Jamie our technician is a true craftsman. Knowledgeable from his years of experience and the quality of his work I would rate him a 10 out of 10. After he left I called the owner to let him know how happy and satisfied we are with the job. In days when finding someone to do the work is hard enough, to find someone as skilled as Jamie is was a blessing. We would highly recommend them to family and friends.

I was very pleased with the installation of my glass pantry door. It was expensive and I was nervous about the whole process. Plus I couldnt find anyone who could install it before February. Handyman Chris came the day after I called. He knew what he was doing and had the door installed and painted in a few hours, and at a reasonable price. I dont know about other employees, but Chris was great...and nice too!

I have a really busy schedule and the folks at American Handyman have been patient, helpful and do their best to work with my schedule each time. Today, Frank spent most of the day working on a doorframe that was eaten by termites and showed up exactly on time and did an amazing job at fixing it. I am over the moon with the overall experience. I had left a message on Sunday evening, and they called me back 1st thing Monday morning. I had a blank slab interior door that needed to be installed. Other companies I called would not install the door because we did not purchase it from them, or they would not return a phone call. We scheduled for Friday. Bill was right on time. This would require a lot of different skills, (plumbing, drywall repair, tile work and painting).They were able to handle it all in one day and I am Thrilled with the result! I don’t understand-when I called to find out their rates, they told me the hourly. I explained that the dresser I had to assemble was almost completely finished and it wouldn’t take more than an hour,... but then I was told I would be charged for their driving time - fine, ... but the guy couldn’t even tell me *where they would be driving *from - it just sounded very dishonest to me. I told them never mind. If you’re going to charge driving time, you have to tell the customer where the driver is coming from and preferably it should be local* I’ve been in a nursing home care before and I have not gotten paid for my driving time. I just couldn’t get a straight answer.

Wish I had seen the Yelp reviews before! Just had a very unprofessional experience with American Handyman Service. Wes, who came out for the job, trashed my place. He didnt clean up after the job, left a plastic cup outside of my house, oil stains on my driveway, and didnt even fix the problems I asked him to fix! To add insult to injury, he told me that I could easily replace the faucet myself, fix the leaking toilet, etc. Isnt that why I called you in the first place? Finding a good service company here is like finding a needle in a haystack. Total waste of money. Hopefully, they will be willing to make this right. UPDATE: One star to three. *Short Version*American Handyman saved me quite a bit of $$$ converting my garage into a Playroom (with Home Theater). The work was completed quickly, professionally, and well under my budget.*Long Version*My wife and I live in a modest sized home, and with the addition of some little ones, we decided to convert our garage into a playroom to add some extra space. I also managed to convince my wife that the kids would really enjoy watching their Disney movies on a 1080p projector, displayed on a 200 inch screen. Im pretty tech savvy but I knew Id need help with building a projector screen and cooling the garage. I had some ideas on how I could accomplish this, which I discussed with American Handyman. He worked up an estimate based on my ideas but also one based on a few suggested changes that would drastically reduce my cost. First, the handyman recommended mounting the projector screen fabric directly to the wall and then finishing the edges with black trim instead mounting a custom pre-built screen to the ceiling. Second, I was considering cooling the garage with a mini-split A/C or running additional duct work from my central unit. I had previously been cooling my garage with a indoor standing unit and running the exhaust out the window. The unit cooled the room well but it looked bad from the outside and I was worried about how easy it would be for an intruder to get in. However, the handymans suggestion to cut intake and exhaust ports in the wall addressed both of my concerns at a fraction of the cost! My kids absolutely love the Playroom and the money American Handyman saved me made it possible to upgrade the hardware for the Home Theater.

