I was initially impressed with this company when I dealt with the sales side. I received a quote quite quickly and it was easy to sign the contract. However, thats when the disappointment started. It took a week after I signed the contract to hear back about the installation, which couldnt be scheduled until the permit was obtained. It took another week to get the permit and then the installation was scheduled for the earliest available time--2 weeks later. That meant that it was more than 4 weeks from the time I signed the contract (and paid half of what was due) to the beginning of the installation. The process of installation was never explained, so I had no idea when I was actually going to be able to use my pool heater. After the initial installation of the tanks and running the line to my pool heater it was another week before the inspector came out to approve it and several more days before the installers returned to do the final connections. The process took WAY longer than I ever anticipated (around 6 weeks total) before I finally had gas to use for my pool heater. If this had all been explained to me up front so that I knew what to expect, I would have given a much better review. The sales person was delightful to talk to, the installers were polite and worked efficiently and did a nice job. I am just frustrated about never being told what to expect. Managing expectations is worth a lot!

Excellent service. Karen was professional all the way through the whole process. We converted from oil to gas and at times during the changeover it got very frustrating, thank goodness for hocon. Hocon gas, inc repaired my Tankless hot water heater that they didn’t install. The heat exchanger sprung a leak and the company warranty covered the parts but not the labor. Hocon trouble shot the problem, consulted with the manufacturer, ordered the parts and installed the heat exchanger. Now plenty of hot water and unit running great. Since the labor port of the warranty had run out, Hocon negotiated a very reasonable labor cost that didn’t break the bank and was very fair. Worked with me on a good day and time and was on time. He cleaned up the area he worked and untouched, you wouldn’t even know anyone was there. Very pleasant and professional. Very easy to contact and a person actually answered the phone every time not a machine. I highly recommend their service.

Customer service is very nice. However, as a business Im extremely disappointed. There propane prices are high, so I contracted with another company for a lower amount. When I scheduled to pick up my tank on Dec 16, 2020, I was told Id get reimbursed for the remainder of the gas in my tank. I had used it the day before and the needle was just below 10%. Well, my tank sat on my lawn for almost a month before it was picked up. I just called today to find out about my reimbursement and they are telling me there was no gas when they picked it up and they arent giving me a dime. This is just bad business and untrustworthiness.

The installation of the gas lines and completion of the project went well. However, communication was poor to average at best. Many inquiries as to timing, status and other questions went unanswered or significantly delayed. An appointment set up with them by our electrician was missed and had to be rescheduled.

Getting set up with Hocon Gas was really easy. I talked with real people who were friendly and responsive. It was easy to get my questions answered and my account was activated quickly. The technician who came out to inspect the propane tank and fill it was friendly and polite, and even showed me how my gas heater for my porch worked (we just moved into a new house).

I had an installation for a whole house generator and gas fireplace. This installation was done from scratch and went along without a hitch. All employees, from office staff to field team, were knowledgeable, personable, and courteous. I’ve had no issues with these installations and whenever I have called to clarify an issue that I don’t fully understand, I have been treated courteously and professional and never left without full clarification of my questions. I highly recommend Hocon Gas for your needs.

Hocon has always responded promptly to any emergency service I requested. Their customer care personnel are patient and knowledgeable and their prices are fair. Hocon has been my familys propane provider throughout three generations and we have had only positive experiences with the company.

Very grateful during the aftermath of Storm Isaias. We are a tree service and are running all our crews to safely help people and make their homes and properties safe. We were almost out of propane for our generator, which runs our office. Without the generator, we cant help our customers. But: The office personnel at Hocon understood our situation and was able to dispatch a delivery to us before we ran out of propane. Because of that person (Patti), and because of the two nicest delivery people who dodged trees and wires to get here, (thank you!!!) our service rolls with a domino like effect. Our office runs. We can take in the calls and emails of distress (crushed houses), we can dispatch our crews to safely remove trees off of houses, to clear driveways for those who need emergency services and continue communications with our crews on the road. Because of those actions, our customers are safe and can get out to get fuel, water, food, phone charging, make calls etc. Because of those actions, homes and other structures were saved from damage. Were very grateful. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you Hocon! The simple act of that delivery has affected 100s of people in a very positive way. Thank you!

Eric and Devin came today to repair my gas fireplace. I had been told by another company that the unit needed to be replaced and it would cost 3-5 thousand dollars. Eric and Devin determined that the only problem was that the receiver for the remote needed new batteries! They cleaned the fireplace, installed new embers and were done within an hour! They were very pleasant and a joy to have in my home.

