Over 350$ installation and unaligned wet headlights are result. Talked to aftermarket manager, told defective equipment not chance seal compromised during installing. Polite remind easily transfer liability onto consumer while business still standing, nothing can do but, enjoy day.

I was looking around for assistance with my BMW 530xi. I seen this business and the first few views were positive so I decided to call for an appointment. The female at the front desk was rude and short. I couldnt get a word in edge-wise. I feel if this is the representation for the business you guys might need some renovation!!! This place was so good, so honest I really couldnt believe it. I had taken my jeep to Prices transmission where they did $850 worth of work. The jeep was just shutting off right in the middle of driving. A scary situation since my son was behind the wheel on the highway (surely doing the speed limit, I doubt it) when it just shut off. We were told we had a transmission issue. Took it to Prices where they replaced 2 parts and told us it was fixed. We paid the $850 and left. 2 days later the jeep shut off while he was driving it again. Returned to Prices where they told us we had a wiring issue and we needed to take it to Tidewater electrical. The lady was so nice, they dont take appointments and didnt have a place to put the jeep. She allowed us to stay on site till a space opened up for us. She understood that I didnt want my son driving and the thing shut off on him. Took a few hours but she assured me she would find me a space. She did. They were on a 6 day delay so a week later I received a call informing me that first off Prices used Chinese parts instead of OEM parts. They also installed my crank shaft sensor incorrect which caused it not to read properly. They could find no exposed wires. The sensor was cross threaded and if course the bolt was in a spot where there was no room to retap the threads. They were able to heat up the bolt and get it removed without snapping it and creating a huge problem. To top it off they were $150 cheaper than Prices and they used OEM parts. Prices told tidewater they would refund me, Ill be going to get that tomorrow so we will see if they honor their word. Tidewater electrical was absolutely awesome to us and I would use them again in a heart beat! 5 stars all day!

325 $ just to know that Alternator in 2008 Infinity is Bad 3 hours just to see if it bad or not and someone his name is josh give speech about how difficult is hard to the prosses. They overcharge be carefull when they order parts much cheap that they offer and i end up take the car after 325$ car diagnostic test fee and repair is 1100 $ so total 1425$ way more the the Dearship repair price. i felt very bad because i lost money there and I am not there yet ...........God saw what they did to me......

This shop serviced my 07 Infiniti FX35 because I was having issues with my A/C last week. I received a diagnostic and was told what was supposedly the issue and was informed I needed a part to fix the issue, this was a total of about $400, I picked my vehicle up on that Friday. I drove my car over the weekend and my A/C goes out on Sunday. I take it back up to this shop bright and early Monday morning to have them see what is exactly going on with the A/C because I was under the impression the issue was already repaired because that is what we were told. My husband and I called up there yesterday and was told my car is back on the machine (another diagnostic) to see if any leaks were coming from anywhere. In addition to this, when we call Monday to check on the status of the vehicle, the tech says to my husband that we declined services that were noted on the receipt that no one ever mentioned to us about. So, the tech calls us today and says that a condenser needs to be replaced and that will cost $484. I have no issue with the expenses on repairing a vehicle because I know maintenance on vehicles can be expensive, BUT NO ONE TOLD US THE FIRST TIME ALL OF THE ISSUES WITH THE A/C. PRESENT ALL OF THE ISSUES, NOT JUST ONE AND TRY TO GET THE CUSTOMER TO COME BACK TO PAY MORE ON THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. Another thing is not once did they try to accommodate with them dropping the ball or even apologize for the inconvenience they have caused. To me it seems like this place is money hungry and I RECOMMEND NOT HAVING YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED HERE !!!

The job was Relatively inexpensive, and they got to my vehicle quicker than expected. I am completely satisfied and if necessary I plan on using their services in the far future.

The best in Tidewater is a foul lie.I purchased some H11 headlights from them for my Tacoma. First off, the ones they sold me werent even STREET LEGAL. And, they didnt tell me this upon purchase, but there are NO RETURNS for this place. I guess this place is still standing due to their lack of communication and sly tricks they pull like this.Stay away from this location. Theyre no-for-good con artists.