The handyman did nice work. Unfortunately, we felt kind of scammed. The owner said we could pay by the hour or have someone come do an estimate. He didnt mention drive time or the rate, BUT we had also mistakenly told him wed talked to him before so some of the miscommunication may be our fault. We thought it was going to be $45 an hour because we actually thought we were talking to a service wed already corresponded with (our mistake) so we chose hourly. In short, we paid for 5 hours for 3.5 hours of work, so our handyman must have lived a really long way way. I ran out to get supplies so I didnt run into that problem that others have noted, but if youre on a budget, this company can get expensive quick. Its just not worth paying the drive time unless you reserve a whole day and have a lot of work. They also seem hesitant to book for a whole day, but I didnt push that very hard.

Robert was our handyman. Rick and I could not be more pleased. Robert is amazing!! Robert is funny, polite and paid close attention to detail. Our kitchen is so wonderful. I have hated my kitchen since we moved in. We were finally able to get this work done and I just love love love it. Robert was able to save us money because he was able to find matching cabinets. I asked for more counter space, more drawers and a open kitchen. Robert delivered!!! I cant express how happy I am.We are going to have him put in our counter tops and floors. I had American Handyman repair my drywall in my bathroom that was damaged from water leaking from the unit above mine. They arrived on time during the time window which was provided which I was very pleased with. The repairman was very polite and professional and explained things very clearly that I could understand. The repairman did a very good job in a timely manner. When the job was done it looked like nothing had ever happened in my bathroom. The cost was very reasonable as well which I was very happy with. Each time, my technician has been courteous and professional, and the pricing has been fair and transparent. I felt compelled to write this review after reading recent negative reviews. I highly recommend American Handyman and I would absolutely call them again for help with future projects.

I have an older house and it can be hard to work on sometimes with the double brick and non-standard measurements. American Handyman Service beautifully installed a new exterior laundry room door for me. I never dreamed it would look so nice, fit perfectly, and also the suggestion of the swing of the door was a great improvement. I have already told some of my friends and will use their services again. Very, very happy with the work!

I had some repairs completed recently by Wes Moore (with his assistant Brad) and I couldnt be more pleased. They were completely professional, did an excellent job (in far less time than I had imagined) and left the area clean and neat. They started on time, had all necessary supplies, and worked diligently until the job was done. Some other companies werent even willing to come out and give me an estimate, but American Handyman Service was cooperative and helpful. I cant recommend them highly enough, and requested business cards to give to my neighbors.

Terrible experience. Had them give a quote for replacing some weathered outside doors. Quote was $663. They delayed work for over 3 weeks. When they came they said it would $150 more since I didnt save old doors which they didnt ask me to. Never would give me a list of materials but charged $182 for what I dont know. Said it was not their policy to provide a list of materials. It is a stretch to call the workmanship shoddy...it was worse. Refused to send out a supervisor to look at the poor workmanship... but send the same worker who only argued. I will never consider using them again

My spouse and I prefer to fix up our house by ourselves, when possible. However, we just hired this company to create a dog door through our cement walls, so we wouldnt botch it or have to buy more tools. Not only did the handyman, Chris Whitington, do a stellar job, he recommended a simple improvement in location that we had not thought about. He was very respectful about limiting debris, worked efficiently, and was both professional and had a warm demeanor.

Originally had an appointment for an estimate scheduled for Monday between 3-5pm. I received a call Monday afternoon asking if they could change my appointment to Wednesday as they had a conflict of scheduling. We agreed to Wednesday at the same time. Later that afternoon I found out that I needed to pick up my daughter from school beginning Wednesday. I called and asked to push back the window to 3:45pm. I was told that they could not accommodate me with the later time. I found this not good customer service as I was willing to accommodate them by moving to a different day due to their scheduling issue . I cannot vouch for their quality of work, but I can truthfully say that I was extremely unhappy with their customer service.

Our handyman Wes diagnosed the issue with our sink within minutes and had the problem fixed in no time. Very prompt and fairly priced. I highly recommend!

