This place is a gem! The buttermilk chicken, yes chicken at a bagel shop is probably the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life! Seriously, they can make a spin off store, Chicken by Jarrett and it would be a hit. Sandwiches are also amazing and whenever we order we usually get our order within 30 mins on door dash, although I live in WO.I usually get my bagels toasted when I order from other places which you can’t get here but it is what it is.I don’t understand people complaining about the prices, this is what they charge. Go order a bagel from DD if your worried about paying a little more for good quality food.

Currently a web based ordering system with pick up at the store or delivery through Door Dash or Grubhub, it currently doesnt have on site dining. That said, their bagels and other breakfast sandwiches are first rate, albeit a bit pricey. Your typical breakfast sandwich will run $12.50, but ours were scrumptious. If you can deal with the limitations, it is well worth it.

Update to reply back to owner. The 3 isn’t solely based on price. As stated I really like the one item however I thought everything else was average, hence my 3 star. So to say I based it just on price isn’t fair.I ordered Bagels, Tuna Salad, a specialty Bagel, and chicken wings on GrubHub on 9/19. The food was okay. I am prepared for the owner to reply back with youre just okay as I have seen the owner reply smugly to other reviewers. I think the price doesnt justify food - but still gave it a try. The chicken wings were good, but not $20 good. Tuna salad was mediocre, but I really liked Fried Chicken Joe. Ill give them that on the fried chicken.

We live in a place where bagels are better than every where else in the world, but how can things get even better?Simply put, Jarrett doesnt skimp on anything. You want seeds on your bagel? 10x more than every other place out there. You want veggies in your cream cheese? Real large chunks of fresh peppers through out. This isnt your ordinary bagel shop, its extraordinary.And just because he has the best product, doesnt mean hes skimped on customer service. Streamlined store management means you are in and out with your delicious morning treats to take on the world. Buy one for today, and a dozen to stash in the freezer for the week to come.

It was good and all and I am glad they do not mess around with the seasoning on both sides. This is not an eat on the go type place. The eggs are scrambled and mixed with cheese. Very rich but while biting that egg is gonna go everywhere. There is a reason eggs arent scrambled on bagels. My question is why is an egg and cheese so expensive. Seems a little excessive to me,no? I kept staring at the menu, like am I missing something, but no I got an egg and cheese which I think I paid 10.50. I could not go in the store so I did not see official menu on wall but to drop that much for a bagel no matter how much it is seems excessive but hey, I dont want to steer you away cause it is delicious just way to much.

There definitely has been a lot of hype about this place before it even opened, and I was very excited to try the bagels.. unfortunately I feel like I bought into the hype a little too much.. and wound up a bit disappointed. The bagels are good.. but Ive had better.. especially considering the price point and size of them.They are $1.50 per bagel with nothing on them, and they actually seem pretty small. With different spreads, they can range from 3.50-5.50, even more for the different salads and other sandwich offerings. Just seems pretty pricey for a small portion. I wanted to get a container of the everything butter but it was sold out, so I ordered one to go with the spread on it instead.. it was good, but again wasnt really worth the money that I spent on it. I suggest maybe ordering the butter on the side if you plan on waiting to eat the bagel, it was pretty saturated through and a little greasy to eat when I got home.Another negative I must add is that some of the bagels that I bought seemed a little stale by the time we ate them later in the afternoon. I know bagels obviously are the best when theyre fresh out of the oven, but I was a little surprised how hard they were after only a couple hours after buying. There was also a bunch of flour crusted onto a plain bagel that I received.. not the most appealing thing to look at.Despite a couple of negatives, I still would go back when they expand the menu to try again!

Due to Covid safety, ordering and payment is done outside. The items are prepared and brought out to you. It would be better if they have a sign displaying the specials and/or a large whiteboard to show you what items are available. This will save time for the people taking orders. The order was quick and accurate. The food was fresh and delicious.

The bagels are amazing! A creative perpetual flow of new items keeps this home town shop way ahead of the pack. I take his tuna and chicken salad whenever I am asked to bring something-always a hit.

I do not think there is an adequate word in the english language to describe how delicious the new brisket sloppy joe sandwich is. To preface this, the best brisket I have ever eaten came from a BBQ restaurant in Memphis, TN (Central BBQ - Downtown) that has a 4.4 google rating with over 3,800 reviews. Well id put this brisket up against theirs any day of the week as it is absolutely spot on! Tender, flavorful, sliced perfectly and paired with the most amazing cole slaw and russian dressing I have ever tasted. Yet another homerun that Jarrett can be proud of! Keep up the AMAZING work.

