Super yummy breakfast that calls for a hearty nap afterwords! The seating outside was nice and the server was very friendly.I got the Spanish Omelette with added avocado and loaded potatoes with sourdough toast. Slapped it with hot sauce and devoured the whole thing with glee. Their apple fritters are also super huge, fluffy and moist! The only slight downside (which barely mattered compared to how awesome everything was) is that the toast didnt have significant sourdough flavor.Inside are self serve beverages (solid cold brew coffee!) such as soda, various teas, decaf, etc. Might have to wait ~20min for a seat during busy times but worth it :)
Always a great time with tasty hot and fresh breakfast options. I ordered the house pancakes and impossible patty sandwich. I love the tiny gold butters that are reminiscent of Irish cream butter (super tasty). The impossible patty needed more seasoning but the egg was cooked perfectly and the sandwich was altogether good. An amazing croissant donut with caramel drizzle on my way out and you can never go wrong.
This was really good food and staff was outstanding. We came in for a late dinner on a Friday night at 8:00 p.m. It was after the dinner rush. The diners food was homestyle and excellent. The chips are delicious. They had great signature cocktails that quenched my thirst and was completely unexpected at a diner. Theyre definitely known for donuts, but I found their grill to be very satisfying. Definitely will be returning for another visit.
A great place to start your day. I was heading somewhere else and on a whim went here instead. Im glad I stopped inThe cronut was divine, each perfectly flaky bite put me right back in France with the true art of making a croissant. Although, this one was glazed and had a caramel drizzle which is completely western, but delectable and went great with their house blend.I also Danas breakfast sandwich, which is a BLTE on Texas toast, but it was done just right. The bread was evenly toasted, not too much or too little. The L&T were fresh and the egg cooked just under over hard so it made the combo just right. Most of their doughnuts are cake style. I got an eclair for a friend and tried a small piece. The icing and filling were just the right amount of sweet, unlike others where you bite in and almost feel a cavity growing.Friendly and attentive service. If youre looking for a place to work theyre hiring.@thewhitakerreview#Columbus#Diner#Doughnut#Food
Food was great. Got the teny little breakfast and everything was amazing. Pancakes are some of the best Ive had. Their cake donuts are also really great.
My son and I went here for lunch today and it was Excellent. We opted for breakfast and he had the chocolate chip pancakes, of which he is a connoisseur, and had high praise. I went with the DK sandwich with eggs, cheese, bacon on grilled glazed donut (not something I would normally order) and it was Delicious! We also ordered a DK pancake to try which was Ok. But their Donuts, which we got an assortment of to take home, were Awesome, not greasy and did not cause me GI distress! High Praise! A definite must try if in Columbus, Ohio. I Love the Grandview Heights area!
I cannot believe that Ive lived in Columbus for over two decades and didnt know this place was here! It is a quaint, tiny little diner tucked away in a quaint, tiny little part of town. We had sandwiches, salads, fresh cut fries and even some of their homemade donuts. I cannot wait to come back for breakfast and bring the whole family! So far based on my first visit, I would put this on any must visit list for the area!
My favorite diner in Columbus! Great donuts and greasy, delicious breakfast classics. I got scrambled eggs, loaded hash browns (the BEST!) and sausage links. Add to that a long john donut and I was in heaven. The inside dining area isnt very large, but they have an outdoor patio as well. You can come in just for donuts as well.Parking lot is small, but I think many people park on the street.
I want to start this review by saying I love DK Diner and recommend eating here and most of the interactions Ive had with staff are very positive. However, my most recent experience was pretty negative. The food was good, as usual, but our server was not. Someone in our party went and sat at our table after being on the wait list and the rest of us (only a party of 3 in total) joined him about five minutes later. While he was waiting for us, our server asked twice if we were coming in an accusatory tone and was just not friendly at all. As a server, I understand it can be annoying to wait for the rest of a party but it was literally only five minutes and he had ordered waters and got coffee while waiting. Once we arrived, she did not come back to the table for over ten minutes but was greeting and taking the orders of tables that arrived after us. When she finally came to our table I ordered a cocktail and she said to me in an extremely rude tone, you know that has alcohol in it, right?. Obviously I know and at first I thought she meant she needed to see my ID but then she never checked it. I know I wasnt blowing this out of proportion because the rest of my table said the way she talked down to me made them extremely uncomfortable. She was generally rude the whole time we were there, especially to me for some reason, and only brought one of drinks, which didnt even arrive until the same time as our food. Even though we felt bad, we had to ask a different worker for something because she did not visit our table until it was time for our check. We all usually tip AT LEAST 30%, so she really missed out by treating us so poorly.