We just bought our first home a few months ago and the front door had some major issues. It wasnt stained on the bottom, so it would uptake water and as a result, had warped into more of a potato chip shape. It also wouldnt close properly, had improperly installed hardware, and didnt have weather sealing or a threshold. We bought a new door from Lowes, but needed to have it trimmed, installed, and varnished. Furthermore, we had a lot of questions about other things we may need done around our house. American Handyman Service sent out Chris this morning, and he was absolutely AMAZING! He took all the time needed to trim, install and varnish our new door, as well as to answer all of the questions we had about other things weve noticed around the house. Chris was very professional, personable, and great to work with. American Handyman Service is the greatest! Chris the handyman is the coolest! He helped me replace and fix my broken interior door. He fixed everything from the hinges to installing a custom frame to make it fit to perfection (mobile home interior door). Chris provided the nicest customer service and was really effective. If your anything like me who thinks he knows something about fixing things but in the end makes things worse, call American Handyman Service for all your home fixing needs. They’ll take care of you.

I have relied on American Handyman for many years. They are always honest and reliable, and I can count on them to consistently complete the work efficiently and professionally regardless of whether the job is big or small.

I called American Handyman Service to paint my 10x12 Tuff Shed at the end of August. They send out some guy who did not even have paint equipment with him, so he leaves to go get supplies. I already had the paint, just not a roller and a brush. They bill me for the time he was gone (2 hours) and then he takes 4 hours to paint only the eaves on the Tuff Shed!! I had to go outside and tell him to stop. I get slapped with a $350 bill and now I have to finish to rest of it myself because I thought a licensed contractor was better than this. $350 should have covered painting the entire Tuff Shed.

These guys charged me $120 to fix a screen door which proceeded to come right off the track a week later when I tried opening it. Upon calling them to let them know that the screen was not properly repaired, they argued with me that their work performed on the screen door CANT even be warrantied FOR A DAY AFTER their work has been completed. This is complete NONSENSE!! I truly believe it is because these people are not licensed to be doing the repairs they are offering. I would not recommend them to anyone as they are not reliable & do not guarantee any type of job they perform. They were also 2 hours late on the job.

Robert was right on time, professional, courteous, and completed the multiple items at a quick pace.We are looking forward to having him complete an additional list of projects on this older home that we just purchased. Their rates are fair amd comparable for licensed, bonded and insured service providers. Im delighted to have found them.

A couple of days ago I called American Handyman requesting somebody install a chandelier for me as I recently had back surgery and was unable to do the job myself. I was scheduled for the job to be engaged the very next day and the Handyman showed up at my front door at the exact time promised. He then proceeded to complete the job quickly and efficiently; explaining what he was doing patiently and clearly. I was incredibly impressed with his skill and kindness. His intelligence and intellect were impressive as we spoke on a variety of subjects. I was most pleased to have him in my home completing this project for me; he was obviously of good character and quite the interesting individual! Finally, the cost of the project as completed, was about half the price I had been quoted by several other electricians in the Tucson area... I cannot recommend American Handyman enough and will not hesitate to call them immediately, should I have any other home projects.

Very unprofessional and dishonest! Stay away! Look at other the other negative reviews before calling these guys!!! This company attempted to charge $75+ for an estimate even though we were told in advance that there is no charge for an estimate as is the norm with other companies we have spoke with. We were also provided a quote that was three times the other existing quotes for work and when questioned about the disparity in pricing, the installer grabbed the estimate and angrily stormed out.I would not recommend this company at all and I suspect with such unprofessional and dishonest business practices, they will soon close.

After trying to deal with some other companies I finally found American Handyman Service through Thumbtack. What a relief it was to deal with a professional company instead of the inferior companies that fail to show up, give you a bid or just are rude and incompetent. I dealt with Herb and Eric and they were wonderful from the very beginning. They came out the same day that I called them and had a bid to me within hours. The work performed was outstanding and I was very satisfied with the quality and price. The company cleaned up their mess and left everything tip top. I highly recommend this company and will use them for all my project needs. Trust me, you cant go wrong.

