Worst prices in town for ammo. Do your research first. Yes, ammo is getting harder to find especially for a decent price, but selling basic JHP rounds for $3 a round is rediculous..... I paid $58 for 20 rounds of .40 S&W PMC - 165gr JHP.You can still EASILY find this same exact ammo for $1 a round from other sources. Also this store doesnt sell firearms anymore, so this store is basically worthless.....

I cannot say enough good things about Ed Chavez at R & A Tactical. After completing Ed s CCW course, I enrolled in his Level One Handgun class. Ed’s professionalism on the range was exemplary and safety first is the rule of the day. He is a conscientious, self-motivated, sense of purpose type individual and his goal is your success. His class starts and ends with safety with the safety theme being continuous throughout the day. As a neophyte to pistols, he consistently made comments either helping me improve my gun handling or paying me a complement such as ‘nice job’. Whether we were drawing from the holster, shooting from the ready position, performing malfunction drills such as stovepipe and double feed malfunctions, or practicing our marksmanship Ed was always right there, calm, cool, and courteous.Ed’s motto at the range is talk a little and shoot a lot, and we shot lot. I personally ran through approximately 230 to 240 rounds fired during this introductory class. We fired two handed and then switched to one hand both strong and weak sides. It is an amazing class, well worth the time and money. If you want trained and trained safely contact Ed.

Outstanding CCW class. Ed is a veteran of both the military and Tucson PD, with 23 years of law enforcement and a lifetime of firearms experience under his belt. He is a skilled instructor who provides concrete examples for his students that clearly present, in detail, the legal complexities and responsibility involved when choosing to exercise their 2nd Amendment right-to-carry. Highly recommended!

Finished Level 1 Carbine class recently, and it is more physical than Level 1 Handgun. To prepare for the class, get familiar with adjusting your sights, practice holding the rifle, and getting up and down from the kneeling and prone positions. The class mentally prepares you for what you could experience in a fire fight, and by the end of the day, you will feel like you were in a fire fight!

I recently took a CCW class at R & A, and I would highly recommend it. The owner Ed Chavez is a very knowledgeable instructor. He being who he is, a retired cop, detective, Second Recon, 2 presidential details. Like I said, very qualified and he gives you such scenarios that really just hit home in that he makes it stick. The class is never boring, I didnt sleep one time in a 5-6 hour class, I dont know about you but that speaks volumes to me. I look forward to picking his brain again real soon, if you have any plans on taking a Concealed Carry class, do yourself and all of your loved ones a favor, GO SEE ED CHAVEZ!!! He is more likely than not to spit a scenario that you can and will relate to, so much so, it could very well save your life!

Earlier today, I dropped by R & A Tactical for the first time to pick up a transfer.Even though I wasnt spending much, Ed (who I believe is the business owner) dedicated a lot of time and effort in explaining the various features of my new firearm, showed me how to disassemble and reassemble it, and even gave me a number of valuable tips on firearm use and maintenance. I was very impressed with his level of knowledge and expertise - something which is often lacking in big box stores.I rarely write a review for a business unless it has proven to be exceptionally bad or good. In my experience, R & A tactical definitely falls in the latter category.I look forward to doing business here again soon.

I have purchased several firearms through their online store. I really dont know why anyone would shop anywhere else. The prices are competitive sometimes well below market and if you live in the Tucson Area very convenient to pick up at the store. I have also used the store as an FFL for purchases from other dealers and his transfer Fees are the lowest in town. The owner is very knowledgeable and aside from a little gruffness that is likely the result of years in the military and in law enforcement, he is very straight forward and honest. They have become my first go to for any special order new purchase and even though their selection of new and used firearms is small in the shop I have also found some bargains and rare finds in there as well. They also provide firearms training which I have not used but based on what I know about the owner you will be instructed by a self defense professional with years of real world experience.

I took a CCW permit class here with Ed Chavez, and it was awesome! Ed was a great instructor for a few reasons. He incorporated humor into the class very well (which made it a lot of fun), he taught the information so that it was easy to understand and apply, he clearly has a vast amount of experience and it really showed during the course, and he really went out of his way to make sure everyone knew exactly how to appropriately complete the application packet we send to AZ DPS in order to receive the permit. I only had to pay $55 for more than 6 hours of Eds time, which is a great deal on the customers end in my opinion. Also, I did purchase a firearm from R and A Tactical fairly recently, and this place has fantastic customer service with some good deals overall. I felt surprisingly comfortable when asking questions here. If I need anything else in the future that I can find here, you can bet R and A Tactical will get my business!

