I walked into the Valley West Target with my grandaughter and I was looking for the motorized carts. I saw a young man to my right and he said I think I see someone who needs the motorized carts. Let me go over and see if they are charged up. He went and got one and brought it to me and told me to enjoy myself. I hope he was the manager or the assistant manager. He was one of the most polite man I have met in along time. I really appreciated the help he gave me. I cant thank him enough. Thank you

I go here cause Hyvee dont have stocked or dont carry certain products and Im not going to drive everywhere. Plus Hy-Vee dont have a lot of variety in cereals and snacks. Theres a lot stuck up people around here though welcome to West Des Moines suburbs. Plus they dont know how drive either. Lmao!

I purchased two watering cans at full price ($3 for each)The Next day, they went on sale at $1.80 online.So, I put an online order for four of them, thinking of returning the previous purchase (two of them), and keeping the rest.Today, I went to the Valley West Target store to pick up my online order. After I picked them up, I tried to return two of them with the receipt from the previous purchase.The employee named Christina would not take my return saying its their policy even though they are exactly the same items.So I ended up driving another 2 miles and returned them to a different store.First of all, the employee (Christina) was rude (I couldnt feel welcomed at all) when I was picking up the order, and got even more rude when I was trying to return the two items.Second of all, I think Targets policy is really unreasonable. I dont understand why they cant take the return even though they are exactly the same items. Target needs to revise their policy to be more flexible.

I attempted to return a non-opened air mattress at this store. The sticker on the box said “open air mattresses cannot be returned but can be exchanged”. Mine was clearly unopened and the employee working the return desk told me I could only exchange. I pointed out the sticker and that it was clearly unopened and she still said it didn’t matter, even though it is deceiving that was their policy. I took it to a different target location and they returned it without a problem.

Has everything and more!! Always come home with too many treats for the dogs. Great selection of hair care products. Just really happy

The customer service is just right. Not too in your face, not too ignoring. When I go to a store I want to be left alone until I need help. When I go to ask someone for help I expect politeness, haste and courtesy. Thats exactly what I get when I go to this Target. The older ladies at the checkout are my favorite employees. They are understanding, kind and quick with their service.

This is a profiling store, at least this location. I visited this location recently and never haveI ever experienced what I went through here. I had a friend with me and we innocently went in to shop for a few items, as this location was convenient for us. We were followed the entire time we were in there, for no reason. I mean everywhere we went in the store, two employees followed us and watched us! At one point, I asked one if themwhere a particular item was. He had no clue and never heard of it and they carry the item!I did not catch their names, but this incident will be reported to their corporate offices.We got our needs and left. Very rude and intimidating experience! I have been going to this location for many years and have had no problems until this visit. No innocent person should have to put up with profiling like this from anyone anywhere! This location was not even busy this particular evening. Not cool at all. Shame on Target! I will NOT visit this location again nor reccomend this location to anyone!

Target stores carry a lot of incredible products and I was looking forward to browsing today and picking up a few products to furnish my new apartments. However, based on my experience today I can’t say that I’d feel comfortable returning until this pandemic is well and truly over.The public in many cases do not respect social distancing guidelines, and in close quarters within a Target, this became that much more apparent. Walking through a Target, many were not wearing masks, walked directly up to me in the store, shopped right next to me- it was a stressful experience to constantly be aware of who around me was disregarding guidelines and constantly be stepping into aisles and leaving the products I was interested in to avoid people who may be infected and doing nothing to isolate/prevent spread.Now, I know of course that this is public behavior- and it isn’t Target’s role to police each individual.However, to make a comfortable environment for people to shop, I think enforcing a “one way” flow of traffic throughout the store would go a long way, marking out 6 ft throughout aisles, posting more notices ( are you 6 ft away from someone entering this aisle? Are there already too many people in this aisle?), Target providing masks upon entrance, and even some Target employees providing guidance/enforcing would go a long way.I know this is a difficult time, but please make your stores a safe place to be- safe from one another!

Bought Google Nest Mini (2nd Edition) and they had the same price as other retailers with the color I wanted in stock. Purchased through the app and it set pickup for the wrong store (twice) however I was able to correct. Once I arrived for pickup the wait time was long enough that it would have been faster for me to walk into the store and manually pick up the item. For general shopping I dont see the advantage to online ordering, however if youre concerned with an item running out of stock this is an alternative to missing out.

I was able to place and pick up an in-store order within four hours. This is not only convenient but Covid-conscientious.

The young man who helped me, Gabe, was very helpful and pleasant. He helped me find everything I needed from the large selection, and offered many great recommendations! Grade A customer service, will be shopping here more.