Was charged 50$ initially to tell me that I needed a new faucet, so had to reschedule for new faucet. When charged for payment an additional 25 $ was added as a travel fee. Was never told about the travel fee moreover i thought 50$ for someone to look and tell me that I needed a new faucet was a little steep. Donthe like shady charges. Called and spoke with supervisor and he got very defensive. Poor customer service so customers beware.

I was looking for a roofer on google, pulled up the top 5 star companies and American Handyman came up. Since I also had other odd jobs that needed done I gave them a call and scheduled an appointmen. It was an excellent choice, this company was prompt, courteous, and knowledgable, and they assessed the job, fixed it in the most economic way, without pushing a more profitable solution for them. I am recommending this company to anyone who may need household repairs of any kind to all my freinds and neighbors.

Our handyman is Robert. We have used him 2x now and scheduling our 3rd time to help with several items we needed completed at the house. Robert works very efficiently, explains the details of the work, and is honest on the pricing without any surprises at the end. My husband and I are thrilled with each project he has completed for us. We originally called him out to repair a leaking roof, and after repairing, came under budget and we were able to get our shower fixed too! He has done several smaller projects, from creating an additional electrical outlet, repairing drywall, and installing fixtures correctly, that were previously incorrect. He has saved our family $$$ and will soon be starting on my moms house. Robert is a true asset, thank you!

Service tech almost caused an accident and cut me off in the process

Horrible. Went to get materials, spent an hour getting them. Needed a small piece a plywood got a huge 6 by 2 piece charged us $60 for it, then tried to take it with them! The person they sent had no tool belt so instead of utilizing his time well, went back and forth to his truck (not even exaggerating) 20 times! Then they charges us 30 min drive time fee which was NEVER disclosed to us when making the appointment. When we called and spoke to office/ manager he threatening to hang up on us because we were unhappy with the whole ordeal. He then told us he would credit us some money, but NEVER did. End of story a $300 microwave ended costing us over $200 for really 15 minutes of ACTUAL work. Worse rip off ever. Companies like this give all other small businesses a bad rep!

Called American Handyman to install a viga (stripped pine log) on my back porch. We also had some drywall cracks that needed repair. Chris Whitington showed up as a representative of American Handyman, and he did an outstanding job. The viga had to be notched top and bottom to accommodate the 4X6 beam at the top and the bracket on the bottom. Chris measured two or three times to ensure he had the right dimensions, made the cuts, and it fit perfectly! He repaired the drywall cracks in no time at all. Outstanding work all the way around, and we would hire these guys again in a New York heartbeat! Thanks, American Handyman!

We contacted American handyman for some basic repairs : ie tighten shower faucet handles, attach kitchen cabinet hinge, install a GFI outlet . and replace 2 lightbulbs . We explained that we have had some bad experiences in the past with padding the bill and working too slow . I felt the work should have taken a skilled professional 1-1.5 hours maximum .The gentleman showed up on time and was very friendly . He was able to repair everything but the GFI . That was not a problem since, there is probably a tripped breaker and there wasnt any access .When the bill came, he said he had over 2.5 hours . I told him that was impossible considering how simple the work was . ( Change a couple light bulbs and cabinet door and tighten some shower handles ) He offered to settle it for 1 hour of work, I would have paid 1.5 hours, but accepted his offer .Since I thought they did a good job and gave me a fair price, I called them 3 days later for another job . The owner refuse to do another job for me. He did not believe my constructive criticism about his employee working too slow. I said at $55 a hour, I expected a proficient person who could move through a job .I would not recommend this company to anyone since they do not move through a job the way a professional and skilled person should and their boss or manager is unwilling to accept constructive feedback . I offered another 1/2 hour of work since I was never trying to take advantage of anyone . But they refused . I only wanted a fair price for the work performed .