I might have caught them on a bad day soni will give them another chance.I stopped in for breakfast because I was in the area an hour early and was hungry.DK ticked all the right boxes for places I like to try so in I went.First item that caught my eye was the biscuits and gravy - one of my favorites so I ordered that and eggs.Having lived and traveled in the deep South for decades I consider myself something of an expert on what to expect from this meal. As a retired baker from the same region I know biscuits and the range of what is acceptable. These biscuits were not acceptable. I tried to find something redeemable about them but could not.The gravy seemed canned, but was tasty so I was happy with that.I ordered eggs over easy but received a scramble instead, but was good so I did not complain. The waitress seemed to be very new but she was trying very hard and has the basics to be a good server.Southern biscuits are almost a religious item. When combined with gravy - well mess that up and its an almost unforgivable sin.The issue with the biscuits should be obvious and should have been caught even without tasting them.I will give them another chance hoping those biscuits were just a mistake
DK diner os a quaint little diner tucked away. If you are looking for an excellent traditional breakfast joint, look no further. Everyone must try the blueberry cake donuts, which are simply amazing. The DK pancakes will have you coming back again and again. Two other favorite dishes are the biscuits and gravy and corned beef hash. An excellent lunch entree is the turkey reuben with seasoned fries. If you are visiting Columbus, make sure you stop by.
If you havent been. You need to go. Once again another place i always forget about. A little hidden gem in the heart of Grandview. Love having breakfast there. And they do have a liquor license for those who want to indulge in something more than coffee or ice tea. Great spot.
I honestly don’t know where to start. We eat here often because 1. The food is always amazing 2. They have homemade donuts 3. They prices are outstanding 4. They are not only good at what they do but they’re fast too 5. Did I mention the homemade donuts?
I ordered donuts online for pickup for the next day. This was so convenient and my order was there for me when I came. I also bought more donuts, which my family enjoyed. These are delicious and filling! I always buy them when I come to Ohio to visit my daughters.
Food was good. Service friendly
This place is great. Pretty much everything that a breakfast place should be. Not outrageously overpriced as most breakfast places but still good quality food overall. My eggs were done just fine over easy. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bacon was crispy but not burnt. Service was fast too. They had self service drink bar where you just get up and get your own beverages which was great. Overall experience was fantastic. Definitely coming back here again in the future.
Generally, this place is great, and I visit with my gym partners at least once a week, if not more. In the past, weve always had great service, the food is tasty, and I really enjoy helping out a small business.Today, however, soured our experience. We arrived and there were a number of tables open on the patio, but not yet cleaned. Typically, the staff tell us that we can sit where ever there is an open table, and they clean the table off once they have a free minute. This time, my friend asked a waitress whether we could sit wherever was open, and the response, in a snippy and dismissive tone, was: Im waiting on people at this other table right now, so youre just going to have to wait until another server is available. We ended up seating ourselves anyway, and the waiter who then helped us was great. Unfortunately, I couldnt focus on enjoying the experience though, because the tone and resulting tension caused by this waitress made it an unpleasant experience.Ill likely visit again someday, as I hate to allow one grouchy waitress have such a negative effect on things, but customer service is king in todays world and it may be awhile before I go back.
Food was ok… service was poor at best.
Yum 😋 a young atmosphere but delicious doughnuts
I visit with my girlfriend about 2-3 times a month and while we LOVE the food and the atmosphere, sometimes the service is a little weird. First, be aware that non alcoholic beverages are self serve. I delight in combing through the selection of mugs to find a unique one for my coffee. Lately they added cold brew to the menu and it is great. They make their pancakes with their donut batter and to be honest they’re the best pancakes 5/5. There are many delicious food offerings and as time goes on I’m making my way through the list. I love their “Teeny” which is a traditional breakfast: eggs, hash browns, meat, toast and a pancake. I don’t ever dine in without a chocolate chip pancake. The wait staff is, at the very least, courteous and timely. I just find it odd that we visit so often and don’t really have a rapport with any of them. Hard to describe but being that its a neighborhood place, it just seldom feels like we’re treated with any familiarity or warmness. Doesn’t happen all the time, but I think that could make the overall experience a bit more pleasant. This is certainly not a place to pass up though. Most recently I had the breakfast burrito and it was one of the best I’ve ever had!