Worst Bagel New Jersey has to offer asked for a everything bagel with light cream received to pieces of sand paper with a block of cream cheese in the middle. Please don’t waste you money and start your day off like this your welcome in advance. That’s what you took from that to correct my grammar and I’m sorry but that wasn’t me who called and we were very polite even tipped your employee. So how about instead of giving grammar lessons you focus on your horrible bagels and improving your craft.

LOVE this place! All of the food is fresh and delicious. I’ve tried several things on their menu and am always happy with my choices. It seems you just can’t go wrong! The people who work there are also very nice. I called with questions about the menu and actually enjoyed speaking to Jarrett or whoever it was on the other end of the phone. Was happy to hear that their chicken salad is sans weird stuff, like raisins. And yummy!

I’ve thought about the bagels and cream cheese from here every other day since I’ve had it. It is seriously one of the best bagels I’ve had. Great texture, great flavor. The funfeffi cream cheese is incredible. 10/10. I would take the NJ Transit from Brooklyn for that cream cheese.

Not only creative but delicious with many hearty selections. They have a special where they put a knish on a bagel which is pretty ballsy. Looking forward to seeing what else they may come up with.

Some issues on my end with touchless ordering but their staff swung to action and had a solution. These bagels are divine and tr spreadable cream cheese is to d** for. Crunchy toasty on the outside and that distinct elastic texture on the inside of the bagels. Everything felt homemade.

All hail the triumphant bagel baron of the Oranges and his blessed bagel castle! Jarret himself was helping sell bagels at the grand opening. The people in the out-the-door-and-around-the-corner line were happy and the bagels and spreads were other-worldly. Amen.

I dont say this lightly, but the owner is an innovator. What other bagel shop in the world do you check the specials DAILY to see what amazing concoctions they are creating? Super friendly staff, great covid precautions, and absolutely deliciously amazing food.

I love this place. Ive had the bagels and the buns, aka a breakfast sandwich baked into a bagel, and both have really blown me away. Get the everything bagel, I dont think youve seen a bagel with as much everything as Jarett does it. Phenomenal. Oh and the cold brew and nitro are great too. Looking forward to trying their chicken at some point!

Just a bit upset with the experience overall, sent my wife without checking the menu as I work the morning shift. She tells me when I get home that she paid over $20 for 2 breakfast sandwiches and on top of that, they dont even have real sausage. Other than that I found no issues, but we ourselves will not be returning.

Been here a few times and its always been amazing! Great and friendly staff always on hand, and their food is out of this world! Their bagels and spreads themselves are worth getting, but add to that the constant new additions and its definitely a cant miss! Even as a vegetarian, theyve got some great creations! Some of the buns weve tried are the YOLO, OOO egg, PEC, and they were all delicious. Or if youre in the mood for a sandwich, their Veggie Joe is a masterpiece. Add to that something sweet, like a salted chocolate chip bagel w/cinnilla or fried dough with Reagans rainbow cream cheese, and youve got a great meal! I ordered bagels to be shipped to North Carolina - they arrived in mere days. I immediately popped one in the oven and was so impressed at how fresh it tasted. I froze the others and over the course of a few days I would take one out, place in oven and realize that the experience didn’t change! I was overly satisfied with the quality and freshness and taste of the bagels - shipped 700 miles away! Superior product. Yes, I live in NC, but I am originally from the bagel Mecca of the tri state area, hoss.

I used the online ordering to place an order which was super easy to do! We grabbed our bagels and sandwiches with such friendly service!! The Lawsuit was a huge sandwich and delicious! My kids loved the everything bagels with cream cheese! Can’t wait to come back again! Highly recommend!!

The food is delicious but they seem to struggle to stick to the times they estimate for pickup on weekends. I waited for over an hour after my estimated pickup time for a simple order.

The quality is great. The staff are great. But the two times I have ordered there, the bagels (buns) have been....meh. I ordered the egg and cheese everything, and the egg and cheese plain last time. Lacking flavor.

My regular favorite is the Countersuit, but honestly you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Order your lunch, and while youre enjoying it, let all your cares wash away and feel thankful youre alive to eat such fantastic food.

