Kind of knew what I wanted but the very helpful staff asked questions and based on my needs was able to set me up with the perfect boots and the most comfortable socks ever. Prices are very reasonable. Great selection. Online ordering is quick and easy, and SB is quicker with expediting their orders than Amazon and shipping was free. Great staff!

The bike service dept. at Sports Basement WC has always been top notch. Ive been using them for years, even though I dont live particularly close by. The work assessments have always been very fair / reasonably priced and the service quick. Theyve also been incredibly helpful when it comes to giving advice. I could not recommend them enough!I also have to give a special shout out to the staff for bringing my bike up front for pick up even though I arrived a few minutes after close last night. I really appreciated them going the extra mile to accommodate me. Thanks again!

Great experience with the team @ SB WC. I needed pedals and clips and when we were done in the rental shop and headed over to the bike dept. The whole bike team was super helpful... Mario, Rex, etc were all awesome. Mario tended to the bike one more time and gave it another quick tune up. Rex helped me get sorted with new clips and loaner pedals. Thank you!My only friendly suggestion to the rental shop / store would be to call the customer when the bike arrives. Perhaps it had just arrived, and if that was the case then my apologies for the inapplicable comment. I stopped in one day to check out adjustable dumbbells and a weight bench. I was impressed by the quality and price compared to the research I had done on a similar name brand product.I brought my husband back later that evening to purchase them. We were assisted by very helpful, friendly employees who helped us load up the equipment, and load it into our vehicle as well. We also got a better deal for being a Basementeer! We’re very happy with our purchases and the quality customer service we received.

Awesome staff, very different experience then traditional bike shops where they act like your not there and like your dumb for not having a $7000 bike. They didnt try to upsell me at all, instead made sure that I knew all of my options. I went in for a Large $1200 bike and they fitted me better with a Medium $900 bike. Also being a member got me a 10%, plus they took my trade in for $200. I would totally recommend them!

Great work from the SB crew on fixing my front Apex 1 brake level. It needed a good bleeding. Took the bike in at 5pm and picked it up and 5pm the next day. Good stuff!

It seems over the last 3-5 years that the shoe selection has declined in brands, styles and sizes - frankly, its kind of a mess. Additionally, the soccer shoe selection was nearly bare bones. Weve seen this in both WC and Berkeley stores.The camping equipment is always top-notch and affordable.

There is no hard sell here. What I was pleasantly surprised was how easy & quick it is to rent sports gear for not just me, but the whole family. Rental prices are reasonable for high quality, name brand, barely used sports clothing and gear - I rented snow boots for Tahoe. They were warm and my feet were dry.Sports Basement has a great selection of kids sports stuff and rents kids snow gear starting at 12 -18 months old. Totally makes sense to rent if you only go to Tahoe once a year and the Rental department will tell you that instead of buying.Their weekend rental is from Thursday to Monday will returning done by Tuesday. Sports Basement will not charge a rental fee if you cannot get to Tahoe because of snow conditions.

I was shopping for the comfortable athletic shoes for a while and finally purchased a pair of womens $130 Hoka shoes at SB in Walnut Creek only to realize at home that these shoes were not new, they definitely have been worn - the soles were dirty and shoes themselves somewhat out of shape. SB has a great return policy which is wonderful but it looks like they just put returned and worn shoes on the shelf for the full price of the new shoes. I called the store and talked to a manager in charge of a shoe department (did not catch his name). He reacted like this was not a big deal and said I could just bring shoes back for a full refund, he did not even offer an apology. Of course I have no intention of shopping at SB ever! They require masks to enter the store and sell me shoes worn by somebody else in COVID times... Disgusting!

The Sports Basement Staff went beyond, beyond to help me choose the right road bike & equipment for me —- even when it wasn’t at their store ! I am totally devoted & will always look there first & usually will find what I need & enjoy the experience so much more than elsewhere . What a team ! What individuals ! What a company ! I was in the store to purchase Rock Tape for my wife. At different times it has been moved to various locations in the store. However, it was particularly difficult to find the Rock Tape on my own. A store employee had to point me in the right direction. Not a big deal, as a lot of items have been moved around in the store.

I was looking for a bike rack for my eBikes and Mike in the bike department at their Walnut Creek store was amazing. He helped me locate the rack online and had it assembled by the time I got to the store.