Excellent CCW Class (according to my wife!). I have been wanting to get my wife into a CCW class for some time, but had to find an instructor who my wife would be comfortable with. I have been around, always comfortable with guns, and served time working in law enforcement. My wife is a US citizen, born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, and although bi-lingual, Spanish is her first language. Searched all over Tucson for a bi-lingual CCW instructor, and finally found Ed Chavez. My wife had her class Saturday. It worked out better than my expectations. When she arrived home after her class, she was pretty enthusiastic, and shared with me a lot of what she learned. Im very happy that it was a very good experience for her!

Giving it one star only because I have to.For the past year my son and I have been enjoying competition defensive pistols tournaments together.I had recently purchased him a competition pistol of his own for his B-day.Once he saved up enough money to purchase some much-needed accessories.I sent him down to R&A to have it outfitted with some TruGlo sights.( Sounds simple enough right?)Little did I know that this would be a huge mistake. He was told that they didnt have the sights in stock but they could have them shipped directly to the house and install them for free.(Awesome we can live with that.)So we did just that. The R&A employee ordered the sights from the store computer and had them shipped directly to us.Should have seen the look on the kids face when they came in the mail box. When I had a better look at the package I realized that these sights werent even for the right make as my son shoots a Glock and these were for a Smith & Wesson.(No big deal Ill call them up)After explaining my situation to an employee at R&A they told me that it was my problem, and that I would have to deal directly with TruGlo.(Oh hell no.... Are you out of your freaking mind?)After settling down a little bit and speaking with the owner. He told me that if I brought the sights back to him he would make it right and order the correct ones. But still treated me as if I was in the wrong. And said that they would not order the new ones until we brought them the old ones.At this time what choice did I have we brought the sights back to the store. The owner assured me that he would call as soon as they came in.2 week went by nothing........ I kept getting on to my son to call him find out if the have come in yet. He tells me that everytime he calls nobody answers. Two more weeks went by. So I asked my son again what the hell is going on with those sights? He says Dad Ive been down there 3 times, the store is closed during business hours. So the next day I decided to go to and take a look for myself sure as s*** the store is closed during normal business hours. I waited an hour in 110 degree temperature for the owner to return, this was trip number 6. Once the owner showed up I explain to him what I was there for. He told me that he has had the sights for a couple of weeks and wanted to know why we didnt call him or come to pick them up.... grrrrrrrI was so upset I didnt look at the package until I was down the road.Again the wrong damn sights .. the model number clearly wasnt on the package. So I called him up again and he said that he would make some calls and get back to me, but those sights should fit. After he realized it wouldnt work, he wanted me to bring the sights back again.I told him to write my name, number, and the correct model number of the sights down, when they come in I will bring the other sights to the store to swap them for the correct ones.He said NO he needs the sights back first before he can order the correct ones.No way will I waste one more minute on this incompetent gun salesman that cant seem to keep a shop open normal business hours.Cant seem to order the right parts the first or the second time.Went down bought my kid a new set of sights from a confident gun dealer took them less than 30 minutes to put them on.As for the incorrect sights that R&A sold me, I just went down and bought a new Glock to put them on.  Amazing how fast word can spread on social mediaFOLKS DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE.There is in nothing in this little Shop that you cant find better somewhere else.

Excellent service and excellent store bought a new sig at a great price did a little shopping around and ended up back here mainly because I am in retail sales/management and I appreciated the expertise of both Ed and the older gentleman that actually sold me the gun (I forgot his name). First I would say that I felt like they were genuine, 2nd It was apparent right away that no one was trying to sell me I quickly realized because they are not salesmen this may sound strange but as a sales manager I appreciate this more than anything. The best sales people are not salespeople they are people who are passionate about what they do. I am not a gun expert by any means; this is not my first purchase. They answered my questions; they were nice, attentive to me even when other customers came in. There was a class going on that let out while I was there. They stayed engaged with me as well as the students that were milling around shopping. For a small store they have a good selection of firearms all of their prices were fair. What I heard of the class and the demeanor of the students afterwards the instructor was obviously knowledgeable and upbeat and entertaining. I will shop here again and would recommend anyone to do so. Keeping in mind that the owner is retired law enforcement he is not trained in customer service or sales or to stroke your ego. He is a firearms professional offering sound firearms advice. Yes they could merchandise and market the inside of the store a little better. Yes they could smile a little more and possibly greet the customer with a little more enthusiasm but I would rather they be a little rough around the edges and know what they are doing then be greeted by some smiling kid at a gun counter at an outdoors store who has no idea why he likes one caliber over another, or the pros and cons of polymer pistols, or different brands for that matter. Solid Company, Solid Pricing, Solid Advice no frills, what more do you want when it comes to a purchase that is as serious as a firearm.