I was lured to this bagel shop for tacos, strangely, and even more strangely - they’re some of the best tacos I’ve had! Not sure they’re available every day, but if you see them - get them! I also tried “the Lawsuit” buttermilk fried chicken on an everything bagel - incredible! BXJ is doing a great job transforming this location. This retail space has been at least 4 different places in the last 10 years and no one has been able to draw a consistent following. Their bagels and Asian wings are really good!

Amazing bagels. Soft and chewy inside. A little crunch outside. Spreads are delicious and complimentary to the bagels. The everything butter is insane. Chicken salad is super fresh and delicious and mostly chicken! My wife said he reinvented the bagel and I agree. Awesome job!

WOW!!!! These bagels are fantastic. They’ve got the perfect crunch on the outside and softness on the inside that every bagel SHOULD have. The chive cream cheese is so stellar that I got a large container to take home with me, along with the dozen bagels I bought. Service was quick and efficient, the facility was sparkling clean and aesthetically pleasing, and the music was great too! Overall, a great experience. 12/10 would go back every week if I could!

Food is amazing. This Man is a genius, if you do go, get the Bagel bites with Reagan creme cheese, you wont be disappointed. They are awesome. I had the Gyro bun, cheese steak bun and Taylor Ham bun, and meatball Parm and they are all great. Worth a trip.

Ive had many of Jarretts creations and I love most of them... especially lox cream cheese spread, veggie cream cheese spread, chick pea salad, plain and everything bagels, chicken salad.The bagels have been very fresh and the everything bagel has more everything than most bagel shops.I have to to try the gluten free options.Today I tried egg and cheese in a bagel bun. Very light and gooey. I prefer no salt on my everything bagel and lightly toasted. It was a little overcooked. I will try again though.I love the bun... everything stays inside...except the everything on the outside!Im hoping for turkey bacon creations and turkey meatballs.I will be back.This review is for May 1, 2020 visit.

They hype is for real. I picked up some bagel, chicken salads, and spreads. Everything was great, but I want to shout out the veggie cream cheese and chicken salad specifically. Both are outstanding. The veggie cream cheese has an incredible combination of crunch and flavor. It literally bursts with flavor. As for the chicken salad, well I just ate it out of the container with a fork. I meant to just try it, and then I finished it. Great job with the shop. STOKED to have Irving Farm coffee right down the street now too. During a time where I cant be in the city for work, the citys coffee luckily came to me. Great job, guys!

Stopped there today after hearing so many great things about the bagels. Had an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. The bagel was absolutely covered in topping that didnt just fall off all over and the veggie cream cheese was the best I ever had. Brought some home for the whole family to try tomorrow. The quality of the bagel was matched by the quality of service. Very friendly and the speed was incredible even with the fact that they are forced to do drive up service due to the quarantine. Highly recommend giving Bagels by Jarrett a try.

Im not your typical cream cheese and lox bagel person. Im more of your plain with butter type so I cant speak for the spreads. I went to the soft opening. I got a plain with butter. It was out of this world. Now that wasnt my first bagel from Jarrett. I then went to his grand opening and tried his new everything butter which debuted that day. Everything butter is the best thing Ive ever had on a bagel. About two hours later my friend called and said she was heading over to bagels by Jarrett. I joined her and while we were checking out Jarrett saw me and said did you try the everything butter? I said the best thing I ever had on a bagel. He remembered me. Thousands of bagels given out and he remembered me. The girl who likes the plain with butter bagel. That is epitome of a true shop owner. Know your customers, know what they like and youll keep a customer forever. West orange needs more businesses like this.

Just not impressed by this place. The bagels are just ok and never taste fresh. Today’s bagel was definitely made a few days ago and the prices are quite high... complicated parking lot ordering system as well, especially if you’ve never been.

Checked the Doordash menu to place an order for pickup. $10 for a bec on a bagel? $15 for a bagel with lox. Why am I paying more than double? And why are the prices way higher than whats on your website?

They have done an amazing job getting up and running in spite if some challenging times. Their bagels are unique and delicious. I recommend their chicken salad or really any of their spreads or salads! Dont just come for the bagels!

I have tried everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese and sesame seed bagel with garlic shallot cream cheese. Both were phenomenal. This is no ordinary bagel shop! The cream cheese spreads are the best I have tasted! The flavors are surprisingly unique. Bagels were delicious and fresh. If you are looking for quality bagels, this is the place to get them. I also tried nitro cold brew on tap which was refreshing. Staff was very friendly making the overall experience wanting you to come back for more. Will be returning to try other bagels on the menu!