Where do I start. I was forced to switch companies last summer. After researching and making tons of phone calls. I decided to go with Hocon.. Everyone is very friendly. Tank was delivered and filled..In January I needed a refill. I called and order, without problem.. Then the bill came. To my absolute shock, I was charged $6.85 per gal. My family member who lives next door turned her tank off due to the sticker shock. I attempted to call over this bill but office was closed and my work schedule was not easy. I paid the bill which is outrageous, against my better judgement. . Now I admit I do not use a lot pf propane, it is only for a fireplace, but over $6.00 / gal. Im still shocked. The national average was $2/03 /gal during this time. I know that not using a lot can make the price go up, but tripled. I will be looking for a new company this fall for me and my family member..

Hocon is a reliable, affordable company. We have propane tanks outside for our gas stove, and Hocon automatically refills the tanks when necessary; we dont have to do a thing! I highly recommend Hocon!

During power outages this company was on the ball. Quick refills and kept us running.Where they lack is there Covid response. During a recent service call, there technician seldom wore his mask. When he did it was not large enough to cover his mouth and his nose. For a commercial company too sent people into the field to directly serve the public and interact with people in there homes is really not acceptable.Would not call again for service.

Just had two LP tanks and a new heater for my pool installed. When I called for a quote, they insisted a sales rep come out for the quote versus giving it over the phone. Karen DePara was very professional and knowledgeable and able to answer my many questions. After leaving she promptly emailed me a quote (which was equal/better to the others I received) which included a detailed description of everything - no hidden surprises. After deciding to move forward with the job, Karen took care of pulling the town permit and came back out to reassess the project to make sure there would be no surprises when the techs came to do the install. She was on-site during the install, which took a few hours. Kyle and Phil (?) did a great job with the install and arranged for the town inspector to be by shortly after they were done. Got the approval and the next morning the final hookup and filling of the tanks occurred. All in all, highly recommend Hocon...friendly service, fair prices and an all around good experience.

Great experience. Had 2 tanks installed for a new generator. Neat workmanship and friendly employees. Price was fair and any issues were dealt with immediately.

We were amongst many in CT that were told abruptly that Ferrell Gas was no longer going to do business in CT., and that we had 30 days to find another provider. This, after charging us a high price for fully filling our propane just days before the notice. Talk about feeling violated! I called Hocon of Waterbury and spoke with Rich who said calmly,, dont worry well be out there in two days to set you up. Two days later Hocons staff were there, they completed the switch, inspected and lit our appliances, documented the serial #s of all our devices and left us with a great feeling of comfort and security. About a week later we got a call from their office to be sure all went well and that we were satisfied. Cudos to Rich and his staff! They TRULY have customer satisfaction permeated throughout their organization!

The technician was very thorough and proficient in his work and was appropriately wearing his COVID-19 mask. He completed the job quickly and explained what he had done. We are very happy we switched to Hocon for our propane provider.

Hocon has been great! Weve used Hocon since we moved into our new home in 2016. We had never used propane for heating before, but from the application process and every other step of the way they have been extremely helpful. They were very flexible with us during our first winter given that we had never used propane before and didnt know what to expect during our first winter. Since then weve locked in great rates each fall by pre-buying our fuel. Darlene specifically has been incredible!

Im a new propane customer who needed work done and a couple tanks for a pool spa we are putting in. I went with HoCon because they knew what they were talking about and gave very competitive prices compared to some I saw. So far everything has gone well including the install and inspection, and Im hoping that continues going forward.

I have had a great experience doing business with Hocon, they have been prompt and responsive. We plan on making some changes in our home and will not hesitate to call for service.

Called to order propane for our pool and asked how much it was a gallon, I was told since we have not ordered since last year it would be $6.00 a gallon, nice way to treat a loyal customer, found another company for $2.01 a gallon and havent used them in seven years and still had a open account with them. Crooks, avoid at all costs. There are plenty of other propane companies out there who want to do business with you, call them. This company was looking to rob me with my eyes wide open and saw me as an ATM. They think it’s industry standard to charge multiple annual tank rental fees- ITS NOT. They think it’s standard to charge to hookup their tank for them to bill you- ITS NOT. They think it’s industry standard to charge back permit fees- ITS NOT. I don’t know how they are still in business except feeding off those that do not know-SHAME ON THEM. Good luck.

Just switched to hocon after a hassle over a billing error from another company. hocon has competitive prices with an especially great deal for new customers, and just as important everyone i dealt with [by phone] was extremely pleasant and helpful.

We too were Bouchard customers and although there were some paperwork issues in account transfer and billing the folks at Hocon were nice and now we are enjoying great customer service. We recently purchased a contract for 1,000 gals. at a reduced price and couldn’t be happier since this is one thing that Bouchard did not offer.