Avoid at all costs! Took our car to Tidewater after having diagnosed at another shop. We need a specialty part that the original shop couldn’t replace. TAE quoted us for the part we needed to have replaced, then told us they had to run their own diagnostics first. After agreeing to that, they came back and said that their diagnostics were inconclusive and they wanted to run further tests. We told them to just replace the part that we had already been told was bad, that we didn’t want to put a ton more money into it. The receptionist gave us nasty attitude about our decision. We never even got to speak with the actual technician. They replaced the part, which was supposed to cost $670 with the diagnostic they had run, and then called us and told us that it didn’t fix the problem. We chose not to have them do any further work because our experience had been so poor at this point. When we picked up the car, they charged us an additional $300 for a pin test that was never authorized or done (we specifically told them we did NOT want it done). My husband told her the final amount was incorrect, but she charged the card anyways. They also took three weeks to replace a part that should have taken 2 days. When we got the car back my husband (who has rebuilt cars) started looking at the wiring harness to try to figure out the issues, and the shop had left it in disarray. They didn’t reconnect the wires back to their brackets and left them laying all over the engine and transmission. There are also now new engine codes that weren’t previously an issue. We are the original owners of the vehicle and have not had repairs done by any other shop. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Avoid this place like the plague. I brought my Honda Civic 07 in because over a 4 day period of not being driven, the battery was getting drained. I was told that it needed a new multplex unit. I had the work done and on 06-19-20 paid $ 1, 353.38. The car was then driven every day over the summer without issue. As soon as the weather turned cold and the car sat for 4 or 5 days, the battery was being drained. The problem had never been fixed. After putting in a new battery, I took the car back in on 01-04-20 to get it checked out. The people at Tidewater Auto Electric said it would be $ 650.00 to take out the dash to trace some burnt wires. I offered (01-09-20) to pay for any parts but felt that the business should pick up the labor since the original problem had not been fixed. My thinking was that replacing the multiplex unit did not fix or completely fix the problem. Tidewater Auto Electric tried to tell me that they are not responsible for the problem because it is now reoccurring for some other reason. The problem was never fixed in the first place and they have refused to work with me on the issue. Im now stuck with an unreliable car, not to mention a lighter wallet. Lesson learned: these folks will leave you high and dry.

I received a quote from Tidewater Auto Electric on having three grill lights wired into the parking lights on my sons F150. They quoted me $350 to do the job! I then called 4 Wheel Parts in Virginia Beach and they quoted me $75. It only took them an hour and they did a great job.

The quality and service at this location is superior and top shelf. I’ve used TAE for my motorcycle and two trucks. They go above and beyond and are straight shooters. One time I brought in my Escalade which only needed a hard battery reset; they could’ve lied and claimed it was something big when it wasn’t. They called me and said it only needed a hard reset. Super honest and they get to the root of a problem. Have recommended them to all my friends and family. Super great customer service as well.

I brought my truck for an alarm diagnostics. The alarm turned out to be bad and I approved to get a new alarm with minimum functionality. Got the bill for the diagnostics, the ground being replaced, new alarm and installation. I got the truck back yesterday almost closing time. The tech tested everything and it was working fine. However when I got home I noticed that my hazard flasher was not working and I noticed that a fuse laying on my passenger seat along with fuse box cover. I was going to check and pop the hood to see the ground wire that they rebuilt or replaced and I notice that my cable release lever was not replaced back so I could not open the hood. I would think that me paying the right amount of service charged for labor would at least give me satisfactory work because I know I deserved it. The company was a veteran owned and being a retired veteran I expected a descent service. I asked for discount but they said they do not give military discounts so its fine with me but I dont think I deserve this kind of service. I hope that someone would call me and at least fix and put the things back in its place so I can change this review. This is my first time dealing with this company so I need to get a better service. I got my truck yesterday 6 Aug and I was going to take it back but they were closed already.

