This shop is awesome! I was looking everywhere for Rime 2.0 shoes in 8.5s and they seemed to be non-existent. The stores from Specialized page were thousands of miles away, had inaccurate stock, or simply didnt ship. But not Encinas Cycling Center! (better wordplay, feel free to use that ;P) Very pleased to have these show up just a few days later rather than a were sorry... email. Thanks again!

Got hooked into this shop because it was the only one that had the bike model and size I was looking for (actually, the sister store, in Clayton). Just brought the bike back (which I love) for its first tune up, and found that while it would take 2 weeks to get the tune up done. The derailleur had shifted out of place, so I left the bike, and fixed up the one its replacing.It took the full two weeks to get the bike back, but it was in perfect shape when I picked it up. As I was waiting to get the bike, I heard them again quoting 2 week wait times for getting bikes fixed. I was not disposed to give a great review, but I can see why they have a 2 week backlog. Techs seemed all quite competent and absolutely a team.As I was waiting to pick up the bike, I found a seat of type I was looking for (think living room sofa), and the tech who brought the bike back got it swapped onto the bike right then. All interactions with other customers confirmed a level of competence that was impressive. If I didnt have a great shop near my house, Id definitely be a steady customer. If something happens to my neighborhood shop, I would definitely use them for the big tune-ups.The owner has to be someone great to have a workplace this good, at least from what I saw. The whole thing made me pleased with the entire experience.

I have had the good fortune of living in Clayton for 20+ years. We have purchased several bikes from the Clayton store. Today, however I treated myself to a new specialized series 2 stump jumper! The Clayton staff was amazing. They told me a lot about the bike they just didn’t have my size. There level of knowledge on bikes is very comforting.Today in Walnut Creek Everett and another young man took me thru the entire bike and we sealed the deal. Everett was awesome I told him I haven’t rode mountain bikes in about 10 years, and he gave me ton of great info, explained everything perfectly. Also suggested some basic riding gear that I also bought. You can’t buy this kind of customer service these days in any industry. Such a great experience! I will be a customer for years to come!

My wife and I had been searching for a low entry bicycle and were not having any luck. We called Encina Bicycle Center in Clayton and they didn’t have what we were looking for, but called their other stores and found out the bikes were available at their Walnut Creek location! We called the Walnut Creek location and they agreed to place them on hold until we arrived. We jumped in our car and drove an hour and a half to the location, where the bikes were waiting for us with a Hold tag visible on each one. We took them for a test spin and asked some questions. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We bought the bikes and couldn’t be happier with them! Highly recommend Encina Bicycle Center

I stopped into The bike center with my son for his bday. He picked out a bike - specialized rock hopper but they didn’t have it in the color and size he needed- they located the needed size and color at their second store next to Wholefoods, called down and arranged everything for us. Jerrod, was great, he fitted my son for a new helmet as well that matched the bike. Good guys, I recommend this place ... try it out .

In and out in 10 minutes max. Had a flat pet stroller tire to be fixed which I thought I would have to drop off and pick up later. They fixed immediately and cost was minimal. Nice guys. Thanks.

Everett hooked it up! I needed some smaller parts for a shock replacement. He dropped what he was doing to disassemble my shock to find me the right parts. Showed me how to reassemble it. Saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you.

Staff here is really helpful along with giving you space and time to browse which I always appreciate. Prices are reasonable and staff is knowledgeable and friendly everytime Ive gone in here. Bike stuff can get pretty technical so the patience and enthusiasm is always much appreciated and this place delivers that tenfold. Thanks!

First went here in 1990. Road or Mountain...this is one of the classiest bike shops in the area. The owner is a Kung Fu master of bicycles.

They have been fantastic!! Nelson fitted my bike, Llama and others fix flats on the fly for me, and have done some adjustments for free. Buying my next bike today and Jeff was fantastic, fitted me w/ a sweet Specialized, let me ride it out back and I cant wait to get it home, thx to all here, very shocked to see anyone of these guys called snobby or rude on a review, not my experience at all.

Girlfriend bought a bike online and all the bike shops we called said they were weeks out to be able to help with the brake lines and other components to make it safe to ride. Called and Daniel said they would take a look at it to see what they could do before we scheduled an appointment. Dropped the bike at 11am and picked it up same day in a matter of hours. If you need help, Daniel is the man, and will take care of your needs as best he can. Appreciate the quality customer service and vouching for us!

The two staff members I spoke with were extremely rude and snobby. Careful, if you dont use perfect terminology, they will treat you as their lesser. One of them wouldnt even attempt to help me, not even by offering suggestions, when I asked him about cassettes I saw online because I didnt know the exact tooth count...wow, bro.

The rental experience was smooth, the bike was in great order, and they didnt seem to mind that Id used up all the break pads riding down Mt. Diablo! Definitely recommend, especially the close proximity to the trails on the mountain.

Great bike shop with a good selection of road bikes available to rent. I rented a 2017 Specialized Roubaix for a few days, including a ride up Mount Diablo. Their rental prices are very reasonable and they set the bike up to my preferences in a few minutes. The Roubaix was in good condition. Ill definitely rent from them again during future visits to the East Bay are.

