We ordered a 5x5 unit online. The process was fool-proof. When we arrived to the unit, we noticed piping that ran across the middle of the unit. We had planned on stacking our bins to utilize that space. I called the office and was immediately helped — they met us at the unit and promptly showed us to a new unit. Very impressed with the service as well as the space of a 5x5 unit. Would recommend!

Extra Space.. Gets you in, on a deal, and then whammo, they hit you with a 30% increase (10% maybe but 30% really), around a yr, give or take.. Prompting me, to get on a plane, rent a truck, and get rid of the stuff I dont need, and am Completely Wasting Money, paying for, mos, after mos (add it up).. If you try to move in after hours and have a problem, forget it. Youre out of luck. Their systems are designed to prevent you from speaking with a real person.I arrived with truck and two helpers on a Sunday and the unit I had rented was locked. No manager on site, nobody answered the local number I called, none of the automated toll free numbers gave any option to contact a human being (at least that I could find), and the live chat wasnt live. We ended up breaking into an empty unit that was closed with a zip tie and clearly waiting for another new customer, and hoped for the best. It worked out in the end but we wasted a lot of time and aggravation.The next day I spoke with a local manager who was very apologetic but admitted this does happen sometimes - so they know about it but dont fix it. I thought all the companies with such lousy customer service were out of business by now but this one is still standing. Not sure why. I would not use them again, even with the promos that make it seem cheap to start out.Update 2/24/21: the owners response suggests to call (888) STORAGE for live support. It would have been nice to know that in advance. But that number isnt published on their web site or in their emails. Not helpful. Sorry, fail. The fact is this company does not want to talk live to its customers.

Kristina at the Water Street Wakefield location was amazing. She made the process easy, answered all my questions and followed through on all the information needed for a contactless transaction at her facility. This was essential given the pandemic and need to move stuff in a timely manner. When I arrived, I found the facility to be exceptionally clean and everything functioning properly. My unit had all the necessary paperwork and locks required. I highly recommend this facility to anyone. Their rates are fantastic, the transaction was flawless and the facility was the cleanest I have ever encountered. Thank you for all your help, Kristina!! I would highly recommend using Extra Space storage. I used Extra Space storage in Wakefield in between house moves. I had one smaller storage unit and one larger one for furniture. It was wonderful working with Kristina - she was very careful in providing access during COVID and super easy to get a hold of when I needed to.The facility is very new and well kept.If I need more storage, I will happily go back to Extra Space Storage in Wakefield!

Clean and secure location. Friendly and professional staff.

Registration was very easy, I actually did that online through the chat feature (I had a couple questions about the facility first). Once I was registered, Garrett, tho was extremely welcoming, called me within a couple hours to square away details and was very accommodating and explained the specific features of the facility. The lease was filled out all online and they left the lock in the unit for me to pick up at my earliest convenience.My criticism is that once inside, you enter a maze of identical storage units and its impossible to find your way and very easy to get lost, especially if youre new to the facility. A floor plan once you get off the elevator would be key. At least place signs, similar to what youd find in a hotel, identifying which direction locker number groups are in (example 1000-1100).

I called ahead of time to get an idea of whether Id need movers to help me unload, as well as specific questions about the space and the amount of furniture it could fit. She was incredibly helpful and precise, and upon arrival was very friendly and efficient throughout the process. The move was very smooth and the facility was clean and well-run.

I had a great experience at this location. The woman working there was along each time I went. A slender woman w long hair. She went above and beyond and followed state regulations on covid19. She was the first person I really did business with after moving to Massachusetts several months ago. She helped me at the unit up until I moved out. Highly recommend. Clean and orderly. High traffic can be a headache w multiple trucks. My only suggestion would be to extend the parking lot near the door. I think Kristina was her name!!

Ive been storing my stuff for a couple of months now. The place is immaculate! This past weekend was a busy weekend but I was able to get a cart move myself into my unit. I realized I needed additional space. Dana was great with helping get a additional unit. The next day I was having trouble with my lock and he immediately came up and helped me exchange it.Excellent service and clean unit. I would recommend it!

I cant say enough about Kristina and wish I could give her more stars! I stopped in months ago to ask questions and was amazed at her level of interest in my storage needs! I asked her to hold a unit for me, and I kept pushing the date back as my move date was unknown. Just last week she called to confirm the date and again I pushed it back as my move was being done in 2 phases and I didnt need it until after the 2nd phase. Turns out my mover wanted to put items in storage that day. I called Kristina to tell her I needed the unit and would be there in about 10 minutes. She actually went and opened the unit, got me a lock per my request and got the elevator ready for our arrival! I took care of the paperwork as the mover was putting items in the unit! She is unbelievable efficient and really seems to care about her customers and the facility! Thank you, Kristina-for everything! You are the best!

Friendly, casual, efficient, talked me through my first self storage experience with patience and humor. My experience with Dana was SO positive that my roommate decided to go with this company and location as well! And he had the exact same stress-free lovely experience with Dana. The facility itself is super new, slick, easy to access, and clean. From start to finish, renting a storage unit from Extra Storage and the Wakefield location specifically was incredibly smooth, pleasant, and stress-free, which is SUCH a blessing during stressful moving times.