It looks like it came with the vehicle despite it being an after market unit. It works like a charm and their customer service was on point. Took my truck here with multiple electronics on operating properly in my truck after having it at the dealer for seven days with no answers and nothing changing other then I needed to replace all of the parts that were acting up. After having it for less then a day the guys here had the problem found and fixed at half the price the dealer charged. The communication was very well and up front with what the charges were and their plans. I will definitely bring my stuff to them first in the future.

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!! If I could give this negative stars, I would. We had our vehicle towed in for service. We took the bumper off our car (because it’s hard to tow it with it on there since it sits so low), and left it in the trunk/back seat of the car for the whole time it was there. When we got the vehicle back, the bumper lip had been ripped off the bumper. This is a $300 part and it was stolen while they had our car. I called and had to talk with Bonnie (more than once because they don’t care about you and won’t make it a priority to call you back), and she argued with me the whole time and basically implied that I was out of luck and there’s nothing they would do. I already paid $350 for them to not even be able to fix my car (even though it was an electrical issue, they still didn’t know how to fix it), and to have a part stolen off my car. I REPEAT: DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!!!! I have photographic proof of the day it was towed and the day it came back. THIEVES!!!!!!

Called tidewater auto yesterday inquiring about electrical work to secure a fuse box as my radio was not functioning. Lady on the phone was very nice and instructed me to bring the car in at 8am as soon as they open and id be on my way by 10am so theres no need to drop it off and if its a simple fix it would get done. I previously had car diagnosed at audio one. Where they concluded it was a fuse panel issue.I didnt mind paying another diagnostic with tidewater so long as they offered a fix. Anyways, i arrive at 8am sharp and speak with the gentlemen about my situation. He states I dont know what she told you but i have like 15 cars ahead of you. He continued to say they didnt work on radios, and didnt really want me to explain that it was my fuse panel instead. I even had my previous audio one diagnosis in hand which the gentleman didnt even wanna look at. Perhaps it was total miscommunication between their techs and phone clerk, but i left with a really bad taste in my mouth. Defiantly recommend looking elsewhere.

Took our vehicle to tidewater auto because the battery would not hold a charge. The parts store said the battery was fine but there was a unidentified draw. Tidewater auto said it was just the battery that needed to be replaced. They wanted to charge twice what our mechanic would charge and more than twice what a parts store would charge! How can they stay in business charging like that?

I was having problems with my car turning left. I called around to several repair shops with no results. I did find out that my car has an electronic power steering. So I stopped by Tidewater Auto Electric and spoke with West. He asked me to bring my car back and he would check it for me. I dropped my car off on last Thursday. West contacted me and informed me that my car needed to have the steering column, and the motor and controller replaced. He also called the Chevrolet dealership, because it was on recall for this problem. They would not honor the recall, he stated that is bad business since this car is made by your company. I was very grateful for him trying to get this done under the warranty, even though they would not do it. With that being said, I was proud to have Tidewater Auto Electric repair my car. I think all companies need a West on there roster. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who need electrical repairs.Happily Satisfied,Patricia Bailey

Do not come here! They are all about taking your money. They will also take parts from your car without your permission. If youre a man you probably have a good chance with them because theyre not going to try to play you like you a woman. They took the thing that supposed to plug into the thing that suppose to read the codes that tell whats wrong with the car. They took that piece out of my car and did not put it back in. I had to pay them nearly $700 just to get my car out of their lot because they said they had to do some further work on it after they told me a different price which was way cheaper than $700. I had a hard time getting to work when they had my car for nearly a month. I feel like they didnt even do anything to my car like they said they did. When I came back and ask them about the piece to my car they offered to try to figure out what was wrong with my car and they looked up my information and laughed at me and said oh I remember you and I say yeah I bet you do all that money I paid. They also said that my Cadillac converter was going bad and when I got it checked out at another place they said my Cadillac converter wont even going bad. Oh and another thing when the man print it out my information it wont even what I paid for it so they overcharged me.

They fixed my old workhorse hondas broken AC unit, inspected it, and restored various filters, aligned it, and replenished low oil levels all for a VERY fair price. They let me know I could bring it back in if anything should end up not working. A day later the AC stopped working again. I took it in, they spent extra HOURS on it and completely replaced the unit at no extra charge. My old car feels practically new.