Found this place on a roadtrip and loved it! You can definitely feel it is the neighborhood darling. Such a positive fun vibe. Had the brisket hash and it was fantastic. Highly recommend this place!
My husband and I stopped in for lunch, before going to the airport. There was limited parking, so we parked on a side street. We entered through a cozy, heated outdoor space and continued inside to find a booth. There was a fairly extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. I ordered a Wild West burger with fries. My husband ordered a Grilled cheese deluxe with chips and pickle. Pepsi products, coffee and iced tea were self-serve. The portions were generous. We both finished our meals. I also tried a cruller donut that was very good. The waitress said the specialty was pancakes using the donut batter, as well as the Italian sub.Id go again. The waitress staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is casual. There are tv screens with ESPN, a local station, and PBS going. I liked the children s option. Never seen that before. It was busy, but there was plenty of seating, no wait, and the food came out quickly.
Great burgers. Creative menu! Fun staff. Aside from the fact that Nick Jr. was on one TV when we arrived, everything was excellent. (Once management noticed the poor programming choice, it was quickly changed to hockey.) The only tiny snag to the evening was the fact that we arrived too late for doughnuts. Not their fault. A couple of blocks off the main drag in Grandview, but certainly worth it.
I make it a point to eat here whenever I am in Columbus. They have great food at relatively cheap prices for the area. I love their apple fritters!!! I usually get one and split it as an appetizer they are HUGE!!! I have also had numerous things from their menu and have not found something I didnt like from there. I will continue to visit them whenever I am in town!!!
Everything was wonderful. Best spot for breakfast food in Columbus
Good meal. I tried The Teny Breakfast with French Toast. I was disappointed with the French Toast, as it needed salt & to be cooked a little longer, as it was spongy. I would given a 3 star; however, if you order 2 eggs & 3 pieces of bacon, it is a smokin hot deal. Bacon was great.Restaurant is in a neighborhood; so, dont let that throw you. The donuts looked great! Next time, I will order 2 eggs & bacon by themselves, and add an apple fritter. I would come back. Also, thankfully, masks are NOT REQUIRED.
I tried the donut burger which was very good. Nice diner style atmosphere.
Delicious breakfast place with simple yet always delicious and well-done food and drinks. Nice patio or indoor dining. A great spot, compared to the average diner/breakfast places.
We were very lucky, and arrived early enough to avoid the long line. The service was first rate, and the food was perfect.Highly recommended!
Cool little eclectic dinner. We ate a late lunch early dinner on a Saturday and it wasnt very busy. All the food was great. The homemade tarter sauce was delish with the cod. Everyone loved their food. And, bought some doughnuts for the next morning.
Great chill spot to get some food and watch the OSU game, their chorizo hash was amazing. Will come back for sure
I frequent the DK regularly, I work in the neighborhood. The food and mostly service is phenomenal.Mostly have breakfast (served all day!!!!) But the 2 times I had lunch was great. Fresh cut fries were amazing, not undercooked not burnt (hard to do if youve ever hand cut and cooked raw 🥔)I recommend the Teeny, Definitely get the shredded and loaded potatoes.
Lovely little greasy spoon with lots of options and great donuts.
Always good food and generous portions. A Grandview neighborhood gem.
One of my favorite spots in Grandview, always great food and service. You get a lot of food for a good price!
This food is the best! I love coming here for a delicious breakfast whenever I can. They are popular so seating can be an issue but love it all the same.
Outdoor seating under a tent was perfect for our groomsmen! The food is delicious and staff were great!
The bloody Mary was not as I remember and the fillings for the omelette could have been warmer. Donuts are still good as is the coffee and I like their choice of milk.
DK Diner offers delicious breakfast and dinner options in a classic style. Great takeout option, too.
