Found amazing options for wood, reasonable prices, and amaaazzing help. Alfredo, Trip and the other workers were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Will return again and again AND will be referring this amazing place to family and friends. So if you’re wondering about stopping at this shop, just do it. You won’t regret it.
A fantastic company. We had a table made, had a small problem, they remedied the issue with ease. Their products are carefully chosen. I very much appreciate being able to drive in, pick out some wood and have it precisely cut, most times while I wait. My go to wood and tool supply!
Very amazing place, they carry some of the best tools, sand paper and some of the most amazing species of wood. I am like a kid in a candy store... Love this store.
This place has such a good variety of woods and materials. My husband has been working on a table and theyve been very knowledgeable and helpful when he has questions. Every time Ive gone, weve been helped by Alfredo, who is very pleasant and seems to know a lot about woodcraft and materials. Highly recommend!
Always helpful. Have what we need and what we want. Love spending local!
Great place for exotic woods and other specialty woodworking supplies. Join the Rosewood Club to save even more.
So I visited the woodworkers source in tucon today. 4-9-21. I walk in and was looked at like whos that. No greetings at all. Wondered around the entire store. Had money i wanted to spend. Not 1 person came to ask if I needed help. Walked out with money still in hand (no thanks for looking) went all the way over to woodcraft and was greeted and asked if I need help several times. Spent my money there. Will not be back!
Awesome top shelf products and service! Reasonable prices for the quality!
Extremely helpful and very knowledgeable of wood and how I could finish my project
Guys are knowledgable & great selection of wood
Great place to pick up wood and supplies, bought a few tools there, good quality, friendly staff
For wood, this place is unbeatable! Great selection, great prices. Good, friendly customer service. Tool selection is meager, thats the only reason for one less 🌟.
Pro status woodworking stuff and advice here. Best handtools
Exceptional variety of exotic wood, top quality wood working products and a helpful staff. Sign up for the club and get a discount on items, seminars and workshops.
Can be a little pricey, but they have good quality wood. Awesome selection.
Great service, great selection. Signed up for their discount membership for a one one time fee of $20. Excited to have a better source for wood than Home Depot or Lowes
I was just at WWS where the Assistant Manager and Manager had to deal with a very obnoxious customer. No matter how many times they apologized or asked how they could rectify his concerns he found a way to keep arguing- their patience in coping with this abuse is a credit to WWS. You couldnt find better employees.
Helpful and knowledgeable salesman. Got just what I wanted and the price was good.
Great selection of wood. They will do cuts. Have to pick thru sometimes. Some of the wood is rough, bad splits. Sometimes a little sparse on the domestics 5/4+ cuts. Good service. Only complaint is closed Sundays. Defies logic that a hobby based store would be closed on Sunday. -1 Star for not being open on Sunday. Might be wiser to close Monday or Wednesday.
Great selection of woods. Will visit again, for sure
Good selection and friendly staff.
Highly recommended, I really had a great experience here. I needed some 3/4 Baltic birch for a subwoofer enclosure and the guys here helped me a lot. They were very patient with my inexperience and lack of planning on my part and got me exactly what I needed and were quick about it. Whoever says these guys aren’t respectful and helpful have a giant stick up their butt.
The lumber selection is good, but a little pricey. The rosewood club membership helps out a little bit and is worth it if you buy any significant amount of lumber. Its good quality wood for the most part too. Their prices on everything else is even higher. The staff is pretty helpful.
Great place! Has my needs!
Definitely lost a customer today. Bought a piece of plywood and needed it cut length and width wise to fit in my car without damaging my leather seats. The young man up front ask me what cuts in needed and I told him the lengths and he said I would be good to go. They advertise free cut to haul (up to 2 cuts). Got it cut lengthwise and was then informed that I needed to pay $15 for the additional cut. Pretty ridiculous that they dont honor what they clearly have advertised on a huge board. I will definitely not be a customer of any of their locations..Almost forgot to thank Woodworkers Source for the scratchs in my cars leather seats because of your false advertisement!!
I am new to woodworking and my first impression of this store was heaven for woodworking. I had a list of things I was going to purchase but I had questions about a few things because I am new. There was an African American gentleman at the counter and he asked if I had any questions. When I asked he acted like what I was asking was beneath him and told me to worry about my safety first. I appreciate the concern for my safety but this person was of no help. I only wanted some information so I can start my project with the correct tools which I had saved to purchase today but instead I got this person who was to good to share his knowledge. Since this person is the first impression you give to your customers I will probably not return. He is obviously as exotic as the wood you sell and he is not to be bothered.