Had an issue with turn signal not working. Came on a recommendation. They do not take appointments. You just have to show up at 8am when they open and wait. Receptionist was very short...bordering on rude. She claimed they were the ONLY ones in tidewater area who worked on electrical problems. Went online and found another place that was less than two miles away. Lost my business and will not recommend to anyone.

I had the best experience with tidewater electric! I took my work truck to get power locks and keyless entry. I was told the price when I scheduled the appointment. After it was completed, I told told it went easier than expected and the price was even cheaper. The integrity was really impressive! I am now taking my second vehicle there to had the same thing! Took my equinox here because battery wouldnt hold a charge. Test result said it was my alternator,which was new. Told it would test positive but was not working properly. Keep moving. Walk in and get zero helpful assistance. Very limited selection, no prices (two visits, two salesman, 2 different prices for same item), install price is ridiculous. Good luck finding parking in thier junkyard! Only positive feedback comes from them. Look elsewhere.

I have always used Tidewater Auto Electric for my remote starters and stereo equipment. Richie and his crew are always fast, honest, and far more knowledgeable about auto sound and security than any of the other big-box retailers or small independent shops. When I had questions about products, Richie has always been helpful and has fully explained why he prefers one product over another--and rarely does it have to do with price. I highly recommend TAE for repairs and auto sound/security!

Awesome place. Great prices for products and labor. Qucik install. I walked in and received immediate attention from a very knowledgable staff. They gave me a rundown on all the GPS radios and which would go well with my Corvette. Went into the wait room. Some of the staff went in there and struck up conversation with me and some other customers present. Had a few laughs. Before i knew it, the job was done.The GPS they recommended has been phenomenal and saves me tons of being lost time. I also gave them a few calls on how to do this or that with the GPS Touch Screen Radio since I hate reading manuals and I wasnt paying attention when they gave me the rundown the first time. They were surprisingly happy to help me out with how to do this or that well after the purchase and install. Id recommend them to anyone. Going back soon myself to get lights installed on my Motorcycle.

Absolutely the worst service ever. Dealt specifically with Rich who told me I needed a 5000 watt inverter to run my 1/2 horsepower compressor out of the back of my truck. The inverter cost me $450.00. He wanted to drill holes in my truck to run the wiring through the cab back to the bed as well. I dont think so! Bottom line is this company can not be trusted to tell you what you need or ever relied upon to complete the job in a professional manner without causing damage to your vehicle.

I do not recommend bringing your car here. The service is horrible and the prices are outrageous. Make sure you inventory the things in your car if you do decide to bring it here because they tend to lose items inside your car. They lost my floor liner in my truck and I was lied to for almost a month about the replacement. Please make sure you inventory your car because I was told by the employees that they do not inventory your car. Even after all this they refused to replace my liner that they lost. I took my car here for a one day repair which lead to a 3 day repair. The manager never keep me updated about the status of my car and to top it off they order the wrong part for it. This is a warning! Do not come to this place. Again they have horrible customer service.

My car was never fixed. Everything I got it towed for didn’t get fixed including my headlight. I recommend to not go there because they didn’t fix anything all they did was clear faults which appeared again when I drove off the lot. I got cheated and I’m disappointed.

This is one of the worst places I have been. I walked from having a really bad car day like car shutting off in the middle of the road bad and, I was trying to get them to do a diagnostic on the electrical and engine. I had priced this already twice to make sure the price was the price even with others around. I get there and they try to charge me for something I DID NOT ASK TO THEM TO DO!!!!!! Im standing there telling this lady what I need and she just keeps over talking me and trying and make me understand but Im cutting holes all thru her logic. This place I will never come back to and I will make sure none of my friends family fan base come here.

I took my car in to Tidewater Auto Electric because of a problem with my sound system. When I got there, everyone was friendly and welcoming. After explaining my problem to the staff, Richie, the manager, came out with me to take a look. He was able to identify the cause of my problems after just a few minutes and he then proceeded to explain to me (in non-technical terms a girl could understand) what was wrong and what needed to be done. I waited in the waiting area while the repairs were done, which didn’t take long at all, paid a reasonable bill, and left with my music sounding great. If I ever have any concerns with my car, I already know where I’ll be going. Richie and the staff at Tidewater Auto Electric know how to make a customer for life.

