I didnt quit catch her name. I heard someone call her by that. So I could only assume it was her name. LolIt was great.

Needed some upholstery fabric. Found some great fabric for only 3.99 a yard, less than half traditional fabric stores. Staff was friendly and helpful. You never know what they will have, but the prices are always great. A little bit if a line to get fabric cut, but they saw it and called everyone up to help. Always my first stop when I need something.

Best place for fabric! Give yourself at least a half hour because youll have to do some searching and digging through piles. But its 10x cheaper than Joanns and I find unique, quality fabrics and notions every time. Average price is $3-$4 per yard

Love that place... Variety is phenomenal and prices are great..

I go here a lot for satin, lace and trim. They also have a large selection of poly poplin. You never know what youre going to find, but know youll be physically searching. Much of the store is piles of fabric.

Bad customer service and selections :/

No one greeted me when I came in, the entire place looks like a disaster, fabrics barely folded & piled on tables/shelves, kind of reminded me of a garage sale. Also think things were overpriced.

So many fun furs and fabrics! Most of the prices are very reasonable. The staff are wonderful older ladies. The hours arent great but its worth going if you can make it when theyre open.

This place has a selection unlike what you will find other places. The customer service is horrible! I have been here twice in the last 2 weeks to get stuff I cant holger anywhere else, and not only are they not helpful, at all, but they act like they are both annoyed by you and that they are doing you a favor to cut and sell you fabric!

So this was my first time at this establishment today, walked in and asked to use their restroom (9mo pregnant) and the lady I spoke with was so absolutely rude to me I was astounded. She told me to go walk down the street to a fast food restaurant to use their bathroom... Unless you cant find what you need somewhere else its not worth going to, the man there was nice but the rest of the staff was absolutely rude and didnt make me feel welcomed at all. I have better service at Walmart *facepalm* it was also very nice to use their carts for our supplies. Oh wait. There wasnt carts either. Wish I had time to enjoy the store but the death glares and the dire need to pee limited my time there.

Warehouse. Horrible customer service. Staff treats customers like they are intruders. 2 of the items that I purchased were not in my bag.