They are making it work during COVID 19. My wife and I were in town visiting our friends who live nearby. Never heard of this place before. Very unique product (the bagel buns) and great selections.

These bagels and spreads are THE BOMB! If you’ve ever had an everything bagel and had “everything” on the bottom of the bag when you got home, these are for you! Loaded with everything that stays on the bagel. Spreads are all great, depending on your preference. Waiting to get a hold of the bagel chips. Run, don’t walk, to the shop. You’ll be glad you did.

They are hand crafted with love by a perfectionist and it shows.Long story short, all the bagel places in the area brought this upon themselves. They put out mediocre bagels for years and Jarrett finally got fed up and did something about it. It’s been a long time coming but they’re finally open and it was worth the wait!

Never had anything from Jarretts that wasnt better than I expected, and I have always had high expectations.

I got the chicken up in da club, chicken salad with bacon and chive spread, tomatoes and onions on an everything bagel. It was amazing, you can taste the bacon and the chicken salad is creamy and delicious. The curbside pickup was very quick and the employee was super nice.

Great bagels and tasty spreads. Every bagel place should be seeding both sides of the bagel like BXJ does. Really makes a difference. If there is a line outside, dont be intimidated. It moves quickly.

If you value your time with your family on the weekends go elsewhere, such as Sonny’s Bagels in South Orange. The ordering system here (i.e. drive up and wait in your car until they get to you) is straight out of the 1950s. I got a hotel room in 1980s Communist Eastern Europe faster than getting a simple order for a dozen bagels. Life is just too short.

Killer. Killer bagels, killer roasted shallot & garlic cream cheese, killer scallion cream cheese, killer chicken salad. Were picky about our bagels and these are so tasty. One of the big differences with these bagels is the seeds are actually on BOTH sides of the bagels. Ive never seen that. Hes very new so theres a line but it moves very quickly.

Craft Bagelry if you will, but BXJ is soooo much more. Daily menu and specials, look at their website before going to the shop. Amazing bagels, sandwiches, salads, spreads, and HAPPINESS in a shop. From start to finish an amazing experience. Well worth the wait to order, once you order it’s almost instantly ready! My go-to’s are The Lawsuit, Carne Asada Bun, Tex Mex egg rolls, Fried Dough with Reagan’s Rainbow goodness. Thanks for the creativity and consistency!!

In the New York/New Jersey area, bagel shops are on every corner. Some are good, some are not so good, but Jarrett’s bagels are many many steps above all the rest and in one word: INCREDIBLE. You will never ever find a bagel quite like his. Jarrett’s bagels are the perfect shape and consistency. They have a nice bite on the outside and a wonderful softness and chewiness on the inside. Jarrett’s real star is the everything bagel, which is coated (ON BOTH SIDES!) with seeds. No skimping on the seeds here. He puts extra love into his spreads, and the roasted garlic and cream cheese is a real standout. The chicken salad is also a five star product and a perfect compliment to an everything bagel. It’s the right balance of mayo and crunch; and while I HATE raw celery with a passion, it’s purpose is primarily texture (which gets two big thumbs up from me). The Chicken Up in Da Club is incredible - the amazing chicken salad with a schmear of bacon chive CC and tomato on your choice of bagel (I usually go to the SOG bagel). Newest item of intrigue: the BEC bun. It’s bacon egg and cheese INSIDE of a Jarrett everything bagel - no mess, all the flavor, mind blown.The shop is like no other bagel shop you’ll ever see. It’s an industrial chic, clean, modern vibe with an everything seed WALL on the outdoor windows. Marquee lighting of “BXJ” illuminates the interior.Bagels by Jarrett has Irving Farm coffee, a specialty Manhattan roaster, in multiple varieties: hot drip coffee, cold brew ON TAP, and nitro ON TAP. People: this coffee is freakin incredible and how fun is it to hit the tap, first thing in the AM? Almond milk is freely offered as a dairy-free alternative for your coffee.Be sure to buy extra, because there is no possible way you can eat just one.. plus, they freeze and come back to life like magic.

Jarrett’s kitchen & service staff are courteous (especially when they’re short staffed and Jarrett has filled in service himself). Order online. Efficiency is underrated for the brief hours they operate.