We put our car in the shop in November. They kept the car for almost 3 weeks and we still had to end up putting the car back in the shop this month (February) because we are having the same issue from before. They do not communicate with you. If you do not call them, you have no idea what is going on with your car. Our car has now been back in the shop for once again for another 3 weeks. This will be the LAST time I use this company.I DO NOT recommend anyone taking their car here.

Dropped my car off for turning signals to get fixed, and they charge me $300 dollar and didn’t fix anything. I felt ripped off. When I got home I YouTube turning signals for my car, and it took me 15 minuets to fix myself. Tbh I don’t think they touched my car. I believe they charged me for holding my car on their lot. $300 I want my money back!!

I needed my front left airbag sensor replaced. I had the part in hand. I walked in and told them what I needed and they provided it and then some. Though I was pretty sure I knew the problem, I did take the diagnostic they offered (I recommend everyone take it, even if you think you know whats wrong with the car). They were up front about labor and updated me as it went along. It didnt even take that long (in and out in about an hour and a half/2 hours). I would highly recommend this place to anything with auto electrical needs.

People are strange when youre a stranger. I walked into this store today (for the first and last time) looking to purchase a car stereo. Tidewater Auto Electric is conveniently located within walking distance to my work. There were four or five people behind the counter, and I was the *only* customer in the store. I walked over to the car stereos to check out their limited selection. I compared their prices with a popular online source, and for being local, I thought a $30 disparity was acceptable. HOWEVER, no one bothered to come over to assist. They were all too busy talking to one another. When I walked up to the counter, there were still three people behind it, and to them, I was the invisible man. Im six feet tall... it takes effort to avoid eye contact with me. Richie, the manager, was there, and walked to one side of the counter to the other which was closer to me and slammed something down. Did he engage the customer NOW? Nope. Finally I spoke up. He answered my questions as disinterested as possible. I thanked him and left.I wanted to know if there was a friendly local source that could help me justify paying someone else to install my stereo. Since the alternative to doing it myself was to be ignored and then treated as an inconvenience, I think Ill pocket the 120 dollar difference and break out the soldering iron.

I had my car wired up for Amp and Subwoofer components. The overall work was good and solid. Had the tech quote me one price but when it came to pay was quoted about $30 more. After a minor adjustment they knocked it down $20. My only problem was that I left the car there and to job took 7 hours. Usually takes no more than two. I was told that they were backed up and had to squeeze me in. I would have rather waited for another day than sitting in the waiting room for a really, really, really, long time.Over all the work was good and clean. I am going to return for more work on my car and I hope to get the price i was quoted from the sales rep.

I wanted electric windows and door locks put on my truck, they did a nice job installing them. But my driver side window went out. Thats when I found out they charged me a $163 for the kit that they only used half of, they kept the rest of the spare parts to restock there shop. I know this because they wanted to charge me $12 dollars for a window crank that came in the kit I bought that they never gave me. NO MORE OF MY BUSINESS

Initially great conversation about the work that needed to done to my fiancés truck, on & off the phone. A day later I needed a follow up & had to try & talk to a certain worker that had no clue, remarks such as I think this is whats going on, we will need to check it out & charge you another $103 to look at it again after we just spent 400+! It should be a courtesy! This person is not helping their business & was rude to my fiancé as well, so unprofessional. I do appreciate the positive work & help from the positive worker.

We brought in our Caravan to diagnose a problem. $ 85.00. Approved repair $ 170.00. NOW they say the Airbag light is on. It was not on when it went in. NOW they want to charge me ANOTHER diagnosis fee to diagnose SOMETHING THEY BROKE !!!

Paid them to apparently NOT fix an issue with my car even though they claim to have X amount of years of experience. They had my car for a week and when I finally got it back, still not fixed, a part of my car was suddenly missing...hmm. This is not good business.