Ouch, I can still feel the pain from Hocon sticking it to me over and over.I was a customer for almost ten years with little to no problems they brought propane and I paid them by the end of the week of delivery and things were good. I never ran out of fuel, rates were in line with local competitors equipment was serviced as required and kept clean, customer service was great, the way things should be. I would even go out of my way and bring my grill tanks to Waterbury to get filled because the people were friendly and the place was nice.About two years ago things changed and not for the better, rates started climbing above the local market rates, my tanks would go weeks past when they should have been filled drivers became surly, customer service became rude, if I wanted a tank filled I had to be at the office a half hour before closing or they were locking the door and leaving. The end for me was when they tried to charge me $5+ a gallon for fuel, I called and negotiated it down but still was charged over $4.50 that is insane and way out of line with local market rates for heating, and I was still paying within a week of delivery. I dont know what happened at Hocon, but whatever it was it was not for the better. For now Hocon has taken their tanks and I have taken my business elsewhere, I hate to say this, but the pattern that they are in is the same as several oil companies in the area that just closed up and left literally overnight, I hope it doesnt come to that.Like I said they were good people to deal with before but now they need to fix whatever got broken and rebuild their reputation.UPDATE: At the beginning of last heating season the former service manager from Hocon showed up at my door selling propane for another company, he was hitting every person on his old list from Hocon. Thank you again Hocon for keeping my personal information safe.

We miss being Bouchard Fuels customers and when switched we ended up dealing with Guilford office. We call for oil fillup and they always come by end of week. Price is comparable.

Stay way from Hocon gas.. they will make you feel that theyre doing you a favor delivery the gas.I missed the tank rental payment of 30 days and they sent the 75$ bill to collection. What company does that especially if they are service your house.

I guess Im the dissenting opinion on Hocon. Weve been a customer for ten years. Im not a large volume propane customer so I expect to pay more per gallon than large volume customers. Its expensive for them to send a truck and driver to my house to deliver a small amount of propane.I was having problems getting my fireplaces started today and called them. The person who took my call was polite and helpful. I talked to the service manager John a couple of times and he talked me thru troubleshooting steps and got my fireplaces working and saved me from an expensive service call. John was awesome and couldnt have been more polite and helpful.

Avoid at all costs! Do not use this company!! I paid to lease one of their tanks but somehow the person who was in charge messed up the paperwork. This company trespassed on my property and took the tank without asking and without reimbursement for what I had paid. When I called to follow up, the man I was speaking with could not have been more rude and continued to mansplain things to me and assumed I didnt know what I was talking about because I am a woman.I provided the company an easy solution to make up for the money that was essentially stolen from me but they continued to be more rude and suggest that my husband handle things in the future. Steer clear from this company! They are rude and dont deserve your business

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We recently purchased a new house and leased a propane tank already attached to our new house from Hocon in addition to paying for the remaining propane inside. Today, we realized our propane tank was removed from the house at the request of the previous owner without our knowledge. Hocon completely disregarded the fact that we were leasing this tank. When we called, John was beyond rude to my fiancé, assuming that we never paid for the tank, which we did. Hocon was ready to charge us an additional $300 (forget about giving back our money for the lease) to remove the ceramic logs from our fireplace so we can use it with wood.I highly suggest all potential customers look elsewhere as Hocon is extremely unethical and dishonest in their practices and cheats their customers.

Worst customer service. They over charged more than $1.51 to $2.90 a gallon on my Mothers elderly account for 3 years in a row.When we found out we wrote letters and dropped them like a rock. This companys driver even stole our platform my dad made for the tank. They said they would return it but never did. Stay away.. far away.

I rent a 1000 gallon tank from Hocon Waterbury. On Feb 24th a received a 300 gallon delivery at $4.34 per gallon - Called several other companies and was quoted $1.97 to $2.12 per gallon Contacted Hocon Waterbury and the bill was lowered to $3.60 still way over the going rate. Friday March 13th I talked to the manager Dan (rude) and he told me the price was because of my consumption and that the 1000 gallon tank is to big for what I needed. He gave me the option to buy the tank at over $3600!! How many years have they been price gouging-

This one of the worst business I have ever dealt with in my entire life just a bunch of scammers ... that seriously need a lawsuit filed against them ASAP ... they trick you into and introductory rate and then shoot the prices up 4 and 5 times not only that they give less options of what to do to stay away from them ( let me save you time if you are leasing their equipment just buy the tank out ) ... they take their time in removing their locks and not only that they fail to tell you when you buy the tank that you are still on automatic delivery and if you don’t make sure you are off if that they will deliver to you regardless if you wanted the propane or not ( selling you propane by force )Stay away from this company and if you are with them do anything to get out of there !!!!