Our favorite place to go get breakfast for lunch. Our kids devoured the delicious pancakes/french toast, my wife had the DK All The Way, and I had the Chorizo Hash, which was just the right spice. We of course had to grab some housemade donuts for breakfast tomorrow. Our server was taking care of quite a few people at once, and was doing an amazing job, as we wanted for nothing. Definitely hit these guys up if youre in the Grandview area!
Great find for an early dinner. Eclectic place with great food and service.
Seriously, skip the $16 fancy tiny-plate brunch places and go straight here. I can only attest to the breakfast, but its delicious and will absolutely bless your little tummy and soul. Their pancakes are as fluffy as a cloud and the skillet breakfast is delicious with homemade sausage gravy and toast. Heck, you can even get some nice boozy brunch drinks here if thats what youre into. Coffee is always hot, fresh, and delicious as well and theres a variety of drink options to go with your meal. Just dont forget to grab some donuts on the way out (try the blueberry-youll understand!)Side note-the social distancing and other COVID-19 related policies in place here are some of the best Ive seen at any restaurant. Single use cups for all the drinks and you serve yourself each time which makes it a breeze. Didnt see a single staff member without a mask on properly and they seemed to pay great attention to detail when cleaning. Cant wait to come back now that Ive found my breakfast home.
Breakfast was great, fully loaded burrito that felt like 3 lbs of eggs, sausage, home fries, peppers and onions. The place has been remodeled since Ive been there last which was 5 or so years ago, they have outside seating now which is cool. But their donuts are on point and everyone there is very friendly. Id say my favorite meal has always been the chicken tender basket. Only complaint I would have is that the place is a bit small, but Ive never felt overcrowded.
Amazing donuts made fresh every day. I always bring people here when I’m hosting out of town guests because they have something for everyone. Who doesn’t love a great local spot with unique items like donut burgers and donut egg sandwiches? Drinks are great too- love their Bloody Mary’s!
Classic place. If you live here or are visiting....it is a must. Portions are huge so make sure you dont have anything active to do for the rest of the day....its like classic breakfast food but executed perfectly. Nice patio area. Good Bloody.....I also recommend checking out Knotty Pine which is right down the street.... especially if its like an hour wait here....go down to Knotty Pine and get $5 bloody Marys and $2 mimosas while you wait, weekends only. Actually Knotty Pine as great brunch on the weekends too. Anyways, check out DK Diner though....its amazing.
Drive 35 min every sunday to come to DK diner. Doughnuts are amazing and its not too pricy.
Was overcharged for my sandwich and side items that were supposed to be part of the meal. Spent $5.59 extra on total bill.Had to get your own drinks - during Covid???? And then no refills.Paid at the cash register because we were adding donuts to our total. Was never offered a bill to look at before paying. I asked for a receipt and left. Wasnt until I was at home, when I saw the overcharged amount. Bacon on my BLT was burned to a crisp. Nice portions, but food was pretty tasteless. Paid wayyyy too much just for lunch.
Super fast, loved the food and the workers.
So yummy! Pretty extensive menu and all the items were fantastic. Service was very nice and Ill definitely go back again! I ordered the brisket hash and substituted my toast for a very delicious, caramel-drizzled doussant! And washed it all down with a perfectly-balanced mimosa! Its a very popular place, so expect a little wait. But it is well worth it!
This diner is a staple for breakfast/lunch in Grandview. The donuts never disappoint, but if youre looking for a whole meal, you really cant go wrong! Everything Ive ever ordered has been perfectly cooked. Most recently I tried the biscuits and gravy and it was delicious! Its a small and cozy establishment, but worth the wait during peak busy times.
Incredible diner, the food was unique and absolutely amazing. The staff were accommodating for our larger party and we really enjoyed their ambience. Highly recommend DK for anyone looking for a great Columbus breakfast/brunch.
Tonight was my first time there and from the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be a great experience. From the great food to the atmosphere to the service and hand written checks, it is everything you want a hole-in-the-wall joint to be, and they nailed it. I am already planning on going back tomorrow.
Literally the best breakfast, atmosphere and service ever.
Delicious burgers and donuts. Staff was very friendly!
The food here is delicious! The staff is super friendly and helpful and its a pleasant place to dine in. Definitely recommend the breakfast food!
Wow, that chorizo plate is something else! Great meal, cool atmosphere, and friendly service. Give them a try!!