I prefer Target over Walmart for most of my shopping. Even at 70 years old and with only 1 lung left I still hate to ask for help. I bought a very heavy bookcase tonight and one young man was so helpful getting it up to the checkout for me. The other young man who was tasked with helping me out to my car with the item seemed to feel it was an undesirable task. He was jumping up and down and hollering at everyone else trying to talk someone else into helping me. He was laughing and making fun of taking it out. The young man who finally helped me out to the car was very nice about it. I was humiliated and extremely upset. I cried all of the way home. The young man obviously has no customer service skills, but, he doesnt even have any common courtesy. How would he feel if someone had done that to his grandmother.

Great for quick runs! Parking lot and front door setup are kind of weird and renders half the parking lot basically useless because of the main entrance being on the far side of the building.

I did a drive through pick up for the first time. That’s a really neat option they offer.

Poor selection of sporting goods.

Target is no longer the customer friendly store it once used to be. Make sure if you buy a gift for someone that you provide the person with the receipt, heaven forbid you buy the incorrect size and the person needs to exchange for the correct size. My daughter received a gift and LOVED the swimsuit, but it was not the correct size. When trying to exchange it, despite the correct size being the same price, we were advised we would have to pay the difference of the item we were exchanging, because they only return and re-purchase new item. Since no receipt was provided, they have to use lowest price in their system. Never shopping there for clothes again.

While shopping this morning, I found a shirt in the clearance that was not discounted. It wasnt until I found quite a few more, that I realized that they probably didnt mark them down and they were put there by accident. I asked the fitting person to call the manager to mark them down. She did this while on speakerphone. Jeff, was too busy to bother to come. She asked him 4 separate times to come back there and help a guest. He finally told her to ask Ryan. Ryan answered and said he was on break. While leaving the store I saw the managers standing together. I explained that I was the guest that they refused to help. Their answer should have been what can we do to make this right? Instead they told me you have a nice day. Way to kick me in the ass on the way out the door.

The other Target I went to did not have the item I needed, but the system said the Valley West Target has 36 on hand. I went there and there were many carts with boxes that needed to be unloaded. I asked a team member about the item and they said the 7:30am truck had the item, but they didn’t know which box. I asked Guest Service and they looked online, but were not able to help at all. Not a great experience at all. The store was also under construction. This parking lot is a bit scary too because it is on an incline.

Do not get your mobile phone at Target! My wife and I were working with the Jordan Creek Target. You can read that review with that location. In short, it was an endless nightmare that I wish I could wake up from. It has been an endless disaster!Long story short, I went to this Target today with the intention of getting my new iPhone X RS. We called to confirm they had one, after issues and dealing with the Target Mobile District Manager (also not helpful, professional, or polite). I was under the impression after dealing with the Jordan Creek Target that there would be a $150 Target gift card with the purchase of a phone upgrade. That was not the case. The guy I talked with was unhelpful, and showed little to no emotion telling me that deal only covered new phone numbers, not upgrades.I have no idea who is working at Target Mobile, but they are a third party company, and not Target employees. I will not be working with Target Mobile in the future. Ever.For a long time, this Target location was my favorite. After today I dont think I will be doing much business, if any with Target in the future. I dont see the point with their less than polite service, employees who cant help and dont, and a third party company that is not held responsible for the promises they cant and dont keep. It has soured my entire experience in working and being a Target customer, maybe former Target customer.This is a free warning.

The gentleman who helped me was amazing. I went in searching for the BTS Mattell dolls. I had been to two other area Targets to find them. They did not even want to check to see if they had them in the back. He was not even in the Toy area, he worked in Electronics. He went to the back and searched through the pallets and found me the dolls. He was amazing!

I bought the WAHL Elite Pro hair clipper set for something like $70 from this store. When I got it home and took out the clippers they already had hair on them. I figured I could get past the fact that they had been opened and used when I paid $70 for them but when I went to use them they would not cut hair. They buzz and make noise but do not cut at all. So someone returned these as broken, and someone put them back on the shelf for some poor fool like me to find in hopes that said person would be foolish enough to lose their receipt. Thats the only explanation I can find as to why these were put back on the shelf broken and with hair on them.I currently cannot find the receipt, I am hunting all over for it and lord help them if I find it, but it looks like Target robbed me of $70. So going forward I am never doing business with Target or any store that puts returns back on the shelf like used hair clippers. I highly doubt this $70 will be worth the lack of business that you see from me going forward. What a scam. I knew I should have orders online.Buy expensive items at your own risk!

