Went for typical state inspection. Called 3 times prior to make sure I could get service done there. When I arrive, service man says he must take my vehicle home because the machine to do the inspection is there. He winds up calling me from another service station on Morris Ave asking me if I dont mind waiting because there is a line at wherever he DROVE my vehicle to. ABSOLUTLEY NOT. SHADY AT BEST. STAY AWAY!

I was there waiting patiently for 30 min,another car comes in and with out hesitation he took his car before me.i approach him and asked what he is doing and replied vy saying i got you.i waited two more minutes and got fed up.he decided to start checking my car when i decided to drive away.i been going for 5byears..i guess the longer you been coming to them,the less respect they have.im taking my business elsewhere

Ive been using AJs since the mid 90s & I still use them & refer them to others! This place is always busy, so that should speak volumes for them. I have never been mislead or overpriced for their services. They do the job & send you on your way, fairly! If, you have a problem after your car has been repaired, you revisit them, tell them the dilemma & if its related to the same problem, its handled! This place is not the repair shop looking to pull one over on the customer. And, thats why Im still a customer today, even for the simple oil change. This is one Automotive repair shop I TRUST!!

Very good mechanics work there. I have gotten engine swaps, transmission swaps and replace clutch. Nothing was wrong after I got my car service from them. You can tell the way they work that they really have a passion for cars and love what They do.

ROY TOLD ME THATVONE THING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND YET WHEN THEY “FIXED” IT THEY FOUND THE ACTUAL PROBLEM AND TRIED TO BE DISHONEST ABOUT IT. THEN TRIED TO CHARGE ME $120 BC I SAID NO TO HIS SERVICE. VERY RUDE OVER THE PHONE. THEY HANG UP ON YOU LIKE CHILDREN WHEN YOU SPEAK WITH THEM. IF YOU DONT SPEAK SPANISH THEY WILL CHARGE YOU MORE AND TREAT YOU LIKE 2nd CLASS. DO NOT GO HERE. STAY AWAY FROM ROY AND HIS RUDENESS TO OTHERS. ROY WILL OVER CHARGE YOU AND NOT FIXED ANY ISSUES.

Lois is very helpful & his fellow mechanics are pretty helpful & insightful, my only complaint is they forget to put some of the bolts back on, I get it’s a fast paced business but I wish they tripled checked their work before sendin’ the customer on their way, it’s one of those things that’s not bad but could definitely be improved on. Would still go to them pricing is very reasonable.

Finally an honest mechanic. I took my 2013 Subaru and a Mitsubishi Galant there. He does good work, charged me an honest fee, and I left knowing that my car was well cared for. I would highly recommend.

*/*****I came here when the transmission on my 2013 Subaru Outback failed. They installed a replacement refurbished transmission with a six month/6,000 mile warranty. The transmission failed just three weeks later while we were on a road trip in Pennsylvania.We had to be towed to a nearby Subaru dealership, where they told us that one of the bellhousing bolts was completely loose, the transmission fluid pan and rear differential were very poorly resealed, and, worst of all, wrong transmission fluid was used- AJ Auto Repair used normal ATF rather than CVT fluid, which completely destroyed the workings of the transmission.We had to have the transmission completely replaced again, and AJ Auto Repair has refused to take responsibility for this, in spite of the warranty. Theyre trying to charge us $800 to have the transmission transported from the dealership in Pennsylvania back to New Jersey, even though we are owed a refund of $3412. They have been rude, have lied repeatedly about what caused the issues (in spite of written statements from the dealership), and have prevaricated for months. Were now pursuing legal action in order to recover our funds. Its a mess.UPDATE 03/2019AJ Auto Repair did eventually refund this cost! It took months of back and forth and threats of legal action, but they did ultimately resolve this. Credit to them for that! but I would have much rather had the work done correctly, elsewhere, from the start.

Horrible place, stay away. Went for strut bearing replacement. They broke metal wire clips, break sensor and striped wheel lugs and when I left the shop the car was making sounds that didnt make before. Should call ICE on them