Great store im a local knife maker and i buy all my handle wood here and have never had an issue. Wood is decently priced and good quality. Highly recommend this store👍
Went in for the first time today and was overall very impressed. Great selection of tools which are hard to find in Tucson. Customer service was fantastic. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Stopped in yesterday to buy a couple of quarts of wood stain. Simple right? Not really. The stains were all mixed up on the shelf. Why would they allow that to happen? After looking through everything I find one of the two I need. So I go to the counter to ask if they have the one I need somewhere else. First answer is if its not on the shelf then nope. wait...what are all these boxes behind the counter with stain company logos on them. I asked. The counterman said maybe we just got a new shipment in, but he made no move to check. I suggested he check. That elicited a nice look. I suspect because it interrupted the BS political discussion he was having with a customer that had is butt parked on a stool in front of the counter. He casually sorted through a few boxes while I stood there and listened to the ongoing BS. Finally, the answer was again nope. While waiting I looked on my phone for other sources in town...ACE Hardware on 22nd Street. I told the counterman never mind. Guess what ACE had what I needed plus about any other manufacturer and color you can imagine. To make it better the price at ACE was $12.99/qt. It was $16.99/qt here. Easy answer!! If I need specialty lumber Ill stop in here, but for other things its always a hassle at the counter because of the BS. Ill order online or go elsewhere.
I was in a slab leveling class and it was very informative also we learned how to make bow tie inlays to stabilize cracks. It was very educational. Thanks Joe
Byron is always very helpful!
As an amateur knife maker, I’ve been looking for a place with a nice selection of wood for knife handles and scabbards, and have had my eye on this place for a while.Went there for the first time today. My wife and I are very much novices and we were acting like kids in a candy store. The person behind the counter (sorry, don’t remember his name, but he looked younger than the other guys there by far) was very helpful and didn’t mind us wandering around touching stuff.I was a bit shocked at board/foot prices (again, I’m a novice and not a carpenter by any means) but I was very happy with the smaller stuff... pen and bowl turning blanks, knife scales, etc. And their discount bins and cut-off piece freebies will be a great resource for future projects.Definitely recommend. I’ll probably be going back soon!
Woodworkerss Source is where I buy nearly all of the lumber for my business. The staff is always helpful, and make me feel welcome. They have a great selection of wood and offer milling services in the back. When I was a new woodworker, I was warmly welcomed and encouraged. This industry is for professionals, and most wood dealers are gruff and dont want to waste their time with the little guy. This place is different. Let them know you are new, and ask to be lead through the process and youll have a great experience!
This is a mixed review. The guys at the counter were OK and were reasonably helpful. But the guy that does the milling in the back of the store is one of rudest people I have met.I picked out a board, paid for it and wrote out the dimensions for the four pieces I wanted cut. I asked that be done the next day. I was told it would be done by closing (5pm). I come in about 4:30pm and ask the guy that does the milling (Gary?) if my order was done. He replied....I havent done it yet and walked out to do something in back of the building. I hung around about 5 minutes and when he did not come back, I asked the counter guy about my order. He found it.... all cut and bundled.I took the bundle apart and EVERY PIECE was cut incorrectly in at least one dimension. How hard can this be especially with the equipment they have? Since the milling guy was still busy taking out the garbage (or whatever he was doing), the counter guy took care of my pieces in about 5 minutes. They are at least cut to the right dimension, but several have defects in the surface that I didnt want and will have to deal with. This place has a bit of a monopoly when it comes to hardwood milling in Tucson. If you must go there, make sure you measure everything before leaving.
Amazing store and as always amazing customer service
The staff here has always been very helpful. They carry a full selection of the high quality General stains for my husbands cabinet making projects.
Helpful and knowledgeable staff and great selection of lumber
Here is my experience. Went twice, 1st time with my wife, to show her the wood and open her eyes to the possibilities. After being there quite a bit, we were finally asked if we needed any help. I asked for clarification on the pricing and was told it was by the square foot. I was also told for $120 an hour they will cut, glue, sand etc., for you, which is really cool. So after browsing around, we left. Returning home I planned out, did my measurements and two days later returned knowing I need 30sq. ft of wood for two 30ish x 72ish table tops. Awesome, theyre having a sale on Cherry, 25% off. So I go in the back, take my time picking out the wood I want, only to be informed (after I had to ask noticing how he was measuring the board) that if you dont leave 6 ft. of the board behind, you have to buy the whole board. Well, a lot of their boards have cracks on the ends, are shorter than 12 ft so by the time you accounted for those issues and get enough of them together to get what you want the price which should have been around $230 (plus the $120 an hour labor if you used it), jumps to over $500 for the lumber alone. I seriously wonder if the kid was measuring/doing the math right. Also, no offer to see if we can find some 12 boards that could just be cut in half and get you closer to what you want, while at the same time making this more economical. Nope, not here. Here you are on your own. Let me say that again, you are on your own. Of course they did suggest I become a member as that will take 10% off, like that was the saving grace. Im not complaining about the membership, I have and use memberships. Its just in my mind for this situation, 10% does nothing. That plus what I felt was lackluster assistance... Well, that is all I need to make a decision not to do business with WoodWorkers Source. Overall I feel the (little) help I got was very disappointing (and was no great help). They do not provide enough information up front, and seem to care less if they get you as a customer or not. Overall I was getting a not my job type of vibe from the staff there. I do not recommend WoodWorkers Source for your Woodworking Needs. I hope I can find a better place here in Tucson, if you know of one, Im all ears. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and have a great day. Another losing example of this store, the owner just replied to me today, but I posted my complaint months ago. It only shows the post as 4 days old as I saw a typo in it that I corrected. Contrary to what he says, when I inquired, I was given little to no help, no question of would I like more assistance, I was just turned lose as he says...as for knots in the wood get with it, rustic wood is in and a knot is OK and can even be stylish. My gripe is the lack of help, the lack of explaining to me what was very important to know before I invested all my time and efforts (because again, no help). Had I known before hand, I probably would have purchased there as I could have in fact worked around that...but since that information was not given, and staff there obviously does not care to go above and beyond...here we are.