I dont have a bike, but my kids have bikes. I also had a stroller with bike tires. They fixed all of them no problem. They have great customer service, usually quick, and overall excellent quality of service.

Broughty bike in for because it was making a weird clicking sound. They diagnosed the problem and offered a solution. They also filled up my tire and oiled chain for free!! This was a great trip and I found my new favorite bike shop

Encina bikes is the best when I visited Encina bikes I was told I would have my bike done as soon as possible and so they did as soon as possible I would highly suggest taking your bike to Encina bikes, they have amazing customer service and theyre shopping team is overall phenomenal 👌 my opinionIt doesnt get better then this shop

Arrived a little before 10 am on Saturday. Watched the guys pull out all the bikes. Pretty cool. Was able to have a tire and tube replaced on the spot within minutes. Excellent customer service. Gave us tips on how to avoid future blowouts. (Over inflation)Bottom line, support small businesses.

I love these guys! I bought my Trek road bike from them in 2013. They have lived up to their promise of complimentary tune-ups and have also done a great job of getting several parts covered by the manufacturers warranty. Having a good bike shop in your back pocket is critical to having a bike in good shape and these guys will make it happen.

Dave, a mechanic at this shop, is top notch. He looked hard for a couple of pinch bolts I needed, and could not find them in his stock. I left and was backing out of my parking spot, a good ways from the store.Dave chased me down, he found brand new ones individually sealed.I was so impressed he did that to help me for two $6 bolts. To support a good shop, I also bought a nice Park allen tool. Great job, great shop.

Good bike sales and service center. I purchased my Trek mtn bike here several years ago and have always had Encina keep it in top performing condition. They have added several mods and fixed damages from a run in with a 4 wheeler.

I came to this shop after taking 10 years from my BMX lifestyle of riding. The level of expertise by the staff as well as the pricing was excellent. The service was expedient and they have always been willing to help with advice. They have fixed my flat a couple times at costs. I cant speak on what may have happened a few years back but these guys are outstanding

A friend and I bought two amazing SC Bronsons from this shop. Tim is such a great guy, very personable and willing to go the distance to make the overall experience pleasant and easy going. Where as when I scouted out the purchase with other east bay shops... the experience was not the same. Most all the other shops I inquired on, with a couple of exceptions, were not personable or willing to work out a deal and condescending - presuming I knew nothing without engaging with me. Either they were too pompous and indecisive on their pricing... couldnt commit or too corporate and disconnected.Tim was willing to work with me, answered my questions, provided a truly amazing deal and has the best staff. His team of mechanics are knowledgeable, quick and efficient, very approachable, personable and fun to talk shop with. Chris is such a great guy and very competent as a mechanic. Super smart, friendly and very helpful. Can say the same about Jeff too... as well as the other guys. Just a stellar team.There have been a couple of scenarios where I needed an adjustment, broken chain fix, etc... Tim and his crew fixed me up on the spot and had me back on the trail in minutes with no charge. BEST customer service out there!!! I am happy to support this shop, buying everything I need from them.I would HIGHLY recommend anyone interested in buying a bike, gear or just need their existing bike fixed/ upgraded to use Encina bikes. You will leave with a smile and want to come back again for anything bike!

The good: Tim and Co. have always been helpful. Sure its a small shop, but for the most part theyve been accommodating to my training schedule as best as they can. They are very good about spot fixes and re-adjustments. Most of the time I can count on a positive attitude and a clear and knowledgable explanation for a repair.The not so good (and reason for 4/5 stars): Are all of the mechanics as friendly as they could be? Almost all (99%) of them are. Hats off to all of them though, because I would probably be grumpy too if I had to deal with customer questions all day, every day.Bottom line: I am a satisfied and long time customer and will continue to go to Encina. I appreciate dealing with a small shop versus the chain down the street with a completely boarded up mechanics pit where you feel like the people working on your bike are hiding from you.

Encinas staff is passionate about biking, and take pride in their inventory and their service. Yet, the pricing is very fair. Their service is beyond expectations, and never gouge anyone. All this is expected with their longevity. Its just a top-notch classic bike shop that will have my business as long as both of us are around.

The service at this bike shop is very bad, slow. They dont seem to care about service, customers or anything. Ive had to go back two times to get a over all servicing done to my bike. I couldnt get them to tell me what has been done or not. They over charged me on service from what they had first told me. I was told by another person that their staff really only understands Mt. bikes not road bikes. It cost me nearly $300 to get servicing done. They were to clean the bike also which wasnt done. NOT GOOD AT ALL. BEWARE OF THIS SHOP.

Went there looking for new bikes. Got sold 20 extra bike locks. Then I went riding and got a flat. Took it there and they put the gel in it. Decided to charge us for the gel even though they wanted to overcharge us the first time for locks. Then we bought a pump. It didnt work on our tires. Then we got a new one, only this one didnt work either. Now the tire has a slow drain, i guess the gel they sold us didnt work very well either. This is now the 4th time I am heading to the bike shop due to problems when buying my bike. Bareware of the people, their expertise is sure lacking at this location.
