Fun comfortable atmosphere. Reminds me of a little coffee shop in San Diego. They have vegan and gluten free options. Very friendly staff. Been 3x and the gentleman with the bird is always so sweet!

Very cute spot. I was traveling and looking for a place that had vegan options and decided to stop here. They didnt have any waffles, but that is okay. I had one of their vegan cinnamon rolls and a Horchata. The food and drink were alright the only issue I had was the wait time. If I had more time, this wouldnt have been much of an issue.

Love cafe 1948! Some constructive feedback. The corks for the tops of the juice bottles have changed. They don’t have a great fit and leak, I highly recommend switching back or finding new ones. Not just a leaking issue but possibly also a seal/freshness problem as well. Thank you!

2 stars for the decor and zero stars for everything else. Not impressed with the $7.31 matcha latte and even more unimpressed with the teenage looking person that seemed to be bothered that I interrupted her conversation with her friend to place my order from a menu she seemed kinda unfamiliar with.

Cafe 1948 is truly the jewel of the NEW downtown Tyler. The vibe, the food, the coffee, the ownership, and the baristas are all top notch. This place is my rainy day go-to. It’s a must try for any Tyler visitor or resident.

I have been a half of dozen times and visit coffee shops daily. The first time I came they were friendly enough. When we came they were out of half and half and it took 10 minutes to go downstairs and get some.... okay so I came back today because even when people make mistakes you give them extra opportunities. They are already overpriced for brewed coffees at $3.00. Most shops in Tyler are $2.00-$2.50. I use half and half in my coffee and they charge an additional $0.75 for bringing the cost for a brewed cup to $4.06 with tax. Ridiculous!!! Did I mention you have to pay for parking or walk 2 blocks. I have been enough times now to not recommend this coffee shop. There are much better options in Tyler. I am coming back and updating this review because management reresponded positively with me and has tried to remedy the problem. Thanks. Perhaps I can give 5 star later as experiences improve.

I got a matcha here and it honest to God ruined my day.Ive tried really hard to love this place but I cant. The environment is great, I like to come to study occasionally. But the prices and quality of food aint it. I spent $7 on a matcha rose iced latte, and it tasted like soap. And I sat there and finished the soapy matcha because it cost $7 :(( It makes me so upset I can go on and on about it, but I will chill out.I just dont understand how everything is so expensive, and unpalatable.The only thing I ever really thought was good is the protein bowl with avocado. But I think the barista who made it was so nice and excited for me try that it enhanced the experience making the food taste like 25% better or something.3 stars for interior design, its so cute.

1948 is a beautifully decorated, inviting cafe with friendly staff and a flavorful, menu. I came for the coffee and stayed for a smoothie bowl filled to the brim with delicious fruit. My specialty espresso drink hit the spot and showcased the talents of their barista staff. 4 stars for higher prices than other local coffee places, longer waits and reduced seating, but by all means, give this place a shot.

($7 for a 8oz cup) Things like that needs to be clear.I ask to dine in, yet still got a “to go” cup. Which was ok. But I expected a mug. Paid $7 and that was what I asked for. Again still a good drink.This place deserves 4 stars for the atmosphere, quality and customer service. I didn’t have a problem with place itself, just the confusion of what was to be expected.And please don’t come at owner. This is just an consumer observation. I like knowing what I’m getting when I spend my money. Great place, just be clear of what the consumer is getting on the price. When I feel the need to splurge. I’ll be back😉

Tyler has been lacking a vegan food scene for years and 1948 answered the call. I usually don’t eat out because impossible to find fueling food that leaves you feeling well in the Tyler area until now. 1948 feels like an extension of my own kitchen, quality ingredients, exceptional flavor and mindful preparation. Food made with joy is far more beneficial than the empty calories all around us. The atmosphere is beautifully curated and intentionally laid out support a community experience while you enjoy breakfast, lunch or a cup of coffee. Hats off to the 1948 crew, you’re leading the city in the right direction.

Epic spot. Ive tried tens of coffee shops across Texas, and 1948 is bar far my favorite. Cool to know they roast their own coffee and create their own drinks. Food is spectacular. I LOVE the wide variety of granola bars in the Urban Market, and after trying all of them have yet to find one I dont like. If youre thinking about stopping by, do it.

The ambiance is devine. Delicious waffle and panini! The coffee was amazing as well. I recommend the 1948. We will be back!