I just had another great experience at wood workers source everybody was so friendly and helpful
Not a bad place, prices are kind of high, but where else you gonna go? Most good quality stuff is cheaper than home depot, and the selection is amazing. Most of the guys around the place are very helpful and will take the time to explain stuff. Sometimes the guys at the front wont be as helpful, but then sometimes they are swamped with customers asking a million questions. Even though it isnt perfect, its still the best place in Tucson to buy lumber and learn a thing or two if you are patient enough. Compared to other hardwood suppliers Im happy we in Tucson are so lucky to have such a good store locally. The only thing I can think of to make it better would be to maybe have more info in the store (the website is great actually) for people who ask the easy questions so that the service people would be freed up to help others. I learned what a board foot was and how to calculate it by hearing it explained to other customers about 6 times before I even bought anything.
I was recently in this store. First time in and in the beginning was a pleasant experience, I was looking around as I have never seen so many different types of wood. I made my selections as i only needed a track for a router table I am making. There was long haired gentleman who was ringing me up and he asked if I would like to join the club for 20 dollars, i declined politely as I did not have an extra 20 dollars to join. I asked instead if they had a military discount, this is when the manager Danny Lopez quickly chimes in with a, NO!, ordinarily I would not take offence as there are some establishments that dont have it and thats fine with me, except this manager said it with a hate and a glare that was confrontational. It made me feel uncomfortable, thats when the gentleman that was actually helping me said that in fact they do have it and gave me the military discount. I feel that the manager Danny Lopez only reacted in retaliation of my decline to join the club for 20.00 maybe he perhaps took offence to my financial situation/budget that he knows nothing about. This is unfortunate as this was my first experience and my first impression of this store. Its hard to say whether or not Ill be back.
Very rude customer service at the desk, not much help at all. wood selection is good but its very expensive. Plywood is hit and miss regarding quality. I have previously bought Baltic ply with good results, last time both sides had heavy patching...
I think there couldve been better selection of wood. Seems a little pricey, but they may have what you need in hardwoods.
Ive been going here for a couple years, and Ive always been completely happy with the products and service. The staff is very helpful to beginners like myself needing advise or buying small quantities.
I dont know where the crummy reviews are coming from, but Ive had routinely good service for the many years Ive been a customer. The counter staff have been very helpful when I had questions about trying a new wood species. The milling Ive ordered (usually to straighten one side) was timely and they always offered to help load my truck.
My go-to hardwood store. Great selection, service and prices.
A bit spendy but got what I wanted. Good selection.
Very knowledgeable and professional.
Very friendly and helpful to those new to woodworking (something Im told is not always the case), which thrills me because Im addicted to my new hobby and have such a great local shop. I buy small quantities but frequently of both various hardwoods and the birch plywoods. Cannot wait for new projects and to try new woods.
Awesome customer service and great prices.
The they know they would and easy to talk to and happy to share information
Byron educated us before selling us our wood.
Very nice very clean lots of exotic woods.
Good selection. Prices are little high but if you get buy wood often and get a membership you can save some money.
Best hardwoods! Great, knowledgeable staff!
I was not impressed. Not much stock for hand tools and everything is overpriced.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, good pricing.
Great selection and fantastic, helpful staff
Friendly folks, good selection, good service.
No help....they could careless horrible customer service.
While I didnt actually buy anything the GM, Donny, wad very friendly and helpful with a fledgling woodworker as myself. Will be going back
Promised and couldnt deliver. Left us hanging without any remorse or apology.Avoid at all cost!!!
Super bad Service lazy people.
Horrified by the way they treated us.
Always a great experience here! Great service selection, prices and frequent sales so theres always a solid reason to start your next project. Was really blown away when I mentioned to Bret that I was sad they ran out of white limba. Two weeks later I got a phone call from him letting me know they were getting a new shipment that day! They even have treats for my dogs when I take them with me.