Had a wonderful in-store experience on Sat, Jan 19. I experienced a health issue on the spot. Target employees (including Pharmacist) told care of my 5 y old son and myself while we waited for help to arrive. I have always enjoyed shopping there but they now have a true fan in me.

Was given a gun to scan without knowing what we were doing. Stood there at customer service trying to figure it out while people working there just stood around joking with each other. Once completed, asked for announcements to put in baby shower cards and was told to had to go to another Target to get them, because the store we went to didnt have any. Also, did not receive a baby bag of samples.

I am plus size. In every Target there are only 2 rows of options! And the only style seems to be Ava & Viv. Merona fits much better and I feel is better quality. Really disappointed that I have to order online to purchase clothing from Target!

This Target always has friendly staff, great prices and a nice selection of items without over saturating selection. Ive switched my grocery shopping to this location exclusively due to the amount I save compared to HyVee. Better tasting store brand too.

The managers are very nice, but that doesnt really make up for all the issues Ive experienced with this particular store.Most recently, I used the Target app to find six different $15-20 gifts for family and was very meticulous about which items I picked so that I could pick them all up from the same store (this one), with the exception for one item which the app said was only available at the Altoona store.I chose the store pick-up option, and headed to the store early to get wrapping supplies. I got a notification saying that 4 out of the 5 items that were supposedly available for pickup at this store were actually out-of-stock. One item said it wasnt available at any other store in the metro. So I cancelled the 4 items and went to look for alternative options. *Keep in mind that my card was charged upfront for the order ($72) and the charges werent updated until the next day. Target staff will tell you that your card isnt actually charged and that its a pending pre-approved transaction, but that doesnt change the fact that my bank still considers that money unavailable in my account for 24-hours. So yes, you are charged up front.While looking, I actually found 3 of the items in-stock, clearly visible. This is super frustrating because it means that their order fulfillment team barely even looked for my order items before saying that they were out of stock. And I actually found multiples in stock of the item that was supposedly only available at the Altoona store.*I have had multiple issues with orders through the Target app (pick-up or same-day delivery from this store) and not only does their guest services desk never answer the phone (it rang for 3 minutes and then hung up on me, TWICE), but they claim they are unable to deal with problems involving their same-day delivery through Shipt because, they are a third party not affiliated with Target even though every part of my transaction was through the Target app and the charge on my account was from Target, not Shipt.This is just completely ridiculous.

Would I recommend Target to others? Not any more - the store is a mess, there are scant staffed check out lanes open, even with long lines. Shoppers are forced to use self-check-out even though they are also backed-up. Des Moines area Target stores are getting worse and worse.

A good selection of things you need, may need, or more than likely didnt know you needed but hey its Target so lets get 12 of them for $5. On a side note; this Target in particular does have a grocery section, but it is probably less than half the size of a Super Targets grocery, so not as good of a selection.

The store was very clean and organized. The workers were also helpful when I needed assistance in located an items.

Bought a shelf and had it shipped to the store, someone put it too close to the return pile without double checking and it got put on the sales floor and sold to someone else. Jeff sorted it out and covered the cost of a new one for the extreme inconvenience it caused. Overall I will buy from target again however I will NEVER order anything online again :)

Clean store. I spend way too much here. also the Starbucks inside is nice. They have cup holder attachments that you can attach to your cart while shopping.

Decent Target. A little different layout than other Targets Ive been to so it was a little confusing to navigate. I wish the bathrooms were a little cleaner though.

This location has a lot to offer with its many departments. It has a CVS pharmacy inside. I didnt see any CVS brands of over the counter medications, but the prices were better than a free standing store. I like the app that tells you if there is a coupon available just by scanning the barcode.

Great customer service found the things we needed the only thing I would have to say is their Rubbermaid bins are kind of cheaply-made and the handles fall off thats not my kind of item that I would purchase for myself I purchase it for my dad since we are packing up all of our stuff in our grandmas house since he passed away but overall the store is clean we found the things very quickly and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Its the dive target store, but its on the west side of des moines and the people thatll run the younger workers to do the tasks nobody wants, they will abandoned the job. Dozens of boxes on the floor in a lot of main isles, wet floors left unattended (wet store signs in bucket tray roller) and just very avoiding floor staff, I prefer the south side target they seem to be ahead of the game above west side target.

This location needs a lot of improvement. Consistently poor quality. Very dirty, never enough cashiers, and never anyone to offer customer service while visiting.

If I could give negative stars I would. The bathrooms were deplorable. I will never visit again because if they can not care for bathroom how can staff take care of other areas of the store.