Had breakfast there today, but again, the waffle machine was still out of order. I ordered a waffle the last time I was there about 3 months ago and it took the employee about 4 times to make the waffle before it came out correctly...bummer because the waffles are the best! Food is good and staff is friendly, but service is very slow. I know the last time I was there it took almost 30 min to get my food (that was 3 months ago too.) I guess maybe they are till trying to work out the kinks. I may give it another try, but you definitely need to be patient waiting on your food.

My husband and I saw this little place while waiting at the light at Grande and Broadway. I begged him to pull over because this place is super cute. We had never been to the 1948 physical location, so this was a new experience for us, but we plan to visit in the future. Joshua was very friendly and gave us recommendations on which beverages to try. I got the 1948 latte and my husband got a hot chocolate. Overall, the drinks were okay. They werent what I expected. We do plan to visit the physical location to take a second try because the service was great.Update: after visiting the physical location, I was sad to say I was unimpressed. The overall ambiance of the place is nice. The interior is stylish and upscale. Thats about all I can say thats good though. The employees werent very friendly and the coffee was way overpriced. I ordered a small regular coffee and it was TINY. I paid almost $4 for it and it didnt taste great either.

Cute place with interesting decor. Comfortable seating also available out the doors into the connected gallery. Breakfast food was wholesome, but when we went they werent serving any waffles. Still friendly staff and nice experience!

The cafe is lovely with a nice, clean, and comforting atmosphere. As an out-of-towner visiting the city of roses, I figured Id order a matcha rose latte. I was worried the flowery taste might be too much, but it was wonderfully made and delightful to taste! The baristas were helpful, friendly, and delivered great service.

This place deserves way more than 5 stars from the Ambience to the friendly staff to the amazing food. I am HOOKED if you are looking for great food and a place to bring out your inner creativity this is it I had the waffle and egg and let me tell you I hate eggs and I really hate when syrup is touching my food but for some reason the egg and the waffle with the syrup and fresh Strawberries with the homemade whipped topping was beyond splendid. I love this place and I cant wait to go back to enjoy the food and the over all experience. It really gives an l.a vibe

The atmosphere reminds us of California, and Spain! The staff are friendly and juggle so many things behind the bar! Awesome organic food, the coffee is radical, and they roast it themselves! You can tell, they support local and truly care about the community. 10/10 would be back here. Literally daily 😂

Lol, well, when your employee handed me a hot tea and tells me its an iced tea I think thats where my stars started to decline. The coffee and tea were great, the incompetent employees not as much. Botched 2 out of the 4 drinks in our group, not to mention another guy that was in another group during our visit (he waited half an hour for his latte) and I just cant get over someone handing me a hot tea and telling me its an iced tea........ great atmosphere though I really enjoyed the vibe

If the best cup of coffee in town isnt enough to bring you here the now have gourmet toasts. The owners and baristas are so friendly and know how to help you pick out the drink for you. Amazing place, I will be here every day that I can.

Came here for the juice jars! Stayed for the rest. I wish I was able to get one of everything to try today, but Ill have to come back for that. Great spot. Fantastic coffee - I actually wish I had gotten it unflavored. Theres no harsh bitterness to their espresso with almond milk, so its definitely a coffee I would get with no syrup and just a bit of sugar next time. Great little assortment of quick items to shop as well as some delicious looking menu snacks. Lofi on the speakers. Cozy chairs, couches, good vibes. Worth a look.

Its something unique that this area hasnt had and has desperately needed. My favorite drink is the 1948 latte. Ive been all over the country and have never tasted a latte like it. Wow. Great juicery/cafe with delectable eats on the square in Tyler. Connects to the main art gallery and adjacent to True Vine. I never thought Id see avo toast in Tyler circa 2021 but am beautifully wrong.

This place is cool. It does it best to use organic food and their coffee is good. As of right now they do not have a vegan bowl or sandwich but since Im helping them out I putting the thought in the managers minds. Also if you are deaf or hard of hearing Im helping them and I speak ASL as my second language.

I liked my drink. I did not like the price. The vibe is more like a hollywood type cafe rather than a coffee shop. There was more advertisement for smoothies and detox drinks than there was for coffee. Ill stick with my regular coffee spot.

1948 Cafe is stellar! Grabbed myself a mocha and a vegan cinnamon roll for the kiddos after-school treat. The staff was helpful and friendly, parking is easy. The atmosphere and views are so pretty. Also grateful for the rewards program! Go to Cafe 1948 and try all the things! Some of our family favorites are the Dough Uprising GFDF cupcakes (lavender vanilla 👌👌👌), Vegan Nachos, paninis and smoothie bowls.