Honestly one of my favorite places to go for breakfast. Great food and reasonable prices, no frills, just good food. Only thing that I didn’t care for was the coffee, but I think that’s more subjective than anything. Check out The Mess or the Chorizo Hash.
Hands down my favorite diner in Columbus now. They have the best food. The atmosphere is wonderful and staff is always great.
Great place to eat. Delicious plus outside seating too.
Biscuits and gravy was great. Staff is very friendly. House made donuts are pretty good.
So cute! My fiance took me here for brunch, it was our first time. Very pleased. Clean with friendly staff. I got the brisket hash and it was a superb way of jazzing up a classic. We also got a dozen of dounts to go and they were very tasty as well! We will be returning cant wait to try lunch!
Food is pretty good, but the environment and seating could use some freshening up. We were seated in an enclosed outside area with rusted and wobbly table with plastic broke down chairs, and mind-you, I’m not a very big person (125 lbs) and my broke-down chair almost broke, which could have been so embarrassing (and dangerous). We were seated next to a windy outdoor heater (or something that blows a lot of air every 10 mins) that caused a lot of debris (leaves, dust, and grime) from the floor to blow toward and around the food. With that in mind, it is worth trying again if we were seated somewhere else because we got our food within 15 mins and we were able to get our own refills (which I liked!)
Delicious food, friendly staff! Despite how busy it was, they were fast and efficient and accommodating! Well be back for more donights soon!Oh, try the pancake shot.
Food was pretty good! Server was friendly.
Visiting from Atlanta Ga on job assignment and decided to go to this restaurant for brunch with a local co-worker. Based upon internet reviews I convinced him to join me. Restaurant is small but cozy and atmosphere is very young with young workers. Very busy although in time of covid. Menu was simple. We ordered and although my food order of veggie omelet was turned into hash i still delighted in eating it. Why three stars? From the car to sitting down the number of faces gaped with looked of either disgust or shock from entry into door, while eating and upon checking out with rude wild hair guy with glasses at cashier. I can only assume people of color are not common at visits to this establishment. Food was decent and service was kind enough but maybe this area of Columbus is not open to diversity? Also went to antique reseller and the same strange stares i almost thought my fly was open or my button down shirt was carrying a stain. I kept my 6ft distance and mask up and avoid the uncomfortable stares for now. look forward to leaving from this area of Columbus soon.
Good food service is great!
My husband and I come here at least once a week and we love it. The staff are incredibly nice, friendly, and accomodating. The food is yummy and the donuts are amazing! No joke. I used to love their self-serve drinks options, but now they are taking all COVID precautions, as well. Still the same great service and chill atmosphere. Thank you, DK! You guys rock. 🤟🏻💗🍩
This is always the place to go for a cream filled doughnut. Wish it was a bigger place. Parking can be a struggle, but, their neighbors are supportive. Service is always top notch.
Good food. Homefries were perfect the day I got em. Eclectic and fun seating areas too
We found our new favorite diner....service and food were beyond expectations...just left and cannot wait to go back
I seriously Love this little place!! They have really good food and the people are amazing. There is a breakfast and lunch menu. They also have a full selection of donuts that they make in house daily. I like the patio area to sit and eat in. They also have indoor dining as well. They offer takeout too.The French fries are fresh cut and so good. They have different soup choices daily as well.
Have been to DK many time to pickup donuts for work. They have some of the best donuts around. Today the family decided to order breakfast (first non donut order). I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy. I was looking so forward to them, but really was disappointed. The biscuits were like hockey pucks. They were hard and when I stuck a fork in them they just broke apart, tried to use a spoon. They were just too hard to to eat.On a positive the associates were friendly and the food had flavor. The rest of the family enjoyed their meals.
Hot, cheap and delicious. Theyve added outside heated seating and maximized space between customers inside. Easy no contact menus and pay and the servers wear masks correctly.
Excellent service, great food at reasonable prices. My goto lunch place in Grandview from now on.
Delicious food and excellent service
Good food, and I liked their outside eating area.Tight lil parking, but the donuts were amazing and worth it.
Came here for the first time very slow service and to add to that they had no onion rings how do you run out of something so small also very disappointing experience a lot of other places that will blow this place out of the water that actually care about there service and not run of simple items I don’t see this place making it much longer should be ashamed to even own this horribly ran place
Great diner. Excellent prices. Best breakfast spot around. Yum