Customer service was excellent. They took my temp. At the door. Came in to test ride a Cannondale I was interested in and test rode 2 bikes. Mario was very knowledgeable and friendly. It also was spacious enough inside that we were able to practice social distancing with no problem. They also have a bike shop and great selection of accessories.

Poorly run website. Online order for skis was cancelled two different times for two different skis. Why say the ski is available online when its not? I understand its that time of year for people to get ski gear but there must be some sort of inventory problem? Not sure. Wasted 2.5 weeks of ski research and shopping only to receive a cancelled order email with a 20% off code; To me, that says, hey we caught your attention and got your hopes up by listing this. Sorry, its no longer available but hey, come spend more money. Now I am left scrambling to find a pair of skis that fits my needs/type of skiing in Utah. Hoped to find a way to solve the problem but my suggestion was ignored when I asked if it was even logical. I shop at Sports Basement for all my outdoor needs but am very frustrated.. to the point I would not recommend their online store to anyone.

I needed a new pair of running shoes and since a recent knee injury I had a difficult time choosing the right shoe. Thank Goodness for the lady who helped me in the shoe department as she was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Ski dept. employees are very rude, aggressive, and confrontational with zero customer service abilities. If I was the manager of this dept I would have hired passionate individuals who know how to talk to customers, non-Native speakers, foreigners, etc. sorry I had to give zero star. There was not any choice for that.

Very professional staff. Took our temperatures at the door with a machine that doesnt touch you. Markings on the floor directing the flow of traffic, and no one went near you without a face mask. Very easy to maintain a 6ft distance btwn others. Felt very safe. And as always, they have a great selection of products. 10/10 would shop there again.

This is a high-end retail chain specializing in sports categories ranging from basics like tennis to camping and triathlon training. this particular location is tidy and well organized, and the staff are exceptionally polite and eager to help. that said, the selection was lacking, imo. went in for two seemingly basic items and got blank stares. maybe thats on me. still, the FoS was a,little TOO choked with energy bars and beverage containers. one perk of this chain is that they offer rentals like bikes and such, which one really cant find anywhere else. Finally, they are pricey, more so than REI. expect to spend $75 to $200 on an average visit. overheats in line with your budget, then Id recommend this retailer. they offer things other stores dont.

I left a review on yelp and decided to leave one here too because of how much me and my son loved our first time in the store. I had an amazing experience buying a tennis racket for my boy who is starting his first year of tennis. Tristan who works in the tennis department went way above and beyond to provide amazing and insightful service and got us set up with a racket my son absolutely loves. The rentals department as well was very friendly and helped us rent rackets to try out. Definitely coming back to Sports Basement in the future!

Dave is an excellent boot fitter. He is very knowledgeable about all ski gear and steered me toward the best boot for my particular feet and style of skiing. There are things you cannot buy online because you need expert advice and attention. I highly recommend Dave for his expertise.

I had an issue with my ski boots that couldn’t be resolved. Rodger thoroughly measured my old boots that had only been on the hill less than ten times and remeasured my foot. Unfortunately, there we no boots in stock that would fit me. Because I was a member of their customer program, he refunded the price of the boots. But Rodger’s great service didn’t stop there. I had mentioned that I was going skiing on Thursday for a long weekend and now did not have boots. Rodger offered to comp me a boot rental for the weekend. He took me over to the rental department where he introduced me to Ryan who handled the rental. We all realized that since I didn’t have my skis with me and I live in the Napa Valley it would be difficult for me to return with my skis by Wednesday to properly adjust the boots to my bindings. So they both went above and beyond to include skis in the rental.Wow! That is what I call great customer service! I hope when I return from my ski trip that more boots will be in stock. I certainly want to do business with a company that puts customers first.

I would not put them in the top notch in bicycle repair. I was quoted $100 dollars for simple cable and wire repair on a deraileurs. . I mean it is an ok place if you are rich and dont want to replace your own flat. But that begs the question why are you riding a bike if you cant repair a flat. U want bike repair. Cycle Sports Grand Ave Oaktown. The real deal. But tennis racket stringing? Ask for Leonard. There is the real deal there,

Ive been going to this store since it first opened years ago! Joined the weekly running group for a number of years as well. Friendly staff, always have the nutrition that I need and enjoy purchasing running shoes there from time to time. Its simply a great environment!