They were out of avocado on a Saturday morning before 9am. Staff was not patient while we selected different menu items instead.

Coffee is amazing here, Ive been to the same chain in Houston. But this particular location has no intention of giving you coffee with your food at even remotely the same time, no speed or level of speed. Pretty sure I saw either an employee, friend, or delivery driver grab things over thr counter, then walked in the back to prep his coffee for him and friends or delivery without washing his hands. My girlfriend and I were going to order waffles and eggs but No waffles. Like the machine, is ...*the batista points to the waffle machine* like not working. No offer for something else, honestly it was like we were interrupting her Saturday morning plans and came in and broke the machine ourselves.The only reason Im giving 2 stars is the coffee is really good, at this location and the others. However, Id rather go to Starbucks or Chick-Fila.Edit: we read the reviews here and I guess we caught them on a bad day.Edit part 2: There are a couple of coffee shops in Houston with the same or similar name. Good for you on starting a new business in the pandemic, thats not easy. Especially when your waffle maker breaks. But, having worked in customer service for 15 years, the whole experience was kind of off putting. Looks like you have plenty of positive reviews that two out of towners wont affect yall at all. This is my first experience at this place and I have to say...I’M IN LOVE! They have a healthy but fulfilling menu. I got a heirloom caprise and a topo Chico. Paid about $13, not bad for the portion and AMAZING taste of the panini. The ambiance is beautiful and inviting. I love the different options of seating. The sell a lot of organic and vegan food/snack and drink options. The young man that was working the register and making the sandwiches was so kind and it was a little busy when I came in and he did great tagging between the food and the register. I will definitely be sharing the word of this place and visiting every time I make it to Tyler!

Went twice in one day because the coffee was that good. We tried 4 of their specialty drinks and each was delicious. Great atmosphere too. Loved seeing all the plants.

Such a great addition to Tyler! Love walking to your downtown location on Saturday mornings and Ive especially been happy that I can find a good cup of coffee later into the evenings. Walking into cafe 1948, feels like I just walked into a Southern California high end bistro, with all the craft espresso bar vibes. I cannot express enough how they have blown my expectations out of the water. The best craft food, drinks, and atmosphere in the east Texas area. If you want to hang with friends, get quality food and juice, or a craft coffee, this is your spot!

I tried the Detox Juice from their test batch #9 and WOW, it was amazing! All of the flavors mixed so well and the apple/carrot and ginger tasted so bright and fresh. The juice is so smooth and refreshing!

This is increasingly becoming one of my favorite coffee shops.Though a little bit expensive, the drinks and food items are of really high quality. The ingredients are cool, and a lot of the ingredients are organic. The staff are also friendly and remember you.I highly recommend the Horchata Latte and The 1948 in terms of the drinks. With respect to the food, the Wanderlust avocado toast is great.

1948. A year in history that doesnt get the love it deserves. One of the greatest humanitarians in history, Mahatma Ghandi died in 1948. The transistor made its way to the scene as it found its inventor in 1948. (Hail to the computer chip)! Speaking of which, the first computer program was written in...........(🥁 please........) 1948. Now......let us fast-forward to 1948. Im not talking about Ghandi.....Im talking about the food I ate on Monday!! Sorry.... Wednesday... Monday sounds so much better with...you know..Mahatma. Sometimes, there is so much hype surrounding the new place in town. And then, when you pay it a visit, you take a couple of bites and reason, Its good, but I can get the same thing at Jo Jos or Mojos or Slow Moes... Not so the case with Cafe 1948. The food is real!!!! As in real good... Where I come from, there is a saying that states Real recognizes real. In its simplest form, it means, a person true at heart recognizes the authenticity of another person true at heart. Of course, I cant read hearts, unless it is the heart of an organic artichoke. Be that as it may, 1948 is the real deal. And while 1948 may not get its rightful credit of 72 years ago, I have no doubt, that, this 1948 is history in the making. Congratulations, Tyler, Texas. You became the winner.

Today I tired the Mellow Yellow smoothie and their unlimited drip coffee and they were both delicious.

Most overpriced coffee I have ever bought...a small mocha was six dollars and 50 cents! And it wasnt even hot. I was very disappointed.

The food was excellent, but pricey. By excellent, I do mean quite delicious and I would have ate more (unnecessarily), but 12 bucks a sandwich. Wah.
